All the food was well prepared and presented. We all enjoyed our meals, especially the fish and chips, beef rogan, and the Duke beef burger. The staff were pleasant and attentive, although we did not receive bread to start, which was a slight oversight. An enjoyable evening with family. We’ll be back!

We ordered 2 steak dinners and the meat was cooked to preference perfectly! And the sides were also great! There could be a wee bit more choice on the kids menu, but kids pasta was enjoyed and a good portion. Lovely dinner!

We had booked to eat here while staying at the Nith Bank Country Estate for a couple of nights, fully expecting a normal pub grub offering. The usual menu items were there but we thought we'd try something a bit different - I had the Kirkcudbright scallops to start and my husband had the chicken wings. The scallops were small, plentiful and beautifully sweet. The chicken wings were deboned and presented nicely on the plate. We both plumped for the venison as our main course. It was cooked perfectly and the boulangere potatoes that accompanied it were amazing. With still a little room left for dessert, my husband ordered the sticky toffee pudding. I had the cheese selection which was just right. The sticky toffee pudding was HUGE and apparently delicious, especially with the cinder toffee crumb and vanilla ice cream on the side. All in all a lovely experience, made more so by the friendly staff who looked after us very well all evening.

The restaurant was very busy the night we eat there. The food was excellent as was the service considering how busy they were. The wine we chose was very good and very reasonably priced. A great evening with a first class meal in a very vibrant area. Would highly recommend you give it a try.

The vegetarian menu is different, but as is often the case it is just a plate of vegetables, no protein, so more like a side dish. I was quite hungry later on. Maybe some research into the proteins that vegetarians and vegans need in their diet might be a good idea.

The food was excellent and the service friendly, helpful and prompt. The restaurant is light and attractively decorated. We were unfortunate to be sat very near to a woman who spoke very loudly and gave her medical history in great detail. Not particularly conducive to an enjoyable lunch but not the fault of the restaurant. Despite this we would have no hesitation in returning as the meal was tasty and good value.

A lovely place to go for a great meal. The duck dish was beautifully cooked and the Lamb Saag was plentiful and very tasty. So pleased we chose this hotel for our special meal.

It is a great place to eat. We were a little disappointed with the length of time it took to get served our food and drinks . One of our starters was forgotten too. If people are in a hurry to get somewhere else it might not be the right place to eat, or maybe it was just because it was Sunday. We ate there a few weeks ago midweek and all was ok. Quick , efficient service then.

A lovely relaxed meal. The menu had changed the same day so the options were different from what we expected. Also had early evening booking (7pm) for 4 people and some options, especially desserts, had already sold out. This meant one of the party, who is celiac, only had the choice of ice cream for dessert. That said, the food was very good and everyone was happy with their choices. Would definitely book again for the relaxed atmosphere and good food
