I usually love this place but sadly not so much this visit. My niece & nephew had about an hour before they had to go get a 6 hour bus ride home & I wanted to get them a decent meal before they left.
Staff were pretty efficient at getting us our food out but they brought out my niece’s smoked salmon bagel plate announcing that they’d run out of regular bagels & only had cinnamon raisin left which they had already toasted & placed on the plate.
My niece was a little thrown back by this but by this time there was no time to request a new dish, we pretty much had to eat & pay. Having said that they could have:
A Checked with her before they brought it out
B Offered some of their amazing grilled toast
C Offered to discount out the dish
But they didn’t. Very disappointing... it won’t stop me from going back but I will be asking if they are out of anything or if they are substituting anything when I order going forward.
It will also improve when all the construction literally right outside their front door ends. Eating grit with your meal is no fun.
I ordered the chicken sandwich it was sliced very thin it was dry and totally inedible. The fries were soggy and limp.
Cool vibe, unpretentious
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. With lots of regular costumers making it feel very laid back and welcoming.
Great neighborhood spot
After a lot of hype about Building on Bond, it fell short of my expectations. Mainly due to the poor service. We were asked to close out early because our waiter's shift was ending early but then were never helped again after multiple attempts to get another waiter's attention. We also had a rude server who made no effort to go above and beyond or even try to get our order correct and hand the right person the right drink. It could potentially be great, but my experience was not.
I dined here with family for Mother’s Day and it was pleasant. The waitress was friendly and the food was good. The brunch menu is a bit limited for my taste but what we ordered was tasty. I would definitely go back but for dinner (instead of brunch), for more options.
The noise in the back room was atrocious. The food and service were fine.
I know this place is a popular neighborhood spot, but each time I go, it's just "eh". The menu is on the small side, the food isn't great, and the service is hit or miss. Some of the tables have paper runners which is good if your kids want to draw (but you need to bring your own crayons). There are other places nearby on Smith or Atlantic that are better.
Wonderful food, friendly and attentive service, creative and delicious cocktails. Love BoB!
Thus is our go-to restaurant. Good food, great ambience, and best of all, the bluegrass band that played last Sunday. Fantastic surprise! Will be back on the 15th for their next gig (Cowboys and Indians), and another terrific meal.
My family had Easter brunch there and it was cozy. The restaurant reminded me of restaurants in San Francisco.
Neighborhood gem! Great food and service. Very informal. Close to Barclay’s Center which makes it great for pre-game get-togethers
Bob was our go to as far as good food on a consistent basis. However, over the past year or so, it has consistently gotten worse. The service is slow and the food is mediocre at best. Their burger used to be outstanding and now it is dry and tasteless. We are truly disappointed and will need to find a better neighborhood restaurant to frequent.
Incredible food. Service was gentle and kind - not overbearing and very patient. My wife is Vegan and I'm Paleo and we could both eat delicious food that suited out needs - and drink some delicious non-alcoholic drinks too.
I came here with a group of 7. The staff was gracious and accommodating. The menu is not fancy but solid and well priced. Burgers, salads, and entrees were all delicious. Also, save room for the “worth it” chipwhich and bread pudding! The restaurant is relaxed and not noisy. It’s a good place to have a conversation.
I was pleasantly surprise how well balanced everything were. The drinks, the foods... Each drink, which we ordered (total of...8?), we felt quite ordinarily for the first sip. The after taste and after that, we tasted enjoyable, complex, well-balanced, sensitive flavors throughout the drink. I'm not a vegetarian but tried the vege burger. Again, they looked ordinarily nice burger. The first bite tasted good, then, all the textures and flavors came through my mouth. It was like a meal with very quiet, yet thoughtful and knowledgeable person :) We enjoyed every aspects of the restaurant.
Food took a very long time and they got my order wrong
I always want to like this restaurant more than I do. The ambiance is great. It's spacious, sunny, and good for kids. Yet the food is consistently mediocre. You expect better in 2018 Brooklyn. Processed cheddar? Overcooked eggs? Limp bacon? C'mon Building on Bond, you must be able to do better.
several visits to this neighborhood restaurant. tasty food in a very casual setting just wish the waiters were more aware--had to ask for more water, more napkins, milk for the coffee. also a smile or a bit of friendliness from the waiters would make dining there so much better. hostess upon entering restaurant very friendly and welcoming. had reservations and we did not have to wait to be seated which was great.
We met there for brunch with my son/girlfriend and business partner. We were early but the staff welcomed us to sit and enjoy coffee while we waited. The atmosphere is charming and funky.
The menu selections for brunch offer a nice variety. I had the Eggs Benny with spinach and a side salad that were cooked to perfection. My husband had a burger that was cooked to order with just the right amount of pink.
Always a good menu. Love that BoB is community minded
Lovely original decor, combined with great, service and food arrived quickly and was delicious! Went for Sunday brunch and would thoroughly recommend.
Building on Bond is one of my neighborhood go tos, especially during the summer when I can sit outside with my dog. the food and drinks aren't anything spectacular, but the service is good and it is a friendly neighborhood joint. this latest visit was with a friend from out of town for Sunday brunch and neither of us was very impressed with the food for the price.
Cobb Salad was good except I ordered with Portobello mushrooms which were soggy. It comes with bacon also. Waiter was very attentive when we needed him to be.
We were seated in the back room, which I suspect is quieter than the main room. It was nice because we were a group of seven and could actually hear each other. The menu was not huge but had a decent variety from which to choose. The portion sizes were large enough to satisfy but not ridiculously huge like they are in some places. Even the picky eaters in the group were happy with their meals. Our server (Mike) was great and very patient.
I do miss the chorizo burger.
Food was OK. Burger wasn't bad but nothing special. Service, although friendly, was not very attentive.
Place has been better in the past but again, not bad.
Love the food and staff here!! So welcoming. Love the kale salad with salmon filet. Tried the veggie burger this time and it was already very good!
How this place has 4.5 stars I don't know. Very inattentive wait staff. Service is just awful. I want to love this place as it's so convenient to home but unfortunately I will not be returning.
Had a small baby shower here this weekend and it was lovely. They gave us the whole back room even though they could have easily sat 4 more people back there. It was laid back, charming atmosphere, good food/drinks, great service. Would absolutely recommend this place to everyone.
I was based in the Boerum Hill area of Brooklyn for a week in mid-July, and I ate at this restaurant three times--which should qualify as an endorsement of this establishment to the casual eye! I especially liked their soups (both bot and cold), and they make a great burger that you can have with either a salad or fries. I also had a pork chop that was pretty good, but I would avoid the meatball hero : ( . The service is best at the bar if you can swing it. Service at the table was fair on one night but better on the second. All in all, I would return--but I will probably stick to the soup/burger/house wine combination. The restaurant is well worth your time to check out what your own preferences are.
I'm obsessed with Building on Bond. It never disappoints, the service is always incredibly friendly and the food is solid. It's a neighborhood staple and if it ever went away, I would truly cry. Had a great friends get-together this weekend at BoB, sat outside, they brought my friend's dog some water - it was perfect.
great food, service. Comfortable, casual atmosphere. eclectic decor.
Went for brunch on Father's Day. Food was very good. Service was pleasant and attentive.
Sat outside. Looked great inside as well.
Solid food, cute atmosphere and yummy cocktails. I've had dinner here twice and was not disappointed. The mac and cheese and fried chicken sandwich are favorites here and both are super tasty.
Food was great, service was a little slow and the server was not that great. I would definitely come back.
It took forever to get our food, and when we did it was cold and overcooked. They were only busy at the outdoor tables, the inside was empty and they seemed to be totally overwhelmed. And on top of all of that, they told OpenTable that we didn't show up for our reservation. I won't be going back anytime soon.
Appetizers were the star of the show - BBQ shrimp and Korean chicken wings. The chicken sandwich had awesome flavor, but the meat was sliced very very thin, which caused it to be dry and not representative of what I'd call a chicken sandwich.
Definitely a neighborhood gem. The food is good, the interior is charming and there are outside tables on a quiet tree-lined street (so no buses and trucks). Service is always pleasant and efficient. I appreciate that they accept OpenTable because I don't like standing in line for an hour for casual meal.
