Great food and service.. awesome dessert cocktails.
First time here and a very enjoyable experience, pleasant staff
Been here numerous occasions never had a bad meal staff wonderful and pleasant will always be back
Great food and service was good! Didn’t like the fact was told the kitchen was closing mid meal! So if we wanted anything else to order now...IE deserts. So not great on that aspect! But other than that was good!
Cheerful staff but slow service of the meal. The chicken first course was uninteresting, the cheesecake pudding very poor.
No body checked how our food was and I had to go inside twice to find a waitress for service. Food was fantastic but we even had to go inside to pay as we waited to long for someone to take our money. Not impressed a service charge was included as I wouldn’t have otherwise left a tip !
We've eaten at Bumpkin (Westfield Stratford) previously. It's one of the few places there at which there is a pleasant atmosphere, a comfortable environment, and where the background noise is low enough to allow conversation at normal speech level. The food is unexceptional, but usually good.
We were not in any hurry, but on this occasion the service was very slow and, if I thought it likely to be as poor as it was, I would be disinclined to return. I also thought that the cost of our meal was high in relation to the quality.
Excellent service. I am gluten free and the waitress and manager were exceptionally helpful when I was choosing options
Quite busy but staff were attentive. Friends delayed but we weren't rushed. Eaten there a few times before. Good solid British food. However on this occasion the chicken was a bit dry and over cooked as were the fries. Friends' pies were fine. Lovely elder-flower jelly dessert.
I had a burger. No idea why they asked me how I wanted it cooked because I specified medium and it was overdone and dry. The chips looked like yesterday’s warmed up.
Incredibly friendly service, delicious Sunday lunchtime menu which left us all full. Definitely recommend for casual small groups.
I often use Bumpkin before going to see West Ham play at the London Stadium. It's a lively atmosphere and the waiting staff are very good. The menu has something for any omnivore but I'm not sure of vegetarian options. I tried something new this time, a mackerel salad, which was very nice from a salad perspective but totally inadequate in terms of the mackerel to complement it, three small pieces is quite miserly.
I would urge the management & chef to rethink the proportions and it could be a winner. I expressed my dissatisfaction at the time and an adjustment was made to the bill which was appreciated.
The main dining room was quite empty, which made for a pleasant meal, however, we weren't told of the items that weren't available until the we came to order. Staff were friendly, but a little overzealous in asking if we were enjoying our meal (about 3 times!, by two different waiting staff). Dessert was disappointing - clearly saw Birds custard being used in the kitchen; but really don't know why this wouldn't be made from scratch (it is a kitchen after all!).
Great service, delicious food (with a good selection). The restaurant was pretty quiet but with a warm atmosphere
Food was okay , service charge of 12% added to bill.
I advised I had a onion intolerance and ordered the vegetarian breakfast. Waiter said nothing had onion in the breakfast but when the food came the hash was missing. I'd not been advised and so not been given an alternative and charged the full price. I didn't want to cause a seen so didn't mention it.
We went on a Sunday so expected the Sunday menu but because we went before 12 noon, we had to have the breakfast menu.
The steak and Ale Pie was so delicious. Lunch time was so busy as expected for a Saturday . We had to remind them about our drink order. The food come before the drinks which was ok as it wasn't a long wait.
Potted crab good, smoked haddock & salmon fishcake good, buttered green beans disappointing (tough). Service friendly and helpful.
The food was good and the service sound at a very busy time
We were provided with everything we needed by a very friendly waitress
A most pleasant meal
Although the menu has been reduced, Bumpkins still offers an excellent choice from Steak and Ale Pie (with mash & gravy) to Cod and Chips and mussels. The staff are very friendly and contribute to an excellent ambience.
Really nIce staff, good house wine & menu is good value if using their 25% voucher. We found the crab pate too salty & not tasting at all of crab but main courses were all good, especially the beef rib braised in cider.
Have visited Bumpkin's a number of times and always enjoyed the experience. The service is excellent and the menu has a good choice of standard British fare.
This is now now my 3rd disappointing visit to Bumpkin Stratford out of 5 visits. I won’t make the same mistake again.
The main meal was near cold. Despite the restaurant only being 1/3 of its potential capacity. Being an open kitchen we were able to see the issue was not with the was not staff for service but the kitchen in the time it took to put the plate together.
Dessert was the worst - apple crumble with hard apples as they hadn’t taken the time needed to back the dish. But simply put the crumble on top and grill it. Lumpy and cold tinned custard accompanied this and the sticky toffee pudding. They were sent back and re done but for £6 a dessert in my opinion it shouldn’t of presented itself this way in the first place. Desserts were taken off the bill however not a place i would recommend for food wholesome hot food.
Beverley thought her gammon dish was excellent, Sultan thought the chicken was a tad dry. I however enjoyed the chicken but found the french fries cold. Sultan enjoyed her rum drink while Bev and I enjoyed the red wine, the waitress was very helpful in making our choice of drinks. The desserts were delicious as was the coffee. My main criticism is that it was so noisy it was difficult to hold a conversation.
Great food and good service had a lovely afternoon.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Went before the west ham home match.. ordered a full english at 11am and got the food at 11.50.. totally unacceptable... not enough staff and difficult to get hold off any one.. need to up their game
Very nice evening - lovely food - good value - nice atmosphere
Food was absolutely fantastic and high quality. However service very slow and prices steep
The food was excellent as was the service. The seating at one of the bench alcoves was very cramped and quite uncomfortable. Music was over loud but we were sitting under the speakers which are not well placed above tables. Excellent value and would go again but ask for a proper table away from the bass beat!!!!!!
Menu not what was online. It had been cut down considerably, leaving us struggling to find something that would adhere to our diets. That said, when the food arrived, it was very good, as was the service. But the room was so cold we had to keep our jackets on.
Will definitely be back soon
We met a friend here. She recommended a few local places and we chose Bumpkins. The menu was not extensive but there was something to suit us all and the food was well presented and well cooked. The wine was fine and we would certainly choose to return.
Good quality British classics at a reasonable price. A good addition to Stratford Westfield!
Seated quickly and food was good. Staff were friendly and helpful
Claimed not to have received my booking through Open Table, however after a short wait they did honour it as the confirm was on my phone. Good wholesome comfort food at sensible prices, however a disappointment as the menu was not anywhere near the same standard as Bumpkin at Chelsea and S. Ken (where I dine a few times a year).
Food was great. Service okay given it was a busy period. Not too long to get a table. Food better than avg. Overall would recommend and go again
I meet my friends for a catch up in Bumpkin. The restaurant was very well located, the stuff was very friendly and professional, we were treated like queens. The food was really tasty and we loved the quiet background music which allowed us a relaxed conversation we were hoping to have after a long time. We had a good time in Bumpkin!
Good food with friendly and attentive service.
The menu has a decent selection and the £5 cocktails were good. The food was nice but quite overpriced for what it was, but I guess that's what you get in Westfield. Service was fairly quick for food but slow for drinks despite it being pretty empty with lots of staff on, and there were only two of us. All in all not bad but could probably find better value elsewhere
Great food and value for money
We had a fabulous waitress called Angela who could not do enough for us
Six of us starters and main courses +2 drinks each, under £40 each
Would recommend and will be back shortly
