Bumpkin's Restaurant & Bar
During the spring and summer months, Bumpkins offers an outdoor dining experience on their terrace, complete with a view of Norman Jewison parkette. Distinct to the menu is a selection of masterfully conceived dishes ranging from the baked garlic butter escargot bourguignon to veal chop with mushrooms to the steamed fresh P.E.I mussels. All of the fine fair can be accompanied by a selection from the extensive cocktails and wine list.
Exceptional as always. Lychee martinis refreshing & yummy. House-baked buns fresh & warm. Smoked salmon appetizer flavourful & filling. The Artic Char was a major main course providing an exquisite palate of pleasurable tastes. And the crème brulee dessert - outstanding. My guests (whose meals were different in choice yet similar in quality) and I thoroughly enjoyed our time on this quiet, lovely street side patio. The service is equally exceptional - Angelo & Min are consummate hosts. Bumpkins is a memorable and marvelous restaurant experience. Well done. We will be back soon (indeed we made our next reservation before we left). M&M
fantastic service, fantastic food, great atmosphere
We are regulars at bumpkins. I remember when it first opened in the ‘70’s. Great food. The staff treat you like friends.
Maybe my new favourite restaurant in Toronto. Didn’t even know there was this level of food and service so close to Yonge & Bloor. Will definitely bring visitors to Bumpkin’s when I want them to have a great time.
Although I have been to Bumpkins several times for lunch, this was only my second visit for dinner. A friend of mine was visiting from Ottawa and I wanted to take her here for dinner and we both enjoyed it very much; everything, as always, was great.
I just wish that the scallops (best in Toronto) were on the lunch menu so that I could have them more often!
Food was excellent but inside a little dated. Service very good. Parking is tough, police ticket every car on the street after 7 PM unless you have a city permit.
Very enjoyable restaurant
We have dined here a few times and have never been disappointed - excellent service and food.
The food was delicious but I thought it was a little bland. After putting some salt, it was better.
Presentation was very good good.
Crêpes are mediocre. Looks like prepared crêpes, no béchamel sauce inside the crêpe as indicated on menu. They need to prepare their own cr^pes.
Salad, dressing, bread and coffee are excellent.
Lamb was not hot enough!!!
The restaurant was not busy but 2 guys who were not sitting together had a loud conversation between each other. Not interesting for us.
We really enjoyed our pre-theatre dinner recently at Bumpkins! The ambiance was very pleasant, the service excellent and the food delicious! We started with a deliciously creamy soup and fresh-baked buns, followed by sole for me and chicken parmesan for my husband. Both were delicious, and the roasted potatoes were just like my grandmother used to make. We had a lovely bottle of wine, coffee and shared a tartufo for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go back. Service was great, and we got to the theatre right on time!
Delightful dining experience. The highlight was the service. The food was great and the atmosphere/decor perfect!
Too hot, felt like hot air is blasting at you
I was looking for a nice place to have a meal before I proposed to my girlfriend. We were driving in from Buffalo and our reservation kept being moved back. By the time we got to the restaurant, we were the only customers there. Despite having to stay later, the service, atmosphere, and food was a perfect combination for an important evening. She said yes!
Excellent Xmas Day dinner
Top notch food and service.
Thoroughly enjoyed Bumpkin's.
Will return again.
I always enjoy lunch at Bumpkins, either alone, or with a guest. Bumpkins is open on Christmas Eve!
Was welcomed like a good friend yet was our first visit. They took care to seat me +my date in a quiet corner yet in good view to people watch.
Wine glass never was empty until the bottle was. Meal was terrific for carnavoire and veģan alike. Dining room was bright, easy to view +move. Though place was full we could still converse in whispers.
We will return.
High prices, food was ok at best. Beer list was an embarrassment for a city with so many local craft breweries. 100s of bottles of wine but extremely limited beer list. Steak was gristle and thin and overly garlicked. Mushrooms were meh.
What a wonderful environment!! The waiter was lots of fun. The food was amazing!!
A great hidden treasure not too far from the theatre - food and staff were great - service was fast - will definitely go again
This is the best restaurant in Toronto. I go there for the jelly beans. Great friendly service. I feel at home there. Will go back. Have been going there since 1979 when it was on Parliament Street.
Another great meai at Bumpkin's. Like usual the service was impeccabile, the food great, and the ambiance very relaxing. Recommend this restaurant to
Service was amazing we were stuck in traffic so we were late but really needed to eat before our show....they had us fed and out the door in a half an hour....we cant wait to go back for the full meal...the apps were amazing and just what we needed....we will be back
As usual, our dining experience at Bumpkin’s was excellent. Food was great, service was amazing in all respects. The decor and ambience inside the Restauraunt is wonderful and keeps the historical feel.
Bumpkins is one of my favourite restaurants
Service was very good as delicious was the food, for a Saturday evening, the place was very quiet and we enjoyed talking between friends.
Beautiful restaurant in a less than desirable neighbourhood. Scallops though plentiful were pale and visually unappealing, bland tasting. My nieces steak was tough and overdone. Service was very good.
Great food. Great service. Loved that they had gluten free bread for my husband. We will go back!
We had a terrific time. This is a beautiful restaurant. Glad we found this place. Staff was friendly (and funny). The food was delicious. The is great place if you're downtown.
Lovely dinner with friends before the theatre.
Had a great time at Bumpkins. The service was attentive and the food very good. We would definitely return.
We were celebrating Father's Day in the restaurant. Being the first time, we ordered escargots and calamari as appertizers. They were both delicious. The freshly baked bread went so well with the garlic butter from the escargots. At first, my son was a bit hesitate to try the escargots, but once he had the first one, he kept asking for more!
Amazing service and food!
This hidden gem is a long time fixture downtown. The service is outstanding and the menu is extensive. The interior is not crowded and reflective of a French theme. The patio is relaxing as it has its' own waterfall feature and is located on a quiet street just steps to busy Yonge Street.
Mediocre experience. My own fault. I believed the reviews. Staff are nice. This place is stuck in the 80’s very very overpriced for mediocre food. Place was empty on a sat night.. very telling
Nice dinner for Mother’s Day
Terrific atmosphere and very fast service. Our waiter forgot to bring us a shared appetizer but then made up for it by comping our dessert. I found the wine list a touch limited, but overall we had a very enjoyable time and I would go back again anytime I'm in the area (e.g., to see a play at the CAA Theatre).
Our total experience was great. We were greeted and served by friendly efficient staff. We were given a table of our choosing by the fireplace and away from a group dinner. Our food and wine was excellent. Bumpkins is a great dining experience.
The staff were very accommodating as we arrived with 9 people when the reservation was for 8. They were very friendly and the service and food were great! Requests for changes to food selections were made willingly.
