Butlers Wharf Chop House Restaurant
Our spacious, airy restaurant is a glowing tribute to a traditional English boating house or cricket pavilion with oak-lined walls and comfortable solid seating. In finer weather the doors can be opened on to the riverside terrace providing al fresco dining with the best view of Tower Bridge.View Private Dining Details
Waitor was non existent. Seamed very short staffed. Sat without drinks for a lot of our meal. Got the filet, medium rare and it was burnt. Just bad flavor all around for the price. Mushrooms were the highlight of the dinner.
One of our party did not get their first main choice. The rib-eye steak was juicy and flavoursome but very salty. Over priced White wines and impatient table service. Overall we felt it was quite pricey for the overall experience we had received. Great view of tower bridge
Great location and atmosphere. An expensive night and thought that “Mocktail” at £9.50 was too much!!
Made to feel very welcome with great food and value for money, was celebrating my wedding anniversary couldn't have wished for better. Thank you!
Good food and set menu is generally good value. The £8 supplement for the steak is quite a lot, think £5 would be more reasonable. Nice to be able to sit outside and service was good, free icecream and fizz for my birthday was a nice touch!
Great service great location reasonably priced
Food Luke warm otherwise good
Wonderful meal and they even brought out birthday ice cream for the occasion. Great service, will hurry back.
Very poor service. My roast pork when it finally arrived was a tiny piece of meat and what looked like a piece of leftover. I complained to the manager who agreed it was small but said it was a normal portion. He then brought me a couple of slices of beef and said there was no more pork. This would explain the tiny portion. He deducted my meal from the bill but then we got charged for 2 bottles of wine instead of 1. Our waiter was very poor and service was bad which considering the cost and having dined here numerous times was disappointing. The only bright thing was the professionalism from the manager who dealt with not just ours but another 3 complaints and looked totally embarrassed but acted in a way far better than the staff.
Been here before, a couple of times. Always found it to be a great venue and location. Food is good and service usually very good.
On this occasion, service was poor. They had a small function on, so the bar area was closed. A little disappointing that this wasn’t mentioned when booking as we were looking forward to a pre-lunch drink. Reception was chilly, no acknowledgement that we were surprised the bar was closed. Reception remained chilly. Staff were distinctly inattentive for the majority of our lunch. This experience has put me off rushing back now.
We booked the restaurant for our friends birthdays and the staff made them feel really special saying happy birthday to them upon arrival and then singing happy birthday to them at the table. Overall a really lovely night. Thanks to the staff who made the night that little bit more special for us.
Great night! Fab food!
Arrived early and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The service and food was great
The set meal was delicious & great value. Will certainly go again
Horrible!!! Avoid!!! Service is lousy and the food is tasteless, cold, and inedible. Wish this were an exaggeration. We told the waiters, the general manager, etc. We paid only for the wine that we drank while waiting FOREVER to get any food!!! There are much better restaurants that actually serve food and drink, like a restaurant, along the River.
The chophouse is a wonderful venue set beside the River Thames, whilst you gaze at Tower Bridge. Unfortunately the food didn’t match up to the wonderful setting and I would highly recommend you don’t choose the butchers steak, which is actually a piece of flank which is far too tough to be served at such a classy restaurant.
That said, the staff were really lovely and in fact took the steak off my bill even though I didn’t ask them to, so definitely worth a visit but avoid the butchers steak!
Foods good fish and chips amazing
We had a lovely meal and evening with friends. Food was very good . We had an outside table with views of Tower Bridge. Great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Dinner for 2, on the Evening Standard Menu.
Positives: Food, location (waiting for an outside table is worth it), value for money
Negatives: Being treated like a 2nd class citizen for ordering off the Evening Standard Menu
Conclusion: I removed the service charge, explaining my concerns to the waiter in question. He apologized and took it on board. I would return with faith this was a one off.
Four of us at the table having three courses for an evening meal, mid-week. Three ordered steak (flank, medium rare) for the main dish. Two were good, but mine was tough and I had to send it back and had a curry instead. Remaining courses and wine (Rose Pinot Noir) were fine. They did not charge for one main meal, which was kind. Service is good but not engaging. Not rushed to leave, so the 'two hour rule' was not applied in our case. Atmosphere is good, but on the noisy side, so for someone whose hearing is not great in crowds, listening to the person on the other side of the table was challenging at times.
We had to wait for everything - waiting for our seats was totally understandable, but after we were seated, everything took too long, even though it was after 8pm on Wednesday. Water - 15 mins, Food - more than an hour, Additional order - didn't come out until we told three different waiters for more than 3 times. And the food was way below average. Steak was cold and overcooked (we ordered Medium but it was way over well-done), pork chops were too salty. The most frustrating thing was that every time we needed something, we had to ask at least twice to get it. Good location and view was great, and had reasonable price compared to other restaurants nearby, but I'd rather eat elsewhere than wait more than an hour only to get low quality food.
Just eaten tonight with a friend , venue is great right on the Thames the staff are great as was the service
Food average smoked salmon starter fine good size not much can go wrong with that
Grilled baby chicken breast was dry and over cooked the chicken must have been already cooked then put on bbq to reheat and colour, green sauce with chicken was very good , Green beans and mash sides all good
Dessert was lemon tart, pastry much too thick , bases probably bought in and filled, filling was too sweet classic lemon tart should be sharp, all served with a very sweet coulis and for some strange reason and over power salty tasty after
Have to say staff where very good and 3 courses plus drinks and including service £50 a head in the city actually not bad value but food is average
Lovely lunch by the river with my husband Great views across the river, lovely food and excellent service
Food was good but service incredibly slow. The waiter advised that they were under staffed and he was training others.
We were there for nearly 30 minutes before drinks were served and waited almost an hour for cold starters.
When the food arrived it was good and I love that part of the river so ambience perfect.
Just a shame we had to wait so long and it did feel like we were inconveniencing the waiter when we asked him how much longer!
Gosh this place is slow! The drinks we ordered when we were given the menus finally arrived after the starters. We'd been sat there over an hour before the main course arrived. No one came to ask if we wanted more drinks and they asked if we wanted desserts after another hour. The room was half full - it'd hate to think how long you have to wait to eat when they're busy. The staff were very friendly and the food was wonderful but I'm not sure about a second visit.
This was a wonderful discovery. It is situated right on the River Thames, with wonderful views of Tower Bridge. We wanted to celebrate a birthday with the family and this was perfect. I can't fault this restaurant. For those who arrived early, there was a guitarist to listen too. Our coats were hung in a cloakroom and we had a lovely round table for the nine of us, which made it much easier to speak to everyone than being on a long table. The food was really tasty and the portions were just right. All the staff were so lovely.
There is a good choice on the menu. My pea and mint soup was served hot as I requested and my sea bream was perfectly cooked.
It's about a ten minute walk to London Bridge Station. It was nice to walk after the meal, even though it was raining.
Great food, great view of Tower Bridge. I would highly recommend for a nice lunch.
great food and good outdoor location overlooking Tower Bridge..
Attentive staff. Just ok Sunday roast
Slow sow slow service but good food when it eventually came.
Great choice of delicious food. Staff were very attentive & informative about various options. Wine is somewhat over priced.
Fantastic location, great ambiance.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would return to dine in the near future.
The food was cooked to our liking and waiters we had were very attentive.
Great location, right on the river Thames with perfect views of Tower Bridge. With its outside seating and floor to ceiling windows, was perfect for a hot Summer's night. Food was very good and service fast and friendly.
Great table and attentive staff. Thx again!!
Great food and service, lovely location
Lovely evening with friends overlooking the river Thames with stunning views of Tower Bridge.
Started with Crab on toast and the Rib Eye steak with chips and creamed spiniach.
Steak cooked to perfection, food served piping hot and service was friendly and attentive.
Kirchen our of order. Long waiting. Then overcooked dry aged steak. Forgotten to bring sauce and green beans. When they came, it was cold
Had a nice evening, cocktails at the bar and dinner followed. The restaurant and views of tower bridge are wonderful. A couple of staff really stood out, one chap at the bar and the lady that served us made so much effort and were very warm and welcoming, the rest of the service was pretty slow and disjointed between areas. The food was fair for the price, but nothing special.
Started with no one to greet at the desk. After waiting for a while were shown to the table. The waiter was polite but not very attentive.
Food was over 80 minutes late for which they apologised. The lobster was over cooked and the hollandaise was split. Had to send the sauce back.
Had ordered tonic water which arrived after the plates were cleared 2 hours after we sat down. They didn’t charge for that.
The ambience is great extremely corporate and loud. Not good for date nights and occasions.
We left thankful that at least the coat check didn’t mess up.
Great food, service, & location... but it’s LOUD!!! Could use some sound attenuation .
