Butlers Wharf Chop House Restaurant
Our spacious, airy restaurant is a glowing tribute to a traditional English boating house or cricket pavilion with oak-lined walls and comfortable solid seating. In finer weather the doors can be opened on to the riverside terrace providing al fresco dining with the best view of Tower Bridge.View Private Dining Details
Service was very slow even though the restaurant only had 2 or 3 tables occupied. The Rare breed smoked pork chop was so salty it was almost inedible. The staff were friendly and communicated well. Bit of a disappointment.
great food, the lemon tart was amazing . Bit quiet on a saturday afternoon
We had a lovely meal and always really enjoy dining here. Unfortunately they had such a busy lunch time session for Mother’s Day that that had sold out of many options by dinner time.
Excellent food and service
The food was amazing and the service was faultless, the attention we was given and even referred to by name made us feel special. We shall be back
Great food, great steak specifically and great services
Food was amazing but came out rather cold
Excellent lunch today, I had a very well seasoned steak which was delicious accompanied by perfectly cooked chips. My client said it's one of the best steaks he's had so definitely a business lunch success here! The General Manager Danny does a fantastic job with his team to deliver such a great experience!
The service was excellent
Good food. The restaurant was incredibly quiet for a Friday night. This did mean fast efficient service. Almost too efficient as main very quickly followed starter which made it feel a bit rushed. But the food was really good.
Great service, food was excellent, well seasoned, nice views.
Excellent service and food
Came here about 5 years ago and the food was great... 5 years later and the food is still great!
Pleasant location but the reception area is rather drab and unwelcoming. You rather feel you're walking in the back entrance not the front. Friendly staff but considering they were no where near full the service was generally underwhelming.
We were not demanding by any measure but the food was good but prices are very top end especially the vegetable at £4.50 per serving per person. for a table of seven that's £63 pounds on vegetables. We were told we needed one per person but not sure that was quite the case.
My dessert wine was served with black bits floating in it. I was with clients so no wanting to create a scene I left it.
The service was fair. Our food was a bit disappointing-the plaice was slightly oily and I did not like it very much. The dessert was also fair. I expected more taste and a more exciting menu after reading reviews.
Our food and wine came before the drinks we ordered which slightly ruined the experience
I eat here a lot / live round the corner. A great local spot. Good menu varieties whilst keeping the old favourites
The Butlers Wharf has amazing views of Tower Bridge and is situated on the waterfront.
The food we had was excellent, cooked well, nice wine and attentive service. The decor and seating are slightly bland and dated for compared to rival restaurants but other than that very good.
We went for my boyfriends birthday meal. The cocktail I had was lovely. Very impressed the layout was great. Lovely food and wine. Would definitely go back and recommend. Would like to try the other chop houses though. The view was fab, so very good for a special occasion. The only downside was that my boyfriend thought the steak we ordered wasn't the correct weight as advertised and to be honest 550g is a lot of meat and steak is filling but I agreed with him, I could have had more, which is unlike me. There might have been less on our board perhaps.
When my boyfriends dessert came out with the happy birthday writing on, there was no candle, which would have been nice, so his family could have sung to him. I feel the service charge was pretty steep also. The restaurant was very busy, but my brother in law ran out of wine and wondered where our bottle had been put.
I have to add the steak was amazing and my mother in law said it was the best she's had in ages.
It was my companion's 30th birthday and I made a note in the reservation. The staff were so thoughtful to greet us at our arrival and to have happy birthday written on the dessert. The food was very good but the service made the whole experience memorable.
The food was decidedly average to poor. They need to look up definition of cottage pie as mine was like a soup covered with thin layer of mash.
I was there to celebrate my 60th birthday with 5 friends and we all had amazing food, great service and a fabulous evening!!!
Repas en famille pour fêter notre séjour à Londres. Lieu avec superbe vue sur le Tower Bridge. Pour ce qui aime la viande cet endroit est un bon conseil. Personnel sympa et flexible pour accommoder des souhaites individuelles.
The professional at the chophouse is out of this world all the way from reservations emailing back-and-forth from the states to the UK to the overall experience of having New Year’s Eve and one of the most beautiful places exceptional exceptional exceptional
Service, food, ambiance...everything was outstanding.
Service was very good though food average. The waiter made a point of asking if we had any dietary allergies, but the food itself though pleasant enough was not quite as described on the menu. Atmosphere very nice.
Christmas Eve dinner at Butlers Wharf Chop House exceeded all expectations. The wine and drink menus complimented the food menus. The service was excellent, the food selections wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. Would definitely recommend.
As is usual, our visit to The Chop House was enjoyed by all.
Steaks were great as usual but the braised beef shin was predominantly sinew and fat with very little meat, shame really.
We dine here regularly. Wonderful...service remains erratic
Wonderful place to meet with friends and know they will love this venue
Once again a great meal. Hearty Brit food and great steaks.
A decent option for pre-theate near the Bridge Theatre. Food was well cooked, service was friendly and we will book again at some stage.
Went there for our wedding anniversary. Excellent food, great service, special thanks to the waiter Carmine who was very attentive.
What a great dining experience!
All four of said we would return again ASAP
The service was excellent and the three courses were superb.
Absolutely LOVE this place - live just around the corner and the staff always make you feel so welcome, and go above and beyond to make your visit an enjoyable one. My partner and I both had fillet steaks, cooked to perfection; smokey and slightly charred on the outside, and ridiculously tender and pink on the inside. I have been lucky to have many steaks in my time, but Butlers Wharf Chop house gets it right again and again... and so we will continue to return again and again!
I would also recommend the Chapel Down Prosecco - Britain's answer to champagne!
I have to say that there was so many issues, I could not possibly recommend. Firstly there was an issue with the table, that was resolved swiftly. None of us could put our coats in the cloakroom as it was full. Had to ask to be served. Ordered a soda and lime. When drinks delivered, I was informed they had run out of lime and wanted to give just the soda. I then had to order a different drink, which I never received and had to chase. My husband ordered Monkfish, the server then came back a while later and advised that they had run out and my husband had to re-order. Food when arrived was not complete, the server had left a side dish on the side behind us. We had to ask for it. We asked for condiments, again did not receive all what we asked for (2 requested, one received). All night long we had to ask for drinks, I constantly asked for no ice and every time I was given a glass with ice in, the wrong type of 'coke' was also delivered at times, they did not know what 'Pernod' was. We asked for two glasses of port with a cheeseboard. The cheeseboard arrived, but not the port. Then when drinks finally arrived it was two glasses of dessert wine. which had to be taken away and we re-asked for the port. This did not arrive again. We spoke with the server and advised that there had been a number of mistakes and the service was generally poor and cancelled the port as no longer wanted. Within a minute later (fastest service we had received all night) we were given the port 'free of charge' and as a gesture of god will the server removed the cost of the cheeseboard. The bill arrived and 'the soda' was still charged. Whilst these are no major issues and some could be easily forgiven, there are far too many issues overall throughout the night. It is probably the poorest service I have received at a restaurant in years and running out of food and drink and not knowing is not really acceptable from a restaurant like the 'chop house' Very disappointing.
The food is amazing however never had to wait nearly 2 hours for a meal when the restaurant isn't full...seemed to be the general feeling across the restaurant which was a shame as the food was delicious but sitting at 8pm and eating just after 10pm was less than ideal with visiting family. Mentioned this to the staff who weren't too forthcoming with empathy or explanation. Would love to go back but hesitant given the circumstances and more so how it was handled.
