Another very enjoyable meal. Good size portions, good flavours and good value for money. Staff were very attentive. Love the seafood sharing platter.
We loved the set up in the restaurant instead of being in one large room. We enjoyed choosing some options from the grazing menu as it was just like abroad . We enjoyed the experience very much and when we are in Norfolk again we would certainly dine there again.
Usually stay at 4/5 Star Hotels and consider this posh B&B outstanding value for money. Staff always happy and appeared delighted to serve you. Food great although portions could be smaller. Rooms very comfortable. One of the nicest touches was fresh milk with complimentary tea/coffee.Would definitely return. Only cause for dissatisfaction was loud music ( sitting under speaker) and repetitive type music.
Superbly cooked food and something on menu to suit everyone. Although we didn't choose this from the menu I liked the way you could create your own pizza. If we'd stayed there longer we'd have chosen this option. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Lots of attention to detail with the ability to cater for casual dining and celebrations too. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. We had one lunch and two dinners, in addition to breakfast for the two days. Not one bad meal - excellent!
Good choice of food superbly cooked. Although we settled for one of the 'set' meals I thought it was good that you could create your own pizza toppings if you wished to or add to the basic pasta meal. Lovely ambience, courteous and friendly staff - couldn't fault it.
Everything was excellent. Have been to Byfords for lunch many times, but never in the evening. It was lovely and calm and the free nibbles was a lovely touch. The Belly pork dish was the best I have ever tasted and look forward to popping in again as live local.
Excellent service and great food. Well done to all
Very impressed dined with my wife on Saturday evening. The food was great and the staff were very good. Thanks all at Byfords for a fantastic evening.
We dined at Byfords on Saturday and Sunday evening. On both occasions the service was first class, very friendly and efficient staff provided an extremely pleasant dining experience. The menu was varied and upmarket without being overpriced.
Saturday evening was quite lively with a constant stream of customers requesting tables. Sunday was much quieter providing a different but thoroughly enjoyable experience in an attractive and interesting venue.
We have no hesitation in recommending Byfords in the town of Holt and hope to visit again next time we are in the area.
If you have an enormous appetite or like stuffing yourself to the gunnels Byfords restaurant is for you. The food quality is very good but the volumes are excessive leading to a disturbing amount of waste, at least from our table. Perhaps the locals must have such large portions if they are to feel they are getting value for money but for our table from Colchester some of the meal sizes were just too big.
We've been to Byford's several times, always a good experience. Service is always with a smile and yes I would highly recommend .
Easy to book using open table website, arrived and we were shown to a table near the door, we asked to move to alternative table as didn't want cold air every time door opened. The waitress offered us a different table. The portions were very generous. It suggested 2 tapas type starters per person but one tapas would have been enough. I had the mussels and fries which was a bit heavy on the cream and needed more wine as very rich. My husband had steak which came with an individual steak suet steam pudding and was very big portion but he enjoyed it . We didn't have room for dessert . Overall very good service and food
I ordered a chicken supreme for my wife, which was fine, no problem. I ordered a Beef salad for myself , which was to say the least, a little on the tough side. The strips of beef did have a few too many strips with gristle and were uneatable.
We have stopped at Byfords several times & always have good memories
Third visit in a week and food is consistently high quality. Portions are large but can get expensive. Very busy Friday evening and staff couldn't really cope. Avoid the back room where we were put. Noisy and invisible
Byfords was recommended by a friend and she was not wrong, it is excellent.
Delicious food served by friendly staff in delightful surroundings.
A lovely place to enjoy a snack or meal, with a wide range of quality food choices
Staff always attentive and polite. A credit to Byfords. A high standard, that sets the benchmark for the area.
Byfords exceeded my expectations. The staff were exceedingly helpful and always cheerful. Breakfast was excellent and dinner menu contained sufficient choice for all tastes.
Byfords was very comfortable with a homely atmosphere. The food was delicious, well prepared and well presented and it was good value.
Excellent evening - apart from the rude man on the adjoining table, which we realise is not your fault.
Lovely place but service was very slow. We have eaten at Byfords several times, but I thought the food was slightly below par on this occasion. 3 out of 4 main courses were not finished.
Beautiful old building. Lovely menu and very good service. What not to like?
Excellent food and reasonably priced. Accommodation good as well being located in the centre of the town.
All round excellent. I already have recommended Byfords to friends, and we came back the next day to try the pastries and pasties.
Enjoyed a lovely anniversary meal recommended by staff at our caravan site - lovely food and service will definitely return.
Great service withveryattentiveand friendly waitress. The free nibbles is a very nice touch
Food under par but ok for a quick bite.
I had the Chicken supreme which was very disappointing, no sauce which I found surprising so had to ask for some, this came almost as I’d finished the meal.
Seats not particularly comfortable for the five of us as squeezed in the corner on benches. Overall not somewhere I would rush back to.
Excellent service, very patient with the 3 of us who took ages making our choices as we were so busy chatting!!! The food was excellent. Despite being last ones in the restaurant in no way did we feel rushed.
Thoroughly recommend it.
Brilliant meal served by very competent staff who were helpful in every way possible. I would thoroughly recommend anyone visiting Holt to pay Byfords a visit but would recommend booking. Thanks again
Very helpful staff. Fantastic ambiance and food, what more could you ask for?
Grazing options were really delicious. Good variety of food and everyone left stuffed and happy.
Magnificent- unable to find fault- great place for our family
Very romantic setting. Fantastic staff. Very enjoyable mocha milkshake and the halloumi courgette fritters are to die for. They did get my order wrong but it didn't matter. I picked off the toppings I didn't want and it was still nice!
Really enjoyed our meal tonight - lovely waiting staff, friendly and efficient.
Like the comp nibbles (nuts, olives, bread) idea
Sharing starter was ‘ok’ (calamari)
Our mains were v good. Chicken curry and Crispy duck leg with beans. Both generous portions and tasty.
One coffee, one peppermint tea.
Carafe of Picpoul.
Really not expensive (£55 incl Norfolk P’port discount).
The quality of the food and the range on the menu was not good. Particularly being 10 mile from Cromer and they had no crab, my first main course choice.
The B&B was good, including the breakfast, but dinner very disappointing.
I was very disappointed by the level.of service and care in the cafe and if u have a dietary requirement forget it, the care is less than acceptable and food choices very poor, considering the way too big normal menus! I have emailed the b and b separately about this. Disappointed to a high level is how i feel.
My partner was raving about Byfords after visiting with a friend. We visited before watching some entertainment in a local pub. Service was well pitched, friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The food was excellent, with a varied and interesting menu and presented well. Membership of the Norfolk Passport meant it was a very reasonable place to visit. Will definitely be visiting again!
We visit Byfords whenever we are on holiday. Outstanding food and service.
lovely food, service at the table was good, noise was a little loud due to proximity of another full table, but this didn't stop us from having a lovely time overall.
