Café Bella Maria is a warm, welcoming and relaxing step away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria. Tucked away in Grosvenor Place, a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace Road and The Palace, you won’t find a cozier, more charming cafe in London. It’s a treasure to find, and a little place that has a well-earned reputation and fame for its delicious home cooked food.
You are in for a treat!
Bella Maria's vintage style and shabby chic feel is comfy and inviting. Take a seat in the lounge and you'll be served with a warm smile and a lovely pot of tea, or freshly made coffee in a delicate English china cup and saucer. If you've got time, stay a while and sample some of the many delights from the menu, all lovingly prepared and beautifully presented on your own very individual plate.
Service a bit slow but good value
Nice place. Nice service. Menu included great options for breakfast which is why we chose it. Lots of other places only cater to afternoon tea on Sunday so I was lucky to find this gem centrally located in the city with reasonable prices. Will definitely return.
Perfectly charming traditional cafe. Very well located for all things Royal and Afternoon tea.
Unfortunately, when we got to the cafe, they "didn't have" our reservation, and we were told it "was a problem when they had large groups". Some organized group was sitting inside and filled several tables. I'm guessing they prefer the business from the organized groups, but in any case, we didn't get to dine there.
The place is very cute, service with a polite smile!!
A great stop for breakfast for us.
Reserved table and it was all waiting for us.
Lovely breakfast...pot of tea superb
Waitress could have shown a smile which would have given this 5 stars for service!
Would use again due to location and price and the loveliness inside-very quirky but some staff could just do with some customer service training when competing with others in the area for business as people may not return or recommend to others based on this
really friendly staff, nice ambience - three generations. Good food and reasonable prices. Will come again as easy for Victoria station and food range good.
We love supporting independently owned establishments and this one was wonderful. Intimate and quirky, a very comfortable environment making us feel welcome. The veggie omelette was made with fresh ingredients, the size of my entire plate and served with two thick slices of a delicious multi grain bread. The cranberry and brie panini was a generous size, very flavorful and included fresh spinach leaves. This is a not to be missed spot.
We were looking for breakfast near Victoria: lots of choice, great coffee, good portions . Set my wife and I up for a conference nearby .
Lovely cafe just around the corner from Buckingham Palace. It has a lovely eclectic mix of tables, chairs, teapots, cups and saucers. A very cosy atmosphere, we had a voucher for a cream tea but also had a delicious tuna panini. I would recommend a visit if you are the area.
Nice cafe with lovely shabby chic decor. Panini and omelettes are not going to be wildly exciting but both were tasty enough. Good selection of teas and other drinks. Better value than other places round Victoria. Pleasant waiting staff.
Lovely little hidden gem in Victoria with good solid cafe fare and a relaxed English country cottage feel to it.
Great hidden gem in Victoria. Causal atmosphere and good wholesome british cafe fare
Great homemade soup. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and respite from busy surroundings.
Chose this cafe because of good reviews on trip advisor for a surprise birthday lunch for my husband. The cafe is decorated nicely and the food was tasty. The staff (understandably busy) were not very efficient, friendly or attentive and took around 20 minutes to take a drinks order, another 20 minutes to bring it over and almost 45 minute wait for food (panninis and soup). The location is good for visiting Buckingham palace and convenient for Victoria station but I wouldn't be rushing back here.
It is very quaint and although the menu is not extensive, the quality is excellent, and they will adjust things for your taste. The staff are friendly and efficient. Attention to detail in the decor make it a really interesting little gem of a place. Te tables are close together so there is a bit of jostling as people come and go, but this did not ruin our experience.
A typical English decoration with very nice food, jacket potatoes are my favorite, and in center of Victoria but cosy and quite quiet.
Booked our table for 9 in advance as its not a very large cafe but service and food was great. Great location a few minutes walk from Buckingham Palace. Would certainly return when in London again.
amazing scones. great value. cute space. I'd come back for sure.
A small, friendly cafe with character. Plain, good value food. A good menu so long as you want something straightforward. Be aware that on-line reservations are a myth! Use the phone.
I booked a reservation online but when we arrived there was no reservation. I was told by the waitress/host that to her knowledge they don't do online reservations. We were seated but we were not acknowledged for 15 minutes. At that point I found a waitress as I thought perhaps only counter service was provided. She promptly took our order. The food was good and there were vegetarian/vegan options available (more than in most London cafés). It is a cute, quirky little cafe. The location is very close to Buckingham Palace. If you are touring the palace and grounds, this location is a nice option. Personally, I would try them again....maybe they were having a bad day.
Closes at 5pm so better not to book a table at 4pm otherwise a great place away from all the hussle!
Cute little cafe which serves a limited menu. More of a tea shop than a restaurant, easy to pop in and grab a bite but the food is a bit dated, both the menu and presentation. The cakes looked delicious.
This place is very comfy and makes you feel like you're at home. The prices are very reasonable, too. So far I've gone there for afternoon tea but I will definitely try the dishes there.
cosy little cafe in victoria which is a rare find. food was good but bit pricey for the portion served
I made a reservation through OpenTable, I received a reminder and confirmation before I arrived in London. We ran through busy Victoria trying to find the place as we did not want to be late for our booking and the theatre show finished later than I expected. Imagine my annoyance to arrive and find the place was locked up tables on chairs. No sign on the door showing their opening times. I will never be using OpenTable again.
Not sure why this place has such a high score. May be because it's not expensive. But the food is very basic - more "English" than Italian if you like.
We had an excellent Saturday lunch for four here. Decor is colourful and proto-rustic. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Drinks and food came quickly. The special salad was fresh and delicious. Good white wine, reasonably priced. Strong tasty coffee and good lemon drizzle cake. Busy enough to feel fun but not heaving. We lingered over our coffee and felt no pressure to consume more. We will return.
Very happy that I looked on Open Table for places to eat near Victoria station. This was a real "find". I have just started working in the area so knew nowhere to take my brother for lunch. This place is perfect. We both said it was like being transported far away from the frantic madness that is London and into a nice serene, peaceful space. Food was simple but very good and will definitely keep going back
There's a nice shambolic atmosphere about this place that goes for the quirky decor without the sense that some marketing bod has had a hand in it. Service is pleasant and unobtrusive whilst the breakfast (I had the full English) though perhaps a tad smaller than this hungry lad is used too was spot on to set me up for the day.
We made a fairly large group booking here. The staff handled it excellently, and were very friendly and accommodating. The cafe itself is very charming, beautifully decorated and with fresh flowers. The hot foods and the cakes were great - the scones and cream, not so much. This is a cafe that I will be coming back to more than once, I'm sure!
We visited this cafe for brunch on a Saturday morning. It looked like an Italian cafe from the outside but it was beautifully decorated inside - it looked like an English tea room inside. The decor is shabby chic with mismatched furniture but is attractive with plenty of room between tables. It had a slightly warming vitage feel to it. The full English breakfast was good quality and value for money, prepared and served by delightful staff. Good, flavoursome food with a wide selection to choose from. All the food was freshly prepared and the staff were hospitable, friendly and welcoming.
