Great French menu , well paced service. Great for pre theatre dinner. Good selection of cocktails and friendly fly staff.
Had a lovely meal at Cafe Boheme in between parts one and two of the Harry Potter play. Enjoyed the food which was the usual decent quality. I had a Chicken Liver Pate for starter which I felt could have been improved by the addition of some chutney. For mains it was a bavette steak for me and a cheeseburger for the child. Both tasty.
The only slight issue I had was the volume of noise. Both my son and I are slightly hard of hearing and struggled to speak much to each other with the background noise. Suited him as it meant he could just continue to look at his mobile phone - teenagers! But I would have liked it to be a slightly more conversational level of noise.
Anyway always happy to visit Cafe Boheme and will no doubt be back again in the future.
Thought we would be going to a classic french brasserie. Decor gives you the impression but that’s where it ends.
Table felt grubby and sticky. Croque Monsieur was greasy and only half cooked (literally only grilled on one side with unpleasantly bechamel) soup oily, tasteless and inedible. Chips best part but they were cold when arrived.
Go for a drink if you’re going to the theatre opposite but don’t bother eating.
Great Pre-theatre dinner with our children. Lovely cosy atmosphere and great value food. The staff were lovely too.
Well-situated in Soho. The restaurant gives you Parisian vibes.
Overall I would say that our experience was ok, but few things a little annoying:
- too much noise, depending on where you're seated you'll have to shout to speak with your friends.
- service, very friendly but had to ask few times for the same thing. The team seemed overwhelmed by these tables and I feel for them.
Food was good, if you're french, It's "bistro" food, not too fancy just what you need but a little overpriced for what it is. Team tried their best to accommodate and be available besides being in charged of 1000 tables lol.
Good food and good service. I would certainly recommend.
Excellent meal good choice on the menu particularly fish. Service friendly just a little noisy from guitar player in the bar. We were looking for romantic meal. Very handy for prince edward theatre. Best to book ahead
Great atmosphere with blues band playing. Served quickly and food and wine great.
dependable as ever
does not need a review that is at least 50 characters in length
Great food, service and atmosphere - one of my favourites in London
Lovely atmospheric place , great service - just really loud
The fixed price 3 course early dinner was a bargain. The food was beautiful and you could choose from almost anything from the a la carte menu. We sat at the back of the restaurant where it was a little quieter. Candlelit tables & jazz drifting though, there was a really lovely ambience. Loved everything about it.
This place looks and sounds great, and the service was fine. But the food was flavourless. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.
I had the spinach and barley soup which had no discernible flavour. Either the chef didn't taste it, doesn't know what flavour is, or doesn't care - not sure which is worse. I would normally have sent it back but we were in a rush to get to the theatre so I just chucked a load of salt and pepper in. The cod main course was ok but unremarkable.
Nice ambiance of a French cafe. Food is good and fair for the price. Service was good at start but from the main we never seen anyone until the bill. I think our waitress end her shift during our meal that what explain the best service at first and then nothing.
Food was simple and great. Noise level was very loud but i guess it was a Friday night.
Love love love this restaurant amazing ambience fabulous food what more can you ask for! So glad it’s back open
GOOD LOCATION FOR THE THEATRE OPPOSITE. Very Noisy and crammed in tables. Service mostly good. Beef Bourguignon not proper, a slab of uncut beef with remains of source over top. Was asked when I ordered it if I would prefer a chicken dish which I thought was odd then I realised why! It was not very good at all.
Very expensive overall which was mostly the over priced wine! Also told we had to be gone in two hours, had I known that when I booked I would not have booked!
Perfect place for a get together. Everything was good apart from the temperature but the weather had been mild.
London perennial. Perfect pit stop. Been dining here for 28 years. Never fails.
I took a couple of elderly friends for lunch two days ago. We had a fantastic lunch, good food and such exceptional service. One of my friends has some severe allergies which was not only catered for perfectly but we are very careful about food.
The apple tart dessert was a particular highlight, as was the onion soup.
The most important thing in the service industry is to make every customer feel that they are not just valued but remembered from their last visit, if that is the case, recognised and really warmly welcomed with some relevant comments on possibly their hopefully comic behaviour.
This was the scenario on our last visit. Embarrassed...yes mildly, but fondly remembered... Yes.
Well done to all of the Staff. Thank you.
Service was good. Lovely restaurant. Steak was very small.
Lunch on a busy Saturday was perhaps not the best time to judge, but all the same it was very noisy and difficult to have a conversation. My steak was perfect, the mussels were good and the vegan options were good too - if a little limited in choice. None of us liked our desserts much. The service was very good and the atmosphere wonderfully French. Definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic very lively Soho restaurant bar. Really handy for nearby post theatre dinner. Extremely popular and busy so noise level is very high especially on a weekend night. But great staff, service and simple but exquisite food transcends any concerns. Fully recommend.
Food was excellent, staff were friendly, knowledgeable and hard working. Overall a lovely dining experience
Great ambience, decent food but variable service. Liked the Sunday afternoon band playing and my mussels were great. Maybe we just got the waitress on a bad day, but she was not very attentive.
Unbelievable service, the staff are truly out of this world and are a credit to their work place.
Great fresh produce
It does the job, but nothing special.
Fairly noisy if you want to catch up with friend. Food v average
Fast service for pre theatre, lovely ambience, tasty food, good value
Been to Cafe Boheme a few times now and our first try of the menu formule. My friends beef stew was a bigger success than my duck. I felt the latter was pre cooked (apologies if not) and whilst edible left me underwhelmed. Yes I would go again as it is more intimate than several places in the same area though I cannot help with a bit more effort...... Service was fine and at £21 each for a plat + side and 2 coffees (no booze) on a similar price point than say Balans and Old Compton Brasserie.
Went for a meal pre theatre . Perfect location as theatre just opposite. Food and value for money was excellent had 2 course for £15 . It felt like we were in a traditional Parisian restaurant a great find . will definitely recommend
We had a pre-theatre dinner for four - two adults and two ‘almost teenagers’. We ate rib-eye steaks, fries and mixed salad and my husband and I ordered a yummy carafe of red wine.
Our table was in a cosy corner and our food arrived quickly.
Our waitress was lovely although a little too keen to empty the contents of the carafe into our wine glasses.
Worth eating here if you are in need of a pre or post theatre meal in Soho.
Had a lovely breakfast there and the veggie breakfast was lovely
Excellent place for a pre-matinee brunch on a Saturday. Attentive and friendly service and good value
Came to Cafe Boheme for the first time in 10+ years for a pre-theatre meal and was very much looking forward to it. We arrived 15 minutes early, but it still took over an hour and a quarter to receive our main courses. When the mains finally arrived, we had about five minutes to eat and had to cancel the dessert course of the set-price menu in order to make it to the theatre on time.
Unfortunately the ladies room was filthy as well, as if no one had checked it all day--always a red flag at a restaurant.
On the plus side, the manager did comp our drinks to make up for the long wait, but it was a disappointing meal overall.
Another lovely meal. Choice of food was great. Good portion size. Live jazz was a bonus. Prompt and polite service. Excellent value for money!
Please thank the charming maitre de for being so friendly and helpful.
Lovely Bustling bistro in Soho - recommended for drinks or dinner
I love it there. We arrived at 12.30 for lunch and then moved to the musics seats until 7.30pm. Perfect!!
What a great afternoon. With live music. Not too loud that you couldn’t chat. Lovely warm atmosphere.
Food good. Can’t wait to go back
