I have dined at Cafe Boulud several times and always for special occasions. This time was thanksgiving with out of country visitors. The food was very good but the service was very slow unfortunately.
Perfectly lovely Thanksgiving and Anniversary dining experience. Prix Fixe menu selections proved ideal all round, our table was just right, and our waiter and all attendant staff top notch in every way. The price was commensurate with a special night out event, but the evening was worth every cent. We will happily repeat and recommend over again.
The meal was good, not great. And it was expensive. After the prix fix menu, we ordered coffee. Just plain coffee - nothing fancy. When we looked at the bill, the charge for each cup was $7. We found that price insulting, frankly and we felt gouged. We knew it would be an expensive evening, but that charge for a basic coffee was over the top. We decided to not return because of it.
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious, lamb shank was a generous amount. Vibe was right and fairly quiet considering a packed house. Left very happy this past weekend. Would definitely recommend
This was the best thanksgiving decision of life. Everything was beyond perfect. Four Seasons really knows how to provide quality in every sense of the word!
Thanksgiving brunch. The place was loud. It took over 45 minutes to get to the first course followed by another 45 minutes to get to the second. And this was brunch with pretty typical items like steak and eggs, omelettes and burgers. Yes there were some finer dishes like bacon wrapped cod which was great. The waiter was super nice and quite efficient but the kitchen was unforgivably slow.
As with every experience we’ve had at Cafe Boulud, our thanksgiving brunch meal was amazing and they went above and beyond to make it memorable, comfortable and delicious. They are always incredibly accommodating and entertaining to our infant son, whose first birthday we celebrated there with the thanksgiving brunch! They are so wonderful to us as a family, they brought food for the baby quickly and offered plenty of activities to keep him happy and occupied! Our food was absolutely delicious, the ‘turducken’ special appetizer for thanksgiving was inventive and delicious! Again, service and food are always the best quality and we will continue to always come to cafe Boulud to celebrate any special occasion! Thanks for always being consistently wonderful!
We were late and the staff squeezed us into a busy schedule. Lovely waiter and service.
Was all good !
I celebrated my mom's birthday at here, specially came here for the baked alaska but also ended up having the foie gras au torchon. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. Our server was a very pleasant older guy who made sure we enjoyed our meal.
I would recommend this place especially if you want to celebrate special occasions!
Steak for 2 was incredible, cooked to perfection. Included is 2 sides which is nice compared to paying for them. Highly recommend
Amazing as always! One of the best in Toronto! And great for babies!! Our 2 year old loves his sippy cup and colouring while mommy and daddy enjoy their mimosas :)
Brunch is nourishing and truly a calorific indulgence.
A lovely 2-hour lunch with good friends - excellent food, superb cocktails and top-notch service
great food and atmosphere of a sophisticated fist class hotel
Ladies night out and we had a wonderful time
I did not enjoy my last experience. The service was terrible. He was a lovely man but he took way to long. He forgot my drink and the food took forever. Even the woman next to us complained as her food took far to long.
I ordered the steak tartare and croque madame and they were both just ok. The tartare has no flavour and quite honestly the croque was boring. Definitely not the standards I’m use to at Cafe Boulud.
I do love the new look. Much fresher.
Was an absolutely fabulous experience. I would recommend Cafe Boulud to everyone.
Everything was great expect for the front of house staff (hostesses). When I gave my name they confirmed the number of guests was 2, but I had booked in for 3.i corrected them and informed them it was for 3 people (as all 3 of us were standing there). They didn't really say much, took us to a table for 2. I told the hostess again, that the reservation was for 3 people. Rather then being apologetic, she simply said "you booked for 2". This type of service is unacceptable for this type of restaurant. I was made to feel that I had made a mistake, when in fact I had not. I quickly pulled up my reservation on open table to only confirm I made it for 3. I was not impressed at all. Won't be going back.
Excellent service and good food. DBar noise was a bit of an issue.
It was good.
Cafe Boulud was a wonderful experience. The food is expertly prepared and very satisfying. The service is excellent and the ambience was perfect.
Beautiful meal in a upscale setting. The service was impeccable.
Went for a delicious brunch. Aside from a minor blip which was corrected, everything was amazing. Can't wait for our return visit one day
I love this restaurant but the service was terrible. They took forever to clear the plates and I had to ask for the check twice. Completely ridiculous
Overall a wonderful evening. Zachary our waiter was very professional and it was obvious he took great pride in the quality of service he provides. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend the lobster pasta. Can't wait until my next visit
Delightful desk staff and excellent waiters. Consistently good food. We love the restaurant, are frequent guests as we live in the neighbourhood. Our only main bug bear is noise levels. Can something be done about noise permeating upwards from D Bar, below?
Café Boulud, all though the food is excellent, it is the staff that makes the Café, especially Mike. My wife and I have been regular clients of the Four Seasons, even the original hotel for many years.
Mike who mostly works in the mornings has become our go to waiter. Café Boulud is a must try for everyone.
As always such a pleasure to come to cafe Boulud... only positive comments! Previously our main concern was the noise level but it has been significantly improved and it is totally perfect to have now a nice conversation! Everything else speaks to itself!!!
Thank you very much Cafe Boulud team for the lovely meal, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, and the overall ambiance! We definitely will be back!!!
Chicken. Their signature dish, was try and took to long to come to table.
Server was so so.
One of our dishes, a salad with chicken, came out with rare chicken. While the restaurant replaced the chicken and took it off the bill, after we requested it, this really isn't acceptable and caused a fair bit of anxiety with the guest who had received the meal and was worried if he'd ingested raw chicken.
The circumstances surrounding our evening at Boulud were a trifle unusual, so it is possible I could have rated the experience higher than I did. Hard to imagine how the food or service could have been much better, though: there was enough of a hint of bourgeois-bistro in the food to remind me of Paris, and the execution was very nearly flawless. (For myself I would have enjoyed more garlic in the escargots, but it's a small complaint.) Our waiter handled us very well, under the circumstances; it is always nice to deal with professional wait-staff.
In fact, the service team were exceptional, and my hat is off to the staff of both the restaurant and the hotel, who dealt with a medical emergency in the restaurant with an impressive competency. This emergency, oddly enough, is not the source of my only real complaint about the evening. What bothered me about the evening was the NOISE. I think it's amusing that OpenTable calls this noise level "Energetic": I call it evening-wrecking.
I acknowledge (though I don't understand) that many people seem to require a deafening level of ambient noise in order to believe they are having a good time, but when I go out to eat I like to be able to talk with my dining companions. I'm finding it harder and harder to discover new restaurants that allow me to do this, and there are numerous places I've tried once and then walked away from because of the noise levels they encourage.
As I said at the top, the circumstances of our meal were unusual, so it's possible Boulud isn't always this noisy: we were forced by our guests' schedule to dine there during TIFF. I'm hoping the music was so loud because of a festival-related event, and a future visit might not be so uncomfortable. Certainly I think the cooking and the service were good enough to justify a return visit... at some less-frenetic time.
Food was over salted and order was messed up
Beautiful room and quality menu but highlight was the engaged staff obviously enjoying what they were doing.
17 year anniversary 😁
Great service, food and ambience.
I visited the Cafe boulud in New York. I thought it was amazing. The food was even better than what we had in Paris. But the Toronto restaurant has some north American touches, and the sauce is a little layered. Dessert flour grains have a heavier .
Food was average. Noise unbearable!!! Music too loud!!!
We went there because we always had an excellent experience at the various Café Bouloud in New York. The Toronto experience simply does not compare.
Not worth the expense!!
