Wonderful food and service! Highlights were the courgette flower fritti and the tortelli with ricotta, spinach and sage butter. They were also very accommodating about my friend's honey allergy.
Originally booked for bar but didn’t think Mum would be able to climb up so asked for a table - luckily it was quiet and one was available although it was upstairs with no one up there so felt a bit ‘lonely’. Staff were very friendly and attentive, I did think we’d be forgotten but we weren’t. Waiter was very good with mum on wine ordering he gave her 3 tasters and she didn’t like any so went back to strawberry cocktail of the day and he still smiled. Food was tasty, the main did turn up a bit in the cold side but it was no problem to get it sorted and another was brought up hot and an apology from manager.
Mum loved her risotto I had puttanesca very tasty
Another excellent meal. We chose to eat at the bar which is often quiet as not so near the tables. 3 plus hours from 3.30pm went very quickly. Our favourite restaurant in Covent Garden.
Portions for the pre theatre menu were like a child’s portions. What we had was well cooked and full of flavour but I left feeling hungry.
Great bar service. Really enjoyed sitting at the bar counter and chatting to bar staff while being served delicious food. Chicken milanese was excellent as was all the food, finished off with a 10/10 panna cotta.
Will go again soon and will definitely sit at the bar!
Lovely staff and fantastic food. Been to cafe murano at st James also but we both agree this venue and experience was far better. Very good value also and pre-theatre menu superb.
Enjoyable pre-theatre meal with my daughter. We were placed at the bar which was fine, although seats were a little high for me so it would have been nice to be offered a choice. Food was excellent. Limited, but perfectly satisfactory, options for the pre-theatre menu. Friendly staff, with service appropriately timed for us to make it to the Aldwych Theatre without rushing.
We were welcomed and looked after.
Sunday 11th March - 5 of us. Staff were attentive and helpful. The food was poor and not generous. Pear salad with walnuts and cheese - hardly any cheese no walnuts - were not offered any bread. Nocci were really horrible . Cheese was good. Sea bream for two - was ok but arrived with only a bunch of rocket on top(we said no to fennel) no sauce nothing - just a big fish! Staff were good tho - kitchen is lacking.
We love Angela’s food and will be back. Starters were delicious and great and pasta was very good if not quite at Limewood levels of amazing ness
I’d booked a table at Murano for a pre theatre supper weeks in advance. First of all we were given a table at the bar and then a table beside the door in a howling draft. Very disappointing.
The atmosphere very pleasant as usual and the staff very friendly We had just 2 courses and it was served promptly as we were going to the theatre. We had cod fritters for starters as we usually do and of course the pasta was superb. The wines ere good and not too expensive We will go again and will tell our friends how good it is
Fantastic value (pre-Theatre) great service and wonderful food. Could not recommend this restaurant highly enough. Will definitely be bacj
We travelled to London from Cornwall for a matinee performance of Oslo at the Harold Pinter Theatre and chose Cafe Murano for a pre-theatre lunch. We sat at the bar with a Negroni and a glass of Prosecco - snacking on some delicious focaccia and fine olive oil while selecting our meal - grilled octopus for me, Heritage carrots for my wife. Both were delicious with a great char on the octopus and a deep sweet flavour in the carrots. We followed this with a brown crab linguini and a saffron risotto with a carafe of good Trebbiano to share.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch, elegant and sophisticated the restaurant was quiet as we arrived but bustling as we left at 1.30. Sitting at the bar allowed as to people watch as we enjoyed our meal.
Recommend highly for every kind of occasion - a celebration, a treat, a quick snack or a solitary meal with a book. A great place.
Beautiful food and great service in a refined setting. Very enjoyable evening with a friend for dinner and good location.
Very friendly & efficient staff, and interesting menu. They do a pre theatre and POST theatre menu from 10pm, which is an excellent notion.
It was very busy by about 6pm., and we were in a rush for the opera at 6.30. Took just a bit too long to get our espressi and the bill
Very good menu, enjoyed the food, service outstanding.
Great service, food, and ambiance. Highly recommended! I’ll be back very soon!!!
Excellent food and service. Quaint spot - we especially enjoyed the bar seats.
Excellent choice for a pre-theatre dinner. Delicious wine accompanying the meal and a great place to sit at the bar near the waiters.
Amazing meal. First visit but not our last. By coincidence we watched Angela Hartnett on a television interview before our visit and it really came across that the passion she has for her craft is translated through to the plate set in front of you. How can a plate of cauliflower taste SO GOOD!! The plaice was wonderfully fresh and simply cooked. We have always said that our best ever fish meal was the baked turbot at Al Gatto Nero on Burano but this was better. Please don't read this review and think God how snobby but I know what I like and I know when something wonderful is so well cooked that the food shines through.
The perfect Negroni cocktail was the beginning of a delicious meal. Seated alone at the counter I was able to enjoy a view down the restaurant without being disturbed. Some bread and fiery olive oil preceded the starter of Buratta which was excellent, soaking up the remains of the dish with the last bread. Linguini with cockles and chilli was superb.
This restaurant delivered everything I look for when dining - great food, stylish (and quiet) ambience, an interesting wine list & cocktails with attentive, but not too attentive, staff.
Excellent and attentive service from all staff. Menu was varied, interesting and delicious. Great reasonable wine list too.
This is the third time we've visited and the service has been impeccable every time. The menu changes frequently enough with the pasta dishes a real highlight. All the waiting staff are knowledgable and friendly when recommending wine pairings.
I had a lovely solo lunch here sat at the bar counter. The octopus starter was delicious, as was the sausage pasta. Very good value including a couple of glasses of decent house white.
Whilst the ambience & service were very good, the Management must have been having a laugh over the salads served. The green bean, peach and almond salad starter( OK-- this was from the Pre-theater menu, but even so!) included a few leaves from a bag, three TINY slices of peach and a few flaked almonds straight from a packet, plus the green beans. This is supposed to be Angela Hartnett! The mixed leaf side salad(from the main menu) was £3 for a very few coloured leaves straight from a bag.
We were going to the theatre and needed a fairly quick meal - so we had the pre-theatre menu. rather than the other offers. The service was quick and our particular waitress was extremely helpful and attentive, albeit that the restaurant was not particularly full. The was a limited choice of food, given our choice of pre-theatre menu but this was sufficient. The starters were very good, the main course a little less good and the desserts were delicious!
We had a nice time at the counter. The waiter was very friendly. Good food at a reasonable price. We had a very pleasant evening! I would really recommend this place.
Good food in pleasant friendly environment
The new spring menu is full of seasonal favourites with beautiful flavours and Combinations. This coupled with the relaxed atmosphere and good wine makes for a great lunch or dinner with or without friends. The staff are attentive and helpful with any questions that you may have with the menu.
Met a friend for dinner on a Tuesday evening. I love Cafe Murano and this visit was just as good as all the others. Food delicious, service friendly and attentive without being too overbearing, great relaxed atmosphere. My friend and I had a fantastic evening and he (a Cafe Murano virgin) is definitely now a convert.
We was treated really well when we entered. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and drink were excellent
Interesting menu with good choice for pre theatre meal. Wines were very good too. Service attentive and friendly without being overbearing
Came here for a pre-theatre meal, which was decent for the price given the location, if a little uninspiring. Alcoholic drinks were, unsurprisingly, pricy with a very limited choice of affordable wine, but an excellent complimentary espresso to finish the meal compensated for this somewhat. As I was on my own it was nice to be seated at the bar and able to chat with the friendly staff rather than be stuck away on a lonely table
We booked a table very last minute and ended up seated at the end of the bar which was perfect. The service was spot on, friendly, helpful and quick. The good was fabulous as were the cocktails. I would certainly recommend it and hope to visit again soon.
Great place for pre/post theatre menu dining. Delicious food served by friendly helpful staff.
Just amazing! Food was wonderful, and staff was really nice.
good food, wine, service, ambience and good value. Ideal pre/post theatre
This was our first experience of Café Murano. We visited pre Theatre. Beautiful building.
Loved sitting at the dining bar. Excellent , efficient, knowledgeable staff.
We were not rushed. Loved the seasonable \ fresh menu.
We had a bottle of Gavi, which was stunning.
We would recommend & will certainly be back.
Thank you so much.
I was a little leery at first, as there were so many things on the menu I didn't recognize. Also, we ended up seated at the bar for dinner instead of a table. But the bartender couldn't have been friendlier, the focaccia and our entrees were absolutely delicious. We were in a wonderful location for the theatre, (just around the corner from Duchess Theatre), and we got our food in plenty of time. It was a very nice evening!
