the atmosphere is fantastic, but the menu was Italian, although we were in UK, and a little bit difficult find right wine and meal.
The Frontage is very unassuming. When you get inside it's pure Italy, immediately taking me back to meals all over that amazing country..... Welcome, service were top class..... Bread, olives, nuts we're seriously good.... The mains were good but not amazing and for a large plate a tad small.... That said I will return try some different dishes.......
Good service. Pre-theatre fixed menu poor - surprised and disappointed when presented with a very small chicken leg in a bowl with broth/cooking liquid and literally nothing else as a main dish! Would not dine here again unfortunately.
Fantastic setting, excellent staff. Mark up on wines a bit steep but overall a very good experience.
Our 2nd visit and we will return so soon.
Thank you to our waitress( sorry we didnt get her name) we sat on the 1st floor on 07Sep19 for dinner.
She was very lovely and polite.
Food cook to perfection we clean the plate :0
Excellent as ever - great value, great food, great service
Great food a little loud!
I went with my sister for a pre-theater meal from the set menu. The portions were generous and the service was wonderful. I booked last minute and was given a seat on the bar. The bar staff were attentive and offered recommendations. I'd definitely return!
After theatre meal - just what we needed! A good 'menu di giorno' had something for all four of us. Many thanks
Massive disappointment. The spaghetti pomodoro was nice, but very expensive and just a few pounds less than the lamb my friend had. This lamb was also served cold. There should be no reason why they’re close in cost. Potatoes were bland. I asked for them w/out mint - not even so much as salted flakes were sprinkled on so I covered them in salt and pepper. The request sent upon making the reservation to be seated away from the toilet wasn’t honoured. We didn’t receive a check-back until we had nearly finished. Generally inattentive. No ambiance in the restaurant - the music was so low I started wondering if they were closing soon. A dessert was offered to make up for the lamb (which was graciously removed from the bill), but we were so over it we declined.
Food was good but the whole evening was let down by frankly amateurish service.
The food is always excellent but on this occasion the noise levels were very high, this is the first time we’ve been seated at the rear of the restaurant.
Also the service was unusually slow, we were seated and left for nearly twenty minutes before anyone came to take our drinks order
Great food and brilliant service - I would also highly recommend the Aperol tasting menu!
Café Murano had a strong marketing campaign on Facebook so I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was excellent. The food was original and beautifully cooked. I had octopus as a starter which was tender and well seasoned and lovely fish. They catered well for vegetarians and vegans. The staff were all really friendly and seemed genuinely interested in the menu and to ensure they provided good service. A really good find. Only slight issue was that everyone having such a good time that noise level of talking quite high - but that made the place lively.
Service was very inattentive after we were seated, I struggled to get a waiter's attention for a drinks order. Over the evening service improved.
Food was tasty but portions not generous, too much rocket on the chicken escalope plate, could have done with some vegetables on the side.
Great service, look and feel to this relaxing yet stylish Italian! Great Food very well portioned and Only disappointment was my choice of dessert, an almond cake which was dry and not very almondy.
Really friendly staff, delicious food and prompt service. First visit to Murano and definitely not my last.
Disappointed, had high expectations after a friend had visited the st James restaurant. Nothing distinctive or unique in the taste and flavours. I would question the quality of some ingredients.
Delicious set lunch with prompt but unhurried and friendly service.
On arrival at the restaurant, the heat was unbearable, I enquired if they had air conditioning, the reply was it doesn't work very well.
we had a nice corner banquet for the two of us and the staff were very welcoming, we had previously visited the merchants tavern when Angela was in charge and the food was excellent, Cafe Murano was hit and miss, half of the dishes on the menu that we ordered were not available.
We settled on a Ricotta salad, Mozzarella salad, Veal chop and Chicken Milanese, the mains were very good but the starters were mediocre I think they had ran out of Rocket leaves as we were given little gem lettuces, ( not as the menu stated).
We shared a baked peach which I thought was served hot, but it was cold and no taste of a sweet peach.
Sadly disappointed with our visit but the staff were very attentive and apologetic about the lack of aircon.
Good food and service, drinks well priced. Needed aircon
We wanted to make a complaint but having looked at all the websites there is no complaints procedure. This is appalling.
Our complaint is that the cafe was far too hot and despite asking staff to turn on the air conditioning several times they did not, or could not. We know because it came on automatically at 7 pm as we were leaving. It is clear the staff are not trained in how to use it.
I have MS and cannot control my temperature. I was using ice cubes in my napkin applied directly to my skin to keep cool.
Altogether it was a horrible experience which we had to pay for.
Our server, Stefani (from Portugal) was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients.
The food was delicious! Would definitely come back again!
Food was good however the experience was let down by the wait staff. After being given our menus were left for 20 mins before someone came over to take our order. When our food came we were asked if we wanted parmesan. We said yes however we are still waiting for it and had finished our meals before the wait staff reappeared. Tables were also too close together to the extent that we felt like part of other people’s conversations. As we were not happy with the service we didn’t want to pay the discretionary 12.5% service charge and asked for it to be taken off the bill. This was done however the waiter decided to throw the amended bill onto the table. Overall we were very disappointed with what was meant as a treat.
I would recommend but it wasn’t wow amazing. I was expecting something a little more delicious
We have been to Murano but not tried the cafes and we were pleasantly surprised. Service was excellent despite the restaurant being busy. The cocktails ‘Covent Garden’ and L’Aurora were delicious and a great start to our evening.
Our food came out and quickly and was presented nicely. The arincini were heavenly and the spinach and ricotta pasta in sage and butter was also very delicious. We were in and out in 1 1/4 hours but were not rushed at all.
We will definitely be returning.
Ideally located for dinner after seeing Mama Mia just round the corner. Welcoming staff & pleasant atmosphere, tables not too tightly packed in. Good range of drinks & some fun mocktails that our youngsters enjoyed. Food very tasty & good sized portions. Helpful staff offered advice over a dairy intolerance when it came to desserts. Would recommend & hope to return.
We've been to Cafe Murano several times and every occasion has been great. Delicious food, including the best custard tart I've ever had!
Italian Summer Time menu really lacked in quality and charm. Surely a crack team of accountants must have been set the challenge: design us a menu that gives exactly equal £ net profit margin with the standard menu, cap the price at £25, and don’t forget to factor in all the overheads! I think the accountants must have winced but gone about their duty, throwing out the meat and cheese like an unloved old spreadsheet, and bringing in pasta and a few flavourings.
Result is a meal that tasted like a Tesco tomato soup mixed into lasagne noodles. Edible, or course, hardly evocative of a summer holiday in Tuscany.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The upstairs room was nice, but like all the best parties run by accountants, the cool kids (along with everyone else in London) were elsewhere.
Welcomed straight away. Requested and granted specific table.
Opentable offer taken £25 each. Very good prosecco. Starters of wonderful tasting italian ham with very good olives, and basil and tomato with lovely light dressing on tomato. Fish stew fantastic; best we have ever had, with smaller tomatoes and lovely light sauce. Waitress suggested focaccia to dip which was the perfect complement. Tried Angela Hartnett white wine which was lovely and delicate in flavour.
Staff really friendly but not overdone. Have already recommended to my Book Club!
Decor and ambiance nothing special but excellent food. Pre Theatre menu would be worth investigating Good service
A bit of a curate’s egg. The service was friendly and enthusiastic, and mostly efficient. The food was mostly good, but nothing special, and a couple of things (especially the steak) were disappointing. We were at a table near the door and it was a warm night, but when the door was wedged open there was an annoyjng draught (no one objected when I closed it). Both food and wine were at the pricy end for what they were. It wasn’t bad, but with so much choice in London I won’t be rushing back.
We booked in advance and arrived early to ensure we were eligible for the fixed price menu. We were seated on the upper floor which is much quieter than the ground and suited us fine. The upper floor is also nicely designed (particularly the roof lights). Although our menu choice was limited all our food was excellent and what made it really good value is that the fixed price includes both a drink and coffee. We did buy a bottle of house wine too which was probably a bit over-priced (but that's not just Murano).
Service throughout was consistently very good.
Outstanding meal here pre theater.
We were served by Richard who was attentive to just the appropriate level.
Would recommend to all.
Great food, best pasta I have tasted. Slight issue with the main course and food coming out at be same time. Rectified when we advised staff, didn’t spoil the food, but wasn’t all enjoyed at the same time, hence the 4 stars for service. Would visit again without a doubt, and hope to when I’m next in London.
Not as good as usual. Service and atmosphere not so great plus one of the dishes was poor so a bit of a disappointing visit on this occassion overall.
Food was fabulous but the waitress was not only incredibly knowledgable she made us feel so comfortable and very welcome. I unfortunately didn’t catch her name but she was Portuguese.
First visit to this restaurant and will definitely be back next time we come to London. Excellent food and service and even a celebratory ice cream as a birthday cake! Loved it!
the restaurant is totally different from the picture, it looks like just another place.
different interior- there was no centre seating, no bright ceiling like the picture provided.
the interior was a bit like a pub in the train station. ( oak brown wooden interior and dark lighting)
food was fine. but if you choose this restaurant by the interior or plan to go for the special dining
it will be disappointing,
Staff was friendly and the portion of food was fine.
I kindly advise to this restaurant that pleases upload " Real" picture of the interior...
We had such a nice time! We sat at the bar but it still felt intimate and nice. They also had a great menu! Everything was delicious
