Service always attentive, but not overwhelming ... love the diversity and layout of the wine list.
The St James branch of this group is bright, efficient and friendly. It serves excellent Italian dishes and really good Italian wines. Despite COVID-19 they are handling busy trade in a socially distanced way and keeping service levels high.
short menu, good variety of dishes, good Italian wine list. Friendly environment, tables a little too close together in the current climate.
Excellent service, great service. Gem in St James
Food overall was ok. Drinks very good. My husband said his Hake was over seasoned with salt and quite plainly presented. We felt quite rushed with the courses. We ordered drinks and were served bread which we’d only just finished when our starter arrived. We’d yet to finish our cocktails. There wasn’t much of a gap between starters and main course either. We’d only been there 50 mins and we were already presented with the dessert menu! So we slowed everything down by asking for another drink and saying we’d wait before ordering.
We saw the staff regularly washing/sanitising their hands but didn’t see them disinfecting tables after people had left. We hope this was done at the end of the shift? I visited the Ladies’ Toilets and there was no notice on the door about restricting the number of people in there, especially as the only two sinks were next to each other. Also the only means of drying my hands was a couple of boxes of tissues - no hand dryer or proper paper towels. By the amount of discarded tissues on the floor around the bin, the bathroom had not been checked in a while.
Absolutely perfect, delicious food, great portions, well priced. Wine selection was a joy and the staff were very attentive.
Great food as always
Great service as always
Great place as always
Great pasta but servers had no masks on... seemed like an obvious oversight for such a long-running establishment.
Good value for money - nice informed staff - Covid quiet😊
Lovely as always. Wonderful ingredients, deliciously fresh pasta, always eat far too much
An elegant place for a refined dining experience
The service was friendly and efficient and they coped well with the fact that one of our party has a number of serious allergies. The sommelier was very helpful and recommended wines to go with each meal that aligned with our tastes. The food was excellent both in conception and execution and excellent value. Even the "starter sized" portions of pasta were large. I will definitely go back soon!
Great to be back. Fabulous food. Good wine. Excellent service.
Perfectly pleasant restaurant. Would Probably have liked to have seen a wider choice of cicchetti, but it was an enjoyable lunch.
Felt very safe and secure. Amazing food and incredibly welcoming staff as always. Go back to support Angela and her terrific team.
Great food, high quality ingredients treated with respect and cooked well. Excellent service from the staff who were friendly and helpful.
My favourite place in London. The food is wonderfully complex in a simple way.
We ate a le carte this time buy the set menu is always good too. Especially if you start with fizz and arancini !!
It’s a lovely space and I was very pleased to be back.
Lovely to be eating out again after 'lockdown'!
I had a brilliant meal with my 10 year old daughter. Impeccable service, delicious food.
The £16 menu for two courses is an extraordinary bargain.
The food is seriously good genuine Italian. And to back that claim up there was an Italian couple who had just got married (she in full bridal white) having their reception in the PDR. Always follow the people who know.
Spaghetti carbonara is a simple dish on the face it that is surprisingly difficult to get right. Mine was perfect as was the rest of the meal.
So great to be back to Cafe Murano. The service was great and it was clear efforts had been made to make guests feel comfortable and secure. Food was wonderful, as always. Good value too.
Lovely evening, celebrating my birthday. They gave the “birthday plate” to the wrong person. No bid deal but I’m surprised they didn’t check first.
Tables were well spaced out but apart from that there were no obvious Covid precautions - no ugly plastic partitions, no visors for the staff. All very pleasant and relaxed. Food as always was delicious. Great wine too at a reasonable price.
Wonderful food, considerate and safe service, a slice of Italian heaven in troubled times.
Lunch at Cafe Murano was everything we expected it to be. We opted for shared anitpasti which was really good and we each had a small pasta dish to follow plus some Dolci...All very lovely and well presented. For a business lunch it couldn't have been better and the staff choice of the lower priced Puliasi red was wonderful and great value.
We had a lovely family lunch last Saturday. Food and service were excellent. Thanks to the super friendly staff and chefs.
We love Cafe Murano
Amazing food great value and very good staff. Will definitely return .
A fabulous inviting Bistro style restaurant. We dinned at the bar with the pre theatre menu. The black squid and polenta was amazing. The rice dish not so exciting. A vast wine list! We would revisit in a heartbeat!
The meal was pretty average. Not a great choice on the set menu. There was 5 of us celebrating a birthday and we were put in the back of the restaurant on a very small table.
I have had lunch several times at the St James Restaurant and it has always been a very nice experience. Monday and Tuesdays are less hectic at lunchtimes so these are the days I prefer. On my last visit, we had the grilled place for two people at £56, we were told that it was about 1kg in weight.Sadly we were disappointed whilst the fish was delicious it really could not have been more than 750gn, to begin with. I will, however, return!
Outstanding food and service.
Excellent food, fish cooked to perfection(always difficult). Rocket and parmesan glad very good indeed. Wine list very reasonably priced for Mayfair.
It used to be one of my favourite but the service went really down and the food is now quite average .
Wonderful food ambience and service. A solid choice for St James area dinning.
Wonderful food and negronis, and very good service.
Very creative italian food ...really good one
We were served quickly and the orders were correct. We halved the first course - lovely octopus with beans. Main courses were varied, looked attractive and tasted delicious. Orders not too big so we all had a sweet. Again they were delicious.Would recommend this restaurant.
Perfect venue for lunch with a girlfriend - the food and service were both excellent, and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. The only negative was that we thought the decor was rather old fashioned and tired, but the really delicious menu and super-charming staff made up for it.
We really enjoyed the meal. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This is a restaurant that we shall most certainly return to in the future.
Is was a shame.
Was so looking forward to eat at one of Angela’s restaurants for a while.
Service was ok, food was less so.
Starters of fish and pasta was good, only good.
Mains of home made nduja pasta did not live to expectations; risotto Milanese, same and bavette was so incredibly small and not tender enough.
Dessert of chocolate tart; if am not mistaken was taken off the bill as it was barely eaten. Dry dry dry, might have been sitting around for a while.
Husband said coffee was very good though.
But it was an expensive bill for what we where given.
Sad, to say the least.
Very good food and wine and generally very pleasant staff.
This is an absolutely fantastic restaurant! The food is first class and the staff so helpful. The maitre d’ found me a lovely table and because I waited a few minutes brought some cichetti. Amazingly nice. Even the lady taking the coats wanted to know what we ate and what we liked as they were trying new things on the menu. Clearly a real team effort with everyone pulling together.
