A little pricey, depending on your budget, delicious food, great ambience and lovely staff.
I have been here several times and through the challenging times all restaurants face they not only have been the best food but so far the best Covid safety I have seen. Well done
2nd visit for lunch, not disappointed at all, food was lovely. However if I remember, their was a choice of each course last time, but given the existing economic climate, understand the change. Will definitely return, thank you
Edinburgh institution with lovely ambience, great food and great value
The food was absolutely superb with excellent flavours throughout. Service was also very good. Highly recommended. We will be returning on our next visit to Edinburgh.
The evening was made even more memorable by the very generous Mastercard/Open Table Dine Local promotion which meant that we only had to pay for our alcoholic drinks as our food and soft drinks were paid for by Mastercard. Thank you very much Mastercard, this was a lovely surprise.
Delicious food which is all locally sourced in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Excellent food! Great service as well. Tables were all socially distanced.
fabulous meal, fabulous food. Great service. Lovely
Excellent food and great service. Will certainly return post covid
An excellent meal and service in a very planned and safe environment.
A wonderful evening as always, and attention paid to keep us safe!
It’s our fourth time at Cafe St Honore...the food is always first class as is the service.
Cafe St Honóre not only provided exceptional service and culinary care, but they used lockdown restrictions to their advantage by using the quiet hum of customer conversation with atmospheric lighting to create a spellbinding ambience.
The food was exactly what you would expect from a kitchen that sources it's ingredients locally, maximum flavour and top quality. Their Aberdeen Angus steak has to be tasted to be believed, easily putting other brasseries in Edinburgh to shame.
Don't dally, book a table and discover this secluded little gem for yourself!
What a wonderful evening. The food, service, wine and ambience were superb. Can’t wait to go back.
Brilliant ambiance tucked into a little corner of central Edinburgh. Delicious food, warm service and a great overall experience. Many thanks for a great lunch.
Returning after 2 years, it was as always a great experience
I love their Seafood specialty, so delicious and beautifully presented. Crème Brûlée Was awesome. Definitely will visite again.
Brilliant evening in a wonderfully easygoing friendly restaurant with an ambient quality all of its own - the food was wonderful & so were the staff... all round an experience worth repeating again & again
Delicious Scottish food in a French style Brasserie. We had the set price three course lunch. Grouse breast (exquisitely cooked) on bread sauce as a starter, then melt-in-the-mouth rolled belly pork, and a very tasty raspberry & almond tart to follow. Great value lunch which set us up well for our six hour drive home in the afternoon / evening. We’ll definitely go back when we’re next in Edinburgh!
wonderful atmosphere always. very welcoming helpful staff and delicious food.
Perfect place for a quiet date night. Food was just what we were after - hearty, authentically Scottish and delicious. The service was swift and friendly. The interior decor isn't the 'snazziest' but we liked that it didn't feel like a 'new age' (read gentrified) eatery. They allowed the food to stand out and it really did.
This was my first attempt during lockdown to this place. And first time in 2 years, I am so pleased with the food and their service. Took my partner as his birthday treat and he was so happy too.
Highly recommend this place.
Thank you Cafe St Honoré for the delicious food. I'll be back 😊
terrific food, real authentic french cuisine in an utterly charming interior. Great service and staff were knowledgeable of the wines on the menu.
We love this restaurant, the food is always amazing and delicious. Great wine selection and wonderful service.
The menu is always different and so hard to choose from. Never fails to impress.
The staff are great anyway but think they have done a fab job of making it feel as normal as possible in current environment.
We will be back soon
Excellent service, delicious food and great ambience
Lovely little restaurant down a side street. It looks very French inside. The staff were lovely and the service was good. The food was outstanding, especially the Beef Bourguignon it was rich and delicious with little onions, mushrooms and small tasty pieces of pancetta on a bed of creamy mashed potato and cabbage. The chef has won awards and they were included in the Michelin guide. Would highly recommend.
A really lovely lunch for my birthday. All three of us enjoyed our choices immensely. Great wine and service. The ever dependable Cafe St Honore does it again!
The fish cake specialty starter of the day was disappointing
The Rib-eye steak was good quality and perfectly cooked however English mustard was not available! to accompany it.
Both deserts were nice
The wine list was very limited and over priced
Whilst I understand we are dinning in the Covid period and need to be careful the decision not to replace cutlery between courses is perplexing
Even with the £20 government discount applied the meal was expensive
It was lovely to get back out again to eat after months. The welcome was warm. The Covid arrangements well thought out and explained. The food was excellent and service attentive without being too much.
We were down by the kitchen which meant it was a bit noisy with no background music (regulations) to cover it and I’d say the non-alcoholic drinks options were uninspiring so it was tap water with my delicious meal.
The most delicious lunchtime menu served well and respectfully in these Covid times. We look forward to an evening meal soon!!
Great menu, delicious food. A lot of care and attention has gone into general safety and cleanliness during these awkward times. However, none of the extra care spoilt the ambience and it was a great treat for us to meet and chat over good food and a glass of wine. Great service.
Beautifully sourced produce handled skilfully by a master chef and team to deliver a lovely date night experience. Great front of house service too. So good we booked immediately for the same time next week!
The food was amazing and service impeccable
We revisited Cafe St Honore as previous experience was very good. We appreciated that times are challenging for any restaurant/business but quite frankly the welcome we received on arrival was very poor. After being shown to our table, the three course menu presented did not appear to be traditionally very French at all. My friend is a Chef and cooks for French guests and advised that she felt it was somewhat lacking. The staff did not appear very friendly towards us and did not particularly welcome us at all.
I would say the Halibut and Steak that we chose were cooked very well, but it was a pity the whole restaurant lacked ambience of any kind. We have been to others in the City whilst the staff have been inhibited by wearing masks, in no way did this deter from the dining experience on offer. If you are looking for a bit of conviviality, book elsewhere.
The best meal I have had for a very long time. High quality local produce, skill fully prepared and presented. We will be back very soon.
Very good food, nice atmosphere and good service. The staff were friendly and took time to explain the Covid restrictions which were clear and did not get in the way of our enjoyment. It felt a safe space.
The staff were very attentive, and friendly. The food was delicious, however it lacked ambiance, despite the beautiful interior of the restaurant.
Stumbled across the lovely restaurant by accident.situated in a quiet street we would definitely return ,the food was absolutely delicious and staff were very helpful, hope soon after Covid the atmosphere will be better with a little music. Thanks Keith/jackie
Excellent food and a definite French vibe about this restaurant. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented on the plate. Good Covid-19 precautions and it felt safe and relaxing.
We have had meals out in many places ,but by far this is one of the best , it was a fantastic night food excellent, staff you could not fault, when we come back to Edinburgh we will definitely be back
We really could do with you in Newcastle
