Lovely French style venue. Welcoming Food very innovative.
I have been here several times and never been disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely ‘feel’ and the staff very good.
The food is fresh well-cooked and very tasty.
We ate later than normal so it was very busy and we had a little wait for our starters, otherwise great!
A delightful meal. Delicious food, beautifully presented. Attentive staff. This little gem is a wee bit off the beaten track but well worth it. French cuisine with a Scottish overtone; I loved the piece of tablet with the coffee.
Once again Cafe St Honore provided an excellent meal. The wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The wine was very good with a reasonable choice. We love the cooking here. The cassoulet was excellent once again as was the steak. We don't live in Edinburgh but visit frequently though wish we could come here more often. We will definitely return.
Excellent atmosphere in the heart of the city with attentive staff and very good food at good value.
This was our first time at Café St Honore, but certainly won't be the last. The food was outstanding and the service was first class.
We love Cafe St Honore as the food is authentic French cooking. Extremely tasty food and great choice. I had vegetarian options (I am not vegetarian) and they were as delicious as meat courses. Cassoulet wad also amazing and I hope they have it next time we come in early January!
Lovely place for a romantic meal. Great ambience, fabulous food and good service
Fantastic Quality food , and for standard of food exceptionally good value.
Pretty setting ,excellent food and friendly staff. Liked it so much that I returned with family a few days later.
The restaurant is a lovely place to meet, eat and talk together. Our group of 8 had a corner of the restaurant to ourselves and were looked after very well by the staff. The menu was varied and the cost for both food and wine has something for everyones taste and pocket. Recommended for dinner though I am sure lunch would be great too. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Great food in a cosy atmosphere...a little bit of Paris in the middle of Edinburgh!
After a way more expensive, Michelin starred but strangely tasteless and disappointing meal the night before, our meal here was a highlight of a brief visit to Edinburgh. Big, delicious flavours - my venison with red cabbage and Stornaway black pudding and my wife’s flatiron steak were both fantastic. Nice atmosphere if predictably quiet on a Thursday in November. We’ll be back.
Being a real foodie I must say this is a find when I was on business in Edinburgh.
I have the business lunch which was outstanding from beginning to the end.
I started with mussels which were great followed by what was described as pork hash which was pork with onions and cabbage with an egg in the top, a good portion and delicious. Desert was a fab crime brûlée. Go there fellow diners if you are in Edinburgh anytime.
It was so reasonably priced too. Well done for a great lunch. This is the best review I have done in ages
Loved our visit to Cafe St Honore, we hadn't been for a while. Our meal was great, I had the pork belly with white beans which was fabulous, and my wife had duck which was equally delicious. They have a good wine selection, we had a Bordeaux at £30 which was great value. We ate on a Saturday evening and the restaurant had a lovely candlelit atmosphere, and had to book a week or so ahead as it was very busy. My only point of feedback would be regarding the drinks service. Our table was quite small and so our wine and water were placed on the window ledge directly behind us, which made it tricky when we were looking for a refill (the waiting staff didn't offer). Apart from that minor point, highly recommended!
This is a great place. I use it often for business dinners and it never, ever, disappoints. The staff are very welcoming and attentive and the food is lovely.
This is a favourite of mine! As always, the food was really good....I had ham hock terrine, blade of beef and then cheese. Wines by the glass are good too - and the service excellent.
My wife and I had a lovely lunch - we had been here once before a few years ago. The welcome, help with food and wine choices and the service were all very warm and helpful. The food was really good and the atmosphere is very Parisienne. It won't be as long till we next visit.
Absolutely brilliant food. Fine Scottish produce impeccably cooked. Service at best inexpert -- had a sense staff were all still in training. And ambience somewhat impaired by inappropriate music. But the food is the main thing, and that was superb.
Superb cooking! Well presented and friendly staff
Always great food and service. The food quality is consistent and the service always friendly.
It is not often that a restaurant meets expectations, here is an exception
Food, service and ambience were all top quality. It's no surprise this restaurant has been awarded
My wife and I love it here, Neil and his team do an amazing job bringing so many tasty dishes time after time. We particularly admire his local sourcing policy.
Outstanding smoked salmon; first class black pudding and pork belly; well flavoured bed of vegetables rather soggy for my taste though much liked by others at the table; pudding most superior and delicious though, alas, we were almost too full to gain maximum pleasure. Five of us shared a crumble and barely finished it!
Lovely staff and a notable experience all round.
Fabulous food with fresh local cuisine. Friendly service and an excellent Selection of wines. Highly recommend this restaurant although it is tucked away in a dark alley it ia worth hunting down.
We really enjoyed our lunch, menu was great with many choices and at an affordable price. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and nothing was too much trouble. The house wine (red and white was excellent) and well worth the price we paid. Overall our Dining was experience was great, that it felt very French just made it better. Highly recommended by all five of us in the party.
This was our first visit. Atmosphere, food and staff were all great.
Look forward to my return trip
We have now eaten at St Honere 3 times and if possible the food gets more delicious. Every mouthfall is yummy. Really friendly staff very helpful and welcoming. It is a very cosy restaurant with a charming atmosphere. We will return again next year.
After several visits, I still love coming here to eat. The food is always well-presented, well cooked and tasty. The staff are friendly and efficient. I was going to give 4 stars overall because they forgot to bring a glass of red wine with my main course, but when we reminded our waitress, the manager apologised and took it off our bill. I have no hesitation in giving it 5 stars.
Absolute perfection and I highly recommend that you go
This is such a good restaurant! Ingredients are very fresh and put together in innovative ways, i.e. panzanella with smoked mackerel. what a great idea! The pork rillette was delicious. We had venison and duck confit for mains and they were very well cooked. Frangipane cake with cherries was a nice finish as was the tablet that came with coffee or tea. I cant believe we waited so long to try this place. We will definitely be back. The service was very warm and welcoming as well as competent.
placed in the hot basement, near the kitchen. food was not special nor memorable. no recognition for our special event, which was ok, but we were hoping for (and requested) a nice table when we booked weeks in advance. when we asked if there wasn't something available upstairs, we were told everyone had a reservation. regardless of table location, not a great french restaurant. spend your money elsewhere.
Great food and place!!!
Returned for lunch after a good time away and found it just as good as ever.
Food was delicious and lunch course special was a great value. The creme brûlée was one of the best I've ever eaten!
First visit and won't be the last. Superb food served flawlessly. Full of character with attentive staff. Other kitchens should aspire to serve food as fresh and tasty.
I have never been disappointed when I eat here. We have been for lunches and dinners and all have been excellent. The atmosphere is comfortable, service excellent and good great!
Second time dining here. Both were fantastic. Would highly recommend Cafe St. Honore.
It was amazing. Great Food and Wine, very good Service.
Everything top.
We have returned to the restaurant on a few occasions, it is on our top ten restaurants
