This was a very nice dining experience. The service was excelkent. The winelist was limited and two of our choices were sold out, however, we were offered a more expensive wine at a very good price
Lovely little restaurant in the centre of the New Town. Food delicious. Staff polite and very professional.
Fantastic food, great service and a lovely place to eat. Highly recommend.
Lovely restaurant and excellent menu. Very good service.
Very intimate, authentic Parisian feel.
Menu was unfussy, food was very fresh, well cooked and well presented.
Staff were attentive and friendly.
Will definitely go back.
Great hidden gem! Amazing food and welcoming staff. We went during ongoing Scottish covid restrictions but felt safe and considered by the staff who made every effort to reassure us and keep us informed of how service had changed. We can't wait to go back to experience the place in full swing. Book in advance to avoid disappointment... Menus posted on the blog daily to get your mouth watering!
The food is generally excellent but the range of dishes on offer is rather limited. The covid regulations are also over the top.
We were very impressed by this restaurant. The standard of cooking was excellent, particularly with the mains and desserts. My coeliac husband's gluten-free needs were very well looked after and service was friendly and efficient. Oddly this was the only restaurant we visited in our week in Edinburgh that served free bread at the beginning of the meal - my husband was given gluten-free bread and mine was just about the best bread I've ever eaten.
It was good to be back after so many months of lockdowns etc (although we frequently used the "At home" service and so weren't completely without). The menu selection was not as varied as in the past but what there was enabled us to eat well : the vegetarian dish was one of my wife's favourites and she pronounced it as good as ever; my smoked trout and hake dishes were excellent. We had a very good time.
I dined alone and was seated in a quiet area over looking the street - this was perfect for me. The food came at a speedy pace and the pickled betroot was divine. My steak was cooked to perfection and the waiting staff were really kind. There was quiet music playing which suited the vibe in the dining room. Thanks for a lovely meal!
good quality produced cooked to a high standard, happy to recommend to potential diners.
Great food & ambience, but disappointing wine (admittedly the cheapest)
Genuinely fantastic. Everything about cafe at honore was perfect
Perfect day topped of with a great meal ,great food in a great setting ,very attentive staff
Lovely French restaurant- lively but not noisy. Good food & excellent service, highly recommended .
Excellent food and friendly efficient service, and very congenial and peaceful atmosphere
Food was really nice, accompanied with good service and staff.
Fantastic food, well served in a buzzy restaurant
This is our favourite restaurant. Fantastic food and relaxing atmosphere.
Great for those special romantic meals together.
Lovely food; excellent service; a great place for lunch with friends.
Went for my graduation celebration. They provided a wonderful vegan menu for me, which was delicious! Incredible, locally sourced food and an amazing setting!
Wonderful food, excellent and friendly service, lovely ambience.
Cafe St Honore never fails to deliver. On a miserable grey Edinburgh afternoon you are whisked away to somewhere welcoming and warm in France. It is an experience and not just a meal
Truly a fabulous dining experience with attentive, polite and professional service.
My wife and I have been visiting Cafe St Honore for many years and since Neil Forbes and his team took over, also many years ago, the food has been simply wonderful.
When we return to Scotland every summer from the USA the first place we head for is Cafe St Honore and yesterday’s lunch was fantastic.
The beets starter was delicious and the lamb was pull apart tender and so tasty.
So glad the restaurant survived through the restrictions of the pandemic.
Thank you to Neil and the team.

Excellent food with a very French ambience! Thank you for a wonderful meal & brilliant service.
Our visit was to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was an excellent venue for it. We both had the Hake dish which was beautiful. Fish melted in your mouth. We had a bottle of the house wine which was also very enjoyable at an excellent price.
I was hoping to have the beef shin pie but it must have been on last weeks menu, but the pork cheeks were meltingly delicious and the chantey carrots sublime.
The treacle tart could have been a trifle larger but it was more caramel than syrup based to my mind but delightful all the same,
The no alcohol rule is a bore a nice Beaujolais would have made this an an even more pleasant experience.
Great meal, great restaurant, we were well looked after in a safe environment.
A trip to Cafe St Honore is always a treat- if feels like a true escape as if one is actually in Paris. The food is always wonderful, without exception. Diners have the choice of a more expensive a la carte, or a very agreeable ‘Cafe Classics’ menu. Ingredients are seasonal, high quality and locally sourced.
Given the current restrictions on hospitality we missed the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and the atmosphere was slightly muted- not the restaurants fault however and we will certainly look forward to returning in future.
Been here twice — once for dinner and once for lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. it’s a great restaurant with a relaxed, informal feel.
I really enjoyed my meal at Café St Honoré even without alcohol. I had a delicious smoked trout pâté followed by a fennel Tarte tatin which was really delicious.
Classic french cooking - ambience like a left bank bistro - cheerful knowledgeable service - first class
Great restaurant, still a lovely lunch even in mid lockdown.
An excellent meal - as ever. We chose the Café Classics and enjoyed all three courses. Good value. Only thing missing was a glass or two of wine!
Looking forward to our next visit.
Even when you can only look at the wine - since alcoholic drinks are off the menu at present - Cafe St Honore gives you the pleasing sense of stepping out of the modern world and into a more glamorous era: Paris of the 1920s, perhaps. Beetroot salad with crowdie, apple, radish and candied walnuts is a joy. Hake was done to perfection, arriving in a pool of finely cut leek, potato, bacon & broth. Lunching alone as a birthday treat has never felt more soothing. Can I go back tomorrow please?
Unique French atmosphere and appropriate menu in these difficult times
Went for lunch for my friend’s birthday. The food was amazing, service was brilliant and the waitresses were lovely.
Would visit again!
Excellent place to have Saturday lunch on a grey November day. Food was delicious.
