Caffe Concerto 78 Brompton Road
I was told prior to going that they had children's menus, I was also sent to main menu. Got there and no children's menus (so £19 for a burger and £17 for a sandwich). The prices were also much more expensive than the menu I was sent. It's a shame as it sullied our experience. Wine is very reasonable though and the staff were friendly.
The staff were so rude, didn't greet us properly and it took a very long time to get served. My friend ordered a croissant, only for the waiter to forget it and then deliver a totally different one when prompted because they sold out. We didn't even get an apology!
Service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter couldn't care less about us. First, he made us wait for a good ten minutes before he came to take our order. Also, the café was nearly empty. Even so, we got just about the worst seats. I had made a reservation saying that I wanted to have lunch at Caffe Concerto to celebrate my 50th birthday with my parents. My dad had loved the place when we were there last year, which is why I wanted to surprise them. A simple 'happy birthday, Sir' would have been enough, but apparently even that was too much to ask for. What a disappointment.
There was a communication problem right from the start . We had to repeat our order and we never seemed to get the same waiter, the team seemingly concentrating on customers wanting just snacks. One starter only half arrived - the olives with no bread ---- which followed later after a reminder. The salmon x2 was tepid to say the least and we had to have them re-heated and one main dish was either late or the waiter had forgotten to serve it. Four of us sat and watched the fifth eat his meal. My wife's pepper sauce for the steak was completely missed. And everything seemed to take forever. We left with the feeling that Cafe Concerto is set up to be just that, a Cafe, and not suitable, geared up, for dining.
Enjoyed a light lunch, speciality sandwich with glass of Prosecco. Good choice of ingredients and sufficient amount, also included potato wedges. Slightly pricey for what it was but good ambience, pleasant attentive staff and convenient location in Knightsbridge made up for this.
I’ve been to many Caffe Concertos but this was my first visit. I had read a few bad reviews on service but as my previous experience in different branches had been good, I decided to give them a chance. So so disappointed... cakes we’re henetally good although we did have a small fly on a berry tarts. When reported, the waiter took it away and gave us a different tart. I did expect a manager to come and apologise but nothing! I suppose the manager was struggling with his staff as the service was slow. I asked for the bill five times before it arrived and then had to ask a water again five times to bring their card machine. The bad service is letting them down as the ambience is good and cakes look lovely. I suppose with such a good location they’re not bothered about customers not returning for a second visit. Again a huge shame as it might put off customers from other branches too!!!
The service was really bad. We had to ask multiple times for things like our main course, more water, dessert menu and the check. And when the check finally came we noticed they’d added a ‘discretionary’ 12.5% gratuity for NOTHING! Rich really on a party of 2. When we complained about the service we were offered macaroons. Really?? Not in London that often but I won’t be back and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know.
Really disappointed in the service. We ordered a bottle of champagne and the presentation was terrible. Food was not good. Won’t be going back or recommending to others.
Good, friendly service and an enjoyable meal. Perfect for an informal dinner.
Good for the price good quality for 8,50 for the English breakfast and nice people
A group of us decided to visit Caffe Concerto due to the good reviews and we were not disappointed. Once seated we took time to decide what to eat due to the generous amount of dishes on the menu. We finally decided and the food arrived not too long afterwards. The food was divine and rich and all of the group really enjoyed it. I would totally recommend it to anyone.
Some of the food was a bit tough. Staff pleasant but service slow, although it was busy. On the flip side it’s not one of those restaurants that try and rush you out after you put down your fork.
Selected a corner table for a social/business meeting. Half way through the meeting it transpired that the door next to our table was in fact the entrance to a toilet. We only found this out when the waiter showed a customer where it was and from then on instead of using the regular facilities downstairs it became the place to use completely ruining the meeting. Table was booked but not prepapared? Nice place but ?
It was the worst customer service I ever witnessed in my life. Waste of time and money. Stay away from that place, its a disgrace.
Embarrassment to the restaurant industry. Should be appealed and ashamed of the service. Atrocious!
Although table booked for 6 p.m. we took the chance and arrived at 5 p.m. as absolutely exhausted from a day of Christmas shopping and we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Cocktails were refreshing and meal cooked to perfection. Mixed fruit tart was delicious. Staff very friendly and fun. My friends and I visit London just before Christmas every year and this was a perfect venue - we will certainly plan the same for next Christmas.
Great food but served on cold plates! They did offer to change them but we were short of time. We also needed to remind the waitress that our pre lunch drinks had not arrived! Not the best Bellini that I have tasted! We were given macaroons as a gesture of apology.
This is my second time at Cafe Concerto and I love the place and the atmoshphere. Last time I went to a different one and both times I experienced only one negative thing: in both we felt like we were rushed out to order and finish quickly. Other than this trait, I woupd recommend the place.
Expensive menu. The prices are too high for what you get.Not good value for money. Poor service overall. Sorry cannot write a better review
Really easy going atmosphere- our party came in at different times but there was not a hint of annoyance about this. A very refreshing change. We happily chatted, ate and drank in a vibrant and busy place, without feeling like we had to leave. Recommended by a friend I would definitely go again. Thank you.
Was told this branch doesn't take bookings! But was still seated v quickly. Busy place- food was a bit slower than it should be but we were warned about this because there were 'crazy busy'. Apart from the problem re the booking it was all v good.
Very happy to discover such a place! Staff, service, food, ambiance, etc. All excellent!
It was good all round lunch to celebrate a birthday
The restaurant has a nice interior decor that was welcoming. The staff were also welcoming and friendly.
The food tasted great and I will be back here.
Slow disorganised waiters but very helpful management
This was a perfect place to meet and eat after our visit to The Natural History Museum. I've eaten before on a pre-theatre dinner when our show was on at The Royal Albert Hall. Impressed with the ambience, quality setting the staff and of course the food. My friend found as I did that it was good value for money. Not had a bad meal here. Highly recommend it. Has the advantage of some outside tables and seating in the summer. Good choice of food and wines and the desserts are a house speciality. Has the advantage of being able to tell your friends that you eat opposite Harrods. Quite important when you've travelled from Cambridgeshire.
Was looking forward to eating here but the service was poor. Waiter not once checked to see if we needed anything and he was not even the one who delivered our food. Ordered appetizer that didn't come till the food came. Then I see our water leave while we are eating and again no one ever came to check on us. Finally had to ask someone for the check and then no one came to get me to pay the check. I eventually got up and went to the manager who stayed on the phone the whole time I was there and never said anything to me; just took my credit card and had me sign. NO eye contact much less dialogue.
One last note. Their restrooms downstairs were out of order so everyone was being made to go to a handicapped one in the back of the dining room.
Excelent food and environment. The restaurant is a place where we feel confortable to seat and choose what we want. The food is excelent with a fair price. My only complaint is about the staff team. Seemed we were there as a favor, not as a costumer. Organising this aspect will garantee a perfect place to eat in London.
Came here for brunch and a catch-up with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. The brunch menu has a great range and the coffee is excellent. After our food, my friend and I sat talking for an hour and we weren't disturbed, which I found really refreshing. We were able to attract the waiter's attention easily. Overall, highly recommended.
Love the food here, never fails to dissappoint us.
We actually dined at the Caffe Concerto 152 Brompton Road but I was unable to change the TT booking online so called the restaurant to arrange the switch. We moved venue as the set menu wasn't available at the 78 Brompton Road branch. We were a party of 10 having the Christmas set menu. Food was good and reasonable value for the time of year, although drinks were pricey (especially soft drinks) and 12.5% service charge was added. We all had 2 courses with one drink and the bill worked out at £22 each.
Caffe Concerto is located in a very good spot next to Knightsbridge station. However, I didnt find the experience that good.First of all the service was slow and it took us a very long time to get our mains. I ordered the salad wtih the salmon. Then portion wasnt that big and the salmon was way over cooked so very tough to cut into. I have been to other Caffe Concertos which have been a lot better!
