Caffe Concerto Kings Road
Nice location and decor, we have eaten here many times and has been 5 star for service excellent breakfast menu for choice, something for everyone
on this visit a Sunday, service was slow and dull, food was very good though, as we have come to expect, hence the lower score
A lovely time to meet up with old school friends. We were not hurried in any way and the food and service was very good. Lovely jolly lunch. Thank you.
Excellent experience. This was a late booking prior to going to the theatre. Service was efficient, quick and welcoming. Food was plentiful and well presented. We have promised ourselves we would return to try some other dishes on the extensive menu! Thank you!
Caffe Concerto is OK, but that's all it is. I'd expect more from a meal costing £70 for 2 adults and a child. My son complained his egg sandwich tasted "cheesey" and it did, not in a good way. I probably should have complained but in my haste to leave on time for a christening decided to pay and run. My main course of risotto was fine - the portion was huge. My friend said she enjoyed her pannini - though it was no tastier than something you'd buy in Costa.
The service was very slow (it would have been, even if we weren't in a hurry). I had to ask the waiter to take our order, to clear our plates and order coffees and to bring the bill. I came away with the overall sense that Caffe Concerto feels it doesn't have to try very hard because it's in such a central location with a captive crowd... and that's probably true, the place was bustling and busy. I won't be returning in a hurry.
Pre- theatre meal for seven of us, despite them having sent confirmation email and text reminder they couldn't find our booking, which did not matter as the place was almost empty. Nobody ordered a starter and the drinks order was taken fairly soon, 45 minutes then elapsed before the main courses arrived with the last of these being more than 5 minutes after the others.
Two of us had the fish and chips which came with one smallish fillet of fish, American style chips not chip chop chips, and no garnish. For £15 plus this was not value for money.
Service was again slow in providing us with the bill, nobody was overtly impressed with their food and for one course with one drink and including service at £25 per head we will not be returning.
We had a very good meal but there was a problem with our Open Table booking. The restaurant said it had a problem with Open Table or was no longer using Open Table. While we were able to get a table for 7 people, they weren't expecting us and they weren't able to provide the birthday cake for my son we had ordered which proved a major disappointment. I have no complaint against Caffe Concerto but clearly there is a problem with the Open Table/Caffe Concerto relationship and people booking Caffe Concerto thru Open Table are advised to check directly with the restaurant when booking.
2 out of 5 of us have intolerances. The first waiter to serve us didn't know about certain things we asked about so went to check, the first time he came back but then had to go and ask about something else and never came back again. He also forgot to give our drinks order in so we waited ages for those and had to reorder. The 2nd waiter (possible a manager) was extremely helpful and was quite a laugh too. The food was tasty.
When we were asking about the vegan cakes (just double checking no dairy as we have had a so called vegan cake that had dairy in elsewhere) the original first waiter refused to confirm that the Vegan cakes were dairy free and just said it was best not to have it.
The 2nd waiter, however, did come over and answered our question and couldn't have been more helpful.
I visit these restaurants regularly and they never let me down. Good food, pleasant wine and a nice atmosphere.
Staff had no knowledge of our booking. Very poor service, lukewarm food that was passable at best & left me with a dogdy stomach for the next 24hrs. Average price for neighbourhood but quality of food did not match up.
A real disappointment.
We went for lunch with a friend and it was a really lovely experience. The food was very good indeed and the service was magnificent. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
I had booked through Open Table but they didn’t have our booking. I showed them the confirmation I had. The waiter looked for our names in his book for a while which was basically a blank page with 3 names on it. He then said he would speak to his manager. We then were given a table. It was Valentine’s Day but we didn’t want anything from the set menu and I hadn’t booked the set menu anyway but was told we couldn’t have the normal menu. We said we would leave and was then told we could have their normal menu. Not a good start but it got a little better. The food was nice and service picked up. The only other thing was two members of staff started arguing in front of us at the end of the meal. I interrupted to ask for the loo as it was embarrassing.
We enjoyed a light Sunday lunch as that was all we wanted. Very good choices on the menu.Comfortable table for the 5 of us & good atmosphere. We thought the bill was rather high.
Over priced average food; head waiter most unhelpful
Wrong order sent, they said that they would send the right order but it never arrived so we ended up eating the meal we did not what as we had to leave to go to a show and they charged us 12.5 service charge
We turned up earlier than our booked time. This didn't appear to be any problem for the staff even though they were obviously quite busy. The staff were very efficient and friendly. There was plenty of food on the plate and it was of a high quality. Altogether a very pleasant experience.
Six of us had a great time here. The service was very good. The food very reasonably priced. The cake selection is exceptional!
Manager claimed not to have any knowledge of our booking. He said the restaurant did not accept bookings through open table. He was very rude.
Pleasant Italian cuisine convenient for Cadogan Hall
As we entered were greeted and we said we are a bit early booked in for 8pm for 2 he said 'doesn't matter'. He then sat us down at an unset table no glasses napkins cutlery side plates etc. Took 30 min for him to come over to take drinks order by this point we had looked through the entire menu so just ordered it all at once. He then said it was his first weekend. Ok. He then was processing order for a long time then ran over to bar 10 min later to give our order. Drinks then took a further 15 min and could hear bartender getting in a huff over not being able to locate liqueur that was right there on bar. Senior staff did nothing to help our experience until the end eg did not tell him to set the table or help him with putting order through etc, no one asked how our meal was just asked about 5 times if we wanted desserts or coffee.
Food however was fantastic but service absolutely appalling ... can accept it was a new starter but the other staff just left him to it, all throughout the night was thinking we should have gone to the Knightsbridge restaurant instead.
Wide ranging menu which is good value and the service is friendly and professional. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Excellent choice of cakes! Good range of items to choose from the menu and tasty!
Go to various Cafe Concerto's on a fairly regular basis, as in good convenient locations when Shopping or visiting Cinema, Theatre, Music Venues. Also tend to be near Tube Stations. Sometimes I gofor Lunch, sometimes for 'Tea' and also for Dinner pre-Cinema, Theatre etc.
They are a good all rounder Eatery, where friends can either eat 'Sweet' or 'Savoury' + 'Beverages' or 'Alcohol' so suit all.
I like the general Decor of Red Furnishings, Chandeliers, Mirrors as remind me of Brassieres & Coffee Houses on the Continent. Gives a 'cosy' feel. And the Front Window Cakes always look appetising ! The waitress we had at the Kings Road last week, was particularly friendly & efficient, lovely lady !
The Service is generally very good, but have had the 'odd disappointment' (Whitehall branch for one, we were forgotten !). A good 'Staple' place to eat in Central London.
Very nice, relaxed environment with friendly waiter service. Really nice lunch time spot!
Excellent service, good food and presentation, real serviettes! Clean and attractive. Toilets could do with a bit of smartening up.
Staff are excellent and great with children. They all seem really happy to work there and with each other and that translates into good service, good humour - and the food is good too. A place that works for everyone at every age in the family. Great for meeting friends too.
This is always a great spot to meet friends pre-concert or pre-theatre. The waiting staff are always attentive, good-natured and efficient and the menu offers plenty of choice from a ciabatta snack to steak and lobster. The afternoon tea always looks pretty good and one day I'll give it a try. The clientele are a wonderful mixture of nationalities and ages and the décor is elegant and very mid-European - reminiscent of the great coffee houses of Vienna. For all these reasons, as well as the quality of the food, the Caffe Concerto restaurants are a frequent choice and highly recommended for ambience and good value for money.
Staff very friendly, service and food good, enjoyed it very much.
I was annoyed because my booking was not on the system. Staff did not have a table for me as a result.
I have eaten here many times just with my daughter, but this was the second time I have booked for a group for lunch. Getting through to book was impossible, kept going to book online message, which I eventually reluctantly did. Not noted when we arrived.
However, thereafter our experience was all good. Friendly, helpful staff. Our food arrived without too much delay and no complaints.
My lamb was very tasty although I felt the mash was rather gluey. Opposite me, two companions had ordered salads, both were beautifully presented and I was told the seafood salad was delicious, the other was salmon and was also very good. Another guest had fish and chips and complimented that. Not sure of the other orders, but certainly everyone was happy.
The choice of puddings is good and there are gorgeous looking cakes, though we just went straight to teas or coffees.
We were all happy, the bill was reasonable and I will go again and am happy to recommend this restaurant.
We enjoyed our meal at Cafe Concerto which was a pre-theatre dinner. The service was excellent and the food not the cheapest, but good quality and lovely presentation.
Very good venue for after-concert dining, nice friendly and efficient staff. The food was good with the exception that my partner's steak was served with the wrong sauce. Once this was rectified, the meal was very enjoyable. I would particularly recommend the excellent chips.
Nice place and nice food. We had a pleasant dinner before a concert in Cadogan Hall. Starter for share is worth trying.
Ask to sit further inside if you mind the smell of cigarettes from smokers sitting outside.
I do like the formal atmosphere of the Cafe Concerto. The waiters are dressed well and very professional in their service. Tables are well laid out. The food is very good and served quickly - especially good as we had a concert at Cadogan Hall to go to an hour after arrival and easily met the timing.
The bistro was busy when we arrived and so quite noisy. We stayed a long time and were not pressed for our table. Service faltered at shift change over. Overall good value for money and convenient for Cadogan Hall.
Sadly the service was very slow and lacked the attentiveness expected of a modern restaurant. This spoiled the experience.
Food very average and service unfriendly.
I asked for a salad with avocado and the avocado was not ripe, but hard. I complained about it but received no apology. A good restaurant would have deducted it from the bill, but it was not!
I shall not go there again.
Food was delicious and service was great. Paulo was very helpful and patient as we couldn't decide what to eat. A few small adjustments were made to the dishes we ordered and this was not an issue. Portion size is very generous.
We often go to Cafe Concerto for our pre-theatre (Cadogan Hall) dinner and it hasn't disappointed us so far. I had pre-booked a table for two for 5:30 p.m. and the restaurant was quite empty so when we arrived we had a choice of seating. The waiting staff were very pleasant and advised us about changes we wanted to some of the menu items. The meal was quickly prepared and served and was very tasty. We had no problem in eating quite comfortably in time to walk over to Cadogan Hall by 7:00 p.m.
Sadly, we turned up for our booking made on Opentable and there was no table. Ivan, rather aggressively, told us that they checked Opentable once per day, in the morning, and any booking made since then would be disregarded. No sense of care or ownership - just aggression. I'd say this place is best avoided, and if I owned the place, I would part company with Ivan...
