It was lovely to be back after so long. It was still as amazing as I remember. Thank you to all the staff.
Great for a work lunch. Solid food and quiet setting enables easy business talk. Very good Italian and only down point is tired decor.
Food was very good table service was very slow
Nice looking dining room, though it had a bit of a 90s feel to it. Great reception on arrival. Lovely champagne and starters/mains. Very generous portions, which is great. However, once the Redtsurant became busy, the service al but disappeared. Waited ages for desert menus snd eventually just had to ask another waiter for the bill.
It’s a great venue, but my visit badly let down by poor waiter service.
I have been to Caravaggio several times in past few years and always been very happy. Hence why i took 3 friends to dinner there on Friday evening. It was very quiet at 8:00pm which was not surprising in the city on a Friday evening, we were the only diners. service was polite but slow and not particularly attentive, we often had to sit with empty plates or glasses in front of us. the Open table menu was very poor so not at all tempting on the special 2 or 3 course deal.
We chose a main course each from the menu (2 of us had plates of pasta, one had warm cod another veal with little else) we had some bread and olives, 2 of us had a pudding, we all left unsatisfied and still hungry. the food was average at best. we did have 2 bottles of wine (total £70) so the final bill came as a huge shock, for a dull Pasta meal. £230 for 4 people! I wish i had asked for 12.5% service to be removed, as this was unacceptable.
You could have a far better meal & experience for that amount of money. Will not return.
Reliably attentive, good food and perfect ambience for a quick chat over food
I had forgotten there were 5 steps at the entrance but two staff came to help my friend up while I carried the wheelchair. I had booked under the London Restaurant Festival menu BUT note on one email that there was another, cheaper, menu! I wAs charged for the LFR menu . we were offered a glass of "champagne"BUT the menu specifies Prosecco, which it was! There is NO adapted toilet but the staff let me friend use a door marked Private where there WAS a lavatory she could use. We had help getting down the steps when we left. Although we were late arriving because of missing one bus then me going along Fenchurch Street NOT Leadenhall,we were seated quickly. It seems there was a problem as,although I booked via Open Table,I had an email saying we had NOT attended.
Food was terrible , greasy and awful.
Food was nothing special. I was expecting more. Ambience and service was good
I would highly recommend coming here. The food was cooked exceptionally well!
Super friendly staff, delicious food
lovely food & service - a little quiet on a Friday evening
Awesome food and wine - good service - definitely come back again
I have never been to a restaurant where the main course is brought out while you are still eating your starters and the server stands there and waits for you too finish so he can swap the plates.
It was a business lunch and incredibly embarrassing, I would never use Caravaggio again.
The service was appalling. Our mains took an extremely long time and 5 of the 6 mains came out 5 minutes before the final one. This is especially bad considering the missing main was exactly the same as 3 others ordered. They also forgot a side that was ordered. We then had to look around for someone to serve us and clear our plates. We then ordered dessert and coffee. We had to chase the coffees 3 times and they finally came out about 5 minutes after the desserts, and the desserts took a while. They also missed off one of the desserts off the order.
They did remove the coffees and the missed items from the bill but they did not seem overly bothered by their poor service.
Hadn't eaten here in many years - could not recommend. My risotto was completely underdone and quite tasteless. Expensive and not very good value.
We are sorry that the risotto was undercooked and rightly so we did not charge for it. In terms of taste, this client asked for the spring onions to be removed and as this is one of the main ingredients of the dish with the tiger prawns it is inevitable that the final taste is altered. We could only be obliging to the request. It is one of our most popular dish on the menu. Expensive? That is debatable as similar restaurants in the area are vastly more expensive than us.
Food was delicious, service was attentive very nice and popular restaurant.
Not the cheapest
Excellent as always
Food was great but service was terrible. 45 minutes to get our first drink, and the waiter seemed to take delight in making us wait when we requested that someone attend to us.
Arrived at an empty (there were no other diners when we arrived on a Friday night) and cold restaurant. One waitress and one bar manager. No option of a pre dinner drink, no offer of water for the table and when we requested wine it was not available (no sommelier to provide advice on alternatives) so they pushed a more expensive option.
Food was below par and I have had home cooked pasta dishes which were better! The starters lacked imagination, one lump of mozzarella with a single semi dried tomato was one dish that was served, whilst the second option sounded far better than it delivered, brioche with wild mushrooms, poached duck egg - well the mushrooms were few and far between, the egg over done and whatever was over the top of the egg was cold and therefore changed the overall dish temperature.
During our meal we were joined by 9 other diners, although 2 left after reviewing the menu. This could be the choice of food on the menu (no pizza and few pastas for an Italian is unusual) or the coldness of the venue - there were a vast array of tables over two floors sitting empty, which for a Friday night in the City of London is hard to achieve.
There was a total lack of ambiance, the staff looked bored and had no energy or chat with the customers, it was clearly over priced for what was delivered. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not be revisiting.
My favourite little restaurant for lunch when in town and in need of a convenient working lunch. The food is first class. Fresh pasta served beautifully with wonderful flavours. Service is top rate and as good as any service to be found in London. Has been consistently great over many years of frequenting. Thank you
Food were good with generous portions and were reasonably priced. Good wine list with some interesting wines on the list at affordable prices. Additionally, impressive services.
Considering the location, main clienteles were the City business people, but like ourselves on the day, it still serve well with casual non-business occasion.
If you are looking for good Italian restaurant, make sure to visit Caravaggio!
Caravaggio is looking quite old and tired now. It's not a restaurant in which to relax, with the bright lights and mirrors keeping the place too bright and showing up the age. The food was ok, but not great and the wine list could be described in the same way.
A great find, quiet, perfect service, excellent food, all my guests were impressed and happy with their food and value for money.
A very enjoyable lunch at this city institution.
Food and Service was wonderful as ever.
Excellent business lunch venue with very helpful staff, good atmosphere but easy to have conversations and great food
Food took ages considering there was no customers!!! The food was not great a takeaway is better! The place was so empty that’s tells you something. Me and my friends had to whisper as our voice echoed!! Won’t be going back even if the food was free..
Had a wonderful business lunch, good to be able to talk without background noise drowning out conversation.
As ever the food and service were faultless.
Definitely recommend this as a lunch venue.
Great food and great location. Fabulous Italian food.
An excellent place to meet and hold a working lunch or special occasion .
The place has large glass windows on to the street and the ground floor is very light and airy.
Small bar on the ground floor holds no more than a dozen for a before drink.
Very helpful, polite , smiles on faces and the service in terms of time wait for food to attentiveness was 5 star.
The menus is varied without being too large and offers good selection. I had the lamb which was excellent.
Lunch for 5 , 3 course, coffee, a couple of rounds of beers before and two bottles of wine was £440.
About right for the location and venue.
Another very good meal in Caravaggio’s with as ever classic Italian fare with a modern twist e.g. prawn risotto very light and flavoursome
Lovely restaurant with good food and service. This was a client based lunch and the client was very impressed.
It’s in a lovely location with a easy to manage menu. The food was decent. Sea bass was lovely. The host (we didn’t catch his name) was very welcoming and friendly but in general the service from others lacked warmth and enthusiasm. It wasn’t particularly busy on a Wednesday evening so good for a business meal
It was a quite night, so the service was speedy and very attentive. Which made the experience all that more wonderful!
I think the quietness of this restaurant, which I love and have been to many times over the last 10 years, on a Friday lunchtime, is testament to a market trend but also a slight deterioration of standards and value. But it is still worth going to - I fear for it though
Second visit and food was very tasty. Lovely Italian feel to the menu. Service fairly quick. We were put in a corner upstairs which I would have changed and there is a distinct lack of smiles from the staff. Cheer up peeps! You have an unspoiled gem to look after.
Service and food seamless as ever. The veal escalope Milanese is well worth a try, although this time, it wasn't as crisp as in the past, and the veal was a little over cooked.
Always a classic, good food and always good service.
