Caravan King's Cross
Kept being pestered to order every few minutes, felt like we were being rushed out too. Food was tasty. Cocktails were not so great as was fine.
Good place, nice ambiance but a bit disappointed with food, too expensive for the quality and quantity.
Always love it here - the cornbread is an absolute favourite!
I want to love Canteen, but I can't.
Waited for a good 20 minutes before being offered a drink.
Had to ask a second time to get said drink.
Served by a number of different servers - never a great recipe.
Food is generally good, quality decent and price isn't too punchy.
But with KX offering so many different, superior places to eat at, they need to up their game.
Nice food and drinks, took a while to be asked for our drinks order after sitting down but otherwise service is good.
Lovely food, quick service and great atmosphere.
As ever the food was very good, the service excellent and the buzz energetic. We weren’t rushed and stayed for over 3 hours. Excellent lunch!
he breakfast is very good, to bad that it is very noisy and that the waiters are oppressive.
Food was good but it seemed like the staff were in a bit of a hurry to get finished.
Loved the food. The atmosphere is great, although very loud so hard to hear your dinner companions speak.
The waiter was polite and efficient, but could have been friendlier and a little bit more attentive. Once we'd been served our main courses, we went for quite a while before anyone approached us again to check if we needed anything else.
My guest and I had a lovely evening. We very much enjoyed being able to select from the ‘small plate’ menu rather than one main menu. The fusion of flavours and texture from the dishes on offer were a first for us and very much enjoyed. A good selection of wines on offer to match the dishes and being able to order by the glass was very sensible. We also like the fact that there was a decent carafe of water at the table and it was carefully replenished as and when. Our waiter was most attentive without being intrusive. All in all a really lovely evening out. Thank you.
Not to my liking at all. Very loud venue (mainly because of the music). Food selection not great (especially dessert menu- 6 types of ice cream and 1 cake), neither was the quality. Tables squeezed in very close to each other, poor value for money. Service was OK, although a bit disorganised, just one person at the reception, which means longer time, starters arriving before drinks, etc.
All good after the MA show at CSM.
Great service and food despite being late on Friday.
Very cool place! Nice to go with friends after work or for a date.
Great food for value. Portions of the small plates were a bit smaller than we expected but overall the food was delicious. The service was ok. Our waiter seems nice and friendly but at times uninterested and was busy chatting to other colleagues when we needed something. We still enjoyed it.
Food as ever was great, albeit my portion didn’t really leave me full (chorizo and potato hash). Service very friendly but we waited just over 15 mins for our coffee which ended up arriving at the same time as the food, with hot drinks it’s nice to be able to have them before the food.
Even for London finding that the prices are getting more and more steep - £5 for one piece of halloumi.
Overall good food and friendly service but a couple of mistakes and the prices make me think there’s much better value to be had elsewhere.
Thanks for a fantastic evening. It was great to catch up with my friends here and you were very accommodating letting us get an extra seat at the table. and the cocktails were delish!
a regular hang out, getting busier all the time. Nice vibe for romantic evening, work, meeting friends
The guy who was serving is was OUTSTANDING!!!
He went out of his way to please our little one (we had our 3-year old boy with us) and he was absolutely perfect!! H e even brought him free ice-cream because it was his birthday :)
BTW I would like to say that the place is not really kids-friendly, because it appears in a number of kids sites. Noise levels are VERY high for little ones (and for ipads/iphones so they cannot really watch anything) tables are very close to each other so kids disturb people next to the, and there is nothing kids can actually do!
However, GREAT FOR ADULTS ;)
Fascinating menu with plenty of choice for all tastes. Interesting combination of ingredients in a true fusion style. Lively energetic place with friendly, helpful and enthusiastic staff. We asked a question about the 'halloumi' and the waiter came back with an comprehensive answer.
Great range of small and large plates to share including vegan and veggie options. Big fan of the roasted cauliflower. Service was friendly and attentive. Dessert menu was a real let down, so we ordered the cheese board, and were then advised they had run out of cheese (?!). Our waiter offered us two free desserts so we gave them a try. But they were both disappointing. So go for the great range of mains to share with friends. Lively ambience. Give the desserts a miss.
Caravan you can do better .. where was a nice warming crumble or sticky toffee pudding for the winter menu?
Nice atmosphere. Friendly but absent waiters. Terrible food.
The service was incredibly slow, I don’t just mean the time for food to arrive. It was mainly just trying to make an order. As an example, I asked for a dessert menu three times before it came. We just get ignored at every stage of the meal, ordering, clearing tables, dessert, asking for the bill.
Not sure of it was related but I’ve never seen so many children in a restaurant before. We counted 12 under the age of 3. The noise made hearing my friend speak challenging.
Great brunh and lunch place, we enjoyed the drinks (ginger beer, lattes, ..) and the inspired dishes.
At its best, the sharing plates are incredibly varied and tasty. Can be too loud, but very acceptable noise levels this time.
Delicious food - lots of fantastic vegan and veg options – and wonderful service. Only drawback is the noise factor - loud music and big groups. But it's a great restaurant on many levels.
We are used to come in your restaurant. But this time we were quite disappointed. The food was ok. But the service was efficient but not friendly at all. And one of my dishes was forgotten ....
Met friends for breakfast who were coming back from Paris on the Eurostar. Superb breakfast menu with interesting veggie and gluten free options. Excellent coffee and great service.
If you want the noisy busyness of King's Cross in the evening - particularly weekends - this is a good place as it's very friendly, the food is interesting and tasty. Staff work incredibly hard but there are enough of them and they are v helpful.
Have always loved this place. Great vibe, great cocktails, great food.
Fun, busy atmosphere but music too loud, unable to hold conversations despite repeatedly asking staff.
I love Caravan, and the food was great. Portion sizes are bit confusing though, some starters much larger than others. Also, this was my 1st weekday lunchtime visit, and there were A LOT of mums and babies in there.... I had only been weekends and evenings before, so not noticed this on other visits. Personally, I prefer a more grown ups only vibe, so in future may not go again at same time. That being said, the food is lovely as always and it is a very cool setting.
The food is always good here - excellent flavours and textures. What they do with cauliflower is incredible! The halloumi was slightly disappointing.
The music was very high, especially on a Tuesday night, given for once the place wasn’t totally full and everyone seemed to have to shout at their dinner partners...
The whole of Granary Square lost its gas supply just after we arrived so much of the menu was 'off'. The staff dealt with this spectacularly well, with grace and equanimity. Congratulations to them! It was incredibly noisy for two oldies, but we'd both happily go back.
Great service. Really helpful when one of two diners was delayed and time was constrained by having a train to catch. Personable efficient staff, good choice of food and drink. Most importantly great innovative fusion food in decent quantities including deserts. A bit noisy and a little pricey - but I’m a middle-aged northerner so it’s probably me!
This restaurant never disappoints. The food and service are great.
Only go to this restaurant if you like to shout to be heard. The tables are quite deep so that makes the problem worse. Service fun, though food feeling a bit tired in comparison with, say, the Coal Office.
We found a reasonable selection of vegan/plant based dished so happy with that. My partner and I shared a pizza, which was a good size, very tasty (lots of garlic) and really good base. We also shared 2 small plates, which were less impressive - not so tasty and small for the price. The vegan chocolate desert was also quite average. My water kefir was lovely though.
Overall though, the buzzing atmosphere, music, service and the food made a good evening.
Thankyou for a really lovely dinner. Our first server was fabulous. I would have appreciated them being a little more attentive to our empty glasses. The server who bought the bill was somewhat brusque....
Fabulous food xx
Edamame beans dry and old, flat bread unpleasant blah blah blah
