Caravan King's Cross
What Insiders Are Saying
The Kings Cross branch of Aussie coffee shop and all-day restaurant is perfect for flat whites and laid-back brunches. It’s also good for groups.
We would have loved to give Caravan a higher mark.
After all, the restaurant was buzzing and the service was good.
But, at the end of the day, it’s supposed to be a restaurant, so the food has to be ‘good’ at the very least.
The cod dumplings weren’t a patch on any similarly priced Chinese restaurant and the dominant taste was chilli.
The croquettes were a poor imitation of what you’d get in a half decent tapas bar. They were pretty tasteless, apart from salt.
The pan fried sea bass was fine, but the ‘salad’ it sat on was so so spicy (chilli again) that it was virtually inedible.
And the nduja pizza had so little topping that it was effectively a plain pizza with a few bits on top.
It may be that the predominantly young crowd either don’t know or don’t care about the food Caravan serves.
The owners should make the dishes less complicated for the amateurs who are in the kitchen.
Or they should hire some decent chefs.
All lovely as always. One complaint however. Booked a table for 4 with only 3 of us able to go. My error however we were squeezed onto a table for 2 with an extra chair at the side. Rather pokey space and not enough table space for dishes for 3 people. Had to shuffle the food between plates just to manage to use the table.
Gorgeous good but needed a nicer table experience.
Food was absolutely wonderful - vegetarian pizza. Service was very good. Though the room's a bit noisy and canteen-like in its ambience for an upmarket restaurant, otherwise I'd have given it 5 stars.
I have been before and enjoyed the experience both the food and the style and ambience
The disappointment this week was just the food - cold eggs and not cooked as requested.
Nice for breakfast. Overpriced and not that inspiring food for dinner!
Our first visit- chosen purely because of the location to Kings Cross station, so no idea what to expect, we arrived late due to traffic, but rang ahead and we were reassured it wasn't a problem, a lovely welcome from everyone, efficient friendly service, great food and delicious wine ( a bit more than we planned to spend on wine but we ordered without looking at the list so entirely our mistake) - really enjoyed our visit thankyou- none of us are local but all said we would visit again and definitely recommend it!
All great as usual.
This is my go to place for meeting up with friends. Food is great, it's not expensive and the service is usually great! Great selection for vegetarians too!!
Ideale plek om je verblijf in Londen te starten met een stevig ontbijtje! Eurostar uit, Caravan in!
A great choice of really innovative dishes. Lots of great ingredients used to make tasty food served in a cool setting with good service. Wine by the glass list isn't great but fine.
Other than when the bar staff forgot our order of Sepresso Martinis, the service and food were fantastic. We managed to make up for the missing cocktails.
Not our type of restaurant. The food was not that good and it was crowded and noisy
Lentils and cod dumpling started are a must.
Avoid the chicken salad for a main not special at all!
Great food, great place... just a lil bit noisy though!
Great informal dining experience, with quirky and tasty food. Good service and a great vibe about the place.
Service team really good and friendly - fitted three of us in for a table booked for two without any huffing and puffing. Kitchen slow on uptake. Lunch with a new menu being released the day we were there. Took almost 50 minutes from being seated to getting our first dishes (starters). Corn bread was doughy in middle though tasty. Labhne was over worked and dry. The sea-bass ceviche was a daft price for what it is. The meatballs were ok. The halloumi was a good meaty dish. Interesting mix, but more misses than hits on the new menu.
Delicious food. Excellent for sharing. We tried several dishes; all equally amazing. Will definitely return.
Great and boujee place to go to
We really enjoyed eating here! Food and service is great!
My favourite place to go and have recommended this place to many of my friends. Will be back soon.
Excellent evening. Good choice of vegetarian options. Friendly staff. I found the booming bass out of the speakers a bit loud.
Food was superb but service cold and calculating. It was all about getting our food out so that we could leave in time for the next seating.
Great food, tasty and combines old standards with modern flavours.
Busy, exciting venue with great food. Good for veggies and meat eaters alike. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, amazing, exciting flavours. £60 for lunch for 4 with non alcoholic drinks.
Seemed a little understaffed, was tricky to get attention although when we did, all the staff were lovely.
This used to be a favourite restaurant. This visit was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The table was not ready, the service was really terrible, nobody could be bothered, the food was very poor, thrown together and sometimes actually horrible, and the disappointment was huge. I could not recommend this restaurant to anybody. It used to be great, buzzy, and delicious, it's now expensive, unfriendly and awful. Shame!
Incredible food and atmosphere. I recommend trying the confit duck and the spiced cauliflower
Pleasant enough restaurant, industrial style however we had to ask for the music to be turned down as we were shouting at each other over the table and it was only 6pm. They did turn it down but it was still a tad on the loud side.
The Cod dish was really tasty and satisfying. Followed by orange almond cake, really good. The noise level was high and difficult until peak lunchtime was over. We were greeted with 2 glasses of apple juice which we thought were a gift until a waitress came to take them back! But by then we'd already consumed half, so a difficult conversation was had. Eventually it was agreed that they would be on the house
I am a regular diner at Granary Square branch and have enjoyed the experience every time. It is a vast cavern of a space and noisy so wouldn’t recommend as a romantic venue but if you don’t mind the chatter of other diners I’d say definitely try
Fantastic experience! Loved the food and the atmosphere. Staff were excellent and would happily go back.
Caravan was an ideal place for lunch. We chose the small plates and a salad bowl and all were very tasty. I especially liked the broken lamb meatballs. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is large and the music quite loud but there is a good atmosphere. Would definitely go there again.
Love it here, such good food and really friendly great service.
excellent food and cocktails. really interesting flavours. great value too.
This was our first visit to Caravan and we enjoyed every minute. Food was creative, atmosphere was buzzy and fun. Service was good, although there was a mix up with our desserts, which I felt it should have been reflected in the bill. We will definitely return, and recommend the venue to our friends
We had a catch-up with a group of 6 friends at Caravan. The food was yummy, but portion sizes are a bit small - definitely room for dessert! I've been here loads of times, and would definitely recommend!
Excellent lunch, good service and very convenient location.
Super quick and attentive service. Interesting food that was really tasty. We had a number of small plates which were delicious. The beans and lentils were pretty hot and spicy, a minor criticism as quite overpowering Loved the desserts. Looking forward to going again.
Winner winner chicken dinner. Love this place.
Lively, busy atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Good range of dishes available. Would recommend ordering a selection of small plates and treating them like tapas.
