At the start the service was excellent but slowed towards the end, giving the fealing that they had forgotten us but that apart it did not spoil the night. Location is ideal, if a bit isolated, onthe water front, would be great on a summers day.Not an exstensive choice of food but suffcient. Ambience is a bit "cold looking" but saying that it was our second visit.
We went for dinner for my fiancée's birthday. The restaurant was very well decorated and first impressions were good. We were seated straight away and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. The food was excellent, there was plenty of choice and it was all very reasonably priced. In fact, the bill was far lower than we were expecting! Would definitely visit again, I'm sure the views would be lovely over the bay during sunset.
Loved it, lovely view from our table into the waterfront, service was fab, best roast dinner
Food was great, plenty of choice on menu. Great, friendly staff and the surroundings were very modern, lovely fixtures and fittings. Near to cruise terminal, really enjoyable, with good wine choices.
We checked it out prior to our booked evening meal. Finished up having lunch really nice & quality was very good. This was extended on the Tuesday evening (steak night) where the food was once again cooked to perfection & excellent quality. Definitely worth a visit. A bit off the beaten track but check this place out 1 mile from Albert Dock.
So disappointed, the restaraunt was empty, disappointed because it shouldn't be empty.
First, the greeting when we arrived put us at ease right away, my wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, on hearing this a free glass of wine appeared, brilliant, my wife had the soup of the day, I had barbecued chicken wings, both were lovely. For the main we both had the sea bass, well cooked and tasted lovely. We could not eat a sweet after that , we were stuffed. I must congratulate the staff, they were fantastic. One slight niggle, my wife had a brandy , and wanted dry ginger, only had ginger ale, did not taste nice, but we could not let that spoil our night, will go again
We won't be eating at Cargo's again, found it was disappointing the food was very bland, I had fish and chips, it came the fish was over cooked, and looked as though it had been cooked from frozen. There was a handful of chips and a small amount of salad which was coved in an oily minty dressing.
We went for the Sunday roast which was excellent, no scrimping on the meat , the sweets were very good , just like homemade , will definitely go again , maybe Sunday breakfast ?
We had a lovely dinner at Cargo and even got to see the sun setting over the Mersey. Opted not to have a starter and we were not disappointed with our meals. Seafood platter and the lamb chops. Couldn't even manage a desert! Really lovely meal and friendly efficient service. Would recommend.
Excellent Food, extremely friendly and helpful staff combined with outstanding value and a great location make Cargo a Liverpool gastronomic gem

Cargo is a real lovely place with very helpful staff who go out there way to help there customers, will defiantly goin back again :)))
We had taken the Mersey Ferry Snowdrop from Salford Quays into Liverpool Pier Head. We wanted to eat by the river. Cargo was mentioned in a Google search. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a go. So glad we did. It was a Tuesday and it was steak night. We ordered starters and fillet steak to follow which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended and will be going back.
Third trip to Cargo and as always the food was amazing, service polite, friendly and quick and alround a fantastic evening had. Will definitely be going back again!
Everything you want in a restaurant, superb."I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
The Cargo came as a recomendation and was for a Birthday with a party of 5.
The location on the banks of the Mersey with very good views .Out of the City Centre a short walk from the Pier Head. The Comfybus 101 passes it but stops early evening, car parking not a problem
We had a lovely time at Cargo and will go back again when we're in Liverpool next. The food was superb as was the friendly service. The atmosphere was laid back & calming - a much needed change from the hustle & bustle of Albert Dock & all those hens dos!
The restaurant was almost empty but we still had to wait a while to be seated. We got put on a table for 2 against a wall, when there were much nicer tables in the sunlight available. The service was not with a smile. When we asked the waiter if the food was gluten free he just said "I don't know". He eventually asked in the kitchen but the response was a bit vague. A guest on another table had beer spilled on him. We also weren't allowed to use the carpark and had to drive away and use the NCP which was a 5 minute walk away and cost us £8! The food however, was excellent. Starters were great and the steak was really well cooked. I'd love to eat the food again, but probably won't go back.
We dined on a radio city voucher offer which was basically half price. The food was spot on and the service off the 2 staff was 1st class. The menu is quite varied and very resonably priced. We wiould definitely go back - without a voucher!
When we arrived for our Sunday roast the music was already blaring out and it was obvious part of the restaurant had been booked for a party of some kind that commenced about half an hour after we arrived. We know this because the music was turned up to ear splitting volume which ruined our whole experience at Cargo. Our waitress was pleasant and took our order efficiently: prawn cocktail made with the smallest prawns I've seen in a while ( sure they weren't shrimps?) and roast lamb served on a wooden platter with the vegetables in a dish and a jug of gravy. Without serving utensils it was difficult to serve ourselves but we managed and the lamb roast meal was enjoyable.
However, our waitress returned to ask us if everything was okay on too many occasions during the meal and inflicting the loud pop music on the non party goers was unpleasant - we don't understand why the staff couldn't have closed the connecting doors or why the music had to be so loud in such a small space. The restaurant was clean and modern but lacked ambience and warmth.
We were a group of 4 celebrating a birthday. Service was great, very attentive and food arrived quickly and was piping hot. My vegetarian friend was a bit stuck as she had a few choices to make from and normally only has one or two to pick from on a menu, so it took her a little longer than usual! All agreed that the food was cooked well, was extremely tasty and there was certainly plenty of it as well. We were a bit disappointed in the dessert selection as there were only 4 to pick from, but it was explained that all the desserts are fresh each day (no frozen food here!) and therefore it depended on what arrived. We passed on desserts and had coffees and coffee liquers instead, so we were still happy. Was a little disappointed that, even though I had given prior warning of the celebration and the birthday girl was very obvious by what she was wearing, that nothing was offered in way of a balloon on the table for instance (we brought our own just in case). Still, all the staff did wish her happy birthday though and nothing detracted from a great evening. The setting is, although a little out of the way, very nice of an evening with the lights over the Mersey reflecting back. Would definitely recommend if you like large portions of very tasty food.
