Carmine's - Washington DC
The menu was a little confusing but the food was excellent and we really enjoyed everything! We would highly recommend!
A date with my significant other it was wayyy to much food for 2 people but amazing leftovers. Good drinks as well
Seulement des gros plats familiaux.
Great service & delicious food!
Best shrimp fra diavolo I have ever had. Family style dining means every plate feeds 4-6 people so what seems expensive really evens out. I would definitely come here again!
Darryl was great! Thanks for providing great service and yummy food!
We always enjoy Carmine’s wonderful pasta and veal dishes, the best Calamari in the world and the tiramisu. It’s unfortunate that the wine costs more than three times it’s worth, so we also try their inventive cocktails. As much as I like not having all the food come out at once, it seemed we were always looking for our waitress and water or bread or cocktails or the next course. That won’t stop us from going back but I hope they can be a bit more attentive next time.
I made a reservation here before a concert. We parked in the garage right under the restaurant which was very convenient. Food was good and service was quick. We shared one entree and a salad and still had leftovers. Only thing I didn’t like was the table which was uncomfortable and had folding sides on it. Request a booth and you’ll be good.
Carmines is the best Italian food we've ever eat eaten.
Food was amazing and plentiful
The food is so good!! Our waiter was the best!! We were visiting DC and wanted to go for a nice dinner but something that would be kid friendly. Carmine’s didn’t disappoint!!
Prices are to high for that type of food. Garlic cheese bread was served hot, but cold by the time entree came. Meatballs were not seasoned enough.
Excellent meal...timely service with gracious staff! Well done!
We had decent food but the service was far from good. We had to ask to ask for water, enough bread and olive oil for the entire table, waited for a very long time for our requests, waitstaff didn't come around to see how we were doing. Also had a party celebrating a birthday and requested Happy Birthday to be sung but that never happened either - We were there early and it was not busy - Spent several hundred dollars for the party and would have expected better service than this - Would have to think twice before going back.
Food was dry and over cooked, service took forever, no options for individuals- I wanted a salad and no one else did- the only choice was $37!! A total rip off in my book!
Family style was great for the size of our party.
Carmine’s should consider serving individual servings. Huge amounts of foos but for two people just too much!
Portions are unevenly sized. Some are reasonable for a family of 4. Others would be difficult for 6 to finish. Food is mediocre. When we finally receive our food, it was lukewarm. It took 1.5 hrs between when we sat down and our kids finally received the kids meals. There are much better places to eat within a 1 block radius of Carmine's. If you're looking for a chain serving family style Italian, Buca Di Beppo or Maggiano's are much better bets.
This was our first visit to Carmines as we are new residents to the DC area. I chose this place based on foodie and TripAdvisor recommendations. Both sites, definitely got it right! The food portions are ginormous and very tasty! Our waiter, Ronald, was a) very knowledgeable (we had lots of questions as newbies! lol) and b) very patient and friendly. We had the pasta with the ragu sauce (meatballs, sausage and pork). Was very good and plentiful. I also recommend the Carmine's salad - so good! We had a wonderful experience in a brand new place!
Carmine’s is always a good idea! Good food served platter style for the table to share makes for a cozy meal and conversation. Carmine’s also offers a good variety of drink options for both our cocktail and mocktail friends. It is a great place for gathering friends and family.
Very good food
Slow start, had to ask twice for a server, but once he arrived all was good
It took 15 minutes for someone to come to our table. After I spoke to the manager, it got better.
most of this restaurant was good but too much food for a dish ;)
I’m sure you can share only 2dishes for 4
the dishes I ordered were all good but much more expensive than the other Italian restaurants
3 of us went for dinner and it was ok. We shared a Caesar salad and chicken Parmesan and added spaghetti. Food was ok, not great and not cheap at all. Quantity good; quality not so. Service was good.
A superb family restaurant. The portions are sharing size for 3-4 person.
Carmine's only serves family size portions (which are delicious) so for a family or meeting this is perfect assuming you can all agree on one or two things.
The restaurant is not “vintage styled” but really old. The dishes are so big that you don’t get to taste a bit of everything. The aglio- olio was flooded with water. Didn’t seem to have oil anywhere. The bread was really cold and no olive oil on the table.
Wonderful. Huge potions. Perfectly cooked food. Loved it. Would return!!
Great meal and atmosphere. What more can I say. Portions are huge and delicious.
We got the 4 pasta special, awesome. Veggie lasagna was delish, but cold in the middle.
Restaurant had a smell to it- should have walked out, felt unclean. Good overpriced and mediocre at best
Every Restaurant the staff who is interacting with the guest has to create first impression.but the ladies who was standing at the door forced us to sit on a chair that we don’t want and with full of disrespect and lack of professionalism.I don’t know why Big restaurants keep staff members who doesn’t like to represent the place they are working with.they don’t even seems have a manager. But the person who was serving the food for us was very professional long while guy I forget his name Robert or ....the food to be honest I was surprised how people are eating that kind of see food.it was full of trash with no taste at all.it doesn’t worth the price at all.rather than focusing on the size the restaurant has to focuse on the quality of the food.if they are creating this kind of impression on my first day of visiting,I don’t think I will suggest this restaurant to any one.
We had a great time!! Rob was our waiter and did a fantastic job! Great service and food!
We have been to Carmine’s many times & have always had a good experience. This time was not. Our server wasn't attentive at all, we had to ask him more than once to refill our drinks, get my kids menus, etc. Our silverware was dirty, it was extremely noisy & we had to wait forever for our bill.
We recommend Carmine's to anyone going to DC. The food is always fantastic and we love the atmosphere. It is a must-go place for us whenever we're in town.
If youl ove Italian food then go to this restaurant. Everything is delicious and it is served family style Lots of food so go with a crowd. Delicious Red Sangria . Have been to Carmines in NYC, LAS VEGAS,ATLANTIC CITY and now Washington Theyall are consistent and give you the best fresh delicious food ever. Try the Carmines Special Salad. It is so tasty
If you can’t stand a thoroughfare all around your table for the staff and patrons, might want to go somewhere else.
Beyond above complaint, we really enjoyed a nice meal, served family style by quality staff. We enjoyed quite a bit and found that the cost was fair for the experience.
Came right when several parties we're wrapping up so we waited close to 10 minutes for someone to bring us water. When the waiter was able to wrap up the 2 large parties he did a good job explaining the menu and making sure the food came out quickly. Definitely didn't expect the wait but the food was delicious and worth returning
Big family size portions. Food was delicious.
