Carmine's - Washington DC
EL LUGAR MUY BIEN AMBIENTADO, LOS PLATOS RIQUÍSIMOS Y ENORMES (PARA COMPARTIR ENTRE DOS O TRES PERSONAS MINIMO) DE LOS MEJORES LUGARES DE PASTA DE EEUU
All serving sizes are for 4 people, even if you are dining alone. There were 2 of us, and we didn't want twice as much food as we needed, but they refused to serve less. The waiter did not understand that I am hard of hearing. I could not hear him or understand him. He took away our menus before I had ordered anything, and they served what he thought I had ordered, but I didn't. Let's just say I am not going back.
Food and drinks were delicious. Our waitress was awesome as well. Can’t wait to come back!
Great place when you’re looking to share a meal
Best family style restaurant in DC. Great meal and a great value. This was my third time here. I'll be back!
The food is delicious and the portions are incredibly unbelievable.
A fun place! Great food and great service! I highly recommend the experience.
Awesome Italian cuisine!! And I’m from Chicago!👍🏻
Carmine's is one of my favorite places to go, but ONLY with a group. For 2 people, it becomes ridiculous in price. You're unable to get any variety because of the large portions and family styled pricing. But if you have a few people and want a good Italian meal, I highly recommend it.
Great meal, amazing food, awesome service
Good food.. good service. Be ready for large portions ... enough to share.
It was perfect for my wife's birthday dinner and the cake was awesome and they sang happy birthday to her. The night was perfect.
The portions were HUGE and delicious. Our only objection was to all the TVs. No matter where we looked, there was at least one in our line of sight.
We had a terrific server who really took care of us!
Food was delicious and more than plentiful.
New Years eve
Manager was accommodating with resolve! Waiter was below average and short with party lacking the ability to engage. However, we still tipped him 22%. I wouldn’t want him serving me again!
This was our 4th visit to Carmine's but first to DC. Same great food (had our normal Meatballs etc) and wonderful New Year's Eve atmosphere.
Much bigger premises than NYC and a bit less intimate therefore but overall a lovely meal in a loud party atmosphere!!
Didn’t know the portions are what they are and my husband and I don’t eat the same things so being from out of town leftovers wasn’t an option so we had to celebrate our anniversary at the bar with a guy talking to us the entire meal.
My birthday dinner. Everything was great. Our waiter was very helpful and patient. We enjoyed the night out
Great food! Great service! Got us done and on the road in time for a performance at the Kennedy Center
The food was good, but the service was terrible. They brought out the kids food and didn’t bring our food till about 50 minutes later. Then the server argued with me about what i ordered even though the waiter had it right.
One thing to be aware of, it’s family style dining for dinner. So if you’re not a party of at least 3, then I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. There’s literally nothing on the menu for 2 or fewer people. As a traveler we couldn’t even take back leftovers so it was not an ideal choice.
Server was inattentive. Our calamari came out last. Drinks were
incomplete. One bread basket for 8 people when those in tables
for 2 also got one basket. Our to-go wraps took a while. Twice we waved but obviously he intended not to look directly at us, too busy to even signal to acknowledge or that he will be over shortly.
But the food is good as usual.
The food was fabulous!
Meal was good and atmosphere great for a family dinner. Service was a bit slow and disorganized, but otherwise a good meal. Would definitely consider again when a large family group is in town again.
VERY BUSY but HUGE portion sizes. Me and my gf were confused about the pricing but one meal feeds 4
Food was great! Service was terrific!
Food was delicious!! Very nice restaurant that sat us on time and the service was prompt. Definitely a don’t miss spot in DC.
Pasta dishes were great - the carbonara special was the best of the 3 we tried. Calamari appetizer was great, much better than the stuffed mushrooms. We arrived early for our reservation and were able to be seated quickly - thanks! The Titanic dessert was HUGE, a banana split on steroids! Wow! We will be back, and next time we will try to not order so much.
Perfect for family dining following a production at the Shakespeare Theater just steps away!
We went on Christmas night and had booked reservations weeks in advance. We were put at back of restaurant at a temporary table with a tablecloth tossed on top. They were not capable of handling the crowd. We waited 20 min for someone to come to our table. The server was just done dealing with people. The buss boys kept helping get us bread and glasses. Served Prosecco with no glasses. We washed out our wine glasses with our water glasses. They were out of 2 of the entrees we wanted (clams). Veal portion was tiny. Overall the experience pretty much sucked. Spent $400 on 6 of us for dinner. Should have go to a real restaurant at that cost. Shame because I loved the carmines in NYC.
The food was absolutely astounding service was the issue waited a long time for our entrees at one point the entree came and we were still waiting for drinks had to flag down our server several times
Great spot for large groups! My family and I were looking for a spot that could accommodate all 6 of us at a reasonable price at Carmine's was the perfect choice. We came in for Christmas Day dinner and the place was packed! A little loud but that's to be expected with a full restaurant. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious, our server even spoke Spanish which was a great surprise for my grandparents who speak English but in loud settings it's easier to understand their own language. Will definitely be returning with more family soon!
Been to Carmine’s (in NY) a few times and was hoping for a similar experience. Maybe I expected too much for a holiday. Food took over 50 minutes to come out; two dishes, spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken in lemon sauce with fettuccine. Food was tasty. But seemed even the waiting staff too was overwhelmed...simple drink refills took 10-15 minutes. Just not a great experience overall.
Great food, huge restaurant- serves 750.
Every thing was nice, but the plates were extremely big so we had to double up some food, and wrap it quickly. There was enough left for great leftovers the next day. Although it was xmas all the staff was happy and energetic. We will definitely return.
Had lunch with the Family on Christmas Day. Enjoyed the Chicken Parmesan with Angel Hair, Italian Cheesesteak was amazing, Ceasar salad was perfect, strawberry shortcake was not bad. Service was on point. Our server Mack was very attentive & took care of all our needs. Overall great experience when we come to Carmine’s. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great for Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve family celebration.
