Our menu embraces Buenos Aires cuisine, a melting pot of comfort food inspired by Italy and Spain alongside the jewel in Argentina's crown, it's beef. Mouthwatering steaks, burgers and steak sandwiches are joined by a tempting selection of more-ish favorites, each with a distinctive Buenos Aires twist. Drop in for some sharing plates and a beer over lunch or savour one of our speciality cuts and a bottle of Malbec over dinner...just don't forget to leave room for a corn flake ice cream sundae.
IT WAS CLOSED DOWN AND NOBODY CARED TO INFORM ME ONLY FOUND OUT ON ARRIVAL!
2nd time to CAU and loved it yet again! Greeted by name (took me by surprise but in a great way) and welcomed in. Sat in a booth which is a great setting. Had prompt and attentive service all evening and food was excellent! The caugirls and cauboys delivered a high quality service from beginning to end. Looking forward to another visit!
Lovely welcome on arrival an there had been a miscommunication between the time of booking an us attending for our meal, we were catered to brilliant an were able to have what was booked originally. The food was lovely an look forward to returning.
Apart from the tough steak and getting charged for a bottle of water we didn’t want it was bang average, drinks are excessively priced and way too hot in there
Delicious! The tacos starter in particular was outstanding. I would definitely recommend.
Fantastic service from start to finish, the waiting staff really couldn't do enough to make our first experience here fantastic! Will certainly be back, food was perfect, cocktails were outstanding!!
Went here for a Birthday Meal - cocktail, starter, main and dessert were lovely - will definitely return
Had an excellent time for my partners birthday. Food, service and ambience was excellent. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be going back
Really enjoyed our evening meal. Will go again when next in Birmingham.
Overall a great experience however ribeye steak was considered tough and not really enjoyable but sirloins were excellent. All other courses were really tasty and offered a wide choice. Service was very good and atmosphere enabled us to celebrate the end of our daughters examinations.
Booked as my partner is new to gluten free food and the staff were brilliant, food was outstanding and will defiantly be going back for part 2
Overall the experience was okay, It’s a nice place to eat with a very nice atmosphere. a little overpriced and there was limited options on the menu. You can tell that the restaurant hasn’t been open awhile as the service was a little bit amateur. I would recommend for a quick lunch during the day as the food itself was great, Not so much for drinks as the drinks menu was limited. I also do not agree with automatically putting a 10% tip on the bill,It is solely down to the customer if they choose to do this , and while you can ask for this to be removed the conversation to have is awkward , so it’ll be good if they could remove that.
Food was good as we wanted a seafood option. We were initially told that there was no bream. But asking chef always helps to find out what reserves are available. Large wine over priced but overall a good meal
Food, staff, wine list, location and decor all truly excellent. Really great place for family (grown ups) or friends to get together and/or a special occasion. Only slight negative is it got a bit noisy but that was at peak time on a busy weekend night, and not all night! It’s a vibrant place, not quiet and cosy romance. The staff were really friendly and attentive, knowledgable and efficient. Food was cooked to perfection and really good quality.
Amazing steak!! Service was excellent. Will be back.
Very good steak restaurant. Efficient and friendly staff.
Second time there and it’s better all the time.
Super friendly staff, top quality meat and great value for money
Booked for our wedding anniversary, really pleased we went, we were thoroughly looked after. Given a great table, complimentary fizz cocktail & excellent service. Food was delicious especially the pork belly in tempura batter! Both steaks cooked to perfection.
Would definitely recommend eating here.
First time there, had seen some average reviews but personally thought it was a great restaurant, great ambience and great steak!
Will definitely go back. Enjoyed the whole experience.
Went on a Saturday afternoon with 4 friends for birthday lunch,
Had reserved a table outside for 2.45pm. Which was all ready on our arrival.
Waiter was superb & very attentive, explained all the menu to each guest to advise how to have there food. *
Was also bought complimentary champagne 🥂 when waiter's asked who's birthday it was + also cocktail after meal.
EVERYONE SHOULD TRY CAU ONCE...!!! AT LEAST. GO ON BOOK 😂
Great meal pre concert at Symphony hall. Excellent service and a great ambience
Amazing meat very reasonable prices and outstanding service from the cow girls! both waitress were so kind, sweet and beautiful !
The food was very nice and it was a nice atmosphere. Drinks took a while to arrive but apart from that, it was a nice evening.
Went to CAU Birmingham on the saturday to meet a friend for lunch. While a little pricey (to be fair, the venue is located withij brindley place) the food was brilliant. Very much enjoyed my starter and main. Would return for another friends catch up.
Even given the young and rather casual vibe of this restaurant, the service provided was just about acceptable but not commensurate with the overall meal cost. Given the rather casual service and this restaurant’s slightly hipster/warehouse style, the food was actually better than anticipated.
We ate as a very established but happy couple and our ratings out of 10 are:
Service = 6. Initially slow to take our drinks order and then poor continuity of service staff. For example, our waitress disappeared after our main course (not to be seen again), we then didn’t know who to approach as some staff were able to serve us but some staff declared they were only cleaning the surrounding tables. Finally, we ordered a coffee with desert but 20 minutes later, after we had eaten desert, the coffee still hadn’t arrived. Releasing the coffee had been forgotten, we asked for the bill but the coffee was still charged for. This was later rectified and the restaurant’s service charge of 10% was waived.
Food = 9. Nice starters and sides, proper tasty rib eye steaks and a nice bottle of Malbec.
Value = 7. Given the mediocre service and at very nearly £100 for 2 starters, 2 of the small rib eyes, 2 sides, 1 desert and 1 bottle of mid-priced red wine, I’d have marked the value lower but for the good quality of tasty food that we enjoyed.
Overall = 8. I’ve somewhat forgiven the very average service and value and weighted this overall rating towards food quality, therefore this restaurant deserves a solid score of 8 (4 stars in the context of an OpenTable or TripAdvisor review).
Excellent service and food. Good value as the steak was amazing.
Excellent value for money and amazing food. Lovely setting in Brindley Place and the décor and ambience was very welcoming and vibrant; good music but not too loud so you couldn't have a great conversation.
Onto the food; amazing. We chose the Empanas for starters, lovely small beef pasties that were wonderful and a lovely size portion - not too filling. Now the mains were something else; my husband and I both had steaks cooked to perfection and marinated in the Chimchura sauce. Gorgeous taste and the hand cut chips were to die for; fluffy and wonderful. The pepper sauce and homemade onion rings complimented the meal fantastically. No room for dessert.
A special mention for the refreshing Royal Wedding Cocktails, scrumptious and wonderful service from a welcoming and pleasant member of staff.
Definitely will book again
Had a fantastic time at Cau, so much so I went two evenings in a row with different friends. The food is simply delightful, the staff friendly and attentive, the atmosphere lovely without being overbearing and the location ideal for ease of getting to, whether by car, train or tram in central Birmingham.
Would highly recommend.
If you are a steak lover you shoud try this the restaurant. The food and service was amazing, we dine here on a Friday night for my friend birthday. The only down side was the booking situation as they told us to be there 9 oclock and if anyone come later than 9 our table will be canceled , we arrived at 9 but had wait for 45 minuts for our table to be ready.
Great place for a steak and really hard to pick a dessert as they all looked so good.
I so wanted to give 5 stars as The food was excellent but as my husband is dairy free we struggled to find any starter or dessert he could eat. How hard is it to put a sorbet on the dessert menu and a plain starter minus cheese or mayo.
We ate plain steak and chips cooked to order and belly pork. Both dishes were well presented.
Excellent, well cooked steaks, great accompaniments. Excellent service. Good value house wine.
A lovely evening out. Could not fault it.
Excellent food, good service. Look forward to my next visit & very happy to recommend this restaurant.
The sunday lunch was delicious, £15 well spent - we all had the beef which did melt in your mouth!
Sunday lunch menu was fantastic. Great food, melt in the mouth beef, attentive and relaxed, friendly service. Will return.
Very tasty steaks, cooked as requested, friendly staff, stylish decor.
Tasty food, funny friendly waiter that got my sense of humour, close to the arena for our gig,. I had fun with my friends there thankyou!
Very nice food and service from waiter was brilliant and with a smile and banter 👍🏽
The best steak ever, melt in your mouth, worth the money
