Our menu embraces Buenos Aires cuisine, a melting pot of comfort food inspired by Italy and Spain alongside the jewel in Argentina's crown, it's beef. Mouthwatering steaks, burgers and steak sandwiches are joined by a tempting selection of more-ish favorites, each with a distinctive Buenos Aires twist. Drop in for some sharing plates and a beer over lunch or savour one of our speciality cuts and a bottle of Malbec over dinner...just don't forget to leave room for a corn flake ice cream sundae.
Trust us on that one.
Fabulous food and cocktails in a vibrant and interesting place. Incredible steaks and burgers. The Pineapple and Sage Margarita is also highly recommended.
We had a nice waiter who was replaced with a waiter who seemed really fed up with his job.
Alsp cutlery was covered in black dust or something. Other than that i would definately come back as food was great
Staff were no where to be seen for about 90% of the visit, but the food was great.
Love Cau and the food service was not as good as it could be, but not a problem really.
Food was ok, not blown away though steak was excellentally cooked, however meat quality was suspect considering the cost. Service was poor really and server was pushy on paying service charge despite ignorning simple sauce requests and getting our meals mixed up.
My visit to cau was fantastic the food delightful service superb and would definitely recommend and visit again
Food was lovely. With minimal waiting time. However waiter was quite rude and the locals were a bit disturbing during our meal.
Recommended as good food and very friendly staff. The food was good and the attention to detail when we mentioned egg allergy was outstanding.
Altogether a very pleasant meal, night and will visit again.
Came for a date night with other half (we don't get out much have two babies) anyway food was so fast we had eaten our whole meal in under an hour (3 course) felt very rushed. Starter of prawns were slightly tasteless however main and dessert were lovely however so fast you barley had time to talk. Prob wouldn't go back inless I was had a time limit
Went as a group of 4 and we all found the ambience a bit flat. The service was fair though we did need to request their attention a couple of times. We all had steak and though it was well cooked the meat wasn't inspiring - we all felt we'd had better elsewhere. Value for money felt poor especially for the shared starters.
Was pleasantly surprised on how lovely the food was :) very nice, definitely will be recommending
I have been here on quite a few occasions and the food is always delicious and cooked well and the service is great. I usually go for a steak and sides. Having seen the roast dinners being served on my previous visits I decided to try the beef roast on this occasion. Both my mother and I were disappointed with what was served, I am certain that the Sunday roast menu must have changed recently. Firstly, I would like to say that the beef was cooked perfectly and was really tasty, there just wasn't much of it. The roast potatoes were also delicious. What I could not understand is that no greens come with the meal, the only veg was a huge carrot cut in half. I understand that we are expected to order side dishes if we want any vegetables on our roast... given the price of the meal and the small portion you receive I do not think this is at all value for money. I will not be back for a roast dinner again.
We went for our wedding anniversary, having tried most steak restaurants in Bristol we were excited to try Cau. Took a while to sort a table even though we had booked, there was an event on at the university so it was pretty busy. However we were served reasonably quickly and got our starters, £5 for 3 tiny croquettes was steep although they were delicious. However after our starters were cleared away we then waited 40 minutes with no sign of our main course. After chasing this it transpired something had gone wrong and were given a free drink and told us it would be 10 minutes, the good eventually arrived 20 minutes later. The food was beautiful and we did end up with a substantial discount but this obviously put a dampner on a special occasion.
Had a nice meal good food and service however the waiter gave us the wrong bill and by chance I checked it before leaving.
I called the waiter over and explained the situation he apologised and said he would need to speak to the manager.
When he came back the difference in the bills was just under £5, he then proceeded to get £5 out of his pocket to give me.
I asked him if he had to pay me out of his own wages which he confirmed, I told him i didn't want it and not to worry about it.
The waiter made a genuine mistake and apologised, I make mistakes in my job and so do most people.
I will not be visiting this restaurant again as I feel the whole evening was spoilt and made me feel uncomfortable.
The restaurant should have put the money back on my card, this is the first time I have ever come across a situation like this although I imagine it is a common practice in this industry.
Really enjoyed the experience to celebrate my Birthday. Food good bit steep on price but ran out of coleslaw for a side dish.
Would book again but for special occasions
Always a warm welcome and great food.
Nice place and food was ok. But the place is overpriced. Would not go again, but that is only because of the price. Had the same quality of food at a cheaper price.
I always leave happy every time I visit CAU. I’ve brought friends and family before. The last time I visited was for my dad’s birthday, nice environment, tasty food (only the chorizo empanadas are a bit salty). Staff was friendly and kept the ice cream cake that we brought in the freezer for us. Only disappointment, no more fish tacos which were amazing. The set menu it’s a very good deal, if you want to try CAU you should go for it.
The service and our waiter was really good very friendly and gave us really good service.
We are regular customers to CAU and were disappointed when we ordered a starter of the chicken tacos but without any salad to pay £6.50 for one tiny bit of chicken in each taco.
The portion sizes of this was ridiculous.
Found my steak over priced & greasy. It came with sweet potato fries & I ordered a salad. The whole meal was just way too rich. Perhaps I didn’t order correctly. £31+ for a steak is over priced.
The service from the moment we entered was first class. We had a shared starter and then a main and we all agreed that the steaks were excellent!
Marvellous food, quick service, helpful staff. Only blot was the customer sat behind us who was being rather rude to the waiters “Oi boss, more mayo. What’s that green stuff? Take it back and get rid of it, yeah boss?”
The meal me and my partner had were absolutely amazing! Apart from a rowdy party who kept on shouting and smacking the table this place is well worth a visit!
Had a great dinner with my son. Loved being able to see the chefs at work. Great service from a great team.
We had a lovely waiter who talked us through the menu and the food was amazing will go a million times over
Always a favourite of mine as you know that you are going to get a good steak coupled with the choice of skinny or chunky chips - so everyone is happy. The starters are spot on as is the drinks selection. It was nice going slightly earlier 4:30 pm on a Sunday as the restaurant hadn't filled up so you feel you have the venue to yourself. Nice being in the booths as it allows the conversation to flow. Just remember there is an NCP on the Triangle if you are driving. I would recommend Cau.
Amazing fresh tasting food with really comfortable seats and beautifully decorated.
The decor is very eighties / American psycho . The maitre de was overworked and forgot us and had to find us a table ( even though we booked ) . The table was dirty and he forgot to return with the drinks we ordered . However .... when we got our waiter for the evening he was a fantastic guy from Hungary who was attentive and spent a long time trying to find a wine for us . He was energetic and really helpful and we were all impressed with him . The food was good , but the steak was very fatty . On the whole we had a good night , but we wouldn’t return in a hurry .
Very good service, the waiters kept all of our drinks topped up everytime they walked past.
they answered all questions about the menus and the food came out quick.
Pork Belly was lovely and tender.
its also nice on a summers evening with the glass doors open
The quality of the meat was very good but the ambiance is awful it could be made so nice, but plastic seats for a high price restaurant is a bit much
We had a comfortable private booth, the food was excellent , the service was good , the young lady did well considering she seemed to be the only waitress on , the decor was great , the meal was good value , overall we had a very good night , and would eat here again , we would recommend this restaurant to friends and family . 9 out of 10
Paid £20 for a steak that come out looking anaemic, cooked with no seasoning what so ever, this was the same with the girlfriends steak. Worst steak I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Service was very bad with only 1 out of the 4 people who served us being nice and not rude. Overall food was pretty bad service was almost like they wanted you in and out as quick as possible, wouldn’t eat here again
Amazing steaks, great service and good cocktails/wine.
We had a 50% off voucher, which is why we went and ended up trying some of CAU’s specialities. The meat was amazing.
Had to wait nearly half an hour for our table. My partners drink was made and mine forgotten about so I had to ask again. The bar was really busy and clearly not enough staff on. We sat our table and the floor was actually dangerous for heels. At our table we had a lovely waitress but she forgot our drinks and again we had to ask. The steak was nice, not worth the money and cooked more well done than medium. It was our anniversary and we were really disappointed after hearing such great things about Cau. A positive is the cocktails are lovely once they finally arrived but aside from that abit disappointed overall. Not worth the money. The steak comes with one side which is really poor considering the price. Wasn’t an incredible taste considering it’s a steak house.
As always great steak and a buzzy atmosphere. However the service was slow and erratic, with things being forgotten or missed. It took so long, the momentum went a bit and it left the evening feeling very long. I wouldn't recommend Cau for large groups on a Saturday night, though previous experiences with just 2 people have been good.
Everything was good except for the fact drinks to a while to come ( i put that down to the restuarant being full ) i would defo come again again
Friendly staff, great food and interesting layout which all made for an enjoyable evening.
Lovely food and nice table. Service was poor. Left waiting for some time. Not friendly at all
Service very slow, no food for an hour. When food came one was cold and one steak was v rare/raw rather than medium rare. Staff very good, replaced both main courses and waived the charge. Also gave us lovely churros with a candle for desert. A mixed experience, rescued by the staff but did marr the birthday celebration. Would try again probably for lunch when not too busy.
Waiter was miserable, steak wasn’t cooked to how we requested. Very expensive as you have to order any sides separately.
