Cellar 49 at Tarrytown House Estate
The restaurant was lovely. The food was very good especially the shrimp and pasta dish. The seafood soup was just so so, however, and the service could have been more attentive. (We were never asked if wanted more drinks.) Overall, we enjoyed and will go back - especially in the winter, because of its dark ‘cellar’ coziness.
The cellar was very attractive with brick walls and old fashioned tin-ceiling-- just what one would expect. We had salmon which was quite good.
Had a very enjoyable evening. The chocolate dessert was wonderful!
I believe a large part of the reason why we love this place is that we usually eat there on off hours. The restaurant is empty and we get the full attention of Staff. The food has always been extraordinary. Highly recommend this place......off hours. I suspect that when it's busy, it's probably not a great place to eat.
Food was excellent and the service was even better. Restaurant located on beautiful ground and is a terrific place for a special dinner.
very happy with experience, not only was the food good, but the people were so friendly.
Good food great service and ambiance.
Delicious food and excellent service. Best Cesar salad I’ve ever had. Also loved the specialty drinks.
Food was sub par - overpriced. Waited over 20min for a waiter to come back regarding ordering dessert. Finally just signaled for the check. Eh not a place I’d go back to.
Thank you for adjusting our reservation since we were stuck in traffic coming from NJ. Service was terrific. We enjoyed our drinks and dinner.
Our server was wonderful. The food was great! We got so much for food for the $36 pre fixe menu!
Warm and Cozy atmosphere with quiet Vibe!
Restaurant week lunch, not a good representation. They ran out of the particular sauce for a pasta dish so it was substituted. Service was decent, not spectacular. Ambiance/decor was dated, but suitable for its location in the Biddle House. Dessert was a bit dry, not fresh. I ordered a the cheesesteak sandwich Which had no meat, a few peppers, with mushy French fries. Best thing about the meals was the salads. 4 guests, no one enjoyed it. One & Done here.
Enjoyed the food, service and ambiance..
The waiter was rude. The food a huge disappointment. Our Bronzino was dry and completely over cooked and very very salty. We were rushed out of there when we asked for a second cup of coffee we were told you can have it in the lounge (bar). We will never return. Now we know why the place was empty.
We loved it all! The food was amazing! We came here for restaurant week Wed March 20th before we went to see Shen Yun. The host and the waiters were awesome and kind and attentive and engaging. NY Strip sour dough Crostini was flavorful w/caramelized onions (2 of us had this) and my other friend enjoyed the salad it was big. I can not stop thinking about the lamb tenderloin that I had w/asparagus and it had some heat which I love and they cooked it perfectly for both of us and the other friend totally enjoyed his hangar steak I believe it was. For dessert I had the most divine chocolate flourless cake that was rich and delicious. And the other two enjoyed the apple tart w/vanilla ice cream. Cappuccino, wine suggestion given and enjoyed and lager also enjoyed. My friends who I met there were married there at the Tarrytown house in 2001 and this was the 1st time back and it brought back beautiful fun memories. Host was Very accommodating when asked and received. Smiles galore and just an overall wonderful experience. The view is gorgeous of the Hudson and our Host said they are doing lots of renovations and u can even stay there too and have food while u stay in the upstairs part, the tavern is downstairs. The noise level was good as we could hear ourselves and each other w/out yelling or getting closer to each other. I am telling U I am going back soon - going back over the bridge for another yummy meal.
The food was fantastic, the service was excellent! Only critique would be the darkness of the space, but it is called Cellar 49 after all. And going during restaurant week made it affordable.
Restaurant is dark and rather plain. The service was good however I ordered a hamburger medium rare and it was well done. Overall I was disappointed with my food choices. My starter a chicken bar-b-que on flat bread was salty, my Bloody Mary was bland and my burger which I ordered medium rare arrived well done. I did enjoy the apple tart dessert. Not sure if I will try this restaurant again.
Beautiful grounds. Server forgot to mention coat rack so i helped myself. Food was really good. Had Burger and fries... Fries were a not mediocre for setting.. Felt like frozen fries. Salad was super.. Also, noticed we were the only couple not being chatted by waiter.
One thing was not fair. You were on the list for restaurant week; when I asked for that menu the waiter stated (who was excellent) that they don't honor that on the weekend. That should have been noted previously.
I usually avoid restaurants in Hotels, because it always felt weird to go there just to eat at the restaurant within but I should probably stop because that's how I missed out on this seriously amazing food! Cellar 49 has its own entrance, the ambience is warm and relaxed, with a dimly lit dining room and a fire place but not stuffy or over the top formal. The staff were super professional and nice. The food was absolutely delicious. NO doubt I'd definitely come here outside of Restaurant Week because the prices are not overblown either --this is a millenial talking . MY table of four had the Burger which was one of the best I've tasted --and I make it a mission to try as many places as possible taking advantage of Restaurant week. WE had the Flatbread with BBQ chicken, the Burrata, the open faced philly cheese steak sandwich --which was probably the star of the day not greasy or fake or lacking peppers or filled with weird cheese. I am telling you, you will not regret coming here and you will immediately pull out your calendar and figure out which day of next week you can spare to come back to Cellar 49.
I visited Cellar 49 with a friend during restaurant week. The menu choices were from the main menu. The spinach salad was tasty, as the vinaigrette dressing was outstanding. My hanger steak was cooked to perfection and was tender. I ordered an apple tart for dessert, but could not have dairy, so it was sans ice cream and whipped cream. It wasn't warm enough for my liking. I wish establishments could recognize there is a need for dairy free and gluten free options for dessert, and not only main courses.
We'll definitely be back again, and I will probably just skip dessert-which really isn't a bad thing.
we really enjoyed our dinner at cellar 49; food was very tasteful ; service by paul and assistant was very good.
We were married at this property 24 years ago. We were in town for a concert so we thought it would be nice to go back for a visit. The concept is good, they converted the original bowling alley into a pub in the basement of the mansion where our wedding was held. It’s casual and sweet with a fireplace. The menu is diverse but the prices are a bit overboard. Dessert, an apple tart, was just so so. If we went back, I think we’d stick with a burger or salad.
Our server Paul was great. He made good suggestions and knew the dishes well. We ordered the Cowboy Steak medium rare and it came out perfectly cooked, except it had way too much salt. Too much salt for me is a LOT of salt! Everything else was nice. We were happy to be able to walk just a short distance from our room. The buildings and grounds are beautiful.
Great food and service and this spot! It was a little noisy for a special date night, but we still enjoyed the experience.
Phenomenal job. Hadn't been here in close to two years, everything is just as good; if not better.
Grabbed a drink from the bar before being seated, excellent cocktails without being too pretentious. Great whisky selection.
Seated by the fireplace, intimate and cozy. Thai chili wings are out of this world. Porkchop was massive, tender, and the chutney over the top complimented it perfectly. Burger was just as good, thick cuts of bacon over the top with a heavy portion of crispy salted fries. We were too full to even try dessert.
General Manager John, Chef Marquise, and the whole service & bar team are doing a great job. Looking forward to going back.
the ambiance was lovely! The service was great .They were not on top of us and cleared the plated when appropriate. The food was seasoned to perfection.
Very glad a friend suggested this restaurant...it was a great find. The sun was setting as we entered and we had a beautiful first impression. Very cozy downstairs seating, right in front of the fireplace on a cold winter night. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, giving us history of the estate. All of us in our party of 4 loved our appetizers, my husband proclaimed the French onion soup the best he ever had. We will definitely be returning, hopefully when the hotel renovations are complete, and do an overnight stay combination.
We were staying at Tarrytown House Estate and went to Cellar 49 for dinner. Food was delicious. Waiter was excellent, great atmosphere. Great bar area and game room, although could definately use a new pool table, but fun to play some pool and shuffle board after dinner.
We stayed at the Tarrytown Resort and had our Thanksgiving dinner here.
The service was impeccable, the setting very comfortable and cozy.
The food was delicious, not rushed and cooked to perfection.
We have eaten here before and were so glad we could eat here again.
Wnnderful Thanksgiving dinner, with delicious turkey, stuffing, and all the trimmings.
We were able to sit near the wine cellar and we enjoyed the candles.
Such a cozy place that is perfect for family, accessible for all.
Although the menu itself is somewhat limited, the choices should be enough to satisfy everyone. The service, food and ambiance are all excellent. But beware...the portions are huge! That does make for easy sharing.
Also, very difficult to access--nothing about the place is ADA compliant if that is a concern.
I ordered a cuban sandwich, which I did not enjoy for something bitter in it. I also found the pricing on the high side.
Never a bad meal here! We came for restaurant week and the choices were amazing! The food is always delicious and the service is top notch! We look forward to coming back.
An exquisite treasure. The ambience and service are unmatched. Bravo!
We enjoyed our meal very much. There was a party of six celebrating a birthday and they were quite loud. After they left the noice level was low. The dessert, an apple tart, was disappointing as the pastry was gummy and hard. We just picked the apples off the top. The beef short ribs were amazing and the pasta dish delicious.
Our meals were wonderful - crab cake starter and fish and carne tacos for main meals. Outstanding flavors and combinations of taste that were unexpectedly delightful and delicious. The Canyon Oaks Merlot was really special and will be on my personal list from now on. Thank you for a really outstanding meal. We'll stop by when next we are in the Hudson Valley area.
Located in a lovely historical building, it is truly a nice location for dinner. The cellar is very cozy and clean. I loved reading all the history behind the old photos on the walls. We went just as they opened so it was empty. Service was very casual and friendly. Food came out fast and drinks were made nice and strong. Good for a special occasion.
