Delicious food, excellent service , enjoyed the whole experience
Second time I've been here. Pales in comparison to the first visit. Our main was served and then after a 10 min wait our naan came. Service was average. Portions of meat in the dishes was minimal. Also the paneer was very bland only the sauce that it came with saved it. Overall very dissatisfied compared to my first visit
Lunch set menu was alright value for Canary Wharf standards. I think it was about 18 pounds for two courses and 22 pounds for three courses.
Service needs to be improved though, on of my guests indicated that the wrong food had been placed on our table and the waiter saw him signal this and just walked away. Quite rude in my view and would probably put me off from rushing back any time soon.
The food was excellent and I’d definitely go back again except that the service was poor. When we were seated the restaurant was not busy yet we had to get the attention of a waiter to take our order. For a lunch with a fixed menu, the food took a while to be served.
The food and experience was great. it was my husbands birthday and i had mentioned this while booking the table and they surprised by coming with candle and desert and singing birthday song for him. That was really thoughtful. The only thing they can improve on is portions. They are a bit small.
Booked for my sisters birthday. Told 2 waiters beforehand that it was my sisters birthday and would like her dessert to come with a candle so we can all sing happy birthday and make it special but that didn’t happen. The desserts came out with no candle. After I reminded the waiter he seemed confused. We finished our dessert ready to leave the waiter then brings out one dessert with a candle and presents it to our table. Abit awkward and embarrassing as everyone had had their desserts already the surprise was ruined as we already told the birthday girl of the mistake. To make it even more awkward they brought the candle out on the wrong dessert so she couldn’t enjoy it anyway. Wasn’t the best night.
From one of the guest "Great company and excellent food....I will recommend to my friends. Just wanders out and found the gold venue."
Chai Ki is a lovely and welcoming place to eat at whatever the occasion. I went there for a birthday celebration with friends. Staff too are amazing. Was surprised to see staff come out with cake and singing happy birthday. All in all would recommend to everyone and would definitely be coming back in the future.
Great service in this very cool restaurant. The butter chicken and the spicy paneer were awesome.
Great food, 2 menus. One quick Tapas and the other a proper sit down set menu meal. However you feel im sure they will sort you out.
Got off to a bad start - had my 1 year old asleep in her pram and was told to either wake her or come back later as they wouldn’t allow the pram inside. A couple of the people at the front desk were quite rude but one guy then said he would make sure they could accommodate us if we came back when she woke up. So we came back 45mins later when she was awake.
Once we were there, it was faultless - Lou, our waiter, was brilliant. Food was exceptional and the drinks are delicious! If the food wasn’t so good I would have just gone somewhere else but we knew it would be worth it and it was!
The food/place is very good but the young blonde lady at the reception is very very rude. That’s really bad cause all the rest of the guys was delicious and also the place.
I've been here a few times now and each time gets better and better.
This place was recommended to us by someone who comes here quite often. We checked the menu online first and it looked incredible.
I would say though that the bar menu I had a lot more choice than the restaurant menu so check this before you go.
Service was slow at times, we waiting around 10 mins before someone came to offer us a drink.
Food tasty, creative dishes, contemporary Indian classics with a twist. Cocktails were also good.
The menu says 'Indian sharing plates' but that's a fib really. The waiters were surprised that we didn't order 'starter and a main' style, but the menu states sharing plates so why would we do that? If we had been briefed when we sat down, perhaps we would have ordered differently. Not much choice for vegetarians, especially if you're not keen on paneer.
The portions came to the table really quickly but they were tiny and flavourless. Also, very expensive given the lack of flavour and very small portions. I'm disappointed as we've eaten in the Toddy Shop before and it was really delicious. Toddy Shop is slightly cheaper but so much more imaginative. The menu for the restaurant side is just confused and not well thought out, I'm afraid. This was a birthday meal but we left hungry and a bit sad.
I think it is pricey but there are some dishes I like and I always stick to them. Not been experimental with their menu. It tends to get really noisy and I don't enjoy that . Overall, I would rate it 3/5 as it means average to me.
I had a lovely time and I am planning my next visit.
The food is very average. Its hillarious quantity for the price they charge! The drink was horrible and when we told the waiter he just said, oh is it and went off. He kept coming back and rushing us to order mains togethet with starters and drinks! Very weired and annoying experience. Shame as its just next to my office, but wont want to go there ever again!
Lovely food. Staff very accommodating. Great ambient.
I would definitely come back to this place I have been here a few times now
Restaurant is modern
Food nice however portions are small for the price. More sauce than meat.
Service was ok, lack of personal touch, no conversation, just very reactive. Staff seemed stretched to the number of customers they had.
Cold, tasteless food, dirty plates and non existent service.
Lovely restaurant, food was quite nice. Waiters were helpful.
This is a favourite spot for me around the area. The food is great, the service is really good, and the ambience is really nice. This was the first time I have been for dinner, usually we go for lunch, and the menu was good but I would have liked some starter/sharing plate options similar to the lunch menu.
Very good food but the offering at the bar side is better than the one on a restaurant side. Next time will definite go for the bar menu!
Great meal as usual!
we booked for 8 but it turned out to be 10/11 people at the last minute. However, staff were very accommodating and chose our menu for us which turned out to be great!
Lovely staff but we really didn't like food. Tiny portions of mediocre food.
We had a lovely evening celebrating my dad’s birthday. Great service & the food was delicious. I’d recommend for dinner or breakfast. The menu is authentic.
Chai Ki is “new” Indian, with a different selection from the “usual” Indian restaurant. The selection is quite good and promotes sharing so you get to try more things, something I always enjoy. The wine list is limited, but has some tasty options.
It was a brilliant ambiance and vibe about the place. We had really come for the Butter Chicken which was highly recommended as one of the best in London, and it didn’t fall short of that title. The service was lovely and as a family we really enjoyed the night. I will definetly be coming back for more.
I booked a table for two for a birthday dinner. Definitely recommend booking to avoid begging for a table as we witnessed on our arrival. It's by far the most authentic Indian food we've ever had, so much so that we haven't stopped talking about it! I ordered the lamb shoulder, the meat literally fell off the bone and the curry itself was beautiful. My friend ordered the butter chicken, just as tasty! Order some garlic naan, its good! The service was fantastic, all the staff were really attentive and the ambiebce is great. A beautiful restaurant with stunningly flavourful food, ideal for any occasion. You won't be disappointed.
The menu is very basic. Nothing on the menu that excited me
Expensive for portion size. Wine vey expensive. We ate in the dining area. Food was very good shame about the price. Not everyone in Canary Wharf is loaded.
I searched the Canary Wharf area for an Indian restaurant, as Indian is one of my girlfriends favourite cuisines, I’m not much of a fan, and my knowledge in Indian cuisines is bare minimum, however the meal I had was far from an Indian dish. We ordered lamb from the menu, this was served to us within 10 minutes. We all know it doesn’t take 10 minutes to cook lamb. Not only was it served to us quickly, the food was cold!! which as we believed it must of been left out for a while, we complained about the food being cold and instead of bringing us a fresh dish, they simply put it in the microwave. I mean I would of been better off buying a ready meal from Sainsbury’s and putting that in the microwave myself!. Aside from the meal being dreadful, the service was extremly poor, the waiter who served us just slammed everything on the table and didn’t apologise for this, there was a waiter who seemed to be the senior, he kept yelling at his waiters completely disregarding customers presence. Overall the experience was horrible and I wouldn’t go back even if it were for free.
Ps it isn’t a casual elegant restaurant, if you came in gym wear you would have no issue blending in.
Fantastic Food and Good Service. Good for entertaining guests
Great food, nice family atmosphere and very attentive service.
We love Indian food at chai ki , service is also very good and staff is friendly
It should be made clear to customers that customers who sit in the restaurant have a set meal rather than those at the front of the restaurant. Limited options for vegans.
Good vegetarian food. Especially loved the curry leaf aloo!
Good food and service - great alternative to a typical Indian restaurant. Don’t expect standard poppadoms, korma and vindaloo - it’s much better than that.....
