Chai Ki (Restaurant)
In the evening (from 5pm) the A La Carte menu in the Restaurant offers a more refined, experimental cuisine featuring traditional flavours and ingredients, alongside a carefully selected wine & drinks list.
HIGHCHAIRS, PRAMS & BUGGIES
We have designated tables for high chairs in our Toddy Shop Bar only, subject to availability. Lunchtimes are busy so we recommend contacting us in advance so we can note your requirements. Due to limited space we kindly request that all prams, buggies, scooters or similar are left at reception for safe keeping.
Excellent food, as always. But service was a bit slow this time
I was really looking forward to coming here as I’ve been to the sister restaurant Roti Chai twice and thought the food was nice. The ambience and decor was lovely but the food was disappointing. The curry we ordered (butter chicken), went cold too quickly.
I was expecting the starter to come first but it all came very quickly (which is fine), but then the meal finished a little quicker than expected and then we were left waiting for the bill. I appreciate it’s a busy place but the sauce getting cold so quickly was very disappointing. The waiter didn’t ask how the food was so I didn’t mention it as didn’t feel comfortable to complain in such a nice place.
Great location, food and atmosphere. Also very reasonable priced for the wharf - highly recommend!
My favourite restaurant, so lovely every time. Lovely food and cosy atmosphere The restaurant is perfect for special occasions and the toddy bar for a less expensive everyday meal. I'm a vegetarian and the dishes I have are always delicious. Would definitely recommend!
Great food. Will definitely go again. Vegetarian options are fantastic. And good sized portions.
I have visited Chai Ki several times now and it's never disappointed. The food and cocktails are amazing in the Toddy Shop. I have taken a number of friends there and they are all now Chai Ki converts! I think what also makes this place special is the staff. They are always welcoming and willing to engage in conversation. I would also like to recognise that they perform a difficult job e.g. notifying customers that there is a 2 hour turnaround time is not easy and requires a balance of diplomacy and firmness! In short, I really enjoy going to Chai Ki - it's a treat.
Lovely Indian food and very nice atmosphere too. We had the special Xmas menu which was very good value for money. We will definitely go back!
Great restaurant and food.
Menu was little restricted in the restaurant section compared to Bar area,
Otherwise food is awesome and great service.
I thought it had a good variety of options for food, it had a nice calm atmosphere good for dates or family dinners. I thought it would have been better if there were a wider menu and possibly with more vegetarian options. However, I was very pleased with the quality of the food. It was also very convenient to get to with 3 hours free parking in Canary Wharf too and I'd definitely go again.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere and the FOH were super helpful and a good crack too.
Food was ok. Service quite slow, maybe due to a number of Christmas parties in the restaurant.
The starter portion was quite small and was just average. the amritsari chicken was very nice and the naan bread was perfect(but small). the service was quite prompt and staff attentive.
This is quite a busy restaurant but is quite large, most of the seating is around tables but they have a couple of raised tables and outdoor tables (if the weather is good):
- attentive service
- set lunch menu (if I recall correctly £18 for 2 courses, £21 for 3 courses)
- reasonable selection of food; there are seafood and vegetarian options listed
- the food is quite nice; perhaps not as spicy as a traditional Indian restaurant but it does taste good
- food was delivered to the table hot; this was quite surprising considering the restaurant was full!
- recommended to book in advance when you can (e.g. can get busy around Christmas.
Overall this is highly recommended, a nice place to have decent food in the Canary Wharf area (the restaurant is below the new Crossrail station).
Nice short lunch menu - quickly served and very tasty.
On arrival our waitress handed us our menus but very shortly afterwards she pressed us for our order. We felt quite rushed. The food was served very quickly after ordering.
Food was tasty but not really very warm.
Good taste and service
Service was amazing food was even bettee
Portions for the main courses could be larger if possible. A bit more sauce in the dishes where u have curries would be excellent to go with rice.
Nice location for a creative Indian Cusine. Room for few more options in starters or man course.
Thank you to Chai Ki, firstly for accommodating us in your Hot Toddy restaurant as when I booked via Opentable it did not give me an option and so we had originally been booked in the more formal dining area. I would also like to mention that the service was great and as I had mentioned that this was for a birthday on the booking form, the friendly staff had brought out a cake with a candle for us, which was a lovely touch! Really great experience overall and the food was delicious! Will visit again!
Absolutely gorgeous food which is beautifully presented. Lovely atmosphere.
Delicious creative cooking. Excellent inventive cocktails
Me and my fiancé took my parents here for their anniversary last night, our 3rd time and their 1st. Throughly enjoyed it, beautiful food & restaurant. Service is great too!
Only negative point is where we were sat (back of restaurant against wall) was cold - a draught was coming through - and it cooled our dinner
Great food, flavours & cocktails. Very loud in the restaurant so difficult to have a conversation.
Service very bad. Forgot to bring water.
Fantastic food and great service. This restaurant has maintained consistency in their quality of food. Will recommend for fusion food (Indian food with British taste)
The lamb was succulent with super gravy. Suggest the chef provide extra potato sticks along with the dish
The set menu was very tasty and varied. The 3 dishes : chicken, prawns and Salmon were flavoured very well.
Very lovely Restaurant, food was lovely and atmosphere. We ended up with free dessert.
Food was great and service was outstanding.
Excellent modern Indian food. Love the paneer, prawn main dish and ginger rice
Fantastic take on Indian cuisine, with an interesting modern twist on traditional flavours. Nothing to complain about at all really - so, very minor points; the service was a little slow, but not excessively so, and it is a little expensive...but, you do get what you pay for, so should not complain. Overall, it is a great place to eat.
The food here was delicious, however staff seemed disorganised and service was haphazard, at times brisk and even unfriendly. Cocktails were good, albeit a little over sweetened for our taste.
Would definitely return.
Beautiful food, lovely decor, service is great! Mine and my fiancé’s second time here & we will continue to go. Highly recommend
I had a great experience with our waiter. The service was excellent too.
Lovely food, bit on the loud wide, could barely hear my partner speak. Good for a group booking, birthday, quick meal. Delicious prawn curry!
Good food and service! Ambience was good as well. Well accommodative. Plenty of vegetarian options to choose from and the cocktails were quite unique. Could be better priced.
Delicious food, excellent service , enjoyed the whole experience
Second time I've been here. Pales in comparison to the first visit. Our main was served and then after a 10 min wait our naan came. Service was average. Portions of meat in the dishes was minimal. Also the paneer was very bland only the sauce that it came with saved it. Overall very dissatisfied compared to my first visit
Lunch set menu was alright value for Canary Wharf standards. I think it was about 18 pounds for two courses and 22 pounds for three courses.
Service needs to be improved though, on of my guests indicated that the wrong food had been placed on our table and the waiter saw him signal this and just walked away. Quite rude in my view and would probably put me off from rushing back any time soon.
