We made a reservation for 5, months in advance, they crammed us into a 3 top in the middle of the bar. Ruined the dining experience we could eat without hitting elbows. Host was rude too

Even though we had a reservation, they kept us waiting for close to 30 minutes before seating us. The host was incredibly rude.

My beau and I got the drunken dumplings and hot pot to share. I did not realize that both dishes would be so involved, but I was pleasantly surprised! The giant syringe for sticking the dumplings with whisky was so extra in the best way possible. I had the beef dumplings, which were very good, but I think the pork dumplings may be the better choice. We got the A.S.S. hot pot, which was to die for, with pork belly. Our waiter was incredibly attentive, despite the restaurant being very busy. I've already told all my friends that they have to go here immediately!

Great happy hour for half price on drinks. The place is such a cool vibe. The food is also fantastic. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get happy hour, go for a date, or get together with friends.

The only problem I have with this place is that every time I have made a reservation I am seated more than fifteen min past my reservation (typically over 20 min) and I always arrive at least 5 min before my reservation appointment.

The staff was friendly and we were seated shortly after arriving. Our waitress took a bit longer than expected to greet us, but she was ok. We weren’t blown away by the service, but it was average. The food was excellent and that alone, makes us want to go back.

They put us at a table in the corner smushed between the wall and the bar. I made a reservation days in advance so I thought I would have a good table. Was a little disappointing.

I loved Everything about Chaplin and would gladly go back. It was my fiancé’s first time and he loved it too. From the mood lighting, service, to the menu, excellent in every way.

My fiancé loves spicy ramen so I recommended he get the Stamina while I went with Charlie A.S.S because if my love for lemongrass. Both were excellent dishes, each with its distinct broth flavor, chewy ramen, and appropriate level of spice. We even ordered the Pork plate for two and that was just delicious. Oh, did I mentioned we were totally thrilled with the happy hour drink pricing!? Just fabulous.

Ramen was sub-par, and while the Japanese style fried chicken was tender and moist, it came with "sweet and sour sauce" which I think was just a lot of ketchup, some sriracha, and maybe some honey (I didn't like it). The staff took the criticism well and went over the top to try to make the best of the experience, which wasn't unappreciated, but I come to places for the food.

I'd maybe come back here for cocktails, but not the food. That said, they don't claim to be a ramen place, they just have it on the menu.

Great food, all of us had a different ramen and they were all very good. Our waitress was excellent--courteous and efficient. We had a reservation for 6:45 on a Thursday night and arrived a little early but they seated us immediately. It did get more crowded by 7:30-8:00. Overall a great experience except that the noise level was a bit too loud to have an easy conversation.

As always, the food was delicious and the food came quickly once we ordered, but they sat us about 30 minutes after our reservation time (not a huge deal on its own) and put my party of three at a table meant for two people, right next to another party of three at a table meant for two. We were packed in like sardines, sitting on top of strangers with no room to breathe comfortably or eat without knocking one another. There wasn't enough room on the table for our plates. It was a really unpleasant experience. I understand that they were busy, but this could have been avoided if they were honest with customers and told them they didn't have room for more reservations instead of trying to cram everyone in. Be aware that even if you have a reservation, they may not give you a table with enough seats for your party. I hate to say this because I love their food and hadn't had a bad experience before this. I don't know if I will dine there again, and certainly not with guests from out of town. It was embarrassing to have my guests experience this after I had talked it up!

Food is always delicious here. The only downside to this place is it is usually crowded so when the outside is closed for bad weather there is always a wait. We had an 8pm reservation but didn't get seated until 8:20. However, the hostess was apologetic and brought over free sparkling wine.

I've been to Chaplin's several times because of it's reputation for ramen but I'm disappointed each time. The cocktails are cool looking but mostly too sweet, the gyoza taste of burned oil, and and ramen is just average - good broth but the pork is stinky. I had hoped the first time that it was just an off day for the kitchen but have since tried two more times with the same lackluster results.

Loved Chaplin! I had passed by this place several times and finally made a reservation for a Friday night. Despite being extremely busy, we were seated right away. We ordered cocktails, two starters, and two ramen bowls. While the ramen I chose was one of the spiciest dishes I'd ever had (and I love spicy) it still had incredible flavor. I just wish the menu had a bit more selection. But if you love ramen, definitely check this place out!

Although a fairly short walk from our house, we had never sought out Chaplin, which has the reputation of being a place where stylish young people go to drink and be seen. But after hearing good word of mouth about the place, we decided to give it a try.

True to reputation, most of the clientele was a lot younger and more stylish then we are. (Our service was nonetheless fine.) And cocktails, which are very attractively priced for happy hour and quite good, are a centerpiece of the menu. Nevertheless, the Japanese cuisine is quite creditable. We had nicely fried dumplings as an appetizer, followed by very flavorful ramen (although the noodles could have been a bit firmer).

We ate outside on a unseasonably warm autumn evening, where we had a much quieter (and it appears, less cramped) experience than those inside the dining room.

I frequent Chaplin's for ramen and/or drinks. I'm a huge fan of their Miso ramen. I typically get mine vegetarian or vegan (originally comes with ground pork) and add a spice bomb to take it up a notch. It never disappoints! Service is fast and friendly. I definitely suggest making a reservation as seats can be hard to come by. Also note, the majority of your party must be present before you can be seated.

Really enjoyed the food, I had the Stamina Spicy I believe and enthusiastically finished it. I'll probably order some add-ins next time. Also ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Shumai - very good. For the dessert we got the fried mochi with red bean paste and didn't like it. We were looking to order something small for the dessert but should have just gone for something else.

Overall would definitely go again.
