Sunday ~ Bar: 12:00pm to 1:30am and Kitchen: 12:00pm to 11:00pm Happy Hour: Sunday - Thursday: 3:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Chaplin is one of my favorite places in DC! The happy hour (including on weekends) is a great deal, the ramen always delivers, and the service is great. Will definitely be back soon.
Food and drinks are great. Good Vegan options. One bar downstairs and also another on the second floor
Chaplain's is by far the best restaurant for Ramen in D.C! If you don't get the chaplain A.S.S, then you aren't living right (unless your a vegetarian like my girlfriend who also loves their veggie Ramen)
Pork ribs were amazing! Everything else was okay. Great service!
The food was amazing, but it was very loud. I was seated inside on the second floor by a table of about 6 people that was yelling at each other the entire time. You could tell that they were drunk so we let it go for a while until one girl got super loud to the point where the entire restaurant thought she was making an announcement. At this point I complained to our waiter who was also the bartender and she did nothing, but as soon as this older guy that was sitting at the bar said something she decided to finally approach them. That did nothing and stayed loud until we left
Staff was great! Excellent drinks and a great buzz at both bars (upstairs and main floor). Don’t go here to have any conversations as the noise level is off the charts. Food was satisfactory at best. Go get a drink or two and then move on to somewhere else for food and socializing.
Fun drinks that are a great price during happy hour. Ramen was pretty good
Hard to talk at times as it was very noisy inside but overall a fantastic experience. We will definitely be going back.
Wonderful!!!!! One of our favorite places in DC! The service is great and the bartender is our favorite!!!!! Can’t wait to go back!
Even though I had a reservation it was about a half hour wait. Totally understandable, due to the heavy rain, but still it was uncomfortable to have seven people waiting in the doorway for half an hour. We watched as the manager and the head hostess got into a verbal “altercation” so that wasn’t really pleasant. Food came out quickly and was good, plus our waitress was very nice so that helped offset the bad start.
Chaplin’s NEVER disappoints!!! We live outside the city and always willing to make the drive in when we are in the mood for ramen. We have tried other places and nothing compares!
Delicious food! Ramen was among best I've had in DC!
The food was delicious and was quick to arrive once ordered. Wait staff was attentive as well as hostess. My party was late and Chaplin still held my reservation which was very considerate. We ate outside since the inside was very noisy, outdoor dining was perfect. Lots of fun cocktails. Will return to Chaplin
Chaplins does not disappoint. Try to get there before 7 pm for happy hour drinks, and then let your evening unfold. Service was attentive, informative and consistent. Kudos Chaplins for a great evening!
Server was amazing and the food was excellent! The kitchen was backed up and it took us awhile to get our food, which is why I gave the service 4 instead of 5 stars. Chaplin’s is still my favorite Ramen in DC.
Excellent atmosphere, food and $15 Johnny Walker Blue!
Best RAMEN in DC!
The atmosphere is adorable. Everyone was friendly & helpful. The ramen was very good, but the boozy dumplings stole the show. Extensive cocktail list & good choices of wine and beer. Overall very nice experience.
My wife and I wanted ramen and had a great meal here. The service was wonderful, and they do a good job with the ramen. Would come back!
I think one of the best Ramen in DC area. Good house kneaded noodles.
Always treated so well when we come here. Food is always excellent as is the service and most of all, food.
We really enjoyed Chaplins! The service was excellent from start to finish. Our waitress altered us we still had a few minutes left for Happy Hour, and even pointed out some tastier versions of our first order to us so we could adjust. Timing was perfect, not rushed but didn't take forever. Craft drinks, appetizers, and ramen dishes were superb!
Wonderful dinner and atmosphere!
One of the best places in DC by far. I come every time I’m in town and they have never disappointed.
I made a reservation on open table 45 minutes in advance. When I arrived they said they had no table and I would have to wait 45 more minutes.
Chaplin's continues to impress me with their Ramen. I lived in Japan for 4.5 years, and very few ramen places actually carry Tan Tan Men. a must have.
Phenomenal! Always a great spot to take family members or dates.
Brought my family from out of town here for some Ramen and they were very happy with the experience. Food was decent and portions were large, however the Ramen was a little bland (if you get the veggie shio) and my guests regretted adding chicken to theirs as it was a lot of meat. I had the Chaplin A.S.S. and it was really flavorful and spicy. Wasn't the biggest fan of the pork in it because it was a large portion and difficult to eat (large cuts). Next time will order it meatless as it didn't really add anything special to the dish and I ended up picking it out. The traditional gyoza's (ordered pork and veggie) were delicious and come in orders of 6, which is awesome!
Overall was a really nice dinner but a bit too much of a bar scene and not really a family restaurant since the music was quite loud. Will come back again but perhaps as a date night instead of family gathering.
Chaplin is always a sure bet for ramen and drinks with friends! Service is usually speedy and attentive. It can get loud inside, but other than that it should be your go-to spot!
It was my last night living in DC (after 6 years) and my mom was in town to oversee the move. Chaplin’s has been her fav DC restaurant since she first visited- it was the perfect dinner to end my time in this city. Service was fantastic, wine selection was great, and I’m so happy my last night in DC was at Chaplin’s.
Waiters & waitresses are very friendly. I love the food and drinks. One of my favorite restaurants in DC!
It’s my second time and the Ramen is A-1
Chaplin's is a great place if you're looking for some great comfort food. From their ramen to their fried chicken, this place has a lot to offer.
Ramen was tasty and service was great. Food took longer than anticipated to come out but either way, still delicious! Noise level is kinda loud and very dark atmosphere.
Excellent per usual.
After reading the reviews, I was prepared for a great experience. However, the food wasn't bad but it was nothing special. I will not be returning here as there are tastier restaurants around.
Waitress rushed us the whole time. Not very pleasant
I came here on a Sunday night with a reservation, they are definitely necessary because the place was packed. The staff was very nice and there was a fun ambiance, although the noise was kinda disturbing. They play their music very loud and together with the noise from the other guests, it doesn’t create a relaxed dining experience. The food is delicious though, I had pork dumplings and spicy chicken ramen, both very tasty and unique! Their cocktail list is nice as well but the drinks are expensive, they often cost more than your main dish which is a bit silly.
Super accommodating... we had an excellent time
Ok, so this place looks cool and has an energetic vibe inside. The problem is that it is so loud you can hardly hear the person in front of you. This might be OK if the service and food were good, but both just suck. The food is pretty awful and way too costly for such a bad attempt at Ramen. The "buns" are the worst I have ever had and the Ramen is nothing special yet costs like it should make you see heaven. Lets get to the crappy service. It took 15 minutes just to get a drink order and then our server disappeared. We had to flag someone down and force them to take our order. Maybe this place is so popular because of a mass mindset that it "has to be good".....but its not, its simply not good at all. Save yourself the earache and tasteless food experience and hit a hole in the wall Ramen place that costs half as much with ten times the flavor.
