Fantastic dinner with my Fiancée. Food was on point, service was fantastic and the ambience was fabulous. Highly recommended.
There for an anniversary celebration lunch. The service was excellent without intrusion. The food was great The atmosphere and attention of the staff made it a special day in every way.
Our family have been regular visitors to Chapter One for many years and through many changes . The food has always been wonderful and historically there was generally a warm welcome . We eat in both the restaurant and Brasserie .
The new physical improvements are stunning .The one variable from visit to visit seems to be the quality of service . Having dined in the Brasserie with our family on Christmas Eve and receiving the best of food and service , we brought our sister for a celebration lunch on Monday of this week . The food was delicious but the waiter was surly , unwelcoming and difficult to communicate with . I had the grilled fish but wasn’t advised that it came unaccompanied by vegetables . I didn’t make a fuss as the food had taken a while to be served and time was limited .
I used a voucher as part payment which my son bought for us as we do love Chapter One . I do have another but will wait a while before re booking .
Haven’t been to Chapter One for years and I will certainly be returning soon. Food was lovely, the service faultless and it was excellent value for a three course Sunday roast. It is without doubt the best Sunday lunch locally.
Excellent service and welcome as always. Slick professional busy Sunday lunch service. We were surprised to be asked to chose our desert option as well as starter and main course choice at the same time. Sunday lunch very good value in such a nice environment. We will be back.
Staff attentive, quick to serve and clear table. Three course meal served and consumed in one and a half hours.
We went for a birthday celebration to the restaurant (and bar) for dinner and drinks.
Staff were outstanding from the moment we arrived (reception), at the bar as well as the restaurant.
It was our first visit to the restaurant and we will be going back for sure.
Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion.
Very good as usual but still very expensive.
loved the new ambience of the restaurant .
always well received . food was very good, excepting the main pork which was only tepid . excellent desert and lovely wine
Lovely meal served by friendly staff. Great value for money
Very nice restaurant , great food and service cannot be faulted. On the expensive side but you gotta pay for quality.
Not a lively place and all talk is kept on the quiet side.
But for a special / romantic occasion - its Tip Top
We liked the restaurant, and the staff were very fri7and helpful but we thought it was expensive. We were only given the 3 course menu. I’ve seen e seen the open table email giving a two course and a special offer menu. I thought this was a bit disappointing.
Overall the food was very good. I think the lighting was too bright but apart from that, I would go again. I would ask for the menu choices though.
Nice restaurant but becoming expensive now! Somehow the price is creeping up. Lovely place but can’t do it regularly. The staff are amazing!
Worst dining experience of my life. The only thing they were good at was being outrageously rude.
Lovely restaurant. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The whole meal was beautifully presented with top quality ingredients being cooked to perfection. Wine list is extensive with something to suit most budgets with a very good sommelier who is happy to guide you if you wish. Could not fault a thing about our whole experience.
Food was great, service exceptional, made a special occasion really special
Food is nice but some of the staff just ignored you while serving, especially when we were paying
Everything about this resturant is Excellent, the food and the service , all staff very helpful and attentive , I was asked if we were there for a special occasion and I said it had been my birthday that week , at the end of the meal a large plate was bought to our table with happy birthday written in chocolate and a cupcake with a lit candle in it , lovely touch , would highly recommend for Sunday lunch
As always, an excellent meal and service.xxxxxxxxxx
chapter one locksbottom maintains a very good standard of both food and service. the closed in patio now offers an extra large area for eating or drinking. the menu is not overly large but offers interesting choices, some of which are not available else where. well worth a visit.
Staff very attentive and pleasant. Food was of a very high standard and surprisingly in reasonable size quantities.
Really good food at a fair price. We had dinner in the main restaurant.
All the food was really tasty using seasonal ingredients. Our artichoke soup had an intensity and punch that hit the spot igniting the taste buds while its creamy texture felt satisfying. We had a variety of different meats which were all beautifully cooked with sides that complemented the meat with some fun twists but without going too far. (I like experimenting with food, but sometimes it seems that chefs cook to show off or experiment rather than for the customer to really enjoy it). We had a blood orange cake for dessert which had a fine grained texture with blood orange jellies on the side - again a great intensity and array of textures.
Good wine options were available. Staff were friendly and professional. I like Chapter One as it provides an atmosphere which lends itself to a sense of occasion, while remaining friendly and in no way stuffy. The food is great and for what you get (it is fine dining) the price seems fair.
Staff and service were excellent. Food was outstanding. Fantastic evening.
Fantastic place, great food and better service we can’t wait to go back again.
The lunch was very expensive and the food was very disappointing. I have been here and eaten for years and this was the first time I have ever not been able to eat my food. I have always loved the food in Chapter One but today was very disappointing. Service still great
What a great end to a birthday. We had the 3 course meal and now we will be full for a week! The food tasted so fresh. The service was fantastic. Would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions!
Our second visit for lunch after being very impressed at a lunch with a guest on what we thought was a busy day, a Saturday at end November. Though a Friday and a booking as late (so we thought) of 2.45, restaurant really busy, and not surprising considering the excellent attentive and unhurried service. Good food, we had the set lunch, perfectly tasty and main course was fresh and a good portion.
Our pilgrimage trips to the Hither Green cemetery twice a year for anniversaries of deceased parents near to Bromley area where I was brought up are special, and we are so glad to have found Chapter One to complete our reflective and memorable day. Thank you. We will return.
Super food and excellent service. Overall a lovely experience.
The food is amazing, so many different tastes on each plate and exquisitely done. We love the place because all the staff are so friendly and welcoming and make you feel really special. We visit at least twice a year and are never disappointed. Just wish we were a bit nearer! Thank you for making our anniversary a wonderful celebration, especially as you were unaware at the time of booking! Keep up the good work.
Everything was perfect, thank you for a great night out.
Service was great, food was stunning! A must for any special occasion.
Fodd exquisite, staff and service excellent - what more could anyone else want?
I used to love coming here - but the food was definitely lack-luster. The food choice was limited. In fact, the tastiest thing on the menu were the bread rolls at the beginning and the bottle of wine we ordered, which was delicious.
We were greeted warmly by the hostess, but our waiters were snooty to the point of rude. These guys can make or break an evening and they definitely broke ours. Nothing was explained and no other options were offered to us. We had taken our friends after telling them what fantastic food we had eaten there - we were all left disappointed.
Sadly, this is a restaurant that has gone downhill.
Outstanding service and food as expected. Excellent staff. Drinks were on table seconds after ordering. Excellent value for money for the Sunday lunch menu
Bagpipe player took away from the experience rather than added! Thankfully only walked through twice but noise was deafening! Check bill as we were charged for a three course and a two course but only had. A main and a two course ...difference of about £35! Fantastic service though and somewhere special for a treat.
we went to the burns night evening so a five course meal with a scottish flavour. loved the first four courses but disappointed in the tunnocks tea cakes 'cos they weren't really!! the final desert course was lovely but for me, too rich. however a lovely experience and well worht going. the staff are always so lovely and make one feel so very welcome.
Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our three course lunch. Every course for each of us delivered way above expectation both in terms of flavour and look. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and we were very well looked after. A very happy experience indeed!
Was just a shame it was a bit cold in there! Otherwise divine!
Friendly but professional. Very enjoyable food. A very nice restaurant on our doorstep. We made the booking as a treat for our son and new fiancée down from Liverpool and an acknowledgement was made with a tiny cake and chocolate 'congrats' written on the plate. A nice' unexpected touch ' thank you. Would definitely come again. PS have been before !!
a very gastronomic £26 88 ? menu matched the celebration we wish to make for my husbands 84th Birthday-service excellent food delicious wine a 23 Macedonian very palatable
