At Chapter One, we believe that offering value for money is just as important as award-winning food. Three courses at dinner is £39.95, for lunch is £19.95 and we also offer a less formal brasserie menu available Monday – Saturday lunchtimes. On a Sunday evening you can enjoy the a la carte menu for just £34.95 – the perfect way to round off your weekend.
Booked for my husband’s birthday and our 35th wedding anniversary which was earlier in the month. We had the tasting menu with matched wines. Food delicious (as always) and wines perfectly matched - certainly saves trying to choose a bottle that sort of goes with everything. Service as usual friendly and efficient. Looking forward to our next visit in 10 days time! We always enjoy our visits.
From the time we arrived until we left, it was a superb evening with excellent food and wine and the service was lovely - not intrusive.
We’re regulars at ChapterOne but service continues to improve and food remains top class. Wonderful aubergine and pok Choi with the lamb. Great risotto. Distinctive deserts. Good wines by the glass st lunch.
chapter one has had a revamp and it looks great. the bar and brasserie area are really nice, the bar particularly. the menu is slightly different was some interesting choices. it never disappoints.
The food was fabulous - as always. The bread and sides also delicious. We have never had a bad dish at Chapter One. The new refurb is elegant and understated. Service as always was great.
Would be nice to have dessert options without nuts on the set menu. Disappointed the chef has stopped doing his lovely buttered carrots - they were never on the menu, but have requested them on many occasions, but not anymore!
Lovely Spring menu
First visit, very impressed by choice and quality of courses on fixed price menu enjoyed in a near-full but quiet restaurant. Excellent service, attentive but unobtrusive.
Love the new look, the service was on point, the food was fabulous especially the roast cod.
My friends birthday
Great attention by the team, cocktails to die for and wonderful food.
excellent food and service. can't fault this place.
Amazing food and great service. I’d recommend to all.
Good to see a restaurant with old fashioned service. Excellent fresh decor too.
Foods always been good but place lacks atmosphere quite soul less in there! Thought I would try again since renovations but just the same, shame as food is very good and service definitely friendlier than used to be!
The food was absolutely delicious. The starter, main and dessert cannot be faulted. It was a taste sensation! The butter chicken was the best I have ever tasted and was beautifully tender.
My only criticism would be value for money. It is pricey for a lunchtime menu and even beats West End prices.
Saying that I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and look forward to returning to Chapter One very soon.
Staff and services were great and attentive, the prices are very high for what is essentially just traditional food and wine. However that is made up by the staffing.
Perfect lunch for my parents on father’s birthday-Chapter One never fails even with the lunchtime deal which is great value
Always enjoyable - the lunch menu is very good value.
We went for the excellent value set menu lunch, made even better value during the Spring promotion. The food was up to the usual superb standard, although my wife wasn't overwhelmed by the chocolate mousse dessert. The ambience was lovely, and we like the recent refurb. The only gripe was that for some reason there was a hitch in the kitchen and we had a long wait for our main course. The restaurant serving staff were very apologetic, and my 3 star rating for service does not reflect their efforts which were impeccable. The maitre d' kindly gave us complimentary wine as compensation. Our experience will not stop us returning to what remains the best (and best value) restaurant outside Central London.
Nice ambience for a Monday evening, we both ordered Duck only to be told ‘no duck’ and not advised beforehand. Very good service otherwise and the food was exemplary. 2 set meals plus four individual drinks £157 inc service so not cheap.
We dined at Chapter One for our Anniversary a couple of weeks ago. As always the food was outstanding as was the service. They marked our celebration with a complimentary cupcake on a plate saying Happy Anniversary which was a lovely touch.
The only reason I haven't given them a score of 5 was because I felt there was no atmosphere. Not sure if it was because it was a Monday night and not as many guests but it felt a little "flat" in the room.
Overall, it was a great evening and I will be returning.
Excellent food & service. The creme brulee was the best I have ever tasted and the homemade petits fours with coffee, were not only a wonderful touch but were also absolutely delicious. There were plenty of waiting staff, who were not only very attentive, but also knowledgeable about the dishes and wines. The Menu du Jour was excellent value for money.
The food and service were outstanding and the atmosphere was very buzzy. Can’t wait to visit again!
Perfect restaurant for a celebration meal. Have already recommended to my friends.
Excellent birthday lunch! Lovely food, friendly and efficient service! Will return soon!
The Spring menu was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Great food and service, not been for a while but it has definitely improved and would highly recommend
All if good! Just disappointed that I specifically mentioned in my reservation that it was my husband’s birthday and requested a dessert plate but nothing came out. Although the waiters are super attentive!
Three course Sunday offer is still good value for money especially as the food quality seems to have improved.
Food was good once again only moan was there having work done and the lights were dim then bright all night and an absolute pain
The food, as always, was delicious and the price of the Menu du Jour very reasonable for the quality (would have been even more reasonable had we gone the day before and taken advantage of one of Chapter One's frequent offers - bad timing of our anniversary!) The room was agreeably quieter than usual - have they managed to improve the acoustics or was it just due to the fact that not all tables were occupied when we arrived? Wine list extensive but mostly extortionately priced; there's usually one or two that don't require a second mortgage but a good house wine at something south of £20 would be a great addition.
Disappointed the main meal my wife ordered was no longer available. We were not told this when given menus. Service a little slow especially as the restaurant was not very busy. Not keen on the new decor rather cold ambience.
Brilliant service unfortunately the food is not as adventurous as it used to be. Still a pleasurable experience
I treated my sister-in-law to lunch for her birthday. The food was tasty and well presented. The restaurant has been nicely refurbished and is bright airy and comfortable.
I love this restaurant and often come here for lunch and the odd evening meal. The special offers are good especialkt the lunch menu.
No doubt I will be returning in the near future.
Everything 10/10. The food was unreal and service was fantastic!
Haven’t been for a long time as I felt it had become a bit dated - but went again on the recommendation of a friend and was very impressed as it had been revamped. Friendly staff, great food, good bar area for pre / post dinner drink.
Excellent service from our Indian waiter. Food & ambiance very good. Very young crying child near to us was drowned out by the adults enjoying themselves. Restaurant should consider if under 5's are appropriate in this enviroment. One screaming child can spoil lunch for everyone in restaurant.
The food was excellent and great value. The portions are very generous. However, the newly redecorated space could do with some more soft furnishings as we both found it quite noisy.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here with a Sunday lunch. The fixed price menu choices we made were all excellent, well cooked and tasty. Compared a previous visit a couple of years ago, the quality and the quantity of food were both improved. The Sunday lunch is clearly popular with many people, the restaurant was full, mainly families, some with children but despite this, the waiting times for service were short as there were plenty of staff, all of whom seemed very pleasant and helpful.
We each had a glass of wine (a Chilean Sauvignon and a SlovenianCabernet Merlot) and both of these were very good.
Relaxed, stylish atmosphere; friendly and efficient but discreet service; and excellent food. Also appreciated the Tesla destination chargers in the car park, which had led me to choose Chapter One to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
