It is rather difficult to provide a analysis. Unlike many local eateries, everything at Char is flawless. The ambience Is warm and inviting; the service is professional without being stilted; the food and the drinks are exquisite; and the and ownership and the dedication of Elio is unparalleled. And, by the way, the prices are comparable to far less enjoyable places nearby.
Very nice. Food and service were great. Nice for lunch. Will be back.
Waiter left three quarters into our dinner and no one bothered to let us know or send a replacement. After a long wait, I flagged another server and requested the bill. Once we received the bill and gave our credit cards (bill to be split into 2), our credit cards were charged $100 more than the bill reflected. I then had to go to the server to have him charge the correct amounts and reverse the first charge to our credit cards. Overall - food was delicious but service was disappointing.
Great service, always. The veggie options are great. I used to come for a steak and fries. Now I come for cauliflower, brussel sprouts and wild mushrooms. It’s even better than the steak and fries.
Char is our favorite restaurant, we highly recommend the shrimps and the sirloin steak and chocolate lava cake - gluten free!, but every dish is delicious, the owners are always there ensuring everything is taken care of and the staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable - in addition the ambiance and decoration is beautiful!
We had our dinner wedding there, our holiday's company dinners there, our anniversary dinner there and we have given Char gift cards to our friends - cannot go wrong with Char!
Second time eating at Char and it was just as good as I had remembered. Great service and delicious food!
We weren’t told the specials, the steak came super rare instead of medium and when my wife accidentally spilled some of her wine they didn’t come by to pour in a little more for her. I wouldn’t go back.
Excellent food and service. Updated contemporary menu and the owner placed us near a fabulous fireplace.
Char is our favorite place to go to so we went for our anniversary. They were attentive and wished us a happy anniversary upon arrival and during our experience to which they brought us a scoop of ice cream with a candle to tie everything in. The wine recommendation was perfect and matched our courses. The grilled octopus appetizer is beyond amazing and remains our favorite dish.
The food and service are always consistently great at Char, and the ambiance is quaint and relaxing with the fireplace and the rest of the decor.
Very noisy Saturday evening. Service a bit slow but food and atmosphere was great.
I recently became mostly plant based. The vegetable options at Char are amazing. Grilled cauliflower with mint, sautéed wild mushrooms, kale and shaved Brussel sprouts were gourmet. Service is always friendly. Ambiance by the fireplace is fantastic especially in the winter.
Never disappointed, great space and lots of parking.
Great experience. Restaurant was a little slow for a Wednesday night but loved the interior atmosphere , fireplace , service was great and food was great. We tried the drinks on the menu and had wine. Actually appreciated it wasn’t crowded as we had good conversation without talking over each other in group conversations. Would definitely go back.
Out table first table that we sat at was very wobbly. The waiter tried to fix the wobble but informed us that it was the top of the table that was loose. He quickly moved us to an adjacent table that was sturdy.
We started with the grilled octopus as an appetizer and it was absolutely fantastic! Incredibly tender, cooked to perfection, and had a deep rich delicious taste.
I had the glazed salmon that was cooked to perfection as well. Slightly crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside.
My wife ordered the sliced sirloin steak with chimichurri sauce. It is her favorite thing to order there, and she raved about it the whole way home. She wasn’t a big fan of the mushroom fries, but I thought they were very good as well.
We finished with a homemade chocolate chip cookie in a small skillet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was warm and delectable.
We will be back.
My family's visit to Char was delightful. The service was outstanding, the food was excellent and for all we ate and drank, the cost was reasonable. Having eaten at their Dolphin restaurant a few times, I decided to try Char and was not disappointed. Not only do I highly recommend it, but I will make the drive to Greenwich again and again.
Great venue for a gals' get together. Comfortable, casual, great lighting, good service. Wine is a generous pour at a good value by the glass. Our only complaint is we'd like to see more lower-priced selections, or some dishes available family-style.
This is one of those places that when we eat here we ask ourselves why don't we come more often, It epitomizes a neighborhood restaurant with attentive friendly service and food that is as good as anything around. Every dish we had was super tasty, their specialty cocktails featuring local spirits are excellent and were a great backdrop to our meal.
We find the menu to be focused and feature local ingredients and the season. The waitstaff are very knowledgeable about each dish and when we couldn't decide between options made the right recommendation.
Fantastic food but the service was terrible. Mistakes on the order and then waited 30 minutes for appetizers and sat with dirty plates waiting to be cleared for 15 mins after finishing main course. It was not that crowded and other patrons were frustrated too. This is the second visit that this has happened so alas I won’t be returning. Shame as menu is great.
Went for Xmas eve and the service and food were incredible. Everything that came out was perfection and the gluten free options were the best we have seen in s long time! Thank you for an amazing night
Excellent food, outstanding service, reasonable prices. Will be returning soon and encouraging my friends to go.
Four of us enjoyed the prix fixe dinner, a very good value. The food is good (the spinach salad with asian pear was excellent as an appetizer.) 3 of us had the tasty salmon preparation as a main dish. The fourth person had sliced steak and found it chewy.
We went on a Monday evening when bottles of wine were half price. The server was very patient and pleasant. This is a good place for a casual dinner with friends.
consistently delicious, creative, fresh food, attentive staff - I have never been disappointed
We have been to this restaurant many times, and really liked the food and service. Our visit this week was marred when Char seated a table of six young women celebrating a birthday and this was the loudest, noisiest celebrationPossible. I wish they had seated this party in the private party room. We could hardly hear each other at our table of four. Otherwise the night was delightful.
The food was well-prepared and presented in an attractive fashion. I highly recommend the jambalaya and the sliced sirloin steak as entrees and the grilled cauliflower and chicken spring rolls as appetizers. The drink specials were delicious. The service from the waitstaff was courteous and attentive. Since I went there to celebrate a special occasion and informed the hostess beforehand, efforts were made to properly celebrate the evening. The parking lot has ample parking and the restaurant is easily located off I-95. Even as more guests came and the dining room reached capacity, it was still easy to maintain and understand conversation. I highly recommend Char to anyone in the area who is looking to celebrate a special occasion or just a night out.
Awesome place food was superb. Highly recommend.
Great vibe, great service, healthy and delicious food. We never felt rushed. Can’t wait to return!
Quiet and lacking any real atmosphere, given that it was a Friday evening. Food was OK but nothing special and service was pretty good.
Ambiance was outstanding, service was good, although not outstanding as we felt slightly rushed to place our orders, despite the restaurant not yet being crowded. Entered through the bar entrance which made for an awkward seating as we had to walk through the restaurant to the host table to then walk back towards the bar. Went for Hudson valley restaurant week and the food was very very good! Loved it! Unsure if I would want to pay full dollar price compared to other fine dining restaurants in Westchester, but was a great experience nonetheless.
Our meal was really delicious! I had not been to Char in quite awhile and our meal makes me want to go back soon. The atmosphere is rustic and cozy. Loved it.
Amazing food - from starters to salad to entree to dessert. Delicious!! Service was great- attentive and no rush. Very nice atmosphere. Will be back!!
Fantastic for nice lunch, they do a 2 course for $22 of appetizer and entree or entree and dessert. Opted for the Crispy Shrimp appetizer which is amazing, and Grilled chicken breast for entree with mushrooms, ad some spinach, which I believe if you ordered the 2 dishes separately would have been about $30 or so, and with the savings I treated myself to a nice Willamette Valley Pinot Noir for about for $16 I believe. amazing value for such quality food, not busy for lunch at all even with their own parking lot as I believe they are more of a dinner time place but I’m surprised as it’s such a great place for lunch as well. I will be back!
Excellent dinner enjoyed by four of us. . Kale and Brussels sprout salad was great; zucchini ribbons Vegetarian entrée was unique and very delicious, as was the salmon. Chocolate cake with mocha ice cream was out of this world.
The room filled up as the evening went on, but it never became too noisy to hear conversation.
Service was adequate, good enough.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to others.
Beautiful wood interior with excellent and varied menu choices, good wine and great service. No complaints! It recently changed hands and so far they're doing very well!
Was a very good spot for a business lunch. The $22 meal is a very good value and the food was good.
Deliciously and friendly service always.
Great food ambiance and service
Had a lovely dinner on Sunday evening. Roasted half chicken with potatoes and green beans with pan jus was comforting and delicious, very well executed. My friend had the special which was striped bass which was creative, seasonal, and delicious as well. Highly recommend this lovely little spot!
Appetizers were lovely, grilled Octopus, Brussels sprouts and gnocchi. I had the special- Striped Bass. It was beautifully presented. No complaints and we will be back.
