Amazing. As always!
Charcoal Steak House is a nice restaurant. We went for a night out and the food was good. It was loud enough that we had to speak up a bit to talk, but not deafening or anything. The server was great and checked back with us. She described the fries with Steak Frites as addictive, but admitted that she hadn't tried something else that I asked about.

Server Stella was wonderful. Everything was perfect.

Service was awful. Took 20 minutes to order drinks. Took even longer to receive them.
Food was mediocre, bland, tiny portions for price.
Appetizer of Cali shrimp tasted like it was freezer burned and took zero thought. Not worth the price. Margarita tasted watered down. Overall disappointing experience.
The food was not very good for the price. Meat over cooked. Very salty, not enough of one thing or too much of another. Not what I expected for a 70 dollar lunch

I had filet mignonette and the steak was tender and delicious. Our server was very friendly and could answer our question if she didn't know the answer she went and asked someone. It was an overall great birthday dinner

Nice ambiance, good menu choices, good plate presentation, friendly staff. Nice rest rooms. Unfortunately the food was very over cooked, would have sent it back if I had the time. Also, 40 minutes between finishing starter and serving of entre is very long. Note that restaurant was only half full, apologizing for kitchen delays is not enough.
Before you assume that I am being unfair, be aware that I have worked for an Airline for 40 years. I have travelled to literally hundreds of cities around the world, and have a lot of restaurants to compare to.
Quality and flavour of food that we ate didn't justify the cost. Ribs were tough and pigtails were awful, garlic mashed potatoes were crusty and dry. Chicken was overcooked. Our server was attentive but didn't smile. The restaurant was clean and quiet but that isn't enough to convince us to go back or recommend it.
Tina, my apologies for your underwhelming visit. It does not sound at all like the experience we intend for any guest to have, nor does it reflect the care we put into our dishes. I do hope you let your server know that the meal was not to your liking so that we could prepare a new one for you. Not up to the charcoal groups standards. Wine list seems to be diminishing. Ordered the one and only bottle of Bordeaux on the menu. Service was very slow and inattentive. I had a ribeye and it was perfect. My wife had the ribs and they were good as well.
The meal was delicious, our waitress, excellent. We weren't happy that the wall has been taken down and made into a bar with TV's - it makes it feel more like a "sports bar", which I don't think of for The Charcoal Steakhouse. We also found it to be very loud.
The washrooms in both the mens and womens washroom were not in good shape. No toilet paper in one stall, no hand towels in either washroom, water splashed everywhere. A big difference from last visit. I did mention it to the front staff and they said they would have it taken care of.
Thank you for your review Jan. I have made a note on your profile in Open Table that you prefer not to sit in the Cellar room so the tv's will not be an issue for you in the future. I am so sorry about the washroom. We regularly check on them but clearly not enough on that incredibly busy Saturday night. I guarantee you we will keep on top of that better in the future. I am happy you had a wonderful Anniversary Dinner!

Our first time since the renovations earlier this year and they were well done. Service was perfect, not rushed, but nicely timed. Had trouble deciding what to have as the steak, pig tails and seafood all looked delicious. Nice surprise at the end when an Anniversary Brownie appeared. At the start of the evening we briefly mentioned we were celebrating. Special night out for us.

The food was excellent and the service was great! We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and they had a very special dessert prepared for us- great overall experience!

The service and food were excellent. The washrooms were clean and well stocked. The atmosphere was great. While we did not use it the private room was in use during our stay and because of that the noise level was held down.

Restaurant was wonderful for the most part. Surprised they did not provide table bread before our appetizers and meals based on how much we were spending.
We ordered prime rib which was larger than the stated size on the menu (not complaining). Came out rarer than we had anticipated.
Lobster tail was the best I’ve ever had.

Please do not be afraid the next time you are in to ask for bread as I am sure we could find something for you - as well, our garlic bread with cheese is to die for! Excellent service. My wife loved her beef tenderloin. My ribeye did not seem to have much flavour. Will definitely be back again, as we have had good experiences in several previous experiences.

Charcoal Steak house has been a Kitchener landmark for many years. It has been updated over the years and has an excellent ambiance for fine dining in the dinning room or a night out at or around the bar. noise level never interferes with table conversation.
All staff from the moment you walk in the door are pleasant and make you feel welcome and at home.
Menu has a good selection from appetizers to main dishes, portions are good to large and the presentation and flavours are first class. Don't forget to try and save room for a decadent desert.
This is our go-to restaurant in Waterloo Region for that special occasion or a great night out meal.

The food was fantastic.
We made a reservation on-line for 8pm. Unfortunately, the restaurant was planning to close early in order to commence some renovations. As a result we felt a little rushed during our meal. It would have been nice if we were notified in advance regarding timing.
I'm so sorry that you felt like you were rushed out Fergie. We did have some maintenance that we were doing that evening but that should not have effected your experience so I am sorry that it did. I am however glad you enjoyed your meal! We will be more vigilant about posting any modified hours for our guests to know ahead of time (which rarely ever happens!). my wife and i dine at Charcoal Steak House every year for our anniversary and have never been disappointed. this year they gave us complimentary champagne and dessert that read "Happy 25th Anniversary" on it. that was above and beyond. thank you for the wonderful memories.

I’ll start by saying that Charcoal is our favourite restaurant. I do however have a complaint about our most recent visit. It was my wife’s birthday. The server noticed my wife opening a gift and asked what we were celebrating. My wife told her it was her birthday. At the end of our meal, she told us she had a special dessert for the birthday girl. She received the dessert and enjoyed it. Then I received the bill. $2.25 for “Bday Dessert.” Not a lot of money, but caught me off guard. Normally a bday dessert is complimentary, but if not, you would expect the server to tell me there will be a charge. I didn’t say anything and paid the bill, so as to keep my wife’s birthday positive. I’m sure most people would not be happy receiving a bill for a dessert that is presented to them as a “special dessert for the birthday girl.”
I hope you change your practise on this before you upset more people.

My guests and I found the noise level to be very high and it was difficult to have a conversation without raising our voices which only contributed more to the noise. As always the food was excellent but I had to ask for another baked potato as it was clearly bad. Glad I ordered sour cream on the side or I would not have noticed. The service was exceptional as always.
