Food was good but service slow.
We’ve been regulars at Charlottes W5 for the past 2 years and still absolutely love it. Fab food, service second to none, and the kind of music that makes you follow the venue on Spotify. Whether you’re looking to work quietly with a coffee in the afternoon or have a special evening to celebrate an occasion, nothing beats Charlottes
We tried the Early Diner menu. Service was excellent and food very tasty. We ate and drank the lot! Good value.
Nice food and ambience. Would go there again.
Only complaint is that the staff don't seem to be great at communicating to each other as when we arrived there was no one to greet us in the restaurant, the person behind the bar who we spoke to failed to tell the restaurant that we had arrived. Not a huge issue, but a bit annoying as I then received an email from Open Table saying that we were a 'no show'.
Chefs went 'off menu' to accommodate our requirements, and our service was excellent - we were well looked after and very patiently so.
This is a newish restaurant in Ealing and its really wonderful space. The main issue is the cost.I think that this restaurant is charging west end prices for suburban high street location. The starter of barbary duck was £9 and was a tiny uninspired plate of food. The fish @19 per head was good but still really overpriced as were the desserts.I think what this restaurant has going for it is the the ambience and space -its been thoughtfully refurbished, its retained the beautiful arch windows and its quiet BUT it is way to pricey.I think I would recommend it for brunch (more reasonably priced ) but dinner or lunch will set you back.
Having been a patron of Charlotte Bistro in Chiswick for many years and loving it, I decided for the first time to try W5 I really wish I hadn’t the food was really bad and the service friendly but not coordinated looks like a nice place for drinks but avoid the food.
The bar was great for pre-dinner drinks - with knowledgeable staff, who were friendly and engaging. Unfortunately, the dining experience was marred by the bland interior, uncomfortable seating and high noise levels. We both ordered the rib-eye steak, recommended by our (rather dour) waiter. The meat was tough and gristly. It came with a few floppy leaves and chunks of tomato, not a great presentation.
Front of house lady was charming and customer-focused.
Lovely food, great service & beautiful ambience
Great experience, I went for a coffee and dessert for my friend's birthday with a group of girls and we were very happy. Nice, cosy atmosphere, lovely place and great staff. Desserts were very nice and coffee was good. It's also nice and quiet to have a chat.
It was my birthday and they arrange a lovely pudding with candles. Service was brilliant and atmosphere was perfect
very friendly staff but the food was really really poor. Jerusalem artichoke starter was rock hard and tasteless and the chips with the steak were raw in the middle. Flat iron chicken had a weird tasting coating - only nice thing was the desert. It is no where near the quality of the other 2 Charlotte's restaurants which is a shame.
Great spot for brunch and cocktails! Highly recommend
I keep going back hoping service will improve. Never does although usually the food is ok when you eventually get it. Today it was just poor. Won’t be going back
Overall experience very good. Waiting staff were pleasant but did not pay particular attention to top up glasses etc nor did they have a good knowledge of the menu. Lovely surroundings with a buzzy atmosphere and music at perfect level for conversation.
Our starters were good but not outstanding. We ordered rib eye steaks as a main and these arrived luke warm, so that garlic butter they were served with barely melted and were a little chewy and sinewy- not the quality I would have expected... sides were decent but again not outstanding. I’ve enjoyed great meals here before so am not sure if this was an off day, but hopefully not a sign of things to come.
Service was great, staff were very efficient and friendly. Food was a bit mixed, steak was very nice, my fish was raw in the middle, a little disappointing for the price.
Really great local venue! Wonderful brunch. Friendly staff
My wife and I had a brilliant time here on a FrIday night. Great buzzy atmosphere, really positive energetic staff who really engaged with us at the bar and in the main restaurant, plus absolutely delicious food, wine and aperitifs. Classic Negroni plus Sidecar with cognac, followed by burrata and artichoke salad, lamb and cod loin with a wonderful Beaujolais Chateau Cambon, the godfather of Gamay, and a nice herbal tea. Brilliant food drink and service all round, plus the nice touch of calling me personally to confirm on the day. Probably, the best restaurant in Ealing :)
Beautiful position. Food very good. Service was inconsistent as were the cocktails. Staff very nice.
I really like Charlottes especially the venue. I am happy the menu changed from sharing plates, however, although really tasty, it’s way too small for the price. It was a very expensive night so would only recommend for special occasions. Staff were great as was service.
Great food and very friendly and customer focused service. The bar manager is especially welcoming and has shared plans to offer more local beers in the future on a rotating basis. Lots of reason to keep going back.
One of the better places in Ealing at the moment - service always good and standard of food is consistently high, but their prices for brunch are way to high. Spent £45 on brunch for 2 including service - just two dishes and some non—alcoholic drinks. Come on Charlottes - come up with some better value for a quick brunch. We were only there for 45 mins max!
Good healthy food (lots of green vegetables). Nice place to bring people.
Food considerably improved since last visit.
Service inattentive and overstretched.
I love this place and go here all the time. On this occasion the food was not as good as usual, the cod had been poached in something verging on unpleasant, but there was already a mix-up with the dish so I didn't want to spoil the rest of our lunch by sending it back.
I really love this restaurant but this time it didn't come up to scratch. Service was friendly, as usual, and of course the atmosphere is top notch.
Went for Sunday brunch - food was fantastic, great service and a great selection. Great local restaurant.
Fairly bland and disappointing food, tiny portions for the price we paid. Overall, underwhelming, I wish more care and attention was given to our meal.
Consistently excellent food and nice atmosphere. service was prompt and excellent - there when wanted but nt in an overbearing way.
So disappointing as an upmarket restaurant is just what Ealing needs and food wise this is in par with its sister places in Ealing Common and Chiswick but badly let down by the poor service. It took over 20 minutes from drinks being ordered to bring served (we were sat opposite the bar!) and well over half an hour for our food to be brought out, that was with us asking twice. It was hard to get anyone’s attention to order further drinks and again we had to chase for these too. They then tried to clear away mains whilst we were still eating them. Everyone was very pleasant but it’s very galling to see staff congregating and seemingly doing nothing when you want their attention, we would have understood if the restaurant had been full but I doubt it was more than half full at any time we were there. The toilets were also filthy.
This was such a shame as we were scanning this as a potential birthday meal venue for a large group but we’ll now look elsewhere - so poor service has cost them a potential 1k in takings.
We went on Friday night with some friends and really like the food and atmosphere. I really enjoyed the home made Bloody Mary!
As always, Charlotte's W5 were great. Service is always friendly; with the staff cheerful and helpful, and the food is always a delight.
What a disappointment - we have enjoyed several meals here before so I booked a table to take some friends. I was really disappointed. The food was very mediocre, the service was quite poor (apart from one lovey young man) I also felt it was really poor value for money. The main courses are reasonable but starters, deserts and sides I feel are overpriced. The Resturant was very quiet for a Saturday night, which makes me think other people feel the same way. The service is sloppy and inattentive and just not up to scratch. Come on Charlottes W5 you need to improve as people are not willing to pay a lot of money for mediocre food, service and ambiance. Ealing needs a high quality restaurant.
Very nice. Great menu and great service. Will be going again.
The quality of the food was disappointing. the rare steak was not rare enough (someone else did get a proper rare steak, I was unlucky). The wine list was not good.
Very tasty Sunday lunch and the portion was plentiful!
Have visited a few times now for a casual coffee stop, for brunch and Sunday lunch and I always enjoy it.
Simple satisfying food excellently cooked. Restaurant is nicely decorated.
Had so many mixed reviews in this restaurant we had been once when it opened and want overly impressed but thought we’d try again. The restaurant was so cold then they switched air con on during our meal, we asked for it to be switched off which our waiter agreed. I had the flat chicken it was tasty but warm not hot, the potato dauphinois was not cooked through the potatoes were still so hard to cut. Our waiter took them away and gave me some chips to be told the potato and chips are on the house?!! I should hope so, I wouldn’t expect to pay for uncooked potatoes and also pay for a side that I didn’t want in the first place. My husbands Caesar salad wasn’t presented well, the Parmesan shavings were do thick, seemed slap dash... There was a horrible burning smell during our meal which when we left I could smell in my clothes when I got home. Waiter from the Chiswick branch seemed ice a little slow bringing our cocktails and wine (only got them when our started arrived!) usually I’d expect to have these before we start eating. Unfortunately ww won’t be going again, shame as could be a lovely place but the food and staff/team didnt seem to gel with each other.... some waitresses looked like they didn’t want to be there.
Air of quality, attentive & friendly staff. The open chef's area is a nice / reassuring touch. Food was very good, cocktails were nice.
Our waiter looked very tired and dull from the beginning. I wanted to be served someone who enjoys his job. Don't worry, I won't come back again.
The food was good, although a little small.
The drinks where not great: we all had bloody Mary's and there was about 50ml of Worcester sauce which meant the drink was totally brown.
The music was weird... There was a musicals soundtrack on.
