Second trip back to charlottes w5. Feel like the waiters and waitresses dont want to be there. Although friendly.
Had the steak, was nice. Would possibly pop in for brunch again but would not recommend for dinner or lunch.
I've been to W5 several times before but this was the first time on a Saturday night.
Friendly service, lovely food & decor, & good atmosphere.
The food was just so bland and such a disappointment.
Charlotte's W5 is one of my favourite places and I'm so pleased that you launched a spot here!
Great evening highly recommend definitely going again!
Great food and great service- relaxed surroundings - perfect for Sunday lunch
I like this restaurant. It has a convenient location, lovely atmosphere and lovely service. The food is good, tasty, but probably overpriced.
Return visit to Charlotte’s W5. Five of us shared small plates as a starter. Asparagus with egg was very tasty as were the burrata and the cuttlefish. Main courses were a bit more mixed. Bavette steak was perfect with fantastic thick chips. The pork dish with raw pear tasted great but there wasn’t very much of it. Gnocchi was very good. We shared 2 desserts one with salted caramel which was very sweet but delicious and a rhubarb sorbet which was a refreshing contrast. House red wine was good. We felt the bill was more than it should have been but overall a good experience.
Food was lovely and the location was great but the service was sadly terrible. We had to ask to be served, for cutlery, to pay with enough staff running around, so was not sure why. I would go again but sit inside as I feel they were much more attentive
My father had the lamb, it was majorly under cooked, he returned it to the kitchen but it didn't taste great after either. And was super chewy. That wasn't fun to eat.
My mother had a pitiful ceaser salad- really pathetic pile of leaves.
I had the flat iron chicken- looked so depressing on my plate- a yellow spread next to the orange mound. The orange mound tasted more like washing up liquid.
Starters were perfect though- really enjoyed those.
I prefer the previous menu set-up. It was different and super tasty. And it's hard to believe the above 3 main dishes were from same kitchen.
We do really like it at Charlottes W5, the food is really tasty, but we find it quite expensive...all pints cost £6ish and upwards. £9.50 for two asparagus tips and an egg. The sides seem to have shrunk since we were last there. Also, you can tell where the ingredients have been pre-prepped and left in the fridge as they come out too cold. We will still go back, but sadly not on a regular basis.
I love the new menu at Charlotte's W5. The food is delicious with a good range of fish dishes. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff attentive and friendly. This is our new local favourite and being able to sit outside in nice weather is a definite plus!! Highly recommend it.
Not my first time here: I like the place. BUT -
- had booked for 5 but "your" table was laid for 4
- service is slow
- being charged another £2.50 for more Béarnaise sauce as there wasn't enough first time round is a bit cheeky, as is
- being charged £3 for some bread to mop up some sauce
Don't get me wrong - the food i9s good
Great lunch best chicken ceaser salad ever. Attentive service wonderful location
Good quality ingredients makes for a good brunch. The service can be a bit nonchalant, but efficient enough.
Nice decor and good location in Ealing.
£22 steak full of gristle and fat
6 stalks of broccoli cost £4.50 - though were very tasty!
Slow service - had to go to bar myself to get refills as I could't get a waitron's attention
Hats off to the manager who did his best to compensate for what we felt was a disappointing evening
Food as always was good but the service was a bit hit and miss - the waiter was rather gruff and we had to chase up food. It’s a shame as food is fab but I alway find service a bit off
We have been to W5 (and other Charlotte's Restaurants) many times in the past - indeed we were invited to the W5 opening. Unfortunately we have had a couple of poor experiences with the food at W5 and had all but given up. We decided to try again on Monday for Lunch having had an emailed offer of a set lunch, however we were told this was not available on that day...
We persevered and ordered anyway. Overall the food was OK but not as good as expected. The asparagus starter was completely unseasoned. The cured trout tasted good but the portion was tiny. The Pollock seemed to be accompanied by salt and vinegar crisps rather than baked potato skins. The Caesar salad tasted fine but the 'additional' chicken, avocado and bacon were a bit stingy given the additional cost to an already expensive salad. The Triple cooked chips were the highlight.
Service was slow - both from the kitchen and from the bar - including drinks orders only half filled - with no apology.
Overall this was a bit of a let down and given the amount of competition in the area we are not likely to go back - a real shame for us as we have supported Charlotte's for many years
Came here about a year ago and loved it- however Slightly smaller portion than last time and our croissant was way overdone so disappointing breakfast for £36!
We arrived there promptly for 11. The waitress took out drink and food order, repeated it twice back to us, and went off. More than 20 mins later we realised we still hadn't been given our drinks. We informed our waitress who apologised and brought them to us. Our food eventually arrived, except they were the wrong order. So we had to send the food back, our right orders came, except of course the food was cold for some reason. By this point we gave up, ate the food, paid and left. Not planning to come back, very disappointed.
Very good service. Especially from the assistant manager Jason and team.
Great food and service as always. Lovely ambience and a great place to meet up with friends
We were hideously late for our reservation, but the staff were wonderfully accommodating and still had our table waiting for us. Being so late meant we had to eat very quickly as we were due at the theatre. We were helped to choose the speedier dishes on the menu - I’ve never seen delicious food appear so quickly! We were then pointed in the direction of the theatre and sped on our way! Totally brilliant experience - many thanks!
Enjoyed a catch up with old friends here for a supper after work. I think the negative comments about slow service have been noted as the service we received was extremely good. We felt well looked after, our waiter recommended starters and cocktails and was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu generally. Would definitely recommend & return.
Slow, poor service, time dragging. Staff unable to answer questions about food or drinks without checking.
Having had great experiences at the other two Charlottes gave W3 a try. Had to ask to move table as the speaker was directly above us where we were first seated and it was a bit loud. They were happy to relocate us and we had some lovely focaccia with artichoke dip as we chose our meals. Starters of Wye Valley Asparagus and La Latteria Burrata tasted good, and the duck as main course was also good. Deep Fried ricotta Gnocchi was reported as being tasteless and very disappointing. Highlight for everyone was the dauphinoise potatoes which were some of the best we had tasted. The chocolate mouse with salted caramel for pudding was heavy and the flavours were not well balanced and it was not much enjoyed. One cheese does not a cheeseboard make!. There was a very limited bottle beer selection and the only non alcoholic beer option was cider. Service was good as was the wine. If we had chosen differently for puddings we may have come away with a different experience but as an overview we did not much like the ambiance of W5 and although the food was good it was not great. We have never had anything that we thought was not great at the other Charlotte places so will be returning to our usual haunts and leave W5 to those who enjoy the vibe.
Lovely atmosphere, really busy so I would book in advance if going again. Deco lovely and the food was great. The only downside was the food took quite a long time to arrive (about 30 mins!). Otherwise the place and the experience was great!
Went there for a birthday meal as im a regular. Quickly seated by the kitchen and had a good time. Slight mix up with the starters but all in all great service.
Nice atmosphere for a dinner with girl friends. Good service and menu choice
Average food and very poor service. We needed to move tables because it was unstable. No one helped us with our drinks or bread etc. high end prices with low end service.
Charlottes is a must, food and service is outstanding, one of my favourite places to dine out!
Excellent staff that always makes sure the customers are happy.
We usually visit Charlotte's Place but as it is shut at the moment thought we'd give W5 a go. Food was excellent- better than expected. Service was less so - not bad but not as attentive or accomplished as we'd expect for somewhere of this price/quality.
As always, great food and surroundings! The lunch menu is such good value!
They had run out several dishes and we were only informed after we had ordered waitress didn’t seem to be very aware of what was going on
Overall I had a lovely time with good company, though I have been before and have had much better service, slightly disappointing that it took 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive after asking 3 different members of staff if they were able to take our order and being snapped at by the waitresses who said she was too busy to help..... when they did arrive they were wrong but perhaps they were having an off day? The drinks were quickly sorted by a very cheery bar tender. Overall a lovely place to go - but for a not particularly busy evening with many members of staff on, slightly disappointing when bringing new friends along based on my recommendation....
Great food and lovely setting!
Absolutely lovely place in a quiet side road of Dicken's Yard. Very good quality food and the atmosphere outside on the first sunny day of the year was superb! Lovely cocktails, and a good value dinner menu if you arrive before 7pm.
Not bad, but I find it too expensive for what it is.
Food as always is great however also always tends to be poor service
This was our fourth and final visit here. Every time we have been the experience has been worse. Due to Charlotte's Place having to close for a while our booking was moved here (party of 7) and it was the worst experience we have had there yet. Three of the seven meals were cold (roast beef dinner - how can you get that wrong?!) and when asked to be reheated they came back equally cold and on cold plates. The waiter did his best in a bad situation and the manager handled it as best as was possible, agreeing there would be no charge, however this was a family afternoon out ruined as we had nowhere else to go at such short notice; people had travelled from the other side of the country for this. We will continue to visit Charlotte's Place when it reopens as their food and service are perfect. Stick to just cocktails, W5, as that's something they do do well.
