This place is very good for brunches, the service on a Sunday evening though is very slow e.g. reminding them for a menu. Perhaps it is a one off as normally v good.
We've been to Charlotte's W5 a few times which says something; the front of house is always very friendly and in general the food is very good. I would say on this visit that food was not quite as good as previous visits - the crab rarebit was disappointingly close to crab-paste on toast for example; we had to chase for the sour dough that was supposed to come with the tomato salad and it did not really become part of the dish with the cubes simply sprinkled on top. The summer fruits Eton Mess was disappointing - the meringue was not properly mixed with cream. However the pulled lamb starter was excellent; the roast potatoes with the Sunday roast were as good as they get. So a bit mixed this time and we look forward Charlotte's Place re-opening..our favourite of the group!
I was looking for somewhere in Ealing to go for Sunday Brunch. I booked for 1230 but we were running late but they did keep our table for us. The decor and ambience was great. Staff were polite and friendly however we need need to wait a while to get someone’s attention to pay. The food for the price was mediocre for brunch. I regretted not getting the Sunday roast which I would get if visiting again. I would visit again.
The Duty Manager was very helpful in accommodating my crutches and in finding a table where I could sit comfortably and rest my leg on a banquette seat.
The service was fine but the staff were a little over stretched although friendly. One order was forgotten and our steaks which we ordered rare came quite well done. Everything was put right but it disrupted the meal. The choice of starters was bizarre, crab meat rarebit, was unpleasant. Fries with our steak already £24 were an additional £4.50 and spices greens 7 pieces of cabbage with chilli oil were similarly priced just silly things that irritate and take away from what could be a really cool place to hang out.
Food was good, service requires a little attention as had to request multiple times to bring items. Chocolate mousse was amazing !
Amazing service as always, really great food and atmosphere and good value for money.
We were quite disappointed to be able to have the group menu with very limited options. We were a table of 9, with one vegan who had one option only for each course. We asked for a dark rum and coke and received a clear rum. There were no sugar free mixers so our diabetic guest had to have water all night. Our designated waiter dragged out the courses hoping we would buy more drinks, I had to ask for the main course as we had to wait for an hour. When the bill came we had been charged extra for dessert, when it had not been made clear that the group menu was for two courses. It was my daughters 21st birthday so we said nothing as we didn’t want to ruin her evening. The service charge in our bill was £60, way too much for what we received and the main course after waiting an hour was barely warm. None of us wanted to send our food back in case it took another 30 minutes to get it back. None of us will be going back. Which is a same as we’ve all been to Charlotte’s Place and loved it.
2nd time recently we have been to W5 and once again it didn't disappoint. Food was excellent and keenly priced. Very pleasant.
The roast dinner was one of the best I had, besides from the burnt Yorkshire pudding everything else was perfect! The staff were friendly and the service was speedy. Would definitely go again.
It's a beautiful restaurant in a good location but the seating in the conservatory area is extremely uncomfortable .
Most of our meals were of good quality but one in our party had a steak and found it very tough .
The waiting staff were very friendly and efficient.
Lovely restaurant, great atmosphere and very attentative staff
This is the third time I’ve been and don’t think I’ll be going back. Every time I’ve had an issue with poor service, unfortunately thought it’s a one off but it has repeatedly been poor.
On our last occasion the waiter had no manners when asking if we were ready to place our orders, he forgot to add changes we mentioned so the food arrived wrong. The food was so late that we knew they had forgotten about our order, our drink and food went back twice as it was incorrect and to top it off after waiting 15 minutes for our bill they presented us the wrong one.
It is a lovely place, but we were very disappointed in the fact I requested a table for 2 by the water as it was my husband's birthday when booking, but when we arrived we were seated at a table for 4 in the furthest corner away from the water. When I told them I had put a special request in , they said it was the best table available.
We were then asked when our other two guests were arriving and I told them I had booked a table only for 2. They looked puzzled. We then asked as it is only two is there a better table and we were told there wasn't. We were then told to move to a table for two beside us as we couldn't be seated at a table for four. 15 minutes later another couple arrived and were seated at a better table by the water.
We really wren't impressed with how we were treated. I had stated it was a special occasion and they really couldn't have cared less. If I knew we we going to have such a bad table, I would have arranged to go somewhere else for lunch.
The food was quite nice, but we won't be hurrying back there any time soon, which is a shame, because we really wanted to love the restaurant, but instead we came out really disappointed.
The food was excellent if a little overpriced. Wine was good value. Meet and greet was a little strained as the waiter struggled to find the booking and no table had been reserved for us. Booking was there as you had called me earlier in the day to confirm. Wine glass had to be changed as it was dirty. But overall the meal was very good and we had a nice evening. Table server was also really good. Will come back for sure.
Fantastic server, great customer service would definitely recommend
Our starters and mains were good, but the meal was let down by very poor dessert. Service was excellent - friendly, quick and discreet. Also it was lovely to be given complimentary glass of prosecco for our anniversary. We will definitely go back to Charlottes Place, although I think it is quite expensive.
Food was delicious. Staff and management were fantastic despite our group drinking a lot and being a little bit difficult at times! Well done Charlotte’s W5 for putting up with us and being absolute professionals.
It’s a bit pricey here but Ealing Broadway really needed a top quality restaurant. Will definitely go here again.
It is a nice location and a good set out. I was expecting something better than the chain restaurants in the rest of Ealing but the food was just ok. Neither my first nor my second choice was available (not necessarily a bad thing). The staff were pleasant and welcoming, even if I was the waiters' 'mate'. On the bar was a huge pile of used glasses that kept getting bigger. Overall the food, service and the used glasses were probably not what the designers (or owners) have in mind and not what I expected.
A nice relaxing birthday dinner sitting outside on a hot evening
Love charlottes and we visit from NW London. The bar staff came over to our table to recommend what gin to try - a real nice touch. Main meals were lovely and my fish was excellent. Only downside was dessert. Cheesecake and salted caramel mouse crumble both served in drinking glasses. Not worth the cost and poor presentation
Excellent, would definitely recommend

We had a lovely, cosy couples meal at W5 on Saturday night. Great atmosphere, good food and excellent table service. We’re already regulars and will definitely come again!
Usually good. Staff made the difference this visit.
I eat in Charlotte's W5 whenever I am staying in west London, and it is a terrific restaurant in a great location. The outdoor area is great, the food is always very , very good, and service is friendly and knowledgeable.
Good food - unusual location but interesting
Definitely go again
Set lunch v gvood value
Loved the vegetarian food. Someone with some imagination must be working in the kitchen! :) Fresh seasonal starters and mains. We had the roasted aubergine with goats curd and the burrata with courgette for starters. Mains: ricotta fritters with summer veg and mustard glazed cauliflower with broccoli and cheese. Amazing! It’s a lovely restaurant/ bar. Staff are really friendly although only negative comment was that it was quite hard to see anyone around to catch their eye outside of the standard order being taken and food delivered. Food and drink were all delivered in a timely manner though. Going back again very soon!
My wife and I booked the same day as we had only managed to secure a babysitter at the last minute to go out and celebrate our anniversary. We were pleased to get the booking as we has wanted to go to this restaurant for some time. When we arrived we were offered a table outside but would have potentially meant sharing with others so we took a booth in the bar area. Seats high and & feet have to rest on footrest under table. There was no acknowledgement that we had booked for our anniversary, despite me flagging on booking.
Waiter was friendly, but new, and he knew nothing of any of the cocktails when we asked for recommendations. He tried to bluff it when he should have asked the bartender, which I eventually did. Drinks arrived and we ended up chatting across to the bar to a lovely couple who had just dropped in for drinks.
Then we waited. We were hungry but not ready to order and wanted to order bread and a dip. I finally managed to flag a waitress down and ask her to order for us. About 10 or more minutes later our waiter then asked if we were ready to order and I said we had ordered the bread. He disappeared. Bread eventually arrived another 10 minutes later.
We then ordered food and wine. I chose a Hungarian wine to go with our food choices at around £36. The waiter came back and said that wine was sold out but he recommended another red at almost £60! I said that was a bit cheeky and ordered a similarly priced red from the list. Starters were aubergine for my wife (tasted OK apparently but a bit of a brown mush) and sea trout for me (yummy but v small portion). Mains of rib-eye steak (melt in the mouth medium rare deliciousness) and pork (also lovely according to my wife). Chips were fantastic, triple cooked chunky and crisp outside, soft inside. Seasonal greens a bit of a damp mush though.
Main course did arrive very quickly after starter - a bit of delay would have been nice. We were out for a relaxing night without kids for the first time in ages.
We've been here - and to Charlotte's Place and Bistro - many times; the Charlotte's group rarely disappoints. One or two hiccups with our starters ( our server was new ), but nothing catastrophic and the problems were easily and quickly rectified. It remains our favourite eating and cocktail spot in Ealing.
I’ve been here a number of times now and the venue is lovely but every single time I’ve been without fail the service is extremely poor. We waited more than 20mins just to be acknowledged at our table. No cutlery, no drinks order taken, nothing. We then waited another 20mins for them to come back and take our food order. All the staff seem a bit all over the place. In the end I got fed up of waiting to pay the bill and finally just walked over to pay it on departure. Such a shame.
We had a lovely brunch with my friend on Sunday, the staff is very friendly and nice and the food was really good. The area is very quiet too, it doesn't feel like being in London. Just a bit annoying that they are cashless. But overall I recommend this place :)
A great hidden gem in Ealing with a lovely Brunch menu. Super friendly staff too!
W5 never fails to deliver. Relaxed atmosphere with great service and fantastic food
Another great visit to Charlotte’s W 5 for lunch with a friend.
I ordered the Caesar salad which is a favourite. The recipe has recently changed at Charlotte’s and now includes a crispy egg, which I was not keen on at the last visit. So asked for a normal poached egg and with the usual lovely service my archer was amended with no argument.
I often ask for some variation from the menu as I am a bit fussy, and it is never any problem, which is not the same in many restaurants, so thank you Charlotte’s.
Even though I'd go again because it is a nice looking place, i do feel when writing this that I really didn't think it lived up to it's potential. On the positive side the food waiter was great (bar tender awful - left us waiting for far too long and obviously doesn't like working with the public!): friendly and not too over bearing. But something's just not quite there with the food. It lacked taste or something and to be honest you can get better steaks for less money in most of the chain restaurants. On the whole, it's 'alright' but if you're a foodie then you may be disappointed.
Food average and overpriced, music and staff over bearing, drinks were good, doesn’t know what it wants to be (bar / bistro / cafe / restaurant). Wouldn’t recommend.
Second trip back to charlottes w5. Feel like the waiters and waitresses dont want to be there. Although friendly.
Had the steak, was nice. Would possibly pop in for brunch again but would not recommend for dinner or lunch.
I've been to W5 several times before but this was the first time on a Saturday night.
Friendly service, lovely food & decor, & good atmosphere.
The food was just so bland and such a disappointment.
Charlotte's W5 is one of my favourite places and I'm so pleased that you launched a spot here!
