Having booked online, no choice was available to select to dine inside or in the garden. we We were lucky, for as it was a Monday we were offered the choice of the Chapel, the Court Yard or the garden.
We chose the garden, although it did look rather barren.
Otherwise, the food and service was excellent.
We ordered 2 roast beef meals, it was a sunday so we fancied a roast. We requested the meat was not pink but it arrived looking raw and fleshy. Annoying as we had requested it well done. The meat went back and was cooked longer. The roast potatoes were awful, worse than cheap frozen roast potatoes. The vegetables were nice but the yorkshire pudding was over cooked. We will not go back for a roast dinner here! We was offered free deserts after we complained which we declined. We was refunded for one of our meals as a goodwill gesture. The staff were friendly and helpful though....but overall it wasn't a great experience sadly.
Eaten here before and never disappointed. The staff are really friendly and do all they can to make your visit pleasurable. The food as always was good and we enjoyed our visit, we shall return soon
A good evening at inside the church room. Service very good The quality of the South African white wine was not fantastic. Food overall good. Chunky chips were very small and not what we were expecting. Deserts not brilliant.
Lovely afternoon! It was really busy but that didn’t phase the staff, they were brilliant. Laura was especially helpful. Lovely food. Highly recommend
Very pleased especially our waitress, couldn’t have been nicer, polite, attentive and generally cheerful
The food was excellent and had no complaints. Great service and atmosphere.
Definitely going again in the future
Waited 2 hours for our food which when it arrived did not meet dietary requirements and wasn’t cooked properly
When we arrived for our lunch yesterday I was so so disappointed to see that the garden was being dug up and a mini jcb was being used which as you can imagine was extremely loud. Obviously work needs to be carried out but I thought it very discourteous that we had not been informed about this and given the chance to book elsewhere. We were meeting friends and I had told them about the lovely garden we would be sitting in to have our lunch. Instead we sat inside, I was offered out the front but in no way would that have been relaxing, with the door open so we could hear all the noise from the jcb and workmen. Extremely disappointed that we were not told in advance about this!
The staff were very friendly and anxious to please. Prices seem to have increased considerably since before Covid and whilst I’m happy to pay more to help the hospitality industry recover, some of the prices were a little too high. Also the quality of the fish and chips (one of our favourites and the main reason for choosing this venue) wasn’t as good. The courtyard is a lovely setting on a sunny day.
Brilliant…if only there were more parking options
Great food and service as usual. Highly recommend
Good food in a pleasant surrounding. The service was efficient and friendly and we enjoyed our meal.
I have been a regular visitor in the past. This was to be a reunion following the lockdown. We were given a table outside the front door on the road as the weather was lovely. However the lovely garden eating area was being redesigned into what we believe to be a decking area. It was very noisy from the WIP. Surely there might have been a better time to do these alterations.
Over all good but desserts just a little expensive.
It's a shame that we couldn't sit in the garden, as it was being refurbished.
I used to always have an omelette during the lunchtime visit, but it wasn't on the menu now. Service was good, nice friendly girls, but we sat next to the busy ! road which wasn't ideal, as this was our first visit here for over a year, due to covid and lockdown. Hope things will return to normal soon, for your sake and ours!
Will come soon again.
Very nice lunch outside , a bit noisy with the garden refurbishment, but the lovely weather made up for that.
Our waitress , Maddy , was very helpful and informative
Always good value and given what they had to go through they id an excellent job
We didn’t eat other than bar snacks.
Everything was clean and service with very attentive
It's a lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Our meals took about 75 minutes to arrive, but it was very busy and we weren't in a rush.
Absolutely amazing service and the food was unbelievable! Will definitely be coming several more times!!
WE 4 had a very enjoyable evening Good company good food good ambiance
Fantastic evening, brilliant service from a lovely team. Delicious food had by all will be back very soon
This was our second visit to The Chaser Inn. The atmosphere is great especially sitting outside. The surroundings are amazing. Food was good, not outstanding for prices. But you pay for the whole experience as the area with the church in the background and beautiful fields is stunning. Definitely will go back. Fish and chips was the best dish between 5 of us.
Well managed seating out in marque - but the amount of barking dogs spoiled the ambience !!
Great food, felt a bit rushed, they were busy but it felt like they needed our table.
This was our first time out for a long time celebrating my husbands new job. There are some really great places to sit but unfortunately we were in a side room with one other family and it had more of a bar atmosphere and was quite dingy and not very special. When visiting the loo we had seating envy but just the luck of the draw I guess. Most of the meals were good except mine. Unfortunately no one checked on us during our meal otherwise I would have mentioned it then (service was great apart from that though) the sauce on my chicken had such an overpowering peppery taste that it spoilt the meal for me. It wasn’t inedible but not very enjoyable. I did mention it when the waiter came to collect the plates and my comment was passed on to the chef who agreed with my complaint. I was given a free dessert in compensation. So this was dealt with fairly but I was surprised that the chef hadn’t tasted the sauce before serving it. My family had an enjoyable evening overall but we won’t be returning in a hurry. I was expecting the high prices but I don’t think the standard and quality delivered matches the cost. Punching above it’s weight in my opinion.
Lovely place fantastic service. Waiters polite and outstanding. Food a bit lacking, packet french fries and vegan burger tasted like cardboard, no seasoning and bland. Costly for what I had. Nevertheless, I would return and recommend as everything else was great. Service and ambience means so much and willing to overlook food shortcomings.
Absolutely great, really nice food, quick service
I've always loved the Chaser Inn and once again we had a lovely late lunch in the garden. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the vegan burger with sweet potato fries was delish!
Poor food portions, kids meal was actually bigger and better than the adult portion. Yet half the price. Only 1 sausage more and no peas unlike the kids meal. Waited nearly an hour for food. Waitress was lovely. Wont be going back
The 3 starters we ordered were unavailable, although we were not informed of this at the time when our orders were taken.
Sparkling Italian wine we were served was flat.
Poor service, extremely slow.
Very busy when we arrived and we were warned that there was a long wait for food. Waitresses were very helpful, allowing us to move from our original table in the gazebo to a garden table when it became free. Lovely food and not too long a wait. Will definitely return!
Despite pre-booking we ordered and waited over an hour for our food which never materialised. We were continually promised that it would arrive soon but we had to leave without eating as we had a previous appointment. On a Wednesday lunch time in a barely half full pub we expected better. Really spoiled our day's walking. Staff were polite but poor service for a posh looking place which couldn't deliver basic pub grub at quite high prices.
Delicious food, friendly efficient staff. New one way system worked well.
Lovely pub in a stunning setting. Very friendly staff. Will book again
We enjoyed our visit and meal. We had forgotten how expensive it is to eat out. The tortillas are lovely, the fish and chips were nice, but underwhelming for the cost, and the burger rather great (per our 12 year old). Staff were attentive, although it took a little while to get our order, but they were especially keen with blankets and water bottles after the first lovely sunny day in a while.
My burger was a bit tough which I thought unusual, perhaps it had been reheated?
Came here with my friend bank holiday Monday. It’s a beautiful place great atmosphere food is great. We had a starter then we did wait quite a while for our main but to be quiet honest we understand why as it was very busy and considering situation about getting back into service again we were ok waiting. All the staff we had contact with were very helpful and accommodating and constantly apologetic about our waiting time
