The food is sooooo good
I will definitely go back
This is always my go to spot and I have always received great service and food from this establishment. Friday was a disappointing experience for me as anything I ordered was never received I have been coming here for years and never never never received the service that I received on Friday.
My husband and I had reservations for two for Valentine's Day. We started with the Citrus Island Mule, for our appetizers the beef cocktail patties and dip, and for our entrees we had the Rasta Pasta and the Ravioli with the Spicy Jerk Sauce. The food was delicious! But the service was not so good. When we walked through the front door, there was no one to greet us. Several waitresses came to the front to perhaps close out tickets, but no one said, "Welcome, someone will be with you in a moment". After several minutes and people crowding the front door, someone came up and greeted us and took names and asked for those that had reservations. Once we were finally seated, no one came to the table to say hello and take our drink order. The Hostess passed by and asked if anyone been to our table, we said no. So, the Hostess took our drink and appetizer order. After that our waitress came by to ask for our drink order which we explained that the Hostess already took our order. Well, it looked like perhaps they were short staff for the night because we did see the Waiters/Waitresses constantly working, but apparently it was to many customers to handle appropriately. But, all in all, the food was excellent.
Considering that my wife is Trinidadian, I figured this would be a cool spot to take her to. We loved everything from the appetizers to the entrees including the drinks.
I have been here twice. The food has been AMAZING each time! I will definitely be back!
The meal was delicious - but took longer than expected with not much of a crowd. The oxtail are thinly sliced (now) - a difference than the meaty bones of 'days gone by.' With the rising price of the meal, the oxtail amount seemed sparse. Just can't beat the excellent service and the professional manner of staff. Love the updated atmosphere - and the ability to see the Chef 'present' during the evening. Chef Rob's has outlasted many restaurants in the Parkside Shopping Center...and I enjoy seeing the restaurant's success.
Was greeted pleasantly. My food, however, was not pleasant. My jerk wings were a little burnt, the server forgot she had already taken our order and came to take it again. My order was incorrect and to make matters worse my blackened salmon was dry and charred. The cabbage was good but I had ordered a side of stir fried veggies not cabbage. My greens were tangy, likely due to a lot of vinegar. Just not the dining experience I expected.
The food was very good and the service was great. The low score was because the establishment serves as a hookah lounge and allows smoking indoors in the dining area. I was unaware and may have missed that in the description on Open Table when I booked the reservation. There were families there with very young children (some with babies). I would not recommend this restaurant if you oppose smoking indoors or smoking in general.
I only go for the food. The service is mediocre, but the oxtail is fantastic.
Great food and company. Will definitely visit again.
Celebrated my best friend birthday. Had a dinner party for him there. Everything was great form the service to the food.
1st our waitress, Kayla was awesome! When I lived in Atlanta, Chef Robs was my favorite place to go because of the food and when he opened the other side it was great. I've been back several times since moving to DC and the food was great! But this time it wasnt. My husbands salmon was raw and the seafood pasta wasnt the same. I was disappointed as I always brag about his place. Not this time. Probably wont be back.
This was my third time here. The food was not like past visits. I ordered the jerk wings which I order each time. They had a burnt taste. I was very disappointed. The lady next to order the same thing as shared the same sentiments. I don’t know if the number of there affected the quality of food but I was very disappointed. My overall experience was good, I was there to attend a comedy show.
The wait staff was very friendly & helpful. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
I chose this as our girlfriends monthly get together ...
The food was awesome and I will return...
Overall the food was good. However, the rice/peas portion was tiny and the Macaroni & cheese was bland.
Although we had to wait a while for service, the food was amazing and I would absolutely go there over and over again!
The food was amazing!! The lounge area was so chill and laud back. I will recommend this place!
The food and the service was excellent as always 👌
Some of the oxtails were cold. The rum cake was your regular pound cake.
The owner was nice nice and helpful the young people working there are vary nice comedy show was good I will be back o the food was soooooo good
The food is great- very tasty, the service could be a little better but it was good enough. Lively atmosphere and convenient location.
The music selection was good but it was extremely loud. I could hardly hear what my date was saying. The food and drinks are really good. I got the curry chicken, Kingston 11 to drink and the rum bundt cake for desert and had no complaints!
We were told that all of the food was made fresh so It took a while for our food to come... More like 30 minutes, but when the food came it was savory and delicious. I reccomend the Red Snapper and Mac and cheese. They also have a fresh made ginger beer that was very delicious.
Great experience always been my number one go to spot the owner/chef makes the experience worth your money and has been doing this for years!!!!
A+ All Around!!!!
Another amazing birthday dinner and party in the books.
Great customer service, amazing daily drink specials, and delicious food.
ok. i just left your establishment. beautiful place,however... i called my order in at 12:50 pm... AND Im JUST getting my food. the bartender said it was because they were making plantains for me,but 5 people were able to get their food before me. i LOVED the restaurant, but, may never order another to go order ever. i was told that my order would be done in 10 minutes at 12:50 and its 2:30pm and i had to eat my food while driving back to work.... good #notgood
The server was attentive. The Jerk Wings was flavorful but burned. Garlic Fries was delicious. Curry Goat was okay. Smooth Sippers Jamaican Martini was super sweet.
Great food service a little bit “unfriendly”! My waitress seemed as if my family and I was a bother to her the entire experience! :/ if you don’t like your job don’t do it ! Maybe I just caught the resturant at a bad time to dine in ! The music was great on the other hand and the food outstanding !! Hats off to the chef! Worth the wait
Service could have been better.
The food is always consistently AMAZING and the staff is the BEST!
Great 50th Birthday experience for my Brother who was visiting with his wife from Alabama. We will definitely be back! Everything was very enjoyable!
amazing, delicious, great drinks. my favorite carribean spot this far. I'll be back again and again 👍👍👍
We had reservations but couldn't even get in the door. Music was so loud it could be heard in the parking lot. No one was at the front to check us in. Can't comment on the food.
We went with a group of 10. They had our table ready. The food and service were great. The group enjoyed it and will definitely return.
The service wasn’t good. The server was slow and the drinks were nasty. The rum punch tasted like bloody Mary’s. And we could t even drink it. The amaretto sour tasted like it had caramel flavoring in it. So disappointed with everything! It was dead in there. I support black business but this Establishment I can’t come back too.
The food at Chef Rob is to die for. Never disappointed whether dinning in or out. I give them 100 stars if that’s possible
Food was good but the prices are ridiculous. $10 for a shot?! $3 for bottled water?! No cups of water but a cup of ice is free?! I’m confused. The DJ played some old school songs but I wouldn’t recommend just for that
Visiting Chef Rob's Caribbean Cafe website set my expectations high. Based on the pictures and pricing, I expected much more elevated decor. The appearance was a big letdown, but the tables aren't set too close together and there's lots of seating. The food, on the other hand, was excellent (and that's really the reason to go here). I had the blackened chicken with coconut rice and plantains and my friend had the chicken curry. We both loved our meals. The portions are large and there was plenty to take home to enjoy again. I definitely recommend - just don't expect much from the decor (think very casual dining).
