Convenient to the Grand Opera House. Would eat there again.
It was one of the few things open in the area.
We had a meal at Chelsea's prior to a show at The Grand. The food was good. Not a ton of options if you are a vegan, but I got the Beyond burger and it was good. My husband really enjoyed his brisket sandwich. Service was a little slow, but it really was only because it was jam packed. We weren't the only people stopping in before the show. Our server was really nice. I highly recommend making reservations for weekend nights. They have a huge beer menu! There were several sour options. That made me really happy. I'll definitely have dinner there again.
Good selection of draft beer, huge selection of bottled. Wings were terrific, jumbo size & meaty. The buffalo was very tasty, not burning hot just for flavor, nicely spiced. Pizza was okay - wished the crust had more taste. Service was excellent, Amber was busy but we were well attended.
As I wrote last week, Chelsea Tavern is a great place for a pre-shoe meal and right across the street from The Grand. We were seated promptly and our server, Ayesha, was very good.
Food was good. We had the crab dip and a margarita pizza, both were yummy.
Had a Moscow mule which was very good.
Very crowded with a HIGH noise level. Conversation was difficult. The wait staff tried to keep up but was unable to meet the demand. Drink server ended up taking our order, delivering the order, and giving the check. Food was good, given the circumstances. We will definitely try again since it's very convenient to the Grand Theater.
I’ve only been when there’s something at the Grand and being across the street it’s always packed with people going to a show. I say that because I give them a pass of the minor things be us of being slammed all at once.
Anyway it wasn’t too noisy and the waitress was friendly and trying hard. However, the beers were always to the rim so that she couldn’t carry them without making a mess. That’s just bad bartending. The menu is good and the prices fine. The honey chipotle wings were fabulous! However, the blacked ribeye medium rare was tougher than leather and the roll was way too much bread. All I could taste was bread and leather.
We had reservations before a show at the Grand and were seated right away. It got very busy and servers were moving fast. Amber provided very good service and we finished with time to spare. The food here is always good and beer selection is excellent. We plan to attend for another pre-show dinner next week.
Great place to eat before the going to the Grsnd
Slow, indifferent service. Food is just ok. I only go when attending a concert across the street at the Grand.
Location was great. We were going to the Wilmington Opera House for a show and had dinner at The Chelsea which is directly across the street. The service was exceptional - personal and professional. We had two of the specials for the evening - crab cakes with butternut risotto and stuffed chicken breasts. Delicious!!!! Would hightly recommend dining at the Chelsea Tavern.
I had the breakfast steak with potatoes. My son had the Pastromi hash. Both were excellent. We also had the $5.00 Bloody Mary bar.
Whenever we see a show at the Queen or the Grand, we have dinner and cocktails at Chelsea Tavern. Great place!
It was okay. The waitress was so busy but, there was barely anyone in there. I was expecting to like it more than I did. I don’t think we will return. Although the fries were very good.
As always, food was delicious, service was great.
The chicken breast on the sandwich I ordered was not thoroughly cooked.
Great service and good food
19 year Anniversary
Great selection of beers and a very solid bar menu. Our large group was well taken care of and food was good.
Large section of beers, outstanding service and good food.
Coffee was great. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. Omelet and egg pie were cold and not tasty. Crab cake sandwiches were ok. Sides (potatoes) were not edible-cold and chewy. Restrooms were awful.
The food choices are unique and amazing. I would like to see more savory vegetarian options. Yum
Great food, great value, but despite it being very empty on a Wednesday, night, there wasn't a lot of attention paid to our table by the server.
Our table was ready, service was very good, menu options were adequate and everyone enjoyed their selections. There was a male team of 25-30 people that made the noise level a bit more than "energetic"
Great food. Good place for a business meeting
We had a nice brunch on the patio, which was secluded away from the street. The area is covered, and we enjoyed the classic rock music and still were able to have easy conversation. Everyone enjoyed cocktails or beer and the many brunch choices. It would have been nice to have more salad choices other than Caesar (especially the beer salad which is always great) and another vegetarian choice than the omelet that wasn’t a sandwich.
atmosphere is nice, food was good, service was friendly, but slow. We did have a larger party of 10, but the resturant was less than half full and it took a very long time for our meals to be served. Not the server's fault I realize.
Wonderful food, beer and service as always!
Excellent tavern choice. Good service. Fun enviornment.
We had excellent food and service at Chelsea Tavern. The prix fix dinner had generous portions of the charcuterie (wonderful smoked duck and other meats), pork loin with spinach and sweet potatoes, and snickers pie with Woodside Dairy ice cream. The pork was tender and moist (the best we have tried in past year +). The California Reuben was very good, and the beet salad was just as good as in the past. We would have liked a few browns, porters, or scotch ales on tap list.
we go to Chelsea before performances of Delaware Symphony since it is across the street. it is convenient and food and service are good and reasonably priced.
Chelsea Tavern is always a great experience. Great food, friendly staff and good service.
We went for mother's day brunch, and everything was Fantastic! Parking is the only tough part about this place, but I heard that depending where you park, they can add a credit to your bill
I had two meals at Chelsea Tavern when visiting Wilmington. Dinner was a much better contender than brunch, but I'd recommend this spot for both meal-types.
At dinner, we had the pulled pork sandwich and Buffalo wings. Both were outstanding. Definitely splurge and have the trio fries - the aioli was absolutely delicious, with just enough kick. Our friends loved their entrees as well.
At brunch, we had to have a do-over on two of our entrees, but it was Mother's Day, so they were swamped. They were really nice about it. My husband's eggs benedict were overdone, and my omelette was missing ingredients. The coffee was terrible :) but we didn't complain, because the mimosas were delightful.
The real standout at this place is the fantastic service. The place has a chill vibe, and the staff were all really nice! Even though this is billed as a "gastropub", and the food really IS way better than your standard pub grub - there isn't any attitude about it. Highly recommended for a relaxed meal of delicious food.
Great place however the service was a little off. The fries were really oily; that may be by design though. My beer sat at the bar for almost twenty minutes while the staff was standing next to it. The server also spilled it on the way over without topping it off. If you’re a beer drinker, you know what I mean. Otherwise, I would still recommend this place. Seems like the staff was just having an off day.
We love the breakfast nachos! Brunch is always fantastic!
Great place to grab a bite before our show at the Queen. Very close to the Grand also and downtown Wilmington. Nice server who knew her stuff and attended to us very nicely. Will definitely go again.
A perfect place for a pre-opera lunch. The mushroom bisque was delicious and the roasted beet salad outstanding.
I was not happy with Open Table. It let me book an 11am reservation when the restaurant did not open until 11:30am.
I also thought that the Jambalaya was too salty and the rice was a little soggy. It was perfect once I took it home and made Jasmine rice.
Overall, the restaurant had great service, the ambiance was cool, and the Calamari was great!
