At Chez Bruce we are not particularly into gadgets and tricks in the kitchen. Home-made charcuterie, slow cooked braises, offal, warm and cold salads, classical desserts and bread-making could be listed as specialities. We also take the cheese board very seriously indeed and it forms an integral part of the restaurant's day-to-day life.
The Directors of the restaurant are fanatical wine-lovers and are very proud of the restaurant's wine list which truly is one of the very best in the UK.
A lovely meal to celebrate a special occasion, the service was impeccable and the food lovely... the cheese board was incredible!
Appetisers were good, our Cote Du Boeuf for two was superb. Great cocktails and well built wine list. Very good experience overall although the place lacked a bit of ambiance due to no background music.
Staff was gracious and happy, very aware of what is going on at each table and perfectly timed in regards to the presence at ours whenever they sensed we needed advise on menu items or wine.
All the dishes we had were really delicious, full of flavour and beautifully balanced. Fantastic wine list, very extensive and with some unusual choices. Service was attentive, warm and friendly. I also think £45 for 3 courses for lunch is very good value for cooking of this quantity. Will be back.
Maitre D was fantastic!
Absolutely outstanding. Hands down my favourite restaurant.
Food was excellent as ever and the ambience is bustling and not at all stuffy. On this occasion though, the service wasn’t up to scratch. We had 4 different people waiting our table and yet we needed to call for wine to be served (my glass was frequently empty - a first world problem but it is a Michelin started restaurant?!), it took a couple of attempts to order the food and the usual level of attention just wasn’t there. Let’s put it into contact though, we had a great meal and we will definitely come back (yet) again. It was just one of those slightly ‘off’ nights for the waiting staff.
Excellent food and service was not overbearing. £100/head for three courses, a bottle of wine and cocktails.
Food is sensational; beautiful environment; perfect service
Exceptional food and service as always, a delightful experience time and time again. Looking forward to going back already!
You cannot fault Chez Bruce. Perfection at its very best. Thank you. Corfield Family 19/12/18
As always, food and service wonderful. The desserts were amazing.
We had a lovely meal for my husbands birthday- fab table and service was as always fantastic
What's left to be said about my favourite restaurant, except that on this occasion they were even better!
Great performance as always. Hare ragu with spezle was sensational.
From start to finish Chez Bruce offer a welcoming, comfortable yet high end dining experience.
Wonderful friendly and professional staff, superb food and excellent wine selection.
Cannot recommend highly enough.
Loved everything about our dining experience. Such a wonderful birthday treat.
I had dinner at Chez Bruz on Tuesday night with a friend of mine.
The atmosphere was cosy and the room had nice Christmas decorations.
The waiter brought some different types of bread and some butter.
I tried as slice of the sourdough option, and found it to be ok, but nothing amazing.
The butter was very cold and then hard to spread. The taste was similar to any industry standard butter.
We ordered a carafe of red wine, which was pretty good and worth the price.
We both had one starter and one main dish.
I found the food slightly “old fashioned”: too rich and buttery, and I was unable to distinguish between any of the ingredients.
Everything was disguised by a fatty and buttery taste.
The service was spotless and the waiters very nice and friendly.
I didn’t find the restaurant to meet my expectations !You can find much better in London at that price!
Very much enjoyed it. The only constructive observation was that initially the staff rushed us to order and get through the meal. Initially l thought they wanted the table for 9.15 (we booked and arrived on time for 7.15) but this was not the case. Once we asked them no to rush usit was much more pleasant. Also there we no 2nd sittings that night. Looking forward to an excuse to go again.
Food amazing as always but service v poor
Chez Bruce never ceases to delight you. The food was of impeccable quality, the portions were generous for a Michelin star and the waiters made everything possible to make it easy for my 6 year old. We look forward to visiting soon again
A really lovely lunch / afternoon here - the cheese board is amazing as was all the food and the staff paired the wine perfectly - Thankyou so much
Overall excellent. I enjoyed my first course very much. I was slightly disappointed by the cote de boeuf as it was overdone though we asked for medium and the wait between first and second course was too long in my opinion. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Our whole evening was outstanding
We are locals though even if we weren't, we'd travel to be here. This is our favourite place to dine - reasonably priced for the high quality and variety of both classic and inventive dishes on offer, charming and knowledgeable team and great wine list. What's not to love?!
Service was faultless, food perfectly cooked and seasoned, one very small point is would of liked more truffle flavour on starter, but still worthy of 5 stars, brilliant wine list, the cheese board is best I've seen.
Comfortable ambience though perhaps tables a little close (we had a noisy party beside us which made this particularly obvious), delicious food, attentive & helpful staff. Will definitely be returning.
Second time visiting Chez Bruce - wasnt disappointed. Great food - lovely warm atmosphere - fantastic service.
Absolutely superb. Cheese board to die for and superb relaxed service. Excellent
Birthday dinner - fabulous, as ever!
Very good food at a very reasonable price
Lovely for a special occasion. Delicious food and was very impressed with the service- attentive without hovering and v friendly to 2 tired and slightly scruffy new parents!
Favourite restaurant in London. Always outstanding
The food is still amazing. Service is great and very knowledgeable staff. No loud music so you can actually talk to each other. Yes it's expensive if you have cocktails, wine and coffees etc but it's worth it for a special occasion.
Outstanding food and service, Bruce himself came to say hello as it was my daughter’s birthday. Great place for celebrating.
The food and service were absolutely outstanding, could not fault a single thing
Fantastic restaurant serving some of the best food I have tasted. We went for the the tasting menu and were not disappointed! Highly recommended.
Had a great lunch with friends. Every course was classic and wonderful
Great service! Fabulous food.
Wonderful experience every time. Friendly welcome. Delicious, well presented food. Immaculate service. Lovely atmosphere. Great wine list. Recently visited and would recommend crispy fish cakes, belly pork and hot chocolate pudding.
Not pretentious in any way and they don’t mind taking photos for you.
Had a lovely dinner here with family. Notified the restaurant it was a special occasion and they gave us a great table by the window. The food was excellent and a reasonable price for Michelin star. Would definitely recommend for a special meal!
