At Chez Bruce we are not particularly into gadgets and tricks in the kitchen. Home-made charcuterie, slow cooked braises, offal, warm and cold salads, classical desserts and bread-making could be listed as specialities. We also take the cheese board very seriously indeed and it forms an integral part of the restaurant's day-to-day life.
The Directors of the restaurant are fanatical wine-lovers and are very proud of the restaurant's wine list which truly is one of the very best in the UK.
An excellent choice of dishes with plenty of options to cater for all. Quite a small restaurant but we didn't feel cramped and the service was perfect. We will certainly be visiting again.
The food quality varies a little a lunch, generally it's very high but occasionally something distinctly mediocre slips through the net. Very relaxing place to eat and the staff are informed and helpful
Absolutely delicious. Haven’t been for a good few years but it’s just as good as I remember, if not then better. Highly recommend
We had a late evening reservation after a day at Wimbledon. The menu was diverse and extensive. Each of my guests found a number of options that tantalised and were not disappointed with what was presented. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and look forward to coming back next year.
Amazing food, ambience and attention to detail. Would thoroughly recommend
For me this is the best restaurant in London. Great wine list and sommelier really helpful. Top cheese board too.
Very bad form on the part of OpenTable/the restaurant not to inform me (at the time or booking the table) that on Sunday evenings there is no corkage on wine brought in to the restaurant.
Would have made the experience so much more enjoyable.
Simply put. It's one of the best restaurants in London. If you haven't yet tried it then you really must. Faultless.
Fabulous food and service, would definitely recommend and return.
Took a little bit long to serve the mains and the restaurant was very hot but can’t fault the food or the friendliness of the staff.
This was a birthday celebration for our son in law. As ever Chez Bruce delivered on every level. For years we have found Chez Bruce to be utterly reliable for excellent food, wine and service.
Fantastic night out - and even though it was a Monday evening, only a couple of empty tables. As you'd expect, the food, service and wine was excellent (and a cheese board to die for!) ... and to cap it it, we were there for a birthday so there was a surprise complimentary dessert with a candle in it for the birthday girl!
Excellent food and service!
Food was fabulous as were waiters. The woman maitre de let the restaurant down however as so unfriendly and unwelcoming.
Loved the meal and could have chosen anything on the menu as it all sounded so good.
We go to Chez Bruce for special occasions and we are never disappointed. The set lunch provided a wider range of choice than I remember but everything listed was appealing. Service as usual was excellent, not overly attentive but there when needed. The rabbit terrine and veal ragu starters wetted our tastebuds and the mains of skate and lamb were delicious. I don’t often ask for changes to a set menu but a desert including apricots was readily replaced by peaches. Drinks are expensive but the my red wine choice hit the spot. We look forward to our next visit.
Always a fantastic experience, serviced pitched perfectly at our table of 4 out for a very long lunch. Wine choices extensive, but we stayed at the bottom end of the list and were more than happy. Food delicious, with the ox cheek rendang starter and pork in mustard (it was so much more!) being particular highlights. We were very happy campers as we weaved our way out of the door, with womenfolk pausing only to gushingly compliment the very handsome man on the table next to us - with apologies to the table next to him... Bravo Brucie, another glorious victory.
Great service, great wine list at premium price, interesting menu and convenient location with pleasant ambiance.
The staff were very accommodating to our change in number of covers.
Only reservation on the food was that unusually for this and other fine dining restaurants was on this visit our two fish dishes were both slightly over cooked when usually they are perfect.
A wonderful evening. Brilliant service and delicious food.
Amazing as always, the lunch menu is good value. The food was delicious and the service brilliant. I always recommend Chez Bruce.
Favourite local restaurant. Warm welcome. Delicious food. We both had the Lobster and scallop ravioli and the Cote de Boeuf, which melted in the mouth. Warm, friendly service and help from the Sommelier with the wine choice.
A lovely evening.
Chez Bruce is by a long way one of the best restaurants in London and I’ve eaten there a few times a year for over 20 years. It has been consistently excellent throughout. Highly recommended for both food and service.
Superb food - wonderful service and excellent evening.
Very attentive service with amazing food. They also very kindly marked the occasion of our wedding anniversary with little something from the chef. A really nice touch!
We went for lunch for my husbands birthday and were seated upstairs which is smaller so the ambiance was a little less than downstairs. Lovely food and waiters.
We had a lovely lunch.
However, speedy topping up of wine is always an annoying tactic to try to up the bill. In fact a couple on the table next to us showed staff how terribly pushing booze can backfire as one of the party was so drunk, he fell across a table and mistook the kitchen for the toilet. The restaurant manager hissed at them that no more alcohol would be served to them. Bit late for that!
What a shame.
Fathers 65th birthday
As always perfect
Excellent food, wine and service. A real treat - especially the cheese board!
Wonderful setting which we have enjoyed for over 20 years! However Monday lunchtime service is not as "on point" as it usually is. No Somelier and some waiting staff in training with no guidance on explaining dishes etc. I'm also Gluten Free and they bought us a "Happy Anniversary" cake which wasn't GF but they said it was! They said they'd provide an alternative but didn't. We were so full so didn't miss it but it was a shame. Also Bruce walked through the restaurant - it would have been a nice touch for him to say hello. There were only about 8 tables so it wouldn't have taken long. We love Chez Bruce and are very loyal but this visit wasn't quite as special as others.
Food was spectacular, service excellent - attentive without being intrusive!
Wow! We visited for my Mum’s 70th Birthday on a recommendation and were not disappointed. A low key restaurant with outstanding food....we all had different main courses and deserts and none of us could fault any aspect! Delicious strawberry and pomegranate fizz cocktail too and the kind gesture of a cake for my mum.
My only constructive bit of feedback would be that the young man who was assigned to our table seemed rather uncomfortable and unfamiliar with the menu, unable to answer the couple of questions we had and not coming back to us on the answers when he said he was going to find out. This did not detract from the overall experience though.
Never fails to be excellent from the service, to the food, to the little touches like the Parmesan biscuits, delicious breads, shortbread and then there’s the fact that you never feel rushed, just beautifully looked after. Cannot recommend highly enough. Hope I will be back again soon
Fabulous as ever 3 course menu. We keep coming back for more.
Outstanding food and sommelier provided a great recommendation, although the service wasn’t quite up to the usual high standard
Amazing as ever xxx my favourite restaurant
For a Michelin Star restaurant, this place is up there. The food was fantastic and the £6 supplement for the Lobster and Scallop ravioli was well worth it. My Duck main was cooked beautifully, and the Cod dish was also delightful. Service was efficient and knowledgeable and the restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Would definitely return!
Wonderful food, wonderful wine, wonderful service as always. Thank you!
Unfortunately we were left to wait for 20 mins to order dessert, so we were rushed out of our table at the end and not offered the truffles / petit fours / pastries we saw going to other tables as the staff tried to get rid of us. A shame as we were there for our anniversary and wanted it to be special.
Perfect for a special occasion ...consistently wonderful.
