At Chez Bruce we are not particularly into gadgets and tricks in the kitchen. Home-made charcuterie, slow cooked braises, offal, warm and cold salads, classical desserts and bread-making could be listed as specialities. We also take the cheese board very seriously indeed and it forms an integral part of the restaurant's day-to-day life.
The Directors of the restaurant are fanatical wine-lovers and are very proud of the restaurant's wine list which truly is one of the very best in the UK.

Came here on a Sunday evening for a wedding anniversary. Had the tasting menu with wine.
Enjoyed delicious food, a lovely selection of wines, and spot on service. Perfect!
I have had mixed experiences here over the years which is a shame as it is so local to me. I used to come a lot but not been much in last 2-3 years due to unpredictability but I have to say it was back to its top notch standards on Saturday night.
We had a lovely evening. The food was exquisite, the wine waiter even let us taste some extra wines. It was perfect.
Pre arrival the confirmation service was outstanding and we were advised to change our booking to eat in the main dining room. Our starters were good, and main courses were classic and well prepared but unexciting. The cheese board was good and above average, puddings were ok. Expensive wine list. Total £100 per head seemed poor value, I expect a bit of culinary magic for this amount.
Always excellent and didn’t disappoint this time
Outstanding food and service always. My go-to restaurant.
As ever, the food was exceptional. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the staff knowledgeable & happy to suggest wine etc. within budget. Although it is not somewhere to go for a cheap meal, it is great value, given the extremely high standards they have set and maintained. I will continue to recommend everyone visits.
Delicious food and friendly staff made this lunch a relaxing and memorable experience.
I came back after 20 years, he still the best Restaurant off london thank you Bruce hope to see you next time well done to all the team.
Tried the tasting menu with wines. The food was lovely and the wine portions were generous. The other good thing was that the food portions were not over facing. The whole experience was great as usual.
Outstanding food as always. Impeccable service. If you want a restaurant to impress, this is the place to go. Can’t wait until next time.
Fantastic place that never disappoints. Great value for money and a menu that never lets you down. The staff are incredible and the service is spot on. If you want a meal for any occasion this is the place. See you again soon
Fantastic like always!
Can not get better food for the money in London.
My 4th visits to the restaurant. The dishes are unique, seasonal and tasteful. I have swapped to a Vegan diet since the beginning of the year. The staffs are very attentive and able to inform the Chef immediately and adjust the specific dietary accordingly. Highly recommended!
Very good food but expensive. Better value for lunch.
Enjoyable evening staff very attentive
Just exceptional - my favourite restaurant. A bit further to travel these days but worth it.
Over the years, Chez Bruce has been our go-to restaurant of choice for special occasions. It's close to Wandsworth Common station, which means we can get to it from South London easily, but most importantly, the food is good.
Over the past few years, we got a little bored with CB, so we've tended to go to elsewhere for wedding anniversaries, but for our 30th anniversary on a Monday night, you want an easy journey, so Chez Bruce it was. I'm very glad we did - the food was wonderful. Every course they cooked was perfect.
As always, the parmesan biscuits they bring in place of an amuse bouche were really tasty and the bread was good, and I did appreciate the way that the waiter encouraged us to take as many biscuits & pieces of bread as we wanted!
The Crisp Pig's Head starter I had was melt in the mouth and tasted divine (you couldn't tell it was anything to do with the head, so don't be put off) & my wife enjoyed her lobster, although she did comment that the lobster raviolo and the sauce, while both great, didn't really go that well together.
We both had the Barbary duck for mains and both really enjoyed it - I thought the duck was cooked to perfection, nicely pink, but not bloody. The bottle of Brunello we'd ordered was easily the most expensive wine we've ever ordered at £95 (less than a sixth of the expensive wines on the list!), but matched to the duck perfectly and was worth every penny.
For dessert, my wife had the cheese. This is one thing that has deteriorated over the years in Chez Bruce. It's still better than many restaurants, but in years gone past, my wife would have gone to CB just for the cheese - 3 shelves of wonderful cheese. This was one shelf of good cheese. I had the Orange and Banana cake and that was perfect.
So, if you're in South London, go! If you're not in South London, seriously think about going anyway. It's most definitely still worth that Michelin star.
Came to Chez Bruce for my 50th. From start to finish, all the staff showed care and attention to detail. Felt very looked after. The food, wine and the whole ambience was excellent. Although busy, I and my guests felt the service was faultless. I will definitely be back!!
SUCH a lovely evening. I took my husband for his birthday. Despite being local to Chez Bruce and having heard so much positive things about it from many people, somehow we hadn't got round to visiting until now. So glad we did, it lived up to expectations and more and we will definately be returning. Service and food top notch and great ambiance in the restaurant. Extensive wine list and very knowledgeable and helpful sommelier. Seating layout excellent too spacious yet intimate with tables for two facing the restaurant side by side in most cases rather than facing which all adds to the overall feeling of the place. Delicious and wonderful evening, thank you!
Consistently wonderful. I can't wait for my next visit!
Stunning food and impeccable service. Would recommend highly.
As always Chez Bruce doesn’t disappoint. We went as a family for my dad’s birthday and were well looked after. I would thoroughly recommend going there. Helen
Great service. Good wine list and some excellent suggestions.
Sadly the food was the letdown. It was very pedestrian. Nothing special. It tasted dull like they were just going through the motions. My wife’s turbot did not taste fresh.
This was my first and last visit. For the price it doesn’t get a second chance.
Fantastic as always, great knowledgeable staff and a stunning menu
Outstanding as usual , if I could live here .... I would
Brilliant as always! The food is exceptional and the service is very special. I would dine there every day if only I could!
Great restaurant, we return every couple of years and have been going since about 2002. The fact we’re still going back and will continue to go back says it all.
Had a fabulous lunch, service, food I couldn’t fault. If you haven’t been yet please go as you won’t be disappointed.
Also I would like to thank the manager, Liam , his attention to detail as with all the staff , perfect.
Thank you we will return .
As usual wonderful food excellent service WAY TOO HOT. need to get their air conditioning sorted out. Always been this. Have said it before to them.
Lovely meal with my family to celebrate my sons 14th birthday.
They were really accommodating with my vegan husband!
The service was excellent!
Probably our 20th visit to Chez Bruce and it still remains our favourite restaurant in London.
Quality and variety of food is just incredible. A taste sensation every time!
Food and wine pretty faultless and joyful. Service not as good as food.
Outstanding food and service as always. Has to be one of the most consistent and best restaurants in London and for the quality of food, one of the most reasonably priced. We were there for an 88th birthday and every member of staff made the birthday lady feel so special. Thanks to all at Chez Bruce
We had a wonderful time and the food was good. This was not our first visit and this second visit just did not feel as good. Table location was poor, we opt for the tasting menu which felt very rushed and the wines did not wow. Stick to a la carte and choose your own wines. Much better food and more interesting, or maybe only go once.
As ever Chez Bruce never disappoints. We had lunch mid week and the menu was full of great seasonal choices, the right balance for a lunch. I had the lobster and crab ravioli to start which was really fresh and simply delicious. Followed by veal which was melt in your mouth. The service was attentive, discreet and charming as ever. And lunch is always such great value - we are so lucky to have a local restaurant with such outstanding quality and consistency. It was a belated birthday treat to go - last year my husband took me to a 3* place in the west end - the biggest disappointment ever - never again - it probably cost us 3 times as much as Chez Bruce and the food was awful.
A wonderful lunch for a friends 50th birthday celebration. We started with a delicious Gin Fizz. The lunchtime menu was delicious from start to finish. Bruce made an appearance to wish my friend happy birthday which was a very nice touch.
All the extra touches including a birthday pudding, chocolate truffles, shortbread made it a very occasion.
Excellent friendly staff.
