At Chez Bruce we are not particularly into gadgets and tricks in the kitchen. Home-made charcuterie, slow cooked braises, offal, warm and cold salads, classical desserts and bread-making could be listed as specialities. We also take the cheese board very seriously indeed and it forms an integral part of the restaurant's day-to-day life.
The Directors of the restaurant are fanatical wine-lovers and are very proud of the restaurant's wine list which truly is one of the very best in the UK.

Amazing as always. Food and Service top notch. A local gem in Wandsworth.
Saturday’s dinner was just perfect, as always. Great service, delicious food and very nice ambiance
Went here for my wife's 40th birthday. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Menu had something for everyone. We all enjoyed our meals, I had the Venison and it was cooked to perfection. The sommelier provided us with an excellent bottle of red. For dessert, the cheese board is to die for. Un-requested, the staff came to our table with a Birthday dessert for my wife - which was a lovely touch.
Simply delicious - hadn’t been for years - will be back again very soon
Just fantastic service from start to finish. Food wasn’t too bad either!
Fabulous lunch menu !!
Birthday treat and looked after like royalty... Even Bruce popped over to give birthday wishes !! Nice man !! The wine list is amazing too !!
Definitely worth a visit !!
Super - really good I loved it. It’s situated about 200 metres from Wandsworth Common Southern Region station which is in turn one stop from Clapham Junction.
On a Tuesday lunchtime it was about three quarters full which for out of central London is pretty good.
The decor is plain, with plenty of room between tables and NO BLOODY MUSIC THANK GOD! They coped well with my changing the booking from six to five and then a no show so four of us.
They offer a three course meal with about five choices per course but a bit light on veggie options not that I care. The set meal is about £38 a head and with two bottles of wine plus aperitifs and digestives plus coffee ended up at about £80 a head. An absolute steal at the price.
I’m not going to tell you what we ate, the menu is on the web site. They did though offer as an amuse bouche Parmesan biscuits. Absolutely marvellous. “Can I have the recipe, I asked?” And a little card with details promptly arrived. So if you will excuse me I will finish here, I have the ingredients and am going to make a batch now.
Went to Chez Bruce for a celebratory lunch with friends having wanted to go for a while. Was not disappointed- everything was great, in particular the service and the extra dessert we received as the waiter had somehow worked out we were celebrating! Excellent value Sunday lunch too!
Booked for a birthday lunch celebration and it didn’t disappoint. Food was outstanding and service was excellent. With the added touch of a slice of birthday cake brought over with desert was a lovely surprise.
fantastic food and atmosphere . Always a special treat
It’s Chez Bruce ! What more can I say? If u haven’t been yet why not ? Especially if you’re a south Londoner
A delicious meal with helpful and discreet service. A very special occasional night out.
Amazing food and lovely service. Great seasonal menu.
Had the set menu and usually love the food here. However, the fig starter was incredibly sweet and the almond biscuits which came with the buttermilk pudding were so sickly sweet I couldn’t eat more than 2 small bites. I loves puddings and have a sweet tooth but even I couldn’t eat it!
A lovely dinner out just a shame the chef went so sugar mad. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a sweet meal before or complained about anything being too sweet. A shame as everything wasn’t overly seasoned when I last went in June. A disappointment.
Sensational quality food in a relaxed setting. I tried the tasting menu with wine flight but there were so many amazing choices I will be returning
Always a great place to go for a treat. Outstanding food, wine and service
Best restaurant in London. Food and Staff are superb. Worth travelling if you’re not lucky enough to live within walking distance. Always raising their standards and never disappointing.
Excellent. Our first lunch visit and we were not disappointed, just as fabulous as dinner service. A thoroughly fabulous afternoon for a very special anniversary lunch.
Amazing food, would highly recommend this restaurant. We had the foie gras and steak tartare, followed by the cod and grouse. Everything was cooked to perfection and was so tasty. We arrived early but our table wasn’t ready - there were tables available but I think they must stagger the service. When we went back, our table was next to an open door so it was a bit cold. The waiter moved us quickly but we then ended up underneath the air conditioning. A lovely waiter moved us again to a
bigger table with no draughts, and it was just perfect. Thank you for a lovely evening, we’ll be back.
Always a pleasure to go to Chez Bruce - lovely atmosphere, delicious food and wines. Lunch is also good value at £42 for three courses.
It was our first time trying Chez Bruce. We really enjoyed our meals; the food was of a very high standard and the staff were attentive and welcoming.
The restaurant was filling up and noise levels were slightly too high - but a sign that the restaurant is doing well.
Overall it was a lovely meal to celebrate a birthday.
Lovely food and great service. Would come again to try their ever changing menu.
Delicious food and great value for lunch. Not too loud so a good place to go to catch up with friends or as a couple.
Fabulous food, perfect service - and given the quality of the food and experience, pretty good value!
Superb as always ...
Lovely food & wine, and great service!
Chez Bruce never disappoints. It is a very special neighbourhood restaurant. The food is amazing and the service outstanding. My kids were equally impressed.
One of my favourite restaurants.
Lovely atmosphere and a great venue. Intimate without feeling too cramped.
Excellent all round, can’t fault it. Exceptional food and service, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Great for an intimate special occasion.
Lovely ambiance, great staff and beautiful desert. Excellent for special occasions!
My favorite restaurant on the planet is Union Square, Café in New York City. My daughter went there for the first time when she was five weeks. She probably went over 50 times before we left New York City. They always treated her like she was the regular guest that she actually was, despite being in a stroller for the first 20 times or so she was there. To me, it is the ultimate experience in the hospitality. The first time I ever went to Chez Bruce was in 2007. I immediately felt like I was at Union Square, Café on the other side of the Atlantic. Michelin star food that makes you feel like you are in your local neighborhood café. And I have felt that way each time I have been since then. It should not be missed.
Chez Bruce remains London's best restaurant. We have visited the restaurant for over 15 years and it never disappoints. Exquisite food and wine, perfect service in a relaxed setting. It's understandable why this is the restaurant London's favourite for chefs and foodies!
I generally don't like writing reviews, but on this occasion I am compelled to do so. A kind of standing ovation to Chez Bruce!
It was my husband's birthday yesterday and I had chosen lunch at Chez Bruce as a surprise. As we had not been there in a couple of years, it was important to me that he had a good experience.
The cuisine was absolutely fabulous, faultless to the last delicious morsel. The wine list was excellent, very extensive and well selected.
The fish dishes we chose (cod and hake) were cooked to perfection, and the puddings were to die for. In fact we had three between us and were even presented with a small birthday cake and candle (which we took home in a little box) to savour later... with some truffles... and some wafer thin shortbread. Such a thoughtful touch. Who wouldn't want to return, if you are looked after so well?!
We felt completely spoilt by the friendly and impeccably trained staff, all headed by Alex the manager who made us feel so welcome.
A big thank you to you all for making our visit so special on so many levels.
We will definitely be back again soon.
We visited Chez Bruce last night. I had been given a gift voucher and when I arrived gave this to our waitress. We had the tasting menu and the food was excellent. The way we were treated by Alex The restaurant manager was appalling. He came to us during the second course to advise us that the voucher could not be used, as this was an email confirmation only and not the original. He telephoned the friend who had given us the voucher at 10.30pm insisting that I spoke to her. Even then he refused to accept the voucher. He hassled us throughout our meal. Although the food was good, the entire evening was spoilt by this member of staff, who had no customer skills and who seemed completely disinterested in us ar any one else. It’s so disappointing as we have been visiting Chez Bruce for years, for 50th birthdays , New Year’s Eve celebrations and special treats but sadly this will be our our last visit.
The restaurant was noisy and hot and both the fish and meat dishes were undercooked and sent back. We were both very ill after the meal.
As ever, Chez Bruce hits all the top notes. Tasting menu, fig and goats cheese starter, fine balance and wonderful light red (sicillian?)to accompany, haddock was unusual in all the right intriguing ways (cucumbers!!), shellfish ravioli was superbly rich, sweet unctuous and wine well matched. Grouse was beautifully presented, so tender.
Chez Bruce is always a great choice. Fantastic food and great service that’s always on the right side of attentive,
Fabulous starter, fois grais and chicken liver. Really lovely pork roast main then yummy dessert of raspberry and almond tart. Definitely recommend, best restaurant in south London.
I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a tasting menu. All the food was fantastic and the matching wines were very well picked out. Sommelier and the rest of the staff were knowledgeable and very helpful.
Delicious Côte de beouf mmmmm
Always a treat
Elegant And relaxed dining
