After visiting Chez Ton Ton for my birthday after sometime as we used to dine there a fair bit over the years ,I would say the vibe and the authentic food did not disappoint. The French speaking waiters is a lovely touch to add to its ski chalet French vibes .Food was tasty however the teas and coffee were cold. The waiters kept on playing with the music system which made it seem a little disco like instead of a peaceful dining experience . To conclude the most disappointing thing was that the service charge did not go to the staff but instead the owners and when asked to take it off or if there was the option to pay it in cash separately the waiter frightfully declined saying he would get in trouble if he did so. This upset me immensely, I as a customer am I titled to give the service charge to whom I chose !

Looking for authentic French food on a corner in High Barnet? This is it!
Superb cuisine and delicious wines, small tables, caring and efficient servers - Paris has nothing on Cafe Tonton.

I have wanted to try this restaurant for ages but we live in an area with lots to choose from. For my birthday I decided I wanted to eat French so I finally chose Chez Tonton. I'm so glad I dad! It was wonderful! Fabulous, attentive, friendly service. Delicious authentic-they're really French!-food. Great selection of wines. I had an amazing birthday. My new favourite restaurant!! I would heartily recommend it!

Restaurant was fine. The food & service was very good whilst the house wine seemed to go down well. Only issue we had was that is was a bit cold on the legs sat by some external double doors. Otherwise a very pleasant evening.

First visit for many years, but found it had not changed at all. Just as good as ever. Excellent service with personal attention by the proprietor. Very French atmosphere with varied menu available as well as a good range of wines. I had Moules, Duck and Crepes, but would not have the crepes again. Highly recommended and will return soon.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful restaurant in Barnet (no offence to Barnet!). Chez Tonton looks rather unprepossessing from the outside but the food and service were both excellent and matched by the ambiance - we both had a wonderful evening. The food is traditional French cuisine and very reasonably priced. We will definitely return!

Just like being in a French Bistro including staff with poor heavily accented English. Great food and as long as I spoke in French great service. London prices of course. May well revisit as the rabbit is delicious.

An authentic French dining experience in North London... Superb dishes, great cooking and genuinely friendly and attentive service. Add a really good, very reasonably priced wine list.. and you have a pretty stunning evening out. Get a dedicated driver, use the ghastly Uber or otherwise beat a path to the door - you won't regret it! Can't wait for my next visit.

This has been a very good local/neighbourhood restaurant for many years and has not allowed standards to drop. The food is tasty, authentic and has enough variety for most palates. It is also very good value. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

another excellent meal with great service and very typical French food all under the watchful eye of the French owner Eric and his team. Authentic taste of France in New barnet. Loved the traditonal Mussels starter and the creme brulee was excellent.

My wife and I visited Chez Tonton on the recommendation of a neighbour. It was busy on a Tuesday, which is always a good sign.

Great service, with people looking to help all the way through without being overbearing.

The food was lovely, traditional French fare with a number of specials available at a good value . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Perfectly cooked duck and yummy dauphinois potatoes. However the vegetables were a let down- they were overlooked and looked like frozen veg.
Fantastic service even though it was busy and just one waiter serving .

We eat out monthly with our former neighbours choosing different restaurants each time. However, Chez Tonton is my favourite as the food is consistently good , the service excellent and the ambience authentically French.

(sorry for my english) My girlfriend and me enjoyed a very magical night in this place. We celebrated our first anniversary as couple. We are spanish and we loved the food (amazing, awesome), the service and the comfortable and lovely place. This is not a normal restaurant; this is much more. It is a special restaurant to taste good meal and to enjoy.

We will always remember this special moment in Barnet.

Thanks to all of you.

Will start by saying that other diners seemed to be having a good time. Unfortunately meat for our main course was dry, chewy and seemingly over cooked. It certainly was not slow cooked in juice as stated on the menu. When we made comment it was rather frivolously dealt with. Rest of meal was fine.
