The decoration of China Tang will evoke a romantic sense of art deco of the thirties in line with the general architecture of the Dorchester Hotel. At the same time, there will be an abundance of Chinoiserie as well as a collection of art from both.

BEST CHINESE FOOD IN LONDON! I’d eat there everyday if I could
We arrived just after 12 and restaurant wasn't open - we ventured downstairs at 12.05 and staff were standing around. It felt like we were intruding and did not receive a warm welcome from them.
I asked for the lunch menu and received disapproving looks, although I did order from a la carte menu. The sommelier was dismissive and quickly took away the wine glasses before I had even said we weren't having a bottle of wine.
We had originally planned to go for the Tea at Tangs, but there was no information about what time that was available from, and they didn't answer my email.
But then our waitress arrived and the experience improved. We were still the only customers in the restaurant so it did feel quite drab. A lot of the items on the menu weren't available, but what they did have tasted nice.
One disappointment was the xiao long bao had no soup by the time it got to us, a disappointing solid mouthful of meat and pastry.
Butttt I really enjoyed the lobster dumpling and mango spring roll. The egg tart was also nice
Overall, hit and miss. Service and ambience could be better and they could be better organised. The food was in general good, and the one waitress we had was nice.
Service was super lousy. Given the number of staff they had you and the fact it’s located in the Dorchester, you would think they know how to do service. We were not greeted or thanked when we left and the waiting staff were all mediocre and almost rude and non expressive apart from the guy who took our order.
Food is excellent but not sure I would go again when the service was so terrible
From the moment we walked in until the second we left, nobody seemed remotely interested in us enjoying our experience. It was a special occasion for us, not that anybody made any effort, even though the restaurant was pre advised.
I had heard really good things from friends I trust, and it was the only high end Chinese Resto in London we hadn't tried.
The room is far to overcrowded, they could lose 12 covers and the experience would be greatly increased. There was no thought to the seating attempt, a young couple on a romantic night out placed next to a table including 4 kids under 6yrs old, not ideal on a Saturday night.
The food that followed (dim sum aside which was a comfortable 7.5/10) was provincial takeaway quality at best.. At best. Tasteless lumps of nothingness!
We paid the bill of just under £200 and left very very disappointed.
Fabulous Dim Sum options, delicious flavoursome food, superb service, decor and ambience. Highly recommended.
I have been many times. Every time everything is consistent , the service is outstanding , the food is delicious and the ambiance is wonderful. I make sure I go every time to go to london
China Tang did not exceed my expectations and failed to offer the experience I'm after for the price they are charging. Food was average and service was slpppy, I don't mind a traditional/ no frill Chinese restaurant as long as the food is good but China Tang came across as outdated for me.
We were a party of 12, w kids. We ordered a lot of food and it took too long for starters to come. After that the food came quickly.
The main server had no personality or drive to speak of and he never smiled. He was a retraction and did not make up for it anyway.
It was hard to get water and drinks kept full. Coffee at end of meal were cold.
Surprised at how sloppy this service was given the high end and high volume this restaurant is used to and capable of handling.
Food was outstanding.
Seemed like a drain smell wafting through the restaurant, not nice, kind of came in waves, mentioned to waiter who laughed at the idea
As usual, food and service second to none, we ate Saturday evening great ambiance attentive service
So good we decided to dine on Sunday and safe to say we wasn’t disappointed
Been here several times before and found it to be excellent but was very disappointed on Saturday evening ordered a full duck Part was meant to come with pancakes and then the other part shredded with lettuce but after asking twice for the shredded part we gave up as our main courses arrived well that said there was five of us but only 4 mains turned up when we asked about the 5th main the waiter went away and came back and said they had forgotten to do it .
It eventually turned up as everyone else was finishing there's.
Not the type of service you expect when paying over £700 For a meal for 5 people .
Like I said been several times before and found it to be great don't know what went wrong on Saturday night.
Really good food and excellent service, but quite a price tag and quite a noise level.
I have never meet such kind of bad service at the China Tang like our last visit as we were always looking for the waiters. Waited a long time
If you want good food, but don’t care about the service then this is for you. I expected a lot more on the service side as it is in “The Dorchester”. If they want to keep the name where it is they need to look at China Tang and get them to improve service considerably.
One of the starters didnt cone until halfway through the main course. Waiters were too busy running around, felt as if were were being ignored. The food was nice, not amazing. The restaurant was way too loud, we expected a moderate amount of noise but this was too much. Would have expected a more prestige environment for the dorchester but i saw the complete opposite. Had to ask for the bill on more than 2 occaisions. The staff were not great at customer service, considering we spent a lot of money!
We ordered a whole duck for about £60 and what we received was definitely not what we paid for.. I have never seen so little meat come from one duck before
Lovely experience as always! We came down to China tang just for my sister’s birthday dinner. She had especially flown down to London for her birthday & she absolutely loved it. The food, ambience, service everything was amazing as always. The birthday wish & cake in the end was the cherry on top. 5/5 for everything. Thanks for giving us some lovely memories.
I had wanted to go to China Tang for a while. A family birthday seemed like the perfect opportunity. The ambience and service were very good. The food, however, was very average at best. Indeed, my local Chinese takeaway is much better. The saving grace is the price though, which is very reasonable considering the setting.
Awesome food and lively atmosphere. We had to wait 20 minutes for our scheduled table which was fine because the bar and bartenders are amazing. The service was a touch spotty / unorganised and it felt like the waitstaff was a bit overwhelmed. No one came over at the start of the meal to introduce themselves as our waiter. We just sat around for 5-10 minutes, decided what we wanted and flagged down a waiter. The starters came right away and then we waited 45 minutes for peking duck, prawns and veg. I think the waiter just forgot our next course as the ducks are already cooked and ready to go. He apologized for the wait and the duck showed up a minute later. Not the end of the world and we would go back but it was our anniversary dinner and didn't feel all that special. Probably more of our own gaff on restaurant selection for the occasion. Will return again but when we want more of a fun night out with friends.
Good presentation could be a bit better, however, still nice. The prices are a little over priced.
Overly priced, small portions, no value for money. 5 quid for a diet coke can, really?
Staff were friendly and the food was the best Chinese I’ve tasted in London,
Recomend duck and pancakes...
It is a very nice restaurant with excellent service and good food. I like the ambience and the atmosphere. It is very quiet with comfortable seating so you can have good conversation as well. Overall a very pleasant dinning experience. I would not say that the food was out of this world even though it was delicious, staff were helpful and attentive
Liked the bar - One of the best martinis I have ever enjoyed - the food was excellent
We booked the China Tang for a birthday celebration and It was an absolutely lovely evening. The food was delicious, staff where so attentive and the ambience was incredible. I would highly recommend a dinner date here. Many thanks.
Probably we had too high expectation after reading reviews, we were shocked by the noisy environment and tight space between tables. overall, we were disappointed for what we paid. NOT a good experience.
I had a wonderful evening celebrating my birthday at China Tang. The staff were very welcoming, polite and attentative. The food was amazing. There were no faults in my opinion. I would most definitely go back, and would highly recommend to friends and family.
Nice enough space. Food not much better than inexpensive take out. Will not return.
Food was amazing as always but I checked the bill next day and one prawn dish was added extra in the bill . It was not not ordered and served .
After reviewing the general manager Nathalie enailed me and refunded the money back . The best service i have ever received. Thanks so much
This is our favorite Chinese restaurant and we try and go anytime we are in London. Very good food and excellent service, a bit pricey but worth it.
Had a great time here with my family- food was great and so were the staff
Great dishes done super well - the Peking duck was fabulous and nothing disappointed
Memorable meal for a memorable reason
Good authentic food and great choice of ingredients.
Had a lovely experience the food and service was outstanding
The food was bad and uncooked, the service was bad and even the atmosphere is bad and noisy with kids !! it was like something didn't match with the level of dorchester hotel !!
Very nice, bang on !!!!!!
