The decoration of China Tang will evoke a romantic sense of art deco of the thirties. At the same time, there will be an abundance of Chinoiserie as well as a collection of art from both.

Another fantastic dinner at China Tang
Busy Saturday night, food on top form along with attentive service
Never fails to deliver - retains the crown for London’s best restaurant
The lobster noodles was bland and was very poor, unlike the previous time we were there.
Such disappointing service. We have been coming to China tang for 15 years and never experienced such poor service. There have been so many staff changes, the new staff just don’t have the same ethos.
Standards have dropped compared to 1 year ago. Certain items (e.g. congee) was not available because it’s no longer served yet it remains on the menu. Sloppy attention to detail. This seems consistent with the nonchalant attitude of their staff who seems to be demoralised. The room was hot and the kitchen audibly noisy.
What happened to the management of this once great place?
The food was amazing, delicious and presentation wonderful. The staff were so helpful and friendly, it was truly exceptional. Thanks
Very good enjoyed my whole experience worth a visit great set lunch
Yes I would recommend them but on their responsibility. I mean, instead I would like to advise the management to trained staff a bit more.
It’s a very nice atmosphere to dine in. Food is amazing but a bit pricey! Overall it was amazing experience.
Excellent food and service, would go back for sure.
Place Is so nice and food are all tasty. Been here several times and never disappointed
We had lovely evening with very nice food, given it is in the Dorchester it is very good value for money.
Excellent venue. Very efficient, great decor and amazing food
The food was great. Service was very slow. Other than that a great afternoon out.
Food was very good, staff were very attentive and flexible. Some of my guests were late so they kindly delayed the booking, even though they were clearly busy.
Service was exceptional. Best service we have had in a long time. Would recommend to anyone and would definitely go back!
We had fish, roast pork, char siu, steamed scallops, Dan Dan noodle for dinner. All food was excellent and very fresh. I will recommend steamed scallops to anyone who loves seafood. The size of it is extra large. And it’s so delicious that I can just eat it all night. However, the restaurant will need to improve the reception service. When we were leaving, my husband asked them for the coats. They asked my husband to go get them himself upstairs in the kind of rude manner. This has damaged a bit of the nice memory in that expensive restaurant. As a restaurant in five stars hotel, we expected five star service. Busy is not an acceptable reason or excuse. When we were in other restaurant in the same hotel, the service was exceptionally good. So I hope the management of China Tang will take it seriously.
Ambiance is very nice. Food is so-so. You go here to have Chinese food in an upscale environment but doesn’t mean the food or service is upscale. I found service to be cold and unhelpful.
While we were waiting forever to get the bill, a table manager rudely came to our table to inform us she needs the table. We were quick to tell her we were sitting around waiting for the bill! No apology offered for rudeness.
The ambiance was lovely and food was amazing. The black been in beef was so tender. Loved the steamed prawn and scallop dumplings too.
The waiters were very attentive.
Slow service. We were overtly rushed, the dessert menu was brought out in the middle of eating our main course because of the apparently very strict 2 hour limit! Tables squashed, waiting staff can do better. Very annoying squeaky kitchen door being used all evening. Food left something to be desired. Disappointing.
Lovely food, god service, nice setting. Would recommend.
We went for my daughters birthday, as we do every year, since we were last there the menu has changed and I prefer the old menu and when the dumplings arrived there was a black hair in them!! They were replaced but shouldn't have been there in the first place!
Food was great, but hot dishes were a little on the cold side by the time it reached our table, and attentive level of service. We tried a couple of dim sum dishes and a few from the a la Carte menu. Lovely flavours and wasn’t too heavy or greasy food.
Qualität der Speisen sind eher mittelmäßig.
Zum Teil nur lauwarm, undifferenziert gewürzt.
Im Großen und Ganzen kulinarisch enttäuschend.
Food, cocktails etc all very good. I was a little disappointed that two young children were running around the restaurant past 8.00, when they have a policy that means they should not have been there.
Dear Nigell, Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your evening. I am sorry if some of our younger guests were less well behaved than perhaps they should have been, and hope that that did not deter from your enjoyment. We welcome children of all ages up to 9pm. From 9pm onwards we welcome children ten years and older in the restaurant only. We look forward to having the pleasure of welcoming you back soon. Kindest regards Nathalie
Probably the best Chinese food in town. Staff was helpfull, polite and kind. Food and wine were excellent.
We decided to go China Tang for an anniversary dinner as we were recommended and we weren’t disappointed. The staff were all very attentive and helpful with recommendations of what to order. The food was really good everything tasted amazing and will definitely be going back.
Splendida atmosfera, locale molto elegante, cibo eccellente ,grande professionalità e gentilezza ! Unico!
Excellent customer service, good food, and decor ...it would have been nice if they had made a bit of fuss over my son as it was his birthday and they knew as I had informed them when I booked. Regardless I would definately recommend the venue and go again.
Great food in a lovely setting. Cost was high but to be expected in the location. Duck was superb.
It was a good experience. Didn't enjoy the soup but the rest of the food was amazing. they catered to my needs perfectly and adjusted one of the dishes per my request without complaint. Would defo come back.
Sensational experience - Its not cheap but it's worth it
Fabulous.... the duck is amazing
A beautiful place to dine, food was definitely outstanding and the service excellent. Can’t wait for my next business trip to come again
We had high hopes for celebrate our anniversary at China Tang and made reservations well in advance. However the day of I phoned several times to confirm and move the time a bit earlier. No one ever answered the phone. When we arrived there was no one at coat check and the restaurant was fairly empty. Despite that they seated us at a tiny table in the back corner and upon asking for other options (and much discussion with "colleagues") we decided that this was the best that we could do. The sommelier was by far the highlight to our experience. We had a lovely bottle of champagne and he looked after us. The wait staff was fine and the food was good (not exceptional). The service was very rushed and the ambiance was not as good as it might have been as the table are very packed in and noise level is high. For the price point and being in the Dorchester I was disappointed.
Table booked at 9.30 and only seated at 10.05, kitchen closed for desserts as the steamer had been turned off.
Was recommended this place by my cousin to take my wife for her birthday and it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere was really wonderful and the service was very efficient. The food options were vast as well and prices were not as bad as I expected. The food portions were really big as well to what I was expecting. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains and 2 sides as well as 2 desserts and due to the portion size, we just about managed to finish it all. They also sang Happy Birthday to my wife and gave us a small dessert platter on the house for her. Overall a very very pleasant evening and would recommend this to anyone who would love to enjoy Halal Chinese food as well as to take their respective partners.
Great meal served with perfection never fails to deliver and claims the prize of London’s best eatery
Impeccable food and service. Lovely setting, you forget you are below ground level. Bit noisy but feels polished for that special occasion. Lovely pistachio colada cocktail in the bar beforehand too. Must also mention I was first to arrive and didn’t feel uncomfortable waiting in the bar alone.
Great wine list. Food average.
