Best of British beef, butchered & dry-aged in house and cooked over an open flamed charcoal grill. Chop House Leith has brought an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar to Constitution Street & is an exciting addition to the Shore’s vibrant culinary scene, brought to you by the team behind Monteiths & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the offer and the restaurant uses the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland. The meat is butchered on site and dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness & then the beef cooked on an open flame charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Fantastic food is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open Mon - Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat & Sun for weekend breakfast, lunch and Sunday roast! They have another Chop House on East Market St. & Bruntsfield, Edinburgh.

Great Anniversary meal here. We were treated very nicely indeed by Alexandra, and the Chateabriand was excellent. Lovely atmosphere for a special occasion. Thanks.

Lovely place, however quite loud music playing couldn’t hear our conversations
Service was slow and we had to ask for drinks
Vegetables would also be nice with the food

We were there for Sunday lunch and the roast sirloin of beef was delicious- perfectly medium rare. The bone marrow gravy was rich and full of flavour and the creamed horseradish was the perfect accompaniment. We followed with the caramel fondue which was a sharing plate of marshmallows and donuts with a salted caramel fondue - simply divine. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars overall was the cost of the wine. £34 for a bottle of Picpoul de Pinet was at least £7 more expensive than other restaurants and a lot more than it’s worth.

Came in at 11am for brunch on a Sunday and we were the only people in there. Waited almost 40 mins for our food, and when we enquired after 30 mins how long it would be, we were told it was because we had ordered the bacon chop which takes longer. Would have been helpful to know this when we ordered. Otherwise the food was nice, coffee good, stylish decor.

We were seated late and had already chosen a later time to eat. My main course came cold (fridge cold) the meat hadn’t been rested at all. We did get a replacement which was excellent. The waiter forgot about the eggs with my partners main, we asked for oil with our bread which was also forgotten. The apology was a round of drinks & the waiters were very apologetic, however, it is not a patch on Bruntsfield.

This restaurant in Leith is the perfect place to enjoy a good cut of meat. We ordered a bone-in rib sharing platter which comes with the cut of meat itself and 2-3 sauces to taste (which were all great).
I think this is perfect for a couple as it allows you to taste a couple of different things.
The meat was perfectly seared and cooked to medium as requested and the grill used had definitely given it extra flavour.
The restaurant is small which makes for a more intimate experience but definitely book in advance.
Overall a really nice experience and especially recommended for meat enthusiasts.

Been quite a few times and always really good. Everything else was lovely again but the quality of the meat was really disappointing this time, very very tough and not worth the price at all. We’ll still go back and hopefully just a one off but really not as good as expected

service was good with good knowledge from the waiting staff. Only down side from myself is that I suffer from an sight problem and even with the aid of my glasses i had to rely on my partner and waiting staff to help me out choose off the menu. The lighting was to low set and to make matters worse halfway through our meal they turned the lights down even lower and basically could not see my food . Not one for complaining in front of other guests incase i spoil their night .
Overall no complaints about the food .

we ordered the fillet medium rare and when we received it..it was medium and not that tender ..the mash potatoes weren't nice at all and no gravey came with them..and the greens were cold. we were with American friends so didnt want to complain (which had we been ourselves we most definately would have!)

very disappointing and we won't be back.

lovely ambience..which didn't reflect in the food!

Those in my group really liked Chophouse Leith. This is a steak place- pure and simple, so if great steak isn’t your thing, you’ll be unhappy. The restaurant is a good 15-20 minute taxi ride from the Holyrude area of the Edinburgh Old Town. Really nice youngish vibe to the place. The service was excellent. Matthew, I believe, was our waiter and he saw to everything including getting us a cab to get us back in not Edinburgh. As for the steaks, they were of excellent quality and were cooked as ordered. The grilled squid app was also very good. Nice drinks and wine selections. Overall, worth the trip. Excellent value. This place is popular so have a reservation.

Mate Date dinner and a indulgent treat, having bread, starters, main and desert. The waitress was fantastic, informative and very polite. The short rib scotch egg was amazing, steak perfectly cooked and the brownie was beaut. The restaurant was a slick cool environment. Would definitely go again as a treat.
Also, the bathroom smelt great.

Another great meal at the chop house in Leith! We had the cheeseburger, dripping chips and the Sunday roast...both were outstanding. Never fails to deliver, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Can’t wait to get back again. The staff are always really friendly and really can’t do enough for you. The gent was great with the wee ones too. Thanks for another great meal.

First time at this wee gem and won’t be our last. Service from ‘Nacho’ the maitre D was spot on and he was knowledgable about the cuts of steak and the best way to have them cooked. I went with my partner for a birthday meal and the food was exceptional and the ambience really chilled. The interior decor was modern funky and industrial and perfect for the millennial crowd. Limited menu overall but what there is is gastronomically good. The bar area is also a nice touch and separate from the main dining which means you can stay longer and have one of their quirky cocktails or a quality spirit. This is the first time we have been to the chop house and we will be going to their sister restaurant at the Arches, Market Street in due course.

One of my friends suggested dining out at the restaurant. So the booking was for a party of 3.

The food was excellent, especially if one likes steak. The Medium Rare Porterhouse was scrumptious, particularly with the peppercorn sauce.

We had a wait for our table, but the wait was certainly worth it. We had a relaxing evening, helped by a pre-dinner cocktail each, a couple of bottles of wine that were shared, a post-prandial each and best of all Alex from Crete who looked after us really well.

Definitely go back again.
