Best of British beef, butchered & dry-aged in house and cooked over an open flamed charcoal grill. Chop House Leith has brought an innovative blend of classic British steakhouse and cocktail bar to Constitution Street & is an exciting addition to the Shore’s vibrant culinary scene, brought to you by the team behind Monteiths, Sygn Bar & the White Horse Oyster Bar. Provenance is at the centre of the offer and the restaurant uses the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland. The meat is butchered on site and dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour, increase tenderness & then the beef cooked on an open flame charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Fantastic food is matched by an extensive wine list from around the world and exceptional cocktail list. Open Mon - Fri for lunch and dinner, Sat & Sun for weekend breakfast, lunch and Sunday roast! I been before, never disappointed with this place. Fillet steak it's just so delicious it's painful how good it is. Absolutely lovely place with very kind and fast service.

From the moment we walked in we had personal attention with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We went on our anniversary on a Tuesday when 'corkage club' was available so we took a very expensive bottle of red and paid £5 corkage - a great deal. We had been warned the portions were huge so sidestepped a starter in favour of sharing a dessert with a cheeky wee dessert wine. Would return in a heartbeat for another well-cooked quality steak.

Fabulous experience, wonderful food, great service with an enthusiastic smile. Pre-ordered some champagne and it was there waiting on the table for us, served right away, absolutely no trouble whatsoever. Chop House is fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll be coming back for certain!

Excellent- beautiful food and drinks - my partner said the cocktails were amazing ! All our company ordered rump steak at various cooking levels - all arrived as ordered at the same time .There is nothing to criticise here - but I would need to say that Carters/Miller or Gaucho pips it on the meat taste for me - but what a lovely meal and time we had - staff great and were happy to keep the birthday cake we brought with us - doing themselves out of a look at the sweet menu ! Tremendous

We booked online and went on a Wednesday when they offer 2 rump steaks with 2 sides for £30; the sides were great, but unfortunately our steaks were not cooked as we had asked. I had asked for mine to be medium, well-done, but nearer to the well-done, yet my steak was still very pink inside. It was also very tough, possibly just a bad cut?! Nonetheless, the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend this restaurant, would just hope that you find the cut of meat better than we found it!

Very much enjoyed our food and drinks. Can't fault those at all. We had a lovely evening. However it was extremely expensive and would only visit as a treat in the future! Wine especially is very over-priced !

As always amazing. I order the fillet every time and it never lets me down. I love the Mac and cheese and the dripping chips are incredible. We normally have the squid and prawns to start with which again have been lovely. I do really miss the bacon and cabbage side though. We live out of town and it’s worth the traipse in for how tasty it is. It’s so fab it’s busy all the time or I’d probably go more often if I could get a table.

Obviously they are so busy trying to make their newly opened restaurant successful that they have forgot how to cook steak at Leith

1. Menu comes out and the price has jumped to £36 for a fillet steak and the menu has changed...Okay okay breathe and don't panic we'll get over it and all will be fine, then out they come.

2. Steak doesnt look the same... give it a go anyway... NOPE ITS COLD, NOWHERE NEAR AS TENDER AND OVER SALTED. £36 I could have done better with a £7 Fillet from Morrisons and a BBQ

3. Chips look like the potato has been stuck through a spiralizer and are also COLD. Unable to pick up with a folk so fingers it is in a classy restaurant, no clue what is going on here

4. My bernaise sauce had not been mixed properly so all herbs were stuck to the bottom of the tiny wee bowl and it had bubbled on the top even though this was also COLD.

£102 DINNER OF COLD STEAK AND FRIED SPIRALIZED TATTIE.

We love the Chop house, have done for years. It is our New Years Eve tradition to go for the best steak in Edinburgh and we visit for every special occasion (like tonight celebrating my partners 30th birthday after a few very hard weeks), as well as random trips when I'm hungry and can't decided what to eat. I'm truely disappointed and frankly upset this has happened. My partner is a fulltime student and I am on low income while studying part time and yet we adore this place so much that we save and treat ourselves when we can. Once a month at the very least. Is this what we are to expect now that you have branched out to more restaurants, lesser quality and higher costs?

The food was good but as we were having one main course only the wait of 70 mins from ordering to service was tedious and very frustrating. The staff did not seem to be receptive to any questions about the delay in service. Also the price of £3.50 for each accompaniment (fries, greens, mushrooms etc) was excessive considering the high price of the steak itself. We won’t be back.

Lovely restaurant, good food, service & ambiance, although would only visit on a special occasion as certainly not cheap and really not fond of having to pay for every single portion of food separately. However would definitely recommend this restaurant, Steak was faultless.

I was here in Saturday night with my partner for his birthday. We eat out quite often and as much as we enjoy a steak it's quite rare that we go out for one. We both ordered sirloins with the usual sides, They were a nice big size and cooked to our liking they tasted amazing! The sides were really nice aswell. The staff were really friendly and very attentive (not in an annoying way) looking forward to dining in Chop House again.

Food was fantastic and not too pricey. We actually got a deal on our two individual rump steaks, which didn’t state on the menu, we didn’t realise about the deal in till we payed the bill at the end, unsure the reason behind that!?

One negative was that the food took 40 to 50 mins to be served and it was only once I asked about the service, that the food was served. This wasn’t ideal, because we had cinema timings to meet. There were people that come into restaurant after us and got there meal served before us.

But all in all, it was a 4 star service

Although I've lived in Leith for 2 years, this was my first visit to The Chop House and was certainly not disappointed. Everything was fantastic. The food, ambience and service was 1st class, and I have to mention the 2 girls who looked after us. They were so welcoming, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back. A must visit.

Very good service. Waitress was very attentive and explained the different cuts of steak very well. Very good wine list. Excellent oysters as starter. Main was a rib-in-beef which was perfectly cooked and very tasty but our only complaint was that it was a bit fatty. We understand that this cut is flavoursome because of its marbled fat but this time the fat competed too much with the meat. Excellent otherwise.

We nipped down to the Chop House, Leith for my husband's 40th. So warm and cosy inside and they even have heated seats! Our server, Jasmine was brilliant. A sunny Australian with a quick wit, warm nature and, patient enough to put up with our eccentricities.

Everything came promptly with no fuss and Jasmine was very knowledgeable about the food. Scallops are a must. Like God's own food. Subtle but garlicky. Yum. Our steaks were delicious and even if you don't care for blue cheese the sauce is delicious. Peppercorn sauce v spicy and vibrant.

Husband in paroxysms of pleasure at the bone marrow broth/gravy/cocktails.

The cocktail list and the delectable mixologist (awesome moustache, btw) is by far one of the most interesting I've ever come across. I promise to come back in and start tasting them one-by-one on a regular basis.

All in all, just perfect. Thank you, guys, for such a lovely evening. Hugs to Jasmine :)

visited here for a Birthday lunch before going on to the rugby. Busy, vibrant and great atmosphere. Even though they were busy our waiter was attentive and helpful without being 'in your face'. The steaks were some of the best I've ever had and cooked to perfection. Don't think I've ever had a rump steak about an inch and a half thick before!! Would highly recommend a visit here for a special occasion as it is fairly pricey.

Arrived and were seated promptly. thought the layout of the tables resulted in a 'closeness' to your other diners. The service was slow before offer of a drink and then also slow to take the order for food. The starters were good which set us up with expectation but unfortunately not. The stakes were not cooked to the requested level (Medium & medium/well done) which had to be addressed and the side dishes were very short on content resulting in us being of the opinion they were overpriced.
The whole meal was extremely expensive (wine started at £31.00 a bottle) and in Edinburgh you can get the same type of meal in a much nicer ambience for a lot less money so we will not be going back or be recommending it to anybody.
To cap the bad experience i had the water jug knocked into my lap as the patrons next to us moved out from their table which resulted in a muted apology from the patrons but the staff in the restaurant dried up the water but there was no real acknowledgement of the incident having occurred and certainly no recognition when i pointed out the tables were too close which is what had caused the spill.
We will not go back.
