Turned up after getting a reminder today to find the place closed.
Had their Sunday Roast which was delicious. Everything was so beautifully cooked. Lovely service too. Nice music.
Excellent food and service. Lovely atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend the chop house and will definitely return again! Very easy to book using open table and will use again. Concerned about access to constitution street but no problems whatsoever.
A lovely lunch option with a delicious menu! Will be back.
Staff were amazing, very accommodating and friendly. Service was fast but not rushed, they also gave my girlfriend and I a glass of Prosecco as we stated on our booking that we were celebrating an anniversary, this was a very nice touch. My only slight criticism would be the cooking of the steaks. The sauces and sides were amazing (I had the blue cheese sauce and garlic wild mushrooms), I also ordered a rare sirloin but received it medium rare. I also felt it was a little under seasoned but I understand not everyone liked their steaks seasoned heavily. The supplied salt and pepper took care of this.
Would defiantly recommend to anyone and would come back again the next time I visit Edinburgh.
Very nice restaurant ate here a few times never had any problems food is always good as is the service.
Lovely food as always and an amazing venue with always friendly staff.
Always love it here. Great quality meat and interesting cocktails.
Been before 1yr ago with friends to the market street branch. Fillet steak was smaller by 2oz and up in price. The straw fries dont work, just too thin and the onion rings were very oily needed patted down or hit air cooled. The sauce came in a really really small cooking pan, which meant only applying a little to each bite.. premium price for premium products i am fine with but this isnt right. Steak was cooked well. Starters were good, chilli squid and mini egg in brisket (its sauce was great) the table was right beside the door, I kept my fleece on the whole time. My job is a Food & Beverage manager in a 5 star establishment for 20yrs.
First trip to the chop house and absolutely loved it! Great value for money :)
Lovely meal. We booked with the intention of having the roast only to discover they stop serving at 5pm. No indication on the website.
All round excellent experience. Food was beautiful - chateaubriand cooked perfectly and sides were lovely. Very good selection of wine. Service was very good and staff were knowledgeable. We were a visitor to Edinburgh and I would highly recommend to people visiting the city. My only criticism would be that the tables are close together and too small to comfortably hold a sharing plate, 2 sides and a bottle of wine. I find that an issue in a lot of restaurants and you end up playing Tetris to try and fit everything on which is a bit annoying.
We love Chop House, top quality ingredients turned into delicious meals with obvious care and passion. Restaurant team are amazing - warm, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We eat here every week it s so good!
Great bunch of staff, great food, great atmosphere. Couldn't of had a better experience!
I would highly recommend it's a great restuarant the best steak I have ever had cooked to perfection and just the right size can't wait to revisit. The raspberry cocktail was also lovely and staff made you feel very welcome.
Best steak I’ve had in years, very tender and garlic potatoes are amazing
The meal what we received was outstanding, the minute we walked in the member of staff was very welcoming. The food was at a really high standard which I would probably go and say it’s the best meal which I have ate in a restaurant. I also was expecting to pay more , as some reviews were saying it was a little pricey. I couldn’t recommend enough.. everything about the place was excellent
Couldn’t fault our experience. The service, the food and overall experience of the place was fantastic.
Had the chatebriand was such a disappointment tastless steak no where near prime grade.
Was extremely overpriced 96 for the steak and iv had better from my local supermarket.
In the end we felt robbed and have had better steaks in Edinburgh and glasgow many times, would not reccomend.
Great meal, great service and great ambiance. Very friendly and tentative staff. Restaurant looks great and the food is perfect
Having been to Chophouse on numerous occasions, our recent visit fell short in so many ways: the fillet steak has shrunk to 250g instead of 300g but still charged at the original price. We kept having to ask for water refills and we waited over 30 minutes for our cheese board. Very disappointing, especially when we chose to support our local businesses.
Been coming for a while and definitely the poorest food and experience. Staff were great but the steak was really over cooked and a poor cut!
Excellent food and great drinks. Service was a little slow as they were busy but this did not spoil a great evening. We will be back! :-)
Good food, well prepared and served by friendly and efficient staff. Well worth a visit.
I took my boyfriend here on Wednesday night for his birthday. We were welcomed by JD who showed us to the table and gave us complimentary glasses of champagne. The food was excellent and all the staff were really lovely! We both had a steak which were done to perfection. They even brought a candle in his sticky toffee pudding. On our way out we chatted to JD who made sure we were satisfied with our experience! Overall I would definitely recommend chop house leith to anyone who is considering going. It was a wonderful place to dine! Thank you
We've set ourselves a target this year to visit new restaurants rather than keep going to the same ones. Our first outing definitely demonstrated the value of trying something new. The food at Chop House was exceptional. As they specialise in meat, we both had steaks, one fillet and one sirloin. they were tender, flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Sticky toffee pudding and the cheese selection for afters were both among the best we have tasted. Service was efficient and welcoming but not pushy. The house red was great, too. I'm sure we'll be back.
Really enjoyed the experience from start to finish, great staff and food. The lunch menu was very reasonable for the quality of the food we had - will be back!
The steak was lovely, as were the sides and the wine but the sauces to go with the steak were really disappointing and the background music was really awful. Also, the seats were heated but a little too much so I had to sit away and couldn't lean back on them because it was too hot to sit back. I'm afraid we wouldn't go back or recommend it to others.
Excellent food & service.
Have observed a marked deterioration in quality of the steak.
This time I ordered a Ribeye and it had white artery lines through it, a lot of hard grisel, was very fatty and definitely not worth the money.
I've experienced similar in the past. The quality of the produce has dropped considerably, so much so that I doubt I'll return.
Great experience at Chop House Leith. Food was amazing. I definitely recommend this place to anyone reading this. Food ordered: chicken wings, burrata, rib eye steak cooked medium rare, side of mac and cheese, side of gravy mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. Especially the steak and the mac and cheese. Until next time
We went for lunch on Friday 3rd January. We were the first people there and by the time we left there were 3 tables in total. It was not busy, so you would expect a steakhouse, that was quiet, to not overcook a steak but they did. The speed of service from ordering to table was also poor. We had one starter and two mains and we were seated for 1hr 40 mins with the majority of the first hour we were the only ones in the restaurant.
Overall, we’ve had a bad experience before with this restaurant and poor quality of the food but persisted only down to the fact we had a voucher! Safe to say, there are far better steak restaurants out there to go to rather than this one and recommend anyone who is considering this restaurant, to reconsider.
we left after 15 minutes of been there. the staff were incredibly rude, not accommodating to children as we had a 5 year old with us. we were really looking forward to dining here but it really wasn't a pleasant experience.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and I also told the manager what we thought of the place and she didn't seem to care one bit.
Highly recommend CHL as the place to go for a solid martini, steak and wine experience. We started out with Lind and Lime dry martinis, perfectly mixed. We went with sirloin steaks - one medium rare, one rare - both were on the mark! We kept it simple with potatoes - mash and gravy and garlic potatoes and were not disappointed. As a great steak deserves a great wine pairing, CHL delivers. We took a glass of the Le Bosq Rouge and Saints Marie Des Crozes - L’outsider. Both perfect for our respective palates and preferences.
Our server Oliver was helpful and attentive, ensuring we had a memorable dining experience.
I did the reservation in the app selecting an offer for 5 people and I understood the offer included one piece of beef plus chips. When I arrived it was normal menu duplicating the cost
Visiting family in Edinburgh and wanted a lovely steak dinner. The Chop House provided that evening for us. Our Rib eyes were prepared beautifully to order. Sides were fun to share and delicious. Dessert was yummy and a wonderful finish to our meal Sticky pudding the best.
An absolutely amazing experience. The quality of the steaks were superb. Definitely one of the best steak houses we’ve ever been to. It is expensive but you are paying for quality. Will be back.
When you view food photos online that have been professionally taken, there’s always a heightened expectation. The team that looked after us were amazing and the food superb !! Exceeded expectation Thanks
