Really lovely evening for my partners birthday, also a lovely lady that served us.
Always love our dinners here, the food is great as are the staff. But the last couple of times have felt very under-staffed and it has felt like we have been forgotten a bit, having to get up and ask for the bill after already asking for it. But all in all a great experience and will be coming back
The restaurant was not open and we had to eat somewhere else
It was closed. Looked like it had gone bust. Do you not know this, Open Table? Bit embarrassing to book us a table at a closed restaurant. Please do better.
Cancelled late afternoon as we was ment to dine on the evening with not even a option to re book for another time. Not very good from a restaurant of there standard
End to a great "Italian Night"
Having ventured into town for a music night at Symphony Hall we usually go to this restsurant. Not having been back since lock down we were not sure
What the food and service would be like. Not to worry still terrific service and food as good as ever. Great night great food...glad you are still open...people go and support it!!
The food was fantastic, lovely atmosphere!
Excellent food and overall visit. Thank you very much.
One of our favourite restaurants for many years and was looking forward to returning. The changes in staff particularly with no George has had an impact on the service which was to say the least dissapointing, the food remained good quality, but the evening was spolit due to very poor service.
A typically good showing from Cielo - always the first port of call for Italian in Birmingham.
Booked for a birthday meal on 28th December for a group of 4. When it came to ordering, they informed us that they didn’t have some of the starters or mains we wanted to order. I appreciate this can happen but usually I’d expect to be told when seated rather than when trying to order. They then didn’t have the wine we wanted to order (so we had to order a more expensive bottle) and then didn’t have the desserts we wanted! No apology and no ‘gesture’ made by the restaurant, despite a bill amounting to over £250. Two tables next to us were also commenting that the restaurant didn’t seem to have anything they wanted to order. We all ended up having a laugh about it, otherwise it would’ve been an evening ruined through complaining. Nothing special done to mark the birthday either. Disappointed with the whole evening and won’t be returning.
Rude and unwelcoming staff! I reserved a table online and received a confirmation email and a text message, but when I went to the restaurant, the guy at the door said they have no table for us because they don't accept online reservations!
Amazing food , quiet and beautiful surroundings . Totally enjoyed our meal.
Staff were very attentive and courteous
We opted for the Christmas menu, while not particularly cheap, was nice with reasonable options. It was a very quiet lunchtime with only one other table - which was a shame as it deserved more in than that. The staff were pleasant and we had a lovely time
Fabulous food, great service. Thoroughly enjoyable experience
A very nice meal with attentive service. I feel so sorry that because of corvid there were so few other diners to enjoy what we enjoyed.
Been to Cielo many times, same high standard as ever. Christmas dinner was excellent. Excellent evening in spite of Covid restrictions.
Couldn't fault the food but the price is shocking! Three 3 course meals 3 drinks (2 half's and a Martini) a bottle of wine (£24 - one of the cheapest) bottle of water and 2 coffees £185 ! Bread (4 small rolls) and olives £4.50. Medium sized bottle of water £4.50! But the biggest shock.....not one of the staff wore a mask!
Very good food, staff very helpful and pleasant.
Restaurant wasn't noisy and could hear your self talk .
Went for a Christmas lunch with three colleagues. We had booked to sit outside but found that they weren't serving outside (it is December after all). This was fine, as the restaurant was quiet and we felt it was very safe with good ventilation and space between the diners. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. Two of the group are gluten free and there were many options for them and the waitress knew which dishes were suitable. I was driving so asked for a non-alcoholic cocktail as there weren't any on the menu and the waitress just asked me what style of cocktail I wanted as they could make them whichever without alcohol. I went for a Mojito-style which was very tasty and didn't actually need any alcohol.
All of us enjoyed what we ordered, I had Bruschetta to start with and the seafood linguine as a main which had a wide variety of different seafood and tasted great. We were offered extra pepper and parmesan both with the starters and main courses. We were too full for desserts and instead had coffees to finish our meal. The meal came to £152 for four of us (we didn't have any wine, just two beers), which is quite a lot but definitely worth it for a special occasion. Will go back.
Excellent menu, lovely food and brilliant service. Thank you
Ceilo is our favourite restaurant in Birmingham . Tuesday lunchtime immediately after the government warning about Omicron the previous day apparently meant that many people cancelled their bookings . I was so sorry for the staff in these circumstances and thats why the ambience was not its usual self and that the feeling was quiet . Very best wishes to Ceilo for the future .
Excellent food and great service from friendly and attentive staff. A thoroughly enjoyable family occasion. Well done to all concerned
Whilst we enjoyed our visit yesterday we missed the presents of Goegeo the previous manager.
This is my husband's favourite restaurant. It has a relaxed, unstuffy atmosphere but serves very good food. It is an Italian, not like some so called Italian restaurants. The service is attentive without being over bearing. Will go again.
Lovely restaurant, food was very tasty and we received excellent service.
Really lovely and leisurely lunch prior to theatre matinee. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. Service was excellent and we liked that we weren’t rushed and were able to linger over our meal until it was time to leave for the theatre.
Great place, great food, and the service is amazing.
The restaurant is well run, clean and the staff are very efficient. Food is good. i will return.
Excellent food, drink and service. Lovely staff. We’ll be back
Delicious food, friendly attentive staff, lovely environment. Would happily return.
The food was beyond delicious and table service 10/ 10. Great music, ambience and decor! I’m coming back and I’ll definitely recommend it to friends.
Food was excellent, service a little slow and we had too remind about items ordered a couple of times as we had been forgotten. Would definitely come back again though
Food and service always consistent varying from very good to excellent
Great food and lovely service. Such a pretty atmosphere too
I have gone to Cielo for some years now, generally on special occasions or as a treat.
May I say how truly disappointing our recent visit was, I am not sure if this is due to a change of ownership as the gentleman that greeted us looked positively miserable, he looked like the manager.
I had a risotto which was not particularly nice at all and very insipid looking. My sister did enjoy her salmon, so maybe I picked the wrong thing.
Needless to say things have definitely changed at Cielo, as we were always greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly chat, but not on this occasion.
Very sad, as I would be reluctant to visit again as the service wasn't great.
Fantastic food , service, atmosphere.great value. We will be back soon
Beautiful and well presented food - great service
Excellent food , really enjoyed our meal , will definitely return
On entering we advised we had a booking the gentleman looked at his screen leaving us with the feeling we hadn’t booked or had the wrong night. However he took us to a table without as much as a hello or welcome. Service from our waitress started well. Drink and food taken at the same time and both arrived quickly. The food was good portions and tasty. We then got asked if we would like the dessert menu which arrived and we were then left. 45 minutes later someone asked if we wanted dessert but we’d pasted that. We requested tea and coffee and that took an age. The bill was requested which included a service charge and when the card machine arrived the figure was out in and not handed to us so little option but to pay it. I was aware that the waitresses were apologising to other tables for the delay. The restaurant was busy but not full. The ladies toilets freezing as well. Tables packed in too much in current climate. One of the waitresses rammed her hip into the corner or a table trying to squeeze through. No one said thank you for coming or have a nice evening as we left. Didn’t really feel valued.

Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting bookings at the moment.
