City Social - Restaurant
Lunch: 12pm - 2:30pm (last orders for food - 2.45pm)
Dinner: 6pm - 10:30pm (last orders for food - 10.45pm)
NCP at Finsbury Square.
Food was excellent - and service very accommodating as we had the 14.30 slot - they were very patient with us .
Had gnocchi and the linguinie/ both incredibly presented .
The apple tart was one of the best we have tasted . Will be back again
The host was great however I only enjoyed my started which was scallops. The main and desert was not to my liking.
Another great visit to City Social. It has such a different atmosphere in the winter months as the outside view is London lights.
We arrived late due to problems with the trains but the staff were accommodating (and we had tried to cll to advise we would be late) and it wasn't such a big problem. The food was great as always with the starter of Ox cheek and truffle tortellini being amazing. This was followed by venison - nicely cooked and lamb - lots of flavour. We had to have the souffle and the rum baba which have become firm favourites. Friendly and professional staff as well adds to the ambience.
The evening was excellent. Views amazing! Staff very attentive. Food delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant
Highly recommended ‘event’ restaurant with food to match the spectacular views. Great wine list too.
Outstanding views over the City. The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and attentive. Food was delicious - a lovely experience overall.
The restaurant has changed since my last visit a couple of years ago. It was such a disappointment. It looks shabby and sad. There was an overcrowded table next to us. The level of shouting was unacceptable.
We sat for about 15 minutes before getting a menu or wine list. We were sitting for a further 20 or so minutes before our orders were taken. We had received our starters before our wine arrived. My son’s steak was over cooked - he ordered medium rare but it was nearer to medium and my daughters rabbit was in her words inedible which given that we were there for her birthday was a great shame. Overall I won’t be back and won’t be recommending the place to anybody else either.
Fantastic location with great service and amazing views, the food was great and the little anniversary surprise at the end just put the cherry on the top, brilliant from start to finish, couldn’t ask for any more.
Tables were too close together to be comfortable. Portion size for meat main dish was small for the price.
Absolutely fantastic evening. Food was superb and the atmosphere and service outstanding
loved the bar although it's quite noisy and dark it might not be for everyone(visited on a Friday night). food and drink was all excellent and the views of London are some of the best I've ever seen
Excellent service & food, definitely worth the money & would 100% recommend.
Absolutely great cocktails, food was amazing, highly recommended.
I love this place, every time we go the food, since, service, and importantly atmosphere are just fantastic.
The starters was good and creative, but the main course not really nice as expected. The table was nice position which in front of the views. The services was good and friendly too.
Nice restaurant, service generally very good, initial welcome from hostess somewhat cold and unhelpful (would not give window seat even though one clearly available , which waiter quickly moved us to) . Other waiting staff very helpful. Food superb, very good taste. Restaurant was quite noisy and lighting a bit weird but that could have been to preserve night time view out of window. Very difficult to find, entrance down a dark but open passage with no lit sign to show entrance.
We were welcomed like old friends (although only our first visit) and drinks at the bar was faultless, but then... Service in the restaurant was less than attentive (constantly waiting to attract someone's attention), disorganised and bordered on the abrupt. Surely, for a table of three, the waiting staff should know who ordered what dishes and to be asked "you finished?" (yes, exactly in that matter) when the table has just been cleared following the main course was all very unprofessional. The food was lovely, but come on, can't you do better than oatcakes and cream crackers with the cheese board? For a 1 Michelin star, I feel that the experience should be exceptional and special with kitchen and front of house playing their parts seamlessly. In our case the restaurant waiting staff have a thing or two to learn. Jason Atherton recently commented in The Times about his Pollen Street Social, “It’s not fudging good enough. They’ve all got their heads up their arse so I’ve just given them all a rocket,” he says. “I told them, ‘The experience here has got to be perfect.’ My staff might work here three or four years. I am here for ever.” Perhaps Mr Atherton should visit his City Social at service and convey the same attitude.
Dissapointing. Was looking forward to going but have to say service was painfully slow (nearly 1hr for mains) and then an eternity on the bill. Sadly food wasnt as i remembered. A very off day at city social. Wont be rushing to go back.
Great waiting staff who gave us very good recommendations on the fish dishes. The food is slightly on the expensive side but worth every penny.
The food came out on time. I had the young chick dish which was absolutely amazing for mains and scallops for starters which was delicious. The presentation of the food was fantastic.
I would highly recommend going to this restaurant for any occasion.
Before i explain the downer: this is a good restaurant!
And now the downer: although i booked weeks and advance and i indicated that i wanted a window table, they ignored that and put me in a corner that made it absolutely pointless to eat on a high floor of a high-rise building.
The atmosphere / decoration / ambiance is ... nothing... no soul, no nothing. It leaves zero impression in you. I'm pretty sure they've spent quite some money on it and it is a * restaurant, for Bocues's sake, so they could probably do a bit better with this space.
Anyway, the service is excellent, the waiters, the sommelier are great. The food is really good - 1 piece of lamb was a wee but uncooked, but that's all i could complain. And all this at a very reasonable price level!!!
Go try it!
Disappointing service, food ok, restaurant is old, jaded and needs some update
Service was not what can be expected
Delicious food, superb cocktails and of course the great view.
Great restaurant with amazing food and service to match. And the view tops everything off nicely.
We had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent, if a little too quick. The flavours in the dishes were outstanding. I feel the drinks are a bit overpriced.
Certainly a restaurant for special occasions as it is an expensive restaurant. We ordered two appetisers, two mains, a risotto and two bottles of the cheapest wine. This costed us GBP300.
The wine list was extensive and was great even though we ordered the cheapest one out of the list.
The bar area is quite loud and might overwhelm a guest so please ask to be seated at the far end of the dining area so it is not noisy.
In terms of the food, the appetisers were beautiful. We tried the scallops and pig trotters, they were delicious, very good flavours.
For mains, I tried the steak. It was not as tender as I expected, even though it was medium-rare. The risotto was a bit bland. The ravioli was delicious, but there was no hint of truffle flavour.
We didn't order dessert, and because we didn't they just gave us a small slice of cake in a small box to acknowledge my birthday.
Overall, the experience was good but the food was not as satisfying as I hoped it to be. It was my birthday celebration and we left slightly disappointed, hungry and unsatisfied. It just felt expensive, that's all.
The view was amazing and the service was exceptional.
Outstanding food and service as always, my clients are continually impressed with variety of menu and delivery
The food was brilliant and we particularly liked the champagne trolley!
A top class establishment providing great food at a reasonable price. The skyline is very good and offers wide views over a lot of landmarks.
The menu is quite wide-ranging and nicely varied. Quality was top rate.
The service was excellent with great attention to detail coupled with nice touches. This was a special occasion, a birthday, and a quiet secluded area was asked for, and delivered, along with an exceptional view to accompany the seating. Although not requested for a birthday cake was delivered when the dessert course came, a truly excellent touch.
In all a highly recommended restaurant, where top class food can be expected, ideal for that truly special occasion when only the best will do. Guaranteed to impress.
Fantastic food, great service, amazing view
Will definitely be going back
Really great view, fantastic food and service. Highly recommended.
The restaurant ambiance was good and staff were friendly and attentive.
There were however some negatives, I asked for candles in the dessert as it was my girlfriends birthday and this did not happen.
We were recommended to have the cote du boeuf however, they had run out of this and had run out of fillet steak. Which was extremely disappointing.
Wonderful food and the staff was very attentive. Rather disappointing that 2 of the Sancerres we requested had run out, but we managed to get our third option. All in all very good evening out though.
Great. Love this place still. Service was slow a couple of times.
Biggest issue is that on the way to where I know the bar toilets are, I was instead directed to facilities just off the entrance. By comparison to the others, these were nasty - could’ve been in a dodgy dive bar by the standard. Sort it out!
Great restaurant though.
Dreadful service, lousy manager, will never return!
I have been to City Social a few times for business meals but this time I took my husband there for a surprise birthday lunch and we had a wonderful time.
I had informed the restaurant that we were celebrating a birthday and we were given a great table by the window, they also surprised him with cake at the end of our meal.
The food was delightful and the staff courteous and attentive. It really did feel like very a special occasion!
I spent a lovely evening with my best friend here. We did not get a table with view on London, which I think is the plus of this restaurant. Lovely food and great service. I loved my rabbit saddle. I was however quite chocked by the price by the glass of the wine. I will go again but insist for a better table
Very slow service
Food was amazing , good atmosphere but the service could have been better. Service was slow but the staff were very nice. On booking I mentioned it was a special celebration but there was no knowledge to staff when we arrived. Also requested a window table on booking as it was a Birthday celebration but on arrival one wasn’t available so we had to wait hour before being seated. But apart from that it was a lovely evening .
The food was wonderful and beautifully presented. Service could be much better, there was a huge delay from ordering aperitifs and cocktails to delivery, and seemingly poor communication, between staff. Ladies toilets were not the standard expected in such a restaurant.
