City Tap House - UC
Service was bad but the server said she got slammed with multiple tables all at once and then took 25% off of our bill to make up for it so we were happy with that! Food was okay.
a few of my most closes fiends ate there and it was excellent!
The food was very good. The staff was very mellow. The location is in the U Penn dorm area, so it’s much more casual than its website implies. Would go back.
Wings were not as good as they were a few years ago when I came. Only one option for wing flavor.
Love! Try the penang muscles, they are so good.
I love this place. Food and ambiance are great. The server I had Friday night was also great (table 81 in the back, girl with dreads) HOWEVER, citytap in university city has the WORST bartenders I have ever encountered. So RUDE!!!!! They don’t make eye contact or even acknowledge your presence when you walk up to the bar!! They actually IGNORE customers for long stretches of time and when they do choose to recognize that you exist and they need you to make money, they treat you like they’re doing you a favor getting you a drink. I gave 1 star only because of the cool waitress who served me that night when I left the bar to eat at a table. Time to clean house boss.
The restaurant was so hot. It was probably cooler outside on the patio. After we were seated we must have sat for about 10-15 minutes before a anyone acknowledged us. An apparent mix up of tables. Our appetizer came out with our dinner. Food was very good but we had trouble enjoying it because of the sweat dripping. Service was just ok. We were afterthought and our waiter kept disappearing.
Great food! Excellent service!
The food was excellent, however the music was a bit too loud which made conversation difficult. The service was on the slower slide. We had our toddler with us and while the food and staff were great, the slower service made it challenging. On the upside, there is plenty of space outside for our toddler to run around and the kid sized pizza was HUGE (about 10 inches in diameter with a full 8 slices)!!! Would definitely return for the food.
Food was delish, waitstaff perfect, what more can you ask for?
I go here SPECIFICALLY for the shrimp and grits. I was so upset to find out they were removed from the menu. Hush Puppies were still available and DELICIOUS as ever.
Service was superb as usual.
Very good food and beer selection. Nice outdoor eating area. Good place for a casual meal.
Great food and service! Great beer list too. Will plan to visit again soon
Food was good, ordered 2 appetizers and 3 meals (1 kid). Food service was prompt. The drink menu is good, our server did not know much about the beers, which I would think should be a priority at a tap house. Overall, a good meal and a good value.
It was very hot and although not crowded we didn’t get attention for about 10 minutes from being seated. Not even water.
Sought out the venue for a specific beer week event that was advertised to start at 11:00a. Upon arrival (after 11) kegs were not tapped and ready to pour. In addition ordered a snack, while scrumptious did not include all items in the description which was disappointing. Staff was friendly and venue was beautiful... great for a ladies brunch!
We loved out waitress Sarah, she was awesome and super sweet!
I was served hair with salad on top. So disgusting and so unappetizing. The server didn’t seem all too apologetic but she did bring me another salad. And then she charged me for it. Ummm, really?
Diane was a great waitress, very friendly and attentive. Turkey club on a gluten-free roll was delicious as was the garden salad that came with it. Kudos to City Tap House for not charging me for the gluten-free bun. I’ll definitely be back even though the music was too loud for my comfort. Thanks for a great lunch!!
I always recommend CityTap to people if they’re in the area. Great food, great people! Always a happy atmosphere, very upbeat. The bar has pretty much everything you could ask for, Bloody Marys are best! Chicken wings are a must & if you’re there on a Monday, totally go with the taco special!
Solid choice for dinner or brunch. It’s our go-to place for Mothers Day brunch and seasonal family get-togethers. Handicap accessible and accommodating of children. Great craft beer and cocktail selections.
We have a group of 10 for a post race celebration and the service and food were great.
Really nice vibe. Food and drinks were good. Second time going and I think I'll go again
WAY TOO LOUD! the Friday night music was not live but so loud we couldn’t talk without shouting. Bouncer was rude as well when demanding ID from patrons over 50 years of age. Not sure I would go back....
Great food and the service was excellent. Loved the decor as well. I will definitely go back when the weather is warm to sit outside in the balcony area
It's good for brunch and celebrating birthdays. We enjoyed it.
Our waitress was very nice and very persistent
Previous experience was 4 stars across the board. This visit, service was not on point and the steak was really raw vs medium rare. Still, the location, food quality and ambiance are nice and will try again on another occasion.
Great food & service, but a bit pricey for a pub/bar on Saturday afternoon.
Very good, we were there for Sunday Brunch, service was very attentive and great selection of food.
We popped in for a very late lunch or early dinner on a Tuesday. It was empty but we had the nicest server, great food, clean tables.
Food was overly priced and very little portion. I only had 3 shrimp in fried shrimp relleno. Also very limited food option.
Very enjoyable -- good tasty food, excellent service, good brews!
Ordinarily we would not have tried the City Tap House, but we needed a convenient spot for an early, pre-concert dinner. The Web site made it look interesting. I won't say it was inaccurate, but the reality turned out to be more toward "cavernous sports bar" than I had imagined. At 1800 hrs on Sunday the Muzak playlist sounded like our high school & college mixers-early '70s. That was fine, and the overall noise level allowed normal conversation.
We both ordered the the daily special, rib-eye steak. The steaks were not thick, were properly seared, and were over-marinated in tenderizer. My wife's medium was OK; my "rare: red but not purple" was purple. The sides were pretty good: mixed pepper compote and grilled spinach. Desserts and coffee were also good.
The beer list looked extensive and interesting, but we weren't up for it that evening. The wine list was appropriate to the menu. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir were adequate with the steak but not notable in themselves.
Dianne, our server, went above and beyond to assure our time spent on City Tap UC was enjoyable. We enjoyed EVERY morsel.
Great service, excellent food, and welcoming atmosphere
It was very mediocre for a place trying to be something more than just a bar.
Third time at City Tap University City and this time we left disappointed. A recent redesign of the menu meant there were no gluten free menus, but the hostess said the wait staff would be able to make recommendations. The waitress struggled with that and I ended up going with a burger on a gluten free bun because I didn't feel secure ordering anything else. The burger was very dry and the GF bun even drier. The rest of the group ordered the fried chicken sandwich and were very happy with it. So overall, a mixed experience.
A neat little twist on typical pub fare ... the food was very tasty. Definitely a good to place to watch a game with friends or family. My 12 and 14 year old fit in fine during some Saturday night college football!
Thanks for the feedback. it's appreciated! Glad the family enjoyed their experience.
We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and were immediately seated. The server was awesome. When the beer I selected was kicked, she made a suggestion (along with a sample) which I went with and I couldn't have been more pleased. The pig wings and corn dip were enjoyed by the 6 of us and all the meals were delicious. If I had one complaint it would be that the 3 pizzas/flatbreads arrived about 5 minutes after the 2 sandwiches and Country Fried Steak. Because it was family, no one was offended that 3 of us started to eat while the other 3 waited. Overall a great experience and I'll definitely be back!
