Top class cooking and top class service from this old school restaurant in Kensington. Always packed with a well-healed Kensington crowd. Prices are high. No mineral water so take your own if you don't want filtered tap.
The perfect birthday experience for my guest. We wanted a quiet corner table, which is what we got, and our charming Australian waiter looked after us beautifully. The food was delicious, on every level and at every course. I shall be back.
Always a terrific experience at Clarke’s. Truly one of the best restaurants in London. Sally and her staff are the finest. Cannot give higher praise! Michelin needs to take note.
I haven't been to Clarke's for a while and went with some dear friends from Chile. The food was delicious, using local ingredients imaginatively and the staff were great; helping us all though our choices. I will be back soon.
I had a wonderful dinner with friends last Friday night. The menu was excellent--only difficulty is choosing from so many great possibilities. Service, headed by Captain Theo, was excellent as well--warm but efficient. I would highly recommend for a great experience.
First time visit. Warm welcome, great service bread amazing. Did not have to wait for the food which was very good. Did not feel rushed at anytime. Will definitely book again
I love Clark’s and would never visit London without a visit. The ingredients are so beautifully sourced and so lovingly cooked. We were the table from hell. Changed numbers and times too frequently and two vegans and two gluten free and they dealt with it beautifully. Always have a good time there.
Wonderful food, excellent and friendly service, calm and relaxing ambience - a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
A beautiful calm restaurant with delicious food and excellent service.
Dining at Clarke's has become a 'first night in London' tradition because the food is of the highest quality and flavor. Highly recommend.
Anniversary lunch...beautifully done.
Important to book an early table as the more popular menu choices tend to be snapped up early
This is one of our most favourite restaurants. It has everything. Style, ambience, fabulous food and wines. Top service. Yet homely with all of that... we LOVE it all. With thanks, Bongo and Steve Cooke
Top in every way! A pleasure to see such a great classic restaurant in London which you can rely on overall and that hasn’t been spoilt by skimping on service and quality as many other “fashionable” restaurants have . Great value weekday lunch menu.
I think Clarke's is one of the biggest jewels Notting Hill/London has! They have a delicious breakfast that is both sophisticated and relaxed, a very nice lunch menu, and one of the best dinner experiences around. The food is amazing, the wine list is excellent, the service is sharp, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ambiance for lunch and breakfast is bright and cheerful while the dinner mode is romantic and feels like a very special treat. I love this place!
I have only given a medium rating for the food because over the last year or so that I have been visiting Clarke's the set menu for lunch has been essentially unchanged, always the main course of cod and same starter salad. A lovely dish but unchanging. Surely this set menu could be changed frequently?
We were a somewhat chaotic table of 5 but all our requests were dealt with efficiently and with a smile. The food was outstanding; perhaps a tad too large servings but no one suffered for that. Baked artichoke and bottarga starters were well received and the veal fillet, duck, deer and John Dory were all superb. We found the ambience to be elegant with a few deft touches of humour and the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive throughout the meal.
The restaurant is always busy. The food reliably good. The menu perhaps not as varied and changing but I love the cuisine so perhaps I am happy that it doesn’t change very much as I keep coming back. The Fraud prints on the walls are fabulous.
I have been to Clarke’s numerous times but this was the first time I was sat in the back room and I think one must insist on the front room or not go at all.
Fabulous dinner as always, excellent service , relaxed and comfortable atmosphere
Always so delicious - from the Perfectly mixed martinis and blood orange Bellinis to the indulgent caviar and homemade blinis to the out of this world chicken and veal chops and fish to the decadent and delightful desserts. Sally knocks it out of the park every time!
Food simply done but lovely
Outstanding. One of the best meals I've had in a long long time.
Exceptional meal in all respects. Highly recommended.
I have not been to the restaurant for many years, and remember a set menu in a basement. We had a very good evening, with old friends, when the staff could not have been better, we could hear each other, and the set menu was excellent
First class in every respect
Still Wonderful After All These Years
I can't remember exactly when we first ate dinner at Clarke's, but it must have been 25 years ago. Yet, somehow, the standard manages to remain consistently excellent. Every detail, from just the right gentle light to careful acoustical design to control the noise levels, to using really boiling water for making tea is thought through and correct. The food, always seasonal, bringing out the excellence of the ingredients, is simply a delight. The wine list is excellent and ranges wide, but this is where quite a lot of the money has to be made. This is the restaurant where you can savour food, wine and conversation without waiters interrupting to enquire "how's your food". Many of the staff have been with Clarke's for a long time and they do their job well. Service was just slightly slow on this visit, as there was a large party booking, downstairs. Our waiter apologised for the delay, but it was but slight. I can think of few better places for an excellent civilised dinner in London.
Classic but not old fashioned restaurant with beautiful setting, fantastic fresh food and quality service.
We had a lovely evening and the food and service was excellent. We I appreciated being in the quieter room at the back as we do find the restaurant quite noisy which is probably because of the acoustics.
classy and classic. delicious food upscale vibe
Perfect from start to finish : delicious food , presentation , service, atmosphere, attention of the team to details
Amazing as always.
I had a delightful lunch with friends. The food, as always, was excellent and the service equally good. Very relaxing and wonderful experience!
Tasteful, understated and delicious food. Quality ingredients, generous portions, understated luxury, what’s not to like!!
Clarke’s is consistently outstanding — Sally Clarke knocks it out of the park every time, whether it is a deceptively simple yet sublime mushroom salad or an exquisitely cooked to perfection fish to her unforgettable chocolate truffles.
As usual Clarkes had an excellent seasonal menu choice. Food was delicious as always. Highly recommend the restaurant. Nice and spacious so conversations are private. Very good service although wine pourer a little scarce. Would definitely return.
One of my favourite local restaurants. We return over and over again. This week's breakfast was as delicious as ever.
We made a last minute booking at 9:30pm, having been to an event next door which left part of our group hungry.
The food was very good as usual. But it was late and half the table were not hungry and ordered only starters. The waiter told me this was unacceptable as he was seating us, despite the other half ordering full meals.
I would have left, but I was with visitors I did not know well, who were new to London, and I did not want to ruin the evening for those who were hungry. Odd behaviour at the end of a week night, with several tables in the restaurant empty.
