Located next to Smithfield market near Farringdon, Barbican and St Paul's, Club Gascon boasts a stunning menu with dishes that focus on the very finest ingredients from the South West of France.

In the elegant yet relaxed dining room, diners are advised to choose three or four dishes from the superb à la carte menu or to be guided by the chef 's selection menu which continues to excite and delight.

The Wine Cellar is as fascinating as it is extensive, composed of over four hundred varieties of wine from the South of France.

Excellent food, and the sommeliers wine pairings were spot on.

Only real gripe was that the service was slow. We were seated at 8pm and didn’t finish until 11.10pm, so about an hour or so too long.

A gem in Clerkenwell! Service attentive but not intrusive - excellent and informative sommelier suggestions. I had the "Dejeuner Club" 3 course lunch menu - a steal at 40 GBP. Foie gras "Brulee" was literally a savoury creme brulee (duh - delicious but I perhaps should have sprung for the barbecued version supplement). Venison (+18 supplement) and souffle were flawless. Wine pairings (suggested) very good and reasonably priced. The way I drink (!) my lunch bill came to 128 GBP - I will be back.

A sensational dining experience. Superb levels of service, exquisite food and a lovely setting. Both dinners had either an allergy or an intolerance but these never pose a challenge for the restaurant, alternatives are provided and care taken. The Sommelier is superb and provides excellent pairings which never disappoint. All in all a wonderful meal, highly recommended. Club Gascon never disappoints.

Club Gascon is one of the finest restaurants that we have visited in London. The food was exceptional for our lunch time visit. We chose the set menu which was imaginative , unusual and delicious. The service and ambiance were impeccable. The intimacy of the dining area added to it's charm.

We would highly recommend Club Gascon and look forward to returning in the near future.

A lovely meal, the first four maybe five courses were fantastic. The puddings were a little to be desired of, but generally one of the better tasting menus around. Well worth a star.

I came here (for the 2nd time) with my boyfriend for his birthday. We had exceptional food and service - the standout was the Foie Gras for which this restaurant is renowned. Extraordanarily good value, and having eaten at numerous Michelin Starred establishments recently, this truly stood out. The Birthday Card from Head Chef Pascal Aussignac was particularly appreciated; we will be back!

The excellent food seems to have been turbocharged. The old crackling egg is back, while the new dishes are 10/10 as far as our table was concerned. The geranium pallet cleanser was spot on, with just the desert course being a teeny bit weak.
Wine list has expanded and on our visit their top league sommelieuse is back - and she helped us in just the right way. The other younger sommelier could however learn to smile - in a selling job we wonder how that works for him!Nonetheless his more experienced senior was excellent - even dealing well with a wine know it all from the trade at the next table (who was getting boring to listen to - being too noises to filter our). Managing that takes panache and confidence so well done to her.
Can’t wait to return.

Some of the dishes were excellent some were just horrible. Out of the 7 dish taster menu 3 of the set dishes were suberb. Rest 4 not that great.

All the additional dishes, canapes etc were really good and loved the display.

The sommelier did not speak understandable English, so was fairly useless

Great all round meal. Service excellent, including sommelier. The decor and ambiance are excellent. Foie gras to start was a pleasure, and finished with a nice cheese selection. The main issue for me was the main course. Had four choices. Stared at the menu for a while wishing there were more choices as none of the four appealed very much. Chose the fallow deer. The plate arrived with four cubes on it, occupying about a third of the plate. My first assumption was that they would bring the deer separately. It turned out that one of the cubes was the deer. A bit minimalist!

Still it was a very enjoyable meal.

The last time I was at this place - I thought the food and service were excellent- sadly, The maitre de was a bit arsey, and off handing and that seem to set the tone of the rest of our lunch.
The drinks were ordered after Amuse bouche arrived, so you can imagine that the kitchen was ahead of the lethargic front of house service!
The sommelier was a nice friendly lady, who enjoyed Sharing her experiences and her love of wines, so she actually recovered a bit of the afternoon - the Maitre de was ignored by us and carried on with his grump! - perhaps he did not like the English winter we have just begun!
I am always impressed with the chef, and this restaurant never disappoints- I had the mushroom starter, lamb main and cheese- all served beautifully and the flavours and seasoning was perfect - amazing overall except null point (need a French accent) for the Man in the front of house .

We had 5 courses with wine pairings from the autumn menu - all very interesting and beautifully cooked and presented . The sommelier took time to explain each of the wines, all of which we really enjoyed. We left very well educated about these and other wines from SW France. Service was impeccable but friendly. I used to be a regular but had not been for a few years. If anything it was an even better experience.
My only nitpicky criticism is that the monkfish was a tiny bit overcooked. The other courses more than made up. Thoroughly recommended for a business lunch or special occasion dinner.

Many many plusses and one minus. The minus first. it was a rainy evening and traffic was atrocious. We arrived 10 minutes late and they had already given our table away. We had to make noise to get a table, not a great start to a birthday celebration. But after that it was great. Seven course taster was really ten courses and every single delicious course was innovative with great depth of flavour! Highly recommend this place.

We visited Club Gascon for lunch on a Tuesday. Whilst the restaurant was not full there were enough diners to make a pleasant ambience. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu & were not disappointed. It was not just a meal but a true dining experience. Each course had an exquisite taste and whilst the portions are small we certainly had enough to fill us up! Service was excellent Very relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

My son, a chef, and I go out to dinner occasionally just for the joy of experiencing cuisine we can talk about together. Club Gascon provided exactly that. We had the 5 course autumn tasting menu and the wine flight, and every mouthful of every plate was a joy, paired perfectly with some unexpected wines. Son abandoned me to go and meet the chef after the dessert - and clearly enjoyed that as well. Service is perfectly discreet and intimate.

Very nice French restaurant, sober but tastefully decorated. Had a 7 courses discovery menu, it was an enchantment for the palate, various combinations of flavours and texture dish after dish, the visuals are also part of the experience you eat with your eyes as much as your eyes. A wonderful dinner.

I visited Club Gascon in its first month of opening far too many years ago.... the restaurant has become one of my all time favourite places to eat in the planet

The food is outstanding innovative and a delight and if you can take the wine pairings which always amaze

The atmosphere is always reserved and the staff attentive without being over the top. I love this place

Food delicious. Starlevel fullfilled.
Strict no trainers policy, checked via phone, been allowed to show up with trainers. So would recommend phoning first. This policy is acceptable for uk natives but is unsettling for cosmopolitans.
Sommelier appeals too arrogant and not dedicated enough for that high standard. One of the wines for the seven course menu was unacceptable.

A very imaginative cuisine around very classic ingredients.
A very welcoming atmosphere and service.
The amuse bouche are very interesting.
The current theme seems to be very “surf and Turf” mixing a lot of earth and sea products. The result is Interesting, curious, but may not be of the taste of everybody.
A must do place though...

Schönes, ruhiges Restaurant. Gut gelegen. Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Stimmige Weinbegleitung bzw. Empfehlungen. Schöne Auswahl offener Weine. Zwei leckere lokale Biersorten. Menü (5-7 Gänge) war uns zu viel, haben Starter mit Hauptgang kombiniert. Essen war aromatisch gut abgestimmt, Portionen typisch überschaubar, aber dank sehr leckeren Brot wurden wir satt.
