Clyde's of Gallery Place
Michael was wonderful. Food was fast and hot and prepared to order. Crab cakes were delicious. Hanger stake was tender, cooked perfectly and tasty. Martinis were great, thank you!
The service was slow and rushed after a while, people who sat down after us was served before me and the waiter seemed overwhelmed. It took so long just for someone to acknowledge us at the table.
Our server initially was very energetic and pleasing. He took our order, brought our drinks, and we never saw him again until we had to wave him down to bring the check. He never checked on us after the food was delivered (by someone else) to ensure we were happy with our meal. Other staff members made sure our water glasses were topped off, but he was no where to be seen. The food was average, at best. It’s a beautiful restaurant, but ultimately the food has to be good in order for a return visit.
Food was great, service was pretty good.
Great location and fabulous service. Amazing meal!
I and my guests always enjoy Clyde's. It's m go-to place when I'm near Gallery Place.
Was looking forward to the ambiance of the classy wood decor and got stuck out on what seemed like a patio in wicker chairs in a corner with a waitress that was not up to par. Food was great! So will come again but refuse to sit out there again.
My mother and I had dinner here before a theater production and had a great time. The service was fast, and our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My Atlantic salmon dish was just delicious and the Maryland crab soup was also very good. I recommend this place for a group get together or any other type of special occasion. We will be back. Thank you!
The service staff - host and hostess were not helpful. We had tow parties of 7 that asked to be seated in the same room. They were adamant that this was not possible. The entire hour and 20 minutes that we were seated, there were a minimum of 5 tables in the room that were vacant and they could have easily accommodated both parties within the same room. There service was terrible. These were two families that had small children and wanted to be near each other and no reason why that could not happen with open tables. They were also very rude when we were making the reservations and inquiring about this at least 4-5 days before our visit. I would not recommend this restaurant to others that have families or parties greater than 4.
Ordered a steak that was way too salty - waiter did not know the menu and could not give recommendations
Reliable spot. Lamb shank was just how I expected. Place has a good vibe...
I have been going to Clyde’s for years and this is the first time that I didn’t like it. The crab cakes were mushy and more filler than crab, the collard greens had meat and it doesn’t say meat included on the menu, no more asparagus WOW. I did like the oysters which they are always fresh and very good.
After a matinee at the Shakespeare Theatre on a rainy night this was a cozy treat. Good wine selections, my husband's steak was excellent -- good cut, cooked to perfection, included a delicious sauce -- and my butternut squash ravioli was just what I hoped.
I'm not sure why Clyde's has thousands of good reviews. The restaurant is pretty run down and needs serious updating. It smells of dishwater when you walk in the door. The food left a lot to be desired and isn't worth writing about. Our service was perfectly fine and server was attentive. With all the great restaurants in the area, there is just no reason to go here.
We had a great experience! Ashley, our server, was extremely attentive and provided recommendations. I had the Mystic Oysters (happy hour price - can't beat it) and the Steak Tacos (spicy, but I loved them). My husband had a hamburger - he loved the meat but wasn't wild about the bun. The beer and wine options were great, too. I have always liked this place and whenever we go to the Capital One Arena, we make a stop here!
Food was wonderful. Our order for some reason took about 40 minutes to arrive. The manager was very accommodating and gave us a substantial discount on lunch when he learned that we had waited a long time for our food to arrive.
Clyde's has been a staple in DC for many, many years and hasn't waivered with dependably good food and service. I got the French dip sandwich on a tasty roll. Appreciate that you can substitute a small salad for French fries for no extra charge. Friend on the Maryland crab soup but wasn't really enough for a meal alone and they charge $7! It's tasty, but not cheap. Will continue to go back. Suggest watching for specials!
You should bring back liver and onions for sure. The Old Ebbitt has been selling lots of it according to the waiters and yours was better. Also that chicken (parmigiana?). You used to have is missed. Aretha is very good server.
Good food and atmosphere, very strange service. I suspect that was the exception, not the rule.
Dinner with co-workers plus drinks afterwards to watch some ball games. Food was very good, can’t beat the ambiance and incredible photography and artwork.
Convenient to Capital One arena. Good food at reasonable prices.
Great for families! $5.99 kids meals with great choices.
I love Clyde’s and our waiter was exceptional. He made great suggestions for my birthday dinner and everything I had was exquisite!!!
A reliable spot. My friend said the filet was cooked as requested. Single crab cake was the right proportion. I'll be back.
Clyde's is a GREAT location for events at the Verizon Center... the atmosphere is super cool and the staff is uber professional. The food is just ok... and the prices are reasonable. I will go there again (and again) for the value of a great spot with decent enough food and reasonable value. But it is not a place for a meal that will rock your socks.
Service was slower than Normal but the Michele Obama event was going on so it’s understandable
Great location especially if you have an event at Capital One Arena. They do accept reservations as well.
Dinner before a show at the Capital One arena. Our party of 5 was seated in a booth in the bar. The noise level of the bar made it hard to hear at our table.
It is convenient to the arena. It is incredibly loud. Service painfully slow which shouldn’t be the case for a chain restaurant in that location. My daughter has tree nut allergies, which we shared with the server. There are protocols to follow-they clearly didn’t follow them for her meal. She was ok because we sent food back before she ate anything. Just overall, a bad experience.
We were late for our reservation but they were anle to accommodate us in time before our event. Food was excellent and service was fast and friendly.
We had a fantastic time! We began the evening with Mason and ended with Michelle as our servers, both were excellent!!!! Great, great time!!!!
Clyde's at Gallery Place never disappoints! I like the upstairs dining rooms best - more cozy and quiet. When in town for an event at the arena, this location is perfect and offers a much nicer dining experience than a quick sandwich shop or sports bar.
Great service and great food, as usual!
Went to Clydes prior to seeing show at Ford's Theater. Close by and easy walk. Great food and large portions. Good drink selection and was great for our large group. Great ambiance.
Our waiter was fantastic! Clyde’s has always been a family favorite but this location went above and beyond.
Great spot for a meal before or after a Capital One Arena event (Caps, Wizards, concert, etc.)
Washington Capitals Pre-Game
Had a reservation but it took a 1/2 hour to be seated. Service was poor and the food was uninspired. Complained to manager who did not instill confidence that this was an isolated case. He apologized but it was a "canned" and lacked empathy.
My family went there for our Thanksgiving supper. The restaurant was beautiful! Their selection was wonderful for the Thanksgiving Holiday and our host was friendly and greeted us quickly. After we were sat, things went downhill quickly. It took our waiter a while to get to our table and once there, she was not friendly. She rolled her eyes when I asked to leave an item off my dish. I ordered a glass of wine. The first glass she brought was dirty. When we pointed this out, she held it up and switched it around at our table and said yeah it is. The second glass of she brought was not as dirty but not completely clean. She never apologized. She continued to give subpar service the remainder of the meal. The gentleman that brought our dinner was professional and asked if we needed anything further. Our food was good but not outstanding. Although, my daughter did order the Thanksgiving meal which was very tasty. We will not return to Clyde’s for the amount of money we paid and the service we received.
We went for Thanksgiving dinner. The menu options were great, including the additional Thanksgiving dinner options. The serving was huge- everybody took a box home. We had a later reservation and the restaurant had run out of apple pie, but overall the experience was good.
