Clyde's of Georgetown
A Georgetown classic that has stood the test of time. Solid to excellent food for a casual meal, also kid friendly.
Father’s Day Brunch
Great service & atmosphere. This is one of the older Clyde's so you get a nostalgic feeling. The food was just enough, ordered the Crawfish Sandwich w/mixed green salad.
Waitress wasn’t very attentive, paid more attention to the table across from us. When packing up my food she leaned over it and her nasty keys landed in my pasta. When placing the food to the other table members she leaned over my food.
Our server was amazing. He had real excitement for a few seasonal items that made me want to try them. He was on top of watching for cues from us. The portion sizes were perfect, and the food was very good. The room was at a reasonable volume until they put a couple of tables together right next to our booth with a very noisy crowd that made it hard to hear each other, and for the servers to get around without bumping into us, or to the patrons at that table. Luckily that was shortly before we left, but that seating setup was a "miss" in terms of accessibility, and noise.
Great food in an iconic setting in Georgetown, need to book though so you don't miss out! 😁
Great atmosphere. The server did a great job making suggestions for both drinks and our meal. Food was amazing! Ask to sit in the back under the airplanes and sky lights. Very nice.
California friend visiting and wanted her to have a nice lunch in Georgetown.
We ordered burgers and one of the burgers had a bun with mold.
Clyde’s is a DC standard. Consistent, straight forward, good food & excellent service.
Good server but so so food. Two of four entrees were lukewarm. Flavor of dishes was okay but not great and the soup was watery and lacking substance vs what was advertised. We were on vacation and picked this place because of the wide variety on the menu to satisfy everyone. We should have gone to another restaurant. I would not recommend this as a first option.
Great crab cake and Parmesan California. Pork chop and buffalo wings were average, a bit too salty for my taste
The server was obviously new. She brought our appetizers at the same time as the main dish, despite one of our group SPECIFICALLY asked her to not let this happen. She also did not bring a Caesar salad ordered by one of our group. The manager stepped in and made the situation right by apologizing and reducing our total charge for appetizer, main course and drinks to $100.00, about $20 per person.
As to the server, she also apologized. I do not hold this against her at all. When you are new, it takes time to get the hang of everything. If you do not make mistakes, it means you are not doing anything. Anyone can make mistake, including experienced wait staff [or in any other endeavor]. The art is in how one recovers and makes it right; we think Clyde's did exactly that.
Out of town visitors in for a very special occasion and a last minute reservation resulted in wonderful evening at Clyde’s of Georgetown. Food was excellent — I especially loved the scallops I had — and surprising and reliably wonderful all at once. Great drinks. We had a corner booth with lots of stories and laughter and talking so our server did not get to flip the table - but with extremely attentive service never once did we feel pressured to vacate. Clyde’s was one of the first places we visited when we first moved to DC and we keep going back despite countless other options for one simple reason - we are never ever disappointed with our visits to Clyde’s.
Service was friendly and the food was above average, but there was an ENORMOUS RAT running around the top of the wall around the dining room. After I saw it a few times I just lost my appetite.
The four of us, visiting from out of town, so enjoyed our meal, including service and ambiance.
Our meal started at 6:00PM. Service was initially good and it was possible to have a conversation. By 6:30PM, our section filled up, the noise level made it impossible to hear each other and it took 10 minutes to get our check and then another 10 minutes to get someone to take our payment. The food was good but the overall experience was diminished
Great, busy atmosphere. Food was timely and hot.
Service was a team tactic and much appreciated.
Menu was just the right amount of choices.... Rueben was the bomb! Loved it.
All the staff was patient & accommodating. Great atmosphere as usual and delicious food.
Superb as always
What you see is what you get with Clyde's. Food is good to very good, service is very attentive, the atmosphere is dark and woody like you would want in a Georgetown tavern-y kind of place. Is it touristy? Sure. Do locals also eat there? Of course. Moderately priced for DC and a great place to take visitors or just grab a nice dinner. Recommended.
Great food and atmosphere. However, the noise level was like nothing I have ever experienced at a restaurant. Makes conversation difficult.
The restaurant is located on the main street in Georgetown. You walk in to a warm, bar atmosphere which then opens up to a few different rooms which continue in the rich flavor of wood, dim lights and artistic sculptures.
My party and I ordered several plates to share. The Jumbo Lump Crab cakes were delicious (loaded with crab). We also had the crab and artichoke dip (again mostly crab), crispy parmesan cauliflower (perfection) and Clyde’s sliders. Everything was served to perfection, hot, and recommended.
Our server was energetic, knowledgeable and made several suggestions about the food.
The prices are excellent, the food is plenty and the atmosphere is fun and casual!!!
Great location and atmosphere!
Good variety of cuisine was available and everyone’s food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful.
I was a treat to be at Clyde's and have my nephew Nick as our server.
He did a great job!
Wonderful as usual.
Fantastic scallops with mushrooms. Scallops very fresh, mushrooms and sauce amazing. It's one of those dishes where one needs bread to soak up the mushroom sauce, the sauce is that good. One of Dmitri's best dishes.
I also had the Wolf Trap Chenin Blanc, per Ramin's suggestion. Another excellent suggestion from Ramin.
Mussels were great. Nice local restaurant to get the Georgetown experience.
Food was great!
Pleasant although server overwhelmed!
Great food and kid/family friendly. Would definitely eat here again when we’re in town.
Ordered steak medium, arrived well done. Twice! Service was slow.
Really liked Clyde’s . Great food, great atmosphere, great service . Highly recommend
Wonderful in every way.
Not as good as I remember- came to DC for a conference after many years away (G’town grad). Clyde’s is not what it used to be... food was fine, but not great. Smelled awful from all the mussels. Waiter was attentive and listened well, but the overall experience was a big disappointment. On expense account, could have chosen any restaurant. I certainly regret my choice. Also, online menu is different from restaurant menu.
I would recommend Clyde's of Georgetown because the food and service was fantastic. I ordered a burger and my colleague ordered the crabcake. We had made a reservation through OpenTable and were seated right away. The server knew the menu, we attentive to our drinks, and pleasant. Next time in DC, I would go again.
Amazing service, delicious food. And definitely something for everyone. Great find in Washington, DC!
One of the reliable spots in Georgetown for a casual meal. We have been there many times and were never disappointed. It is a bit cramped but otherwise all is fine.
Food was fine. Ambiance was awesome and the back room should be made more known.
